Yeah right I can't believe it it's just blown my mind that the first one their faces in 1990 looks so much better than 3 year's later even when the production costed were low.
The Turtles in Time subtitle carried more meaning in the comic books and especially videogames, that tacking it on the movie would've killed all three mediums. Also, between the three movies, they went back and forth with actors, voice actors, etc. Also, also... the original TMNT 2 ending was supposed to introduce the Utrom, Krang's race, after the demise of the Super Shredder. It lets me think of what 4 could've been... maybe we would've finally seen Krang and the Technodrome. Maybe they would've went to the post Greenhouse effect flooded Earth and met Future Donnie and battled the Shark King guy? Who knows what could've been?
A bit of Japanese folklore history for you for fun. The whole scroll with the Turtles on it and saying "Kappa" is due to old Japanese folklore. A Kappa is water Yokai (demon/spirit) that has the appearance of a turtle but has some humanoid features like legs and stuff to walk around. It is stated that they're blood thirsty Yokai. So in the folklore is that when someone drowns or dies in rivers, lakes, and ponds in Japan is because a Kappa has taken them. So in Japan when they have "do not swim" signs up around a a source of water they also have an image of a kappa on them too. A Kappa also has a dented in head that carries water in it that I believe gives them the ability to walk on land. Also in the folklore a kappa's weakness is how polite they are. It is said that if a Kappa is after you the way to defeat them is to bow to them. Due to them being polite they will bow back and the water in the dented part of their head will pour out and they become powerless and I believe remain stuck bowing down.
Everyone should drop a like just for them reacting to this bro 😂 I ain’t gonna lie I vouched for this movie too even though me watching this was a distant memory 😂
@@Rainbow.Pegacorn.Cosplay How? I guess in its "humor" but I definitely wasn't entertained by those fights even as a kid at the time, especially compared to the first film. I'd argue that the fights are better in this movie and it's mainly only because the stuntmen were actually allowed to do some martial arts.
@@JeffZ1028 I can't argue with the fact that the fights were more humor-based in Turtles 2, and they couldn't use their weapons in that one all that much, due to parent complaints.
In Usagi the Turtles often appeared in cameo, to take on bandits and vengeful samurai, brought to life by Splinter. He got to know them in early Groo appearances in the 80s.
Thank you for continuing the live action film series. Like with the Batman quadrilogy, the films are a part of the franchise's history despite their criticism. The time scepter is from the original comics, but it's not like it is in the film. Also, my uncle, Soke George Denson, worked on this film. I remember going to his dojo and seeing posters from the first movie that I still cannot find. I remember seeing ones of Shedder and Tatsu. They were probably behind the scenes photos that were blown up.
Thank you again for giving TMNT 3 the benefit of the doubt. Despite its shortcomings, I still say it’s better than part 2. Seeing you guys bust out laughing for this one was entertaining.
Great reaction glad you checked this out, you know as an oldschool TMNT fan myself I feel your pain but once you see Mutant Mayhem this movie looks like a gem by comparison lol.
some things you have to understand about the second film, the actors really disliked the job the suits had horrible mobility because of how much they weighed, the animatronic mouths of the suits never worked properly going back to the very first movie which cause a lot of scenes to have to be reshot for that reason alone (and even in the end they still ended up having to use takes where the speak and mouths don't match up,(especially in the first movie because of time and budget constraints), the first movie their heart was in it, but it was miserable, the second time it was all misery for them which is why they had to recast them, most of them didn't want to do the second movie at all, one of them (leonardo, i think) ended up having a panic attack in the 70lb rubber costume and had to be cut out of costume, and there was no duplicate suit so then ended up having to tape it back together. the vanilla ice thing, you have to understand how popular vanilla ice was for the about the first 5 years after the release of ice, ice baby, and since they broke into a club that he was performing at it wasn't really as out of place as you make it seem... that was some people's favorite part of the movie back then. especially if you were an older TMNT watcher of the movie, you automatically knew who that was back then, its was a huge get, and "turtle rap" became the theme song of the movie essentially. the third movie does indeed star the april from the second movie (paige turco) and she played the role almost identically to the original actress.
I will love all 3 no matter what even if some are considered lesser because of parents’ complaining 😒.edit: hold up someone said it’s better than the 1st 😂🤣?!
I like the time travel aspect of this movie, even though it seems kinda weird. Glad you guys reacted to it. I hope you don't hate it as much as I think you will.
Me personally wasn't bothered by your criticism on the film. I'm just glad you at least gave it a look. I mean you didn't even have to do a reaction to it. As long as you guys at least watched it once. The suits was the main thing for me and that's only due to them not using Jim Henson studio or something like that (forgot it been a while). Like I said in my comment on your reaction to the 2nd movies. I know the 3rd one wasn't the best of the 3 but I still liked it for nostalgia and it wasn't that bad to me. To each their own I always say. I still liked it even with all it's flaws. A friend of mine and me has this inside joke where randomly out of nowhere one of us will say "Hockey Hockey" and the other person has to replay back with "Hockey Hockey". All for just kicks and giggles.
Past Casey only existed to give April something to do in the movie which means if you cut out April then you don't need him either which gift substantially more time for more entertaining plot elements
@OctoKrool Here's a series to watch: Pirates of the Caribbean Parts 1 - 3 (you can watch 4 and 5 but they're stand alones - 5 does tie up and shows a few other things from the first few films) I think you'd definitely like Pirates 1, 2 & 3.
The one line that I always remember from this movie is when the four samurai that went to the future are watching hockey and Casey pulling them to the side to teach them more about it and they turn to each other and say, "Ah, Hockey dubudubu"
I do appreciate the fact that you guys followed through with watching the third film. I love all three. I've seen all of them in the theater. I appreciate that the filmmakers for the third entry tried something completely different. Enough with Shredder and the Foot Clan. I liked the time travel plot also.
All right. First it was Raph throwing his sai at the stereo, then it was Lord Norinaga ordering his guys to smash April's walkman. I'm getting the feeling the pattern is you guys saying: "They killed the music" But no, seriously, *DO NOT* believe the haters saying the third was trash!! One of the *BIGGEST* reasons the third is the best??? *NO SHREDDER!!!* I'm disappointed they didn't make Norinaga Shredder's ancestor; Which would suck because that'd make Kenshin Shredder's ancestor too.
I was 12 when the first one came out. Nothing is better than seeing it at 12 in theater. I had all 4 Turtle Action Figures. So you understand I had to watch all 5. And you are not fans true fans if you don't watch the 2 remakes. Just for loyalty to the brand.
I'm glad you bros saw this at least once. I happen to find Secret of the Ooze more rewatchable than the 3rd - it's more my kind of cringe. Third is nice that their weapons appear more and some funny moments, but I wish Casey went back too and the Splinter animatronic wasn't so crap.
Turtles in Time was an Iconic beat em up arcade game from that era. You fellas notice how the quality has gone down each movie. The first TMNT was next to a perfect adaptation of the original comics and cartoons. I don't know if it still stands but it was the highest grossing independent film after it came out. Everything after that is tied to your nostalgia growing up.
Certainly one of those films that doesn't stand the test of time. Some trivia: At the time this movie was released, Golden Harvest thought the franchise had reached the end of its movie career. The project went forward with low expectations, little fanfare, and a modest $17 million budget.
Yesssss! This is classic! It has Sarah Michelle Gellar, Chris Evans, Patrick Stewart, Lawrence Fishburne, Kevin Smith, Zhang Ziyi and the legendary late actor Mako.
The 2nd one worked for the time fellas. It's my favorite one besides the 1st one because it was my childhood and it will always have a special place in my heart. But am glad you guys enjoyed them all regardless.. 👍
This might not be what others think, but this is honestly my favourite of the turtles movies. I find it fun & I grew up watching this one the most out of all of them.
The Kurt Russell comment was a reference to the Firefighter movie "Backdraft" (1991)........ This Movie takes them back to some of the orginal TNMT style/mood..... I agree with your ranking of 1, 3, 2......
people tend to crap on this movie more than it deserves. For the most part it is a good fun turtles adventure. One of the big issues I have is how they made it a bit too easy. EVERYONE knows some english. It detracts a LOT from what we as an audience expect when the time traveling is revealed. One would expect hijinks based on cultural and language barriers.
Hooray guilt trip! Think the big problem with this film was that they used a different costume group from the first two films, which is why they look so different. Points for getting Corey Feldman back. I think someone said that the evil European was supposed to be secretly another time traveler in the original script but they dropped it. Maybe, don't take my word of mouth. And I don't know who said this was better than the first, but i clarified it was better than the second. Glad you guys felt the same. Still a corny flick by all standards, but marginally better than the second. And i liked the idea of Raph and Mikey somewhat growing out of their...shells, for lack of a better term. Character development.
Personally I like this one better than the second. It went back to a slightly darker tone with fantasy/supernatural elements. It also had more heart and emotion than the second one did, which was closer to the first. Granted, it still had a fairly goofy tone to it. But I loved it regardless.
All I remember about this movie is turtles (with faces uglier than in previous movies) going back in time fight some regular dude in feudal Japan and that it felt cheap and fake to me, not like TMNT movie at all. The first one (from 1990) thou - I absolutely love it!
It may seem ridiculous, but that's part of its charm. At least it committed to the ridiculousness. For that reason, I like it better than the second one, which I feel was a strange mix of tone. Of course the first is the best, but for me 3 holds a special place in my heart. Plus I'm a Casey Jones fan... what can I say?
That intro had me in stitches, however, TMNT 3 was better than 2. Hell no was it better than one. One is by far the best TMNT movie ever made IMO. (edit) Please watch the animated TMNT movie.
LOL! Yeeeeah, this movie has not aged well, but I also remember enjoying it as a kid when it first came out, so there's some nostalgia there. Of course, I don't have blinders to its flaws. Like the poor prosthetics for the turtles' faces. Hells, even the first movie did it better. I will say that I was VERY happy to see Casey Jones come back, so that was a plus. All in all, a flawed yet still entertaining flick. Until next time, ya''l take care and have a good one! P.S. Also, when you can, I still do HIGHLY recommend "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)", "Broken Arrow (1996)", "Assassins (1995)", and "Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (1985)" for ya'll to react to. Believe me, you won't be disappointed. 😉👍
Thank you guys for being good sports for giving this movie an opportunity to entertain you. I am not with those that said to watch this movie. For me the first film was, is and always will be the absolute best in the series. I did however enjoy the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon and of course the original arcade game.
6:47 fun fact there were actually Japanese samurai helmets that did have horns on him that size to make them look like dragons or demons Another fun fact that nobody knows about the guy April rescue from the cage is Casey Jones' ancestor
Im late. But the movie was marketed with Turtles in Time being mentioned. But when it flopped they just made it Turtles 3 cuz no one cared anyway. Except Turtles fans that didn't care. Like me. I loved this movie. I like all the movies. Im a turtles fan. Have been since i saw the original in theatres. Yes, im that old.
Love this movie been watching it 20 odd years still enjoy it. Fun face the Daimyo has a small part in The Last Samurai he fires the arrow that ignites the oil on the battlefield at the end
From childhood until now, I've always thought this one is WAY better than Secret of the Ooze and I will die on that unpopular opinion hill. The premise of III and having actual character development for Raph and Mikey trumps a Vanilla Ice cameo and a lame anticlimactic Super Shredder fight for me any day.
This movie is a little bit better than the 2nd one. Despite the suits being ugly. At least the turtles got to use their weapons and used a lot of quirkiness while they were fighting.
I liked it better than the second one, but it is still pretty much crap. I think the feudal Japan thing was interesting but the script just wasn't up to it. I think they just wanted to avoid Shredder yet again. It didn't help that the animatronics were not as good either. I think the "Turtles in Time" tagline was intended to capitalize on the popularity of the arcade game of the same name.
I remember seeing this. At the big finale where the villain is defeated, I remember as a kid honestly thinking "Wait..who was this guy again?" Terrible movie.
Don't think you two have gotten to these films yet, but the actor who plays the English villain in this also plays the primary villains in both Mask of Zorro and Lethal Weapon 3.
I think you guys will definitely then enjoy the 2014 Ninja Turtles and the sequel in 2016. You both need to watch them all at this point leading up to Mutant Mayhem!!!
Guyz…tht song that was playin in the arcade club…it’s called Tarzan Boy by Baltimora nd mannnn when I tell y’all…I listen to tht song everytime…it’s catchy nd it’s my favorite!!!
The first 3 are the only Turtle movies I care to acknowledge. The CGI versions can rot in hell. If I wanted a cartoon version, hand drawn, I’d watch the original TV series. Obviously, things got a lot more baby friendly as the movies went along. The original was very 80s PG, which is great, but some Neanderthal parents got upset with some of the language, so the other films got tamer.
It was amazing your attention with Brazilian movies. Thank you so much. Some films suggestions: "Men of Honor" (2000); the korean film "I saw the devil" (2010); "Platoon" (1986); "We were soldiers" (2002); "Django Unchained" (2012); "A million ways to die in the West" (2014); "Forrest Gump" (1994); Maverick (1994); Red Cliff (2008); and the Brazilian "O auto da Compadecida" (2000) [A dog's will]. As a difference from other channels, you guys could do the reaction to the series produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg "Band of Brothers" and also "The Pacific". Each episode is the length of a movie and are true stories.

The Kurt Russell comment was a reference to the Firefighter movie "Backdraft" (1991)........
This Movie takes them back to some of the orginal TNMT style/mood.....
I agree with your ranking of 1, 3, 2......
You guys should check out the Ninja Turtles crossover with the Power Rangers. I think it was 2 episodes but I can’t remember for sure.
It was 2 episodes.
people tend to crap on this movie more than it deserves.
Thank you, fight scenes here are better than part 2.
These movies are super campy but fun. I’ll still never get over the mobility in those suits, though.
I remember seeing this in theaters when it came out. I was 3. I remember I commented that the turtles looked different.
Personally I like this one better than the second. It went back to a slightly darker tone with fantasy/supernatural elements. It also had more heart and emotion than the second one did, which was closer to the first. Granted, it still had a fairly goofy tone to it. But I loved it regardless.
I enjoyed this one as a kid and had on VHS.
AVGN reviewed this movie. He chopped the VHS tape in half with a martial arts sword. Then hammered it.
Saw this in theatres as a kid. Was the first movie I ever walked out of thinking it was shit.
TMNT 3 might be bad to some, but you can not deny the one good thing that's is universal, that came from the movie. We got *TARZAN BOY!!!*
6:47 fun fact there were actually Japanese samurai helmets that did have horns on him that size to make them look like dragons or demons
Another fun fact that nobody knows about the guy April rescue from the cage is Casey Jones' ancestor
when I was little, we'd go to grndmas house and we'd always watch 1 of 2 movies, A Nightmare Before Christmas and Turtles 3. Loved them both.
😊😊 I love that Kacy is back, I also love 'Tarzan Boy' song
This movie is a little bit better than the 2nd one. Despite the suits being ugly. At least the turtles got to use their weapons and used a lot of quirkiness while they were fighting.
This movie, though bad, was always a guilt pleasure for me as a kid. I even had all four turtles as samurai action figures.
I always wondered if this movie was inspired by the Konami game "TMNT Turtles in Time"
it might be as good as the first 2 movies, but it's still a fun movie..
I like all three movies
Another good thing about this movie, is that they are finally using their weapons more..
12:13 that explains the change in his voice
21:47 backdraft (1991) kurt russel is a firefighter
I remember seeing this.
At the big finale where the villain is defeated, I remember as a kid honestly thinking "Wait..who was this guy again?"
Terrible movie.
Don't think you two have gotten to these films yet, but the actor who plays the English villain in this also plays the primary villains in both Mask of Zorro and Lethal Weapon 3.
And Hot Fuzz
I'm glad that people told you to drop your expectations way low, probably helped the reaction.
