I am at the last year of the music college. This advices are really but really very important..Most important is “thinking and knowing what you are playing”…Practicing scales and arpeggious, and at least maj-min distances (for example in Gmaj ; g-b-a-c-b-d-c-e-d-f#) are very important. If you do this for all your scales everydays then you can play easily and memorize almost every pieces wrote for the flute.Don’t forget to breath ;)

I'm used to the good old "do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do" scales from my singing days, so that is a major help to me in addition to these tips!

Hi just join and what a sound may I ask what kind of flute do you have my flute is new but I feel as if I have to squeeze the keys in order to play the note which is hard I hope to invest in a flute I do not have force the notes out to make the sound and to play beautiful me and softly creating music of my own to my family and to my friends

Oh dear. it does sound like you may need to take your flute in for a service! That is probably a good place to start and then maybe consider getting a new instrument. I play a Muramatsu Gx and really love it so much! But there are plenty of really great instruments to choose from. I really recommend the Flute Center of New York if you are in the USA. If you use my code "PRACTICE" here you can even get a few extra perks 😉 hope you can fix your flute soon!

My least favorite scales is the C Major scale 😭. Especially the higher octave. I have an extra key on my flute that makes the high C easier to get out, but it throws of my rhythm😔

For the scales, the flats and sharps arent added to the notes, so do we just have to change them ourselves(adding sharps and flats)?
Edit: I am aware of the notes to change but not sure if I'm looking at a wrong scale sheet because the sharps/flats dont show

Do you also play the piccolo? I think the piccolo is too high and damaging to our ears. Stay with the flute.
