C# is my favourite Scale you will be surprised to know 😅Dear basically I am from India here maximum people starts there music journey from C# Scale. and all ragas in books also available from C# scale
Hello Jane..your videos are so helpful. I have been learning the flute for 1 month with an instructor. However, I am very frustrated because we are not learning scales, and working on high notes already. My biggest challenge is playing C and transitioning to low notes E, F or D. Any advice you can share ? Thank you very much.
That's awesome you've been learning flute for 1 month! Hope you're enjoying it! 😀 Play each of these notes slowly and carefully to make sure you're using the correct fingering. For low D, make sure your left hand index finger is down too. 😊
The B scale, starting from the low B, then ascending. It's like a "bring it on" moment. Maybe, F# next. I already play keyboards so I like to challenge myself by learning, I know it may sound crazy😳, harder things first and muscle my brain through it.🦾. By the way, 👍😎, teach!!!😮
Hello, i have a question about the D# key Ive seen in a few places that in order to play the E note and upwards, you must hold the D# key for that(i also notice that you do this in this video) But when I play the E note, it doesn't matter if I hold the D# key or not, the E note comes out as intended, and that key is working properly because it sounds fine when I need to go from D to D# Can you clarify this for me? If it matters, I'm using a cheap 70$ flute
For E, the right hand pinky key does need to be down. It is only a slight difference in tone which you may not be able to hear as a beginner flute player. I can tell when my students aren't doing this note correctly even without looking at their fingers. 😀 When you eventually upgrade your flute, you may notice more of a difference of tone for this note when comparing the correct E fingering to the incorrect fingering. 😊
@@JaneFluteSchooli see what you mean, but after playing around with it a while, it made me think that there's possibly something wrong with my flute, because when when i do the fingering for high B, the C note is played instead, i just can't get to play that note for some reason. Either that or I'm just doing everything wrong 😆 I just picked up a flute, but I've been playing keyboard for 2 years now, I'm still a beginner musician but I can identify single notes, and learning flute is making me confused haha Still, many thanks for the reply. Your videos are very helpful
You can use a little bit of sticky tape on the head joint so provide more friction so it will stop the head joint from turning when playing your flute. 😀
It comes back. I hadn't played my clarinet for 30 years, but during the lockdowns I randomly decided to learn the flute. It mostly uses the notes that I couldn't read yet while learning clarinet. But I caught up fast.
Yes, it may take a bit of time, but you will be able to pick it up again. Just be patient and take it one step at a time. 😀 Here's the link to my free mini course on tone to help you get started. www.flute.school/free

How do you stop a curves head flute head moving position whilst playing e.g. twisted to go under.
Thank you
