    I was ubering today and refunded a couple items on my list that were pending for substitutions. They had been pending for the entire shop and it would have held me up to wait for a response. I said that I had waited long enough and made the substitutions because I was going to "move on with my life." Thinking about you guys made me smile. I thought you'd be proud of me for making myself a priority and not letting the customer use me as a door mat. LOL Heather xo

    22:17 for the peanut butter, the app now lets you refund an item after checkout before you complete the delivery on the app.

    I also just started doing point pick up I’m from south nj and it was busy some orders pay 30 doller and to pick up only no shopping and only 4 miles

    On the app for instacart they have what shelf it could be on like pasta shelf 1 and it always goses from bottom to top so top would be like 5

    About the peanut butter again. I always try to ask a store associate for help or if they have any in back or in a different area. I agree with the other comments about slowing down and shopping with attention to detail. When you start the shop with the idea that you can get it done faster than the stated time it sets you up for mistakes to be made.

      I def think Instacart having that timer on the app contributes to the anxiety of trying to get the order done quicker. That might be something interesting to talk about in a future video.

      @@TheLongIslandDashExperience Lou, that timer in the bottom is made up by your overall shopping speed. That’s an estimate on how long IC thinks it will take you to shop. It will not affect you in any negative way if you go over. Promise ya bud! When I first started they gave me like 35 minutes for 15 items. Now that I’ve been doing this so long and at the same store usually they give me 14 minutes to do the same 15 items. It’s all dependent on what you have done previous and an average.

    For produce it doesn't usually matter....because stores switch produce brands all the time. But in the case of the blueberries you were definitely right Lou, since the package was smaller it definitely needed to be replaced.

      @@frankm5019 you're right I didn't mean the package was smaller, I meant that if they marked it as "correct", the customer would have been charged the $9 for driscolls, when in reality the blueberries they got were $5

    You can refund items at the door if the customer doesn't want it. Just click to view all the items, then click on the item the customer wants refunded, and then click "refund"

    About Uber being dead, I see only 1 or 2 offers on a peak 5 to 8 pm Friday/Saturday dinner shift. Used to be busy all the time on Uber and then add DD when I can get orders going in the same direction.
    I see limited IC orders too, and the cashier at Costco has noticed that IC delivery volume has gone down while the store traffic has continue to increase.
    Only see 1-2 decent Walmart orders in a day too. It was pretty consistent for awhile, and they only have 1 other car at most in pickup spaces. The 10 pickup spaces were full for awhile.

    If I don’t hear from them, I keep calling. If they don’t respond , the product is refunded. I’ve done that several times.

    I don't no is it just me but it seem like a product have so many brands I take vitamins and it's a hassle sometimes trying to find the brand and/or the type of vitamin you want and other products as well.

    That JIF lady was annoying. She literally asked if you could return the peanut butter. Um NO! 😐🤣 Lou, you're not a stupid schmuck, she is. 😮 Did I just say that? 😂 She should've kept her phone in her hand, and she should've put the right phone number for you to easily get in contact with her. Smh. You and Mary did a good job despite that hiccup. Looking forward to more videos!

    LOL reminds me of a time i had a customer respond with the letter N every time she didn’t like a replacement. I had to ask her what she meant and she said the N stood for No replacement …

      She’s getting your messages thru text. Instacart is asking her to reply with an N or a Y if they want a replacement or agree with a replacement you made. Hope this helps.

    Been sad lost LOP on DD recently 😢 not cuz of ratings just cuz of app glitching 1 night... So now been getting 💩 orders. So have turned to doing more IC instead. N luv app telling me aisles 👍 makes it soooo much easier than it used to be😊 thanks for all ur videos❤

    For peanut butter I would cancel on the app if able to. If not I would let the customer know that I will contact customer service and let them know that she would like a refund and how to proceed and she should go on the app as well and request a refund.

    I’m glad Lou stepped in for the blueberries because Mary wanting to force find the smaller package for almost $10 the customer would have been mad. I know Mary likes to go fast but sometimes just taking your time you get done even faster. Also communication is key, I know this lady ignored y’all but with all future orders unless you get a less talkative customer but I find about 85% of my batches have tip adjustments in increases because I communicate and make sure they get what they need.

    I hate when they are not responsive. It sucks the customer can change the tip after the fact. Especially when you do the best you can and it still doesn't matter to Instacart. You definitely handled it correctly. I had that happen last week. Peanut Butter Gate LOL

    I think the app is glitchy with calls and messages sometimes. And you can refund any item at the door, as others have pointed out :) But I think you were pretty nice on the phone, I get so anxious talking to customers 👍🏻

    You didn't handle it correctly. Even after purchasing it, you can refund at the door. Refund the item and keep it for yourself or give it to the customer for free. In this
    case she wouldn't want it cuz she doesn't like it. You need to do this to save your ratings.
    Refunding at the door has always existed. It's a just in case factor for situations exactly like this. They didn't respond in the app but they are pretty adamant at the door that they don't like your replacement or you break the eggs on the driveway. The watermelon the juice container or the milk is leaking. I could go on. It gives the ability to appease the customer and the customer is always right.

    Try slowing down when shopping. The peanut butter she wanted was in stock. It’s the skippy with the dark blue lid. Tip for finding items when it says the shelf number count up from the bottom to the number it says on the app. That way you can limit how many things you are looking at. Making the item easier to find.

      Slow down when shopping? They did the right thing in moving on because the customer didn't seem responsive. He even tried to call her and she didn't respond. I would have done the same thing. All I can say is there could be an internet or network problem which caused the "miscommunication", but I think they did the right thing. Let's hope the customer didn't give them a one-star rating.

Not trying to be mean just trying to help assure that the customers get the items they have requested. I think you are misunderstanding my comment. I never once brought up talking to the customer. I was simply stated that he was standing right in front of the peanut butter that she wanted. 😂
