Mat and the team have flown over to Germany to get their hands on some very special Manhart-tuned BMWs!
We’ve got Mat in the BMW XM Label Red, and Racing Driver Sam’s lining up in the BMW M4 CSL! So let’s see how the two compare.
Starting with the XM, this Label Red edition is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 and an electric motor. Combined they usually produce 748hp and 1,000Nm of torque. However, after Manhart added several upgrades, it can now put down 800hp and 1,100Nm! This power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and the car weighs in at a colossal 2,720kg! If you want to pick up this very car, it’ll set you back around £210,000.
Then we come to the M4 CSL. It’s powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo inline 6 which usually puts down 550hp and 650Nm. However, following the Manhart upgrades, it now puts down 702hp and 880Nm! As with the normal car, this power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed auto gearbox, and the car is over a tonne lighter than the XM, coming in at 1,625kg. If you want to buy one, this Manhart edition will cost at least £227,000!
So the XM may have more power, but will the huge weight difference drag it down? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!

exactly. my 2016 stock turbo 435xi does 11.70sec on e50 tune. But it makes maximum 420whp so it is like 470-480bhp considering awd drivetrain loss. So yeah rwd 700hp car should do at least 11.3sec

Carwow always has a problem with tuned cars. Nothing new. They had a 1000hp porsche turbo s running a .2 second better time then a stock porsche turbo s. Idk what's wrong with them
That m4 csl aint close to 700hp. Infact i reckon its probably even slower than the stock version thanks to its engine issues
it's about on par with the stock one when it comes to quarter mile times, carwow got 11.5 sec, 11.6 sec and 11.7 sec from the stock m4 csl in their other videos

The most amazing thing about this race test is that you see in the rolling race the XM going 200km/h+ while the M4 leads with 180km/h+.

G90 M5 will shock everyone. My friend tested one M5 at the dealership in New York and told me that it did 0-60 in 2.6 seconds and the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds.

Imagine taking a boring beetle (depend on the beetle tho) instead of an M5 that can do everything you want in a car while having extreme tuner potential like every recent BMWs.

Just FYI: The transmission in the XM isn’t a torque converter gearbox. The volume where usually the torque converter is located is used by the electric machine.

During the first rolling race, cars are supposed to be in the most comfort settings, but the M4 gearbox was set in most agressive setting. Look at the lines on the dashboard. XM's at 6:53 and M4's at 7:14

Manhart was never really doing a great job tuning BMWs. The 1/4 mile is more than disappointing. An RWD McLaren 720 is way faster.
Also, the comparison really suffers because the XM never has been a really fast car. So an M4 CSL losing against it shows how really slow that and bad performing it is.

@@mEmEzMaN... It's a British car. That alone is enough to doubt it has anything to do with "super". ;) Apart from negative things like super unreliable. Joke aside, McLaren did nothing the others couldn't do. They just put a lot of power with high downforce and active aero in a light vehicle.
Porsche (taking the 911 Turbo S) has better engines, better transmissions and basically the perfect launch control. But their cars are still too heavy and have less hp.
But seriously, the 720 hit nothing hard. It can't. It is such an expensive car and produced in such low numbers that it simply cannot hit anything.
The brand that actually hit something hard is Koeniggsegg. They actually develop new stuff that actually influences other brands as its ideas are simply astounding and groundbreaking. We are talking about a LOT of more money here and a head of the company unwilling (gladly) to simply follow the mainstream rules.

I was a BMW fan but now I don't care... 2500kg M5, 1700kg M235i, 1850kg BMW M2, front wheel drive 1 series.... the many bad decisions taken by BMW recently have made me stop being a BMW fan.

Manhart, when you want a car that is sets worse times than stock. A 380bhp MK V Supra does a faster 1/4 mile... what a joke. Saying that, there is no reason to have a RWD road car with more than 400bhp. Even that is overkill and just = wheelspin, not speed. It just for people that want to quote high numbers.
This XM is really quick! I was surprisingly awaiting the CSL to win, even if stock!
What annoys me about the current push for clean vehicles and how the government is doing it, that 2.7tonne 800hp land barge can get into strict clean air zones, but someone with their 20 year old 1.4 polo diesel can’t…

Whoever’s idea it was to put those extra red vinyls on the M4(not the ones that come on the CSL) should get the Ferrari treatment from BMW.
The wheelspin at the beginning for the CSL was killing me. Stock a CSL runs low 11s. An extra 150HP and running the same time is buns. Factory G80 M3 competition RWD runs mid 11s too. No advantange with the Manhart upgrades.
That M4 reminds me of the Adam West era Batmobile with the black and red colour scheme. 🤔

There is 3 settings for the gear box. At 7’07 Matt is at the lowest one, where Sam is at the highest. Could make a difference !

Y is manhart only getting 700bhp out of the CSL when shops in America or anywhere else all seem to normalize 650-680WHP on 93 with downpipe and a tune.
