Mine is arriving in a few days, the only thing that I was disappointed is the carbon fiber seats are actually very hard to find so is coming with the cube seats.
congrats! The Standard seats are great. They dont have the wow factor of the buckets but they held me in just fine during AutoX so cant complain too much. Congrats again on your new ride!
I own an F80 M3CS. One owner. 80k kilometers. You are aware that they ran the F80 M3 as a ring taxi and then went for the G80 M3 only to sell that car because the parts supply for the F80 is way better than the G80. Because of the weight you will have to change certain parts a lot sooner if you track the G80. The G80 platform is better but for enthousiast owner, F80 with DCT gives more thrills because it isn’t perfect. But G80 excellent choice of course.
Nice love the CS, my buddy has a F82 M4cs. There is nothing wrong with the F80, I still love the platform and think its a great car but the S55 did have its weaknesses like the crank hub. I agree its a more raw of an experience and feels more race car out of the box. I was looking for a car my wife would be happy with driving to dinner etc and something I could throw around a track, the G80 just delivered more in that department. You are right they did stick with the F80 for the ring taxi but like you said it was due to parts shortages, its doesn't make sense to switch platforms until parts become readily available, and there were many contributing outside factors; covid, shipping container shortages, supply chain, war in Ukraine (wiring harnesses). Honestly its a different strokes for different folks this was more of my opinion and how I landed on the G80. Either way you cant go wrong with either platform they both will drive great.
Looking at getting a used m340i 2020. Do you recommend getting a used BMW? I am nervous about reliability which is why I am hesitant, although I have heard the b58 is pretty reliable. Are BMWs more reliable in this day in age? By the way, I would plan to keep this car for awhile.
Yea nothing wrong with used as long as it wasn't abused. My M235i that I had before had about 12K miles on it when I bought it and drove it until around 40K miles with no issues at all. B58 is a solid platform its been used for multiple cars including the Supra, it also doesn't suffer from the oil starvation issues like the N55 did. If you go Certified pre owned too I believe you can also add on any extended warranty from BMW (if you dont plan on modding it.) M340I is a solid car, have two buddies with them and they sound great with the Dinan Catback on too! The BMW stigma of being unreliable is getting a bit dated, Consumer reports actually just ranked BMW as 3rd most reliable brand in 2022. Best of luck in the car search and any other questions feel free to fire them over.
@@AZM3DIA Awesome man thanks for the response I appreciate it. If I got the extended warranty but added an exhaust would that void it? or do they only void warranty for like modding engines etc? BTW your m3 is amazing.
Thank you! Its a dream come true for sure. As for the exhaust assuming you're in the US but short answer is No a Exhaust should NOT void a warranty, unless it can be proven it was the cause of the specific issue it had. Say if you're steering went out they couldn't void the warranty due to just an after market exhaust, the modification would have to correlate to the failure. I'd say 9.9/10 times a dealer wouldn't void a warranty with bolt on parts... a flash tune (BM3, MHD) will void a warranty which is why some people go with a piggyback system like JB4 AKA boost controllers, they are easier to hide for warranty work. Dinan is a BMW safe mod brand most dealers will warranty their parts if they install them, think Mugen for Honda, mountune for ford etc. Best bet is just find a service advisor at your local dealership who is "good about mods" and just stick with them for work. I plan to do exhaust, spings and spacers and I have a the full 5 year warranty from BMW if that eases any concerns.
@@tripleemce5003 Well I wouldnt say just because a 2020 means it will be reliable. I know m340i do have there fair share of problems and again buying a car of that caliber money wise is a very valid question to ask about reliability. At the end of the day it is still a BMW anything can happen
So you took your personal reasons why you liked the G80, and made them into points you could argue for your choice. That’s cool man. Isn’t that what every car enthusiast does when they bug a car?
Tbh I came into this video expecting it being more objective. I track my F80 M3 regularly and it has been such a joy to experience such a neutral platform.
Yea I still love the F series a lot. The look of the F80's is still amazing and will be a timeless design. That said the G8x is just more planted, after running a AutoX session with it I'm even more sold. Congrats on the G80, is my wife could drive stick I would have gone with that spec too!
Regarding the F80 I honestly think that's a skill issue, I've not heard of ANY M3's that spun out like that in Europe... Same thing with Mustangs, they drive just as hard over there but don't slide across 4 lanes...
EU drivers are way better than US drivers but that being said I agree skill does come in to it. A better way of saying it is the G80 just makes better use of the power to the wheels than previous gen but driving is subjective in a way. G80's aren't immune there's been like 5 in the past week.
I didnt watch the full video but if its about a twitchy rear that is very annoying on the m3/4 and m2c. It breaks loose in a weird way. Honestly the g80 is much better car but much uglier esp that front 🤮🤮🤮🤮
I’m on my second f80 I be honest it’s both the car is very tail happy but fora skilled driver this is great A lot of people have never driven anything like that
Thank you! I usually use a 5% warp stabilizer but it was giving me an export error with my Color grading software so ended up just taking it off for the few shots. Appreciate the help tho
Ha thats great! yea this is my wifes 2nd CX5,. first one was the normal 2.5 it was good but lacked that passing power, we cross shopped the X3 last time but she went with the Cx5 Turbo. Mazda has been impressing me lately with their build quality. How are you liking the CX5? and the M3 lol?
Good question! I wanted a sedan with kids being a possibility in the next few years having 4 doors was a must. I did try and convince the wife on a 718 but wasn't happening haha.
The M-lites at the end of the day are going to be somewhat inferior performance wise to their M counterpart. Agreed, the B58tu and G20 Xdrive would do fine on track and be competitive, but its really when you start to tinker with them or want more out of them, then you'll run into issues/ diminishing returns on mods. The suspension setups, M Xdrive, extra rigidity, Engine and tuning, wider fender, tires and fitment all make the M models what they are. Its a different strokes for different folks at the end of the day, get what makes the most sense for your use case. For my use case I chose to buy something instead of building it, because I want to track and needed a good starting platform out of the box.
@@AZM3DIA I agree with you. Why M cars are just so special! BMW would have to make the m lights a bit toned down to make the difference with the proper Ms. But the G generation bridges the gaps a bit more.
100% agree, the G series is big step up for the Mlites. There is a G42 Xdrive that runs AutoX as well and we are right around the same times, but he's a better driver than me. Might do another video on the Xdrive vs M xdrive they seem to be similar but still different when it comes to the drive logic software. Either way cant go wrong with a S58 or B58 it'll be a performer.
What a long winded video saying nothing. You bought the car because G force did what? M lite didnt do what? Yeeer. You bought it to coz you want it full stop!
Really appreciate the analysis. Thank you.
No problem, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and hope it helped.
Very nice car! Looking forward to seeing more videos about the G80 platform. All the best!
Thanks so much and thanks for watching. New vids in the works and appreciate it, cheers!
that's exactly why I also bought the G80 over the F80. keep up the good contents

G80 as an entire platform is a big improvement over the previous gen, can’t deny that.

What a useless video. You want car. You bought car. The explanations on TH-cam are pointless
I was gonna choose the F80. It had 9k miles on the clock. Went for the ‘21 G80 Base instead. Best decision I’ve ever made
Congrats man, enjoy it! I am currently waiting on a '23 X-Drive that should be arriving this month!

But the B58 TU in the new G20 M340i xdrive is setup for the track for sure, both the engine and the chassis despite being an M light!
