I’m in the market for an F80 M3 rn. Other than the F80 being one of my dream cars since 2017-2018, I also have a paid off new Camry. Since I already have my reliable daily I can justify the M3 a little more. Now if i wasn’t keeping my Camry I’d definitely get the M340I. Such good cars all around, and reliable.
Good points. I have an F80 but work from home and also have a beater car. If you’re driving 30k miles a year it makes sense to go B58. In my case, the F80 was a no brainer. I prefer the looks, stance, overall performance and even the more analogue feel of the instruments and interior. It’s such a perfect performance car in my opinion for the price point
@@bmem3 THANK you, very well said man. This is what I Lowkey wish people would understand when I say I chose b58 over f80 in a second. In your case, f80 100% 🙌🤙🏽
I drove both. Long story short, F8x handles and drives so much better and delivers WAY MORE excitement. M340i felt way boring and it's almost 5 times more comfortable than the f8x. If you want super fast straighline and gap cars on the street, go with m340 no brainer. If you want better cornering and instant fun of sliding and more exhilatering experience then cannot go wrong with f8x
I deliberated on the M340i for a long time and eventually ended up going the M3 route. It came down to just two things (one of them intangible). Manual gearbox and M3 is an icon while the M340i is relatively new. I think it will become iconic though and to me at least it is what the JDM cars used to be. Great value. Highly tunable and reliable. I got a bit of a deal on the M3 and that helped tip the scale (not much just a bit). It was an unsold new 2024 so the dealer had it up for a very low interest rate. It could easily have gone the other way though. The M340 is such a great choice.
@@Snaps42 if u wanna be smart you can easily get 25-28mpg in eco / comfort modes but for me I get 18-20 on average because I’m always in sport plus like an A hole
M340i is such a better car. F80 owners only hate on m340s cause they have to cope with a faulty crankhub, an interior that looks like it's 15 years old, and a car that sounds like a glorified Honda civic. And they complain about the handling of an m340, well you can make them handle as good as a g80 with a set of upgraded sway bars. M340👑
+a Pure 900 turbo with a good E50 tune is gapping tf out of an s55. They're 10 year old motors, and it's a wonder why performance shops tend to stay away from them.
I went ahead and picked up an m340i after asking you and a few other people, and I couldn't be happier. I test drove both and the f80 just sounded awful, clutch slipping, plus Nothing beats the sound of a b58. It's the best Non M car ever made simply put. @@f22dylandude the M340 really is the perfect car, best non M car for sure and set the bar HIGH in 2020. And there’s nothing better than a m340i launch 😈Happy for you dude it’s a nice ass ride ! Let’s goooo
lol - at the end of the day the I’ll always take the “worse” F80. Crankhub is not really an issue; the internet blows it out of proportion. B58 is stellar, I’ll give you that, and sounds great.. but nothing beats the wide body look of the F80/82. Seats are better, suspension is better, cooling is better, DCT is better. The M340 is a great daily. OP makes all the good points. You really can’t get a better do it all car, but ultimately F8X is still super reliable.
