Another enjoyable video Michael. I am really liking seeing the reference photo as well, to see how you interpret the image. Far more informative, especially for people like me who paint mainly from photos. Thank you.

I have a question. When put oil paint over acrylic blocking, it gets blotted. Maybe because acrylic is oil hungry.

Michael, I have attempted to alter 2 hog brushes similar to what I think you are saying. Neither give good results. Can you demonstrate how you trim and THIN your brushes to make the ones that do so well for you? I dont understand how you thin them. I appreciate your videos so much. Thank you 1,000 times! Roena

  • @alsypig

I am trying this technique at the moment and I'm finding it really difficult! My top layer of leaves just looks too uniform and unrealistic for one thing, and sometimes blends into a bit of a mush! I notice a difference between the end of video #65 of the acrylic under painting and the start of this where you are putting on the 'top coat' of leaves, have you applied more acrylic in the meantime or oil as the under painting looks more refined? Thanks.

When you say you use white spirits, I'm not sure what you mean. Could you show us the bottle? Do you add it directly to your paints on the palette? What is the ratio? Also, I have never heard of a 'hog brush'-could you show us the company/name of the brush you are using? When you say 'thin it down', what do you mean? Could you make a video showing what you do to 'thin it down' ? Thank you!!!

Hi, very nice trees. I still don't know how you do it. Oh well, I tune pianos and maybe some one says ,gee, I don't know how he can do that. I believe it is all in a matter of being born with the talent. When I was teaching school the counselors would have signs that said, you can be anything you want if you work hard. Now, isn't that a lot of bull shit? Ok I want to be a pro basketball player. All I have to do is work hard? I will grow to be 7ft. High so I can be a star center? Our American schools are not the best. We are a nation of spoiled brats. Have a drink on me ,Michael, you are the man, fran
