I have had my Tracer GT now for 3 months and have put on 7000 kms touring the around the Canadian Maritimes. It a brilliant motorcycle. I have owned over 20 bikes in last 40 years and the Tracer has risen to the top of my favourites list. I have been riding adventure bikes, BMW GS and Yamaha Super Tenere this last decade. After all these years of riding 2 wheel hum res, I have once again discovered the fun in motorcycling.
Hi Brian, Im in the search for new bike, and I'm looking into gs1250 , which I have about 10,000 miles on,(rent) and I know its amazing but I'm scared off repairs and maintenance. Im trying to find as much info S10 if with ecu flash will satisfy my needs for torque and speed. Did you have yours on dyno? TX!
Also like to mention, I had an FJ09 and the brake pads Yamaha's come with are horrible, if you change them with sintered EBC pads, it's a major improvement and they are a relatively cheap improvement and well worth it.
Great review. Love my GT Tracer too. I can recommend the Givi top box for it - easily fits two full face helmets and clips on and off so easily and provides a third carry case. Excellent. All the best.
Thanks for the review, I thoroughly enjoy your editing and content. I agree with most of the negative points on this bike ( I own the same model but in grey/red ) but the key issue doesn’t bother me after a year of ownership, I just approach the bike differently to insert the key. I wanted to be able to store my helmet on board so fitted a Givi rack with a 52 litre box which fits 2 full face helmets and does compromise aesthetics but I find the practicality factor outweighs this, it is a tourer after all !. I haven’t even touched on your mileage yet (4000 km) as I have 2 very young children and am needed at home, so the Dunlop tyres don’t need replacing yet but those Michelin road 5’s look good, although this summer in the Spanish mountains in hot weather the Dunlop’s didn’t do too badly. My only other negative point would be that coming from a CBR 900rr I find the top end on the Tracer leaves me wanting but I could only ride the Honda for 2 hours before needing to get off and have a stretch (I’m 6ft). To sum up I used to be a despatch rider in the uk and have done many many miles on lots of different bikes and would have loved a Tracer for the job, perfect for town and country!.
John Hobbs that engine is so good down low, but yeah, after about 3rd gear, the sport bikes are gone. Here though by the end of 3rd, you see the police and they are going to take your bike and make you go to court.
Just an option if you hate fidgeting for your keys would be digital Guard Dog. It’s basically a keyless start ignition. I got one for my xt250 because getting on and off a bike while doing door dash makes it easier. I’m really considering the tracer 900 as my second bike.
4:14 There really is more to be said about windshields. The fact that they relieve pressure on the neck and shoulders while driving on the highway and prevent the body from cooling down certainly contributes to driving comfort. But windshields undeniably cause turbulence. Driving in clean air is indeed less noisy than in turbulence - but the most silent is being in no air flow at all. So turbulence itself is not the problem, it's turbulence around the helmet. The solution in my opinion is not to get rid of your shield, but to find one that minimizes turbulence around your helmet. That may be a bit of a search and it's good to realise there is no perfect solution. In the end it comes down to what's the best compromise.
Thanks for that. I'm a long term owner of an '02 TDM900 I bought new (160,000km and counting) and have long thought the Tracer most likely as replacement for the TDM. Glad to hear your endorsement and at least I know the pitfalls now before I buy, so they'll be less a nasty surprise!
I have the 2020 Tracer GT. Always had V-Twins; this is the first bike of this style I have had; surprised how nice it rides. The optional trunk on the 2020 requires a special bracket, but the trunk comes off as easy as the side bags. Pricey, but worth it for extra storage. Can hold two helmets. Ride on!
Thank you for an excellent, thorough review. I've considered this bike as a long-distance tourer. Unfortunately the center stand design is a deal breaker for me--I once crashed (fortunately at low speed) going around a turn when the center stand lifted the rear wheel. I'm in western Pennsylvania, where twisty roads are everywhere and twistier roads not far away. I can't risk getting caught on the center stand. Otherwise it looks like a solid choice.
The problems I had with my 2019 GT is firstly it didn't come with panniers here in Thailand. They are not available in SE Asia. And the Dealerships have no way to order them. It was $1,800 extra after import tax from partzilla. The key location could be better but no problems. The seat was horrible, then upgraded with Seat Concept dot com. The chain completely worn out after 2,000 km. Yamaha does not honor the warranty at all in Thailand. The brakes barely worked. Had to pay the dealership to bleed them, no change. I bled them with 50% better than upgrade to EBC HH pads and rotors. Huge improvement. The stock suspension was completely useless even with settings maxed it would bottom out. Was all over the road, no stability. Upgraded to Ohlins transformed it from a dangerous pos to a absolute pleasure to ride. Many other add ons like Givi engine guard and and bd lights, radiator guard, k&N, Exhaust mod (see my video), Dynojet PV3 tuner... With over $20k USD in it to complete the bike how it should be from the dealership, I regret to say it was not worth it.
I’m finally looking to sell my old faithful Fazer FZS 600, it’s served me so well for 20 years, toured all over France, Switzerland and Northern Italy......the Tracer GT looks to be the perfect replacement for it, thanks for a great review and your advice on what to change and what works well
Thanks I bought a 2019 of the back of your review 👍 and I’m not regretting it thousand mile plus now it never misses a beat never let me down once 👍 ATB 👍
@@wombal177jim It won't work, and the light flashes. At times it will work, but it's dodgy at best. Even if it does work it may shut off midway. We think it's something in the wiring harness.
I found out that the high beam side is the same as the low beam, just adjusted higher, so if you don't use the high beam much, you can adjust the high beam down to match the low beam and have the high beam switched on to get both lights.
Been waiting for you review after your tour up north. Great review! IT's pretty much exactly what I was looking for and hoping for in terms of comfort, sport fun, practicality and versatility. I think I"m gonna buy this one here in San Diego and motorcycle camp and maybe swap some 80/20 tires on it and bum down all over Baja too. Again, thanks for the great review and best of luck in the future! BTW..what do you do for a living if I may ask?
If you're carrying a pillion.... you'd probably want to wind the pre-load up a little more than 1 click.... I'm surprised you could feel any difference with such a minute adjustment.
I added the fog light kit, really nice roadway illumination in the dark. Head on visibility is also much improved for oncoming traffic. I upgraded to the Yamaha touring screen & it's perfect for me at 5'6". I also did handlebar riser/setback, lower seat, lowering links, adventure pegs, top box. My #1 complaint: seat is way too tall & ground clearance to short. I've hit my center stand plenty of times!
Hi Steve Thanks for the info... The upgraded seat you got is lower than the standard one? Are you reaching the ground comfortably? Can you share a link to the seat you got?
Great review mate. I am in Sydney and own a Tracer 900 GT and absolutely love it. I have owned a lot of bikes over the years including a 2016 Multistrada 1200S and the Tracer is easily my favourite bike. Just out of curiosity, is your friends Street Triple R faster than your Tracer?
Excellent and totally sensible review (not like some others I've seen!) Agree wholeheartedly about the key but at 6ft1in I dont really have a problem with the screen, it set at its lowest so I too prefer the wind but its not turbulent (unless behind a truck!), also get the same issued with the centre stand grounding on some corners with my missus on the back but try to ramp up the rear suspension, but as Im 17.5 stone I don't think that helps ! As far as the chain is concerned, I would recommend an automatic chain oiler. Have had Scotoilers for years on other bikes but this time I have a Tutoro which is a lot cheaper and less hassle to fit (no need for a vacuum line) and it helps with the chain longevity and noise. I also have a hugger extender to try and keep the spray off my missus but waiting for the delivery of a separate Givi Splash Guard so will see if that helps as well. Finally I have a Give Rack and Kappa Top box as well as the Givi Tanklok Bag so plenty of luggage space for our trips to the West Coast of Scotland. Again thanks for the sensible report !
Russell Quinlan thanks for tuning in. A few of the guys commenting said you can shave the rubber atop on the kickstand and that will get it out of the way.
Another great real world review. Turn bars to left as if to lock, key is easy to access. FJR panniers are a direct fit for more volume at the expense of looks. Rubber topped pegs(old sportsbike style) are a bit nicer if you tour.
Hi Sir !!! 60Sver - thanks for the information , I'm looking forward to get one . Still saving my money for it but u gave me great idea which big bike to buy. Thanks always keep safe God bless u and ur family
Regarding the rear top box from Shad your buddy has and you mentioned. Yamaha has realy nice top box with its own discrete rack that fits instead of the silver pillion hand rails. They look almost as the stock ones just a little extended. The top box itself then clicks onto the rack and you can match the key barrel to your ignition. One key for all. They don't look anything as hideous as Shad. I bought the system with the bike from the dealer. Have a look into it.
Agree with you about the colors, can't understand why Yamaha decided change the colors and remove this one! I missed one bike with this color the rest options at the dealership are just not that beautiful in my opinion. Completely blue one is nice as well, bit this bike looks so different in different colors!
Regarding center stand, trim off the stop rubbers abit more than half then it will be done, Regarding key place use a handle bar raising if you are not too short then both the position and key place will be better
Great review, I've done the same mileage and concur with your findings, haven't done two up yet as I was single when I bought it, I've got the lowering bones to be fitted for next year as I'm a shortarse at 5'5" and that bothers me for 2 up, also my lady is a little heavier than me so I'd like my feet planted, slightly concerned with the centre stand scraping but I'll take it off if that's an issue. Looking forward to a review on the mods on your XSR, all the best from Wales, UK.
My lowering links came with an adjustable side stand as the stock one is too long after lowering. My gal also greatly appreciates the topbox backrest. The center stand clearance is a more serious issue for me when 2-up riding.
Great review. I am considering purchasing a 2020 GT. Haven't ridden in 40 years. Did you have any concerns with suspension with wife on back? I believe with wife helmets, cases we are appoaching 390 lbs. Thanks, Manuel
It should be ok. It has a very low passenger rating, but dial up the rear shock and you should be fine. My wife and I are just under that number and we had no issues.
Enjoyed your review. I fitted a new Givi rack to take my used Kappa top box. Looks OK but was going for functionality. Love the triple cylinder CP3 engine. Just wants to be ridden all the time. It's also surprisingly stable and comfortable despite its 500 lbs. I feel confident handling it at low speeds and slow turns. Yes it looks better with the panniers on. Thanks again for an informative review.
Nice video, I have the same bike with nearly 10k miles in the UK, agree with most things you mention, but my bike has footpeg vibrations at motorway speeds which is really annoying, so you have to slow down or go way over the speed limits to get away from the vibrations, and the brakes are adequate but no more, if you start pushing this bike hard the brakes are pretty poor and combined with budget suspension the ride is pretty lively to say the least. But for most people this is a great bike and the new 2021 model will be out soon with lots of updates 😁😁.
Duncan Blanchard that footpeg problem can be solved with some rubber foot pegs. I feel that while the suspension and brakes are not up to sport bike standards, they will fit 97% of riders. Keep piling that mileage on.
Yamaha adventure pegs help alot with damping foot vibes. Steel BBs in the handlebar with foam over-grips help the hands. I also find that vibes are noticeably less above 5.5K & below 4.5K, so I choose my gear selection accordingly.
Thanks for the review! I am considering this bike as the next one, along with a BMW F900XR. I had a test drive of both of them, and I agree with your conclusions about Tracer (I hope the will fix the windshield on 2021 model). You didn't mention one thing, and that is quickshifter. Do you use it?
Best regards from Czechia. What the hell does BC means?
I have currently got an xsr900, the seat is very uncomfortable, worst seat out of the 26 bikes I've owned! When I bought it I immediately got the seat reshaped and additional foam added, it made a big difference but with my bad back I am considering buying another vstrom 1050 or maybe this 900gt, I need more comfort. Cheers and merry Xmas!
Thanks alot! great informative review!! Can you please comment on buzz/vibrations from foot pegs/handlebar on highway speeds? Is this an issue in this model? I do alot of highway riding so its a concern...
Depending on where you live the price hike is substantial, so my personal thought is that you don’t get enough to warrant that price increase. However, the did fix some issues that were annoying on the 20 like foot peg placement and a much better windscreen. The electronics are also updated along with some extra payload. Other than that I can’t see them much different in the power and handling.
I am considering a tracer 900 but like to ride logging roads too. Is it suitable for this ? I am 61yrs old, 5-6 tall. I just bought a BMW R1200 GS but find it too heavy. KW in New Brunswick.
I have not, however the bike is a bit twitchy compared to the Ninja or other sport tourers. I sometimes think these guys have cheap cell phone holders mounted by one of the bars and that could cause some issues at high speed. I’ve had mine over 200 kms/hr. One thing that made the front end more stable was putting on pilot road 5s.
I’m enjoying my new Tracer GT. I need to set the suspension front and rear for sag and comp/dampening on front only. Not done this before so another video or quick guide would be appreciated. Thanks
Don't waist your time with the stock suspension. It's absolute junk. Aka fake suspension. Even in the manual it says to replace after about 8,000 miles because it is not serviceable. My shock was blown out after 5,000 miles and could not be set up for my weight of 83 kg. Upgraded to Ohlins with 15 weight oil in the forks. Huge improvement!
The newer ones had quite the price differences, so I would have tried at the time to get the 20 model. Now that the new inventory is gone on the 20s I’m not sure what pricing is like on the used bikes.
great review, it seems to be a common complaint from anyone with a touring or adventure bike, the windshield is too noisy, or turbulent, or never works right, then they either cut it off, or get a short one, and like it much better. Apparently our only choices are 1) Get a humongous aftermarket windshield or 2) reduce/remove it and get clean air all day.
I’ve always loved naked bikes. If they could just make one with a decent sized tank, luggage options, cruise control and heated grips for around 12 grand...I would be sold.
@@sixthisoverdrive There is a safety recall on the front brake switch. 18,207 Yamaha units effected! Causes the brake light to stay on. Also effects the curise control!
@@davejr2979 I actually had my brake switch replaced under warranty for that very problem, about 2 weeks after I got the recall in the mail, and now I have to go and get the parts switched again!
7000km on my bike. I agree with almost everything. I haven't had any problems with the stock tire. But I will replace them with Road 5s soon enough. 2018-2020 models had a tremendous value. If you are looking at this now just save up for a Verseys 1000. GT 900 is $17,000 now.
byever1 I was really shocked at the price change this year. Before that the gt900 was a no brainer, now they’ve moved to a class with stiffer competition.
No doubt that the Tracer 900 is a friggin' fun bike to ride. I concour that the motor is awesome - It's so snappy and it feels like it's a lot more powerful than it actually is. On that note I just sold my Tracer 900 (standard - non GT) and bought a Kawasaki Versys 1000 (again). I have a few reasons. Mainly as you mention - but firstly - the windscreen is SO BAD. I've tried every windscreen in the world for this bike - they all suck. Puigs Racing Screen is the best alternative but I ride a lot in bad weather and thats just not gonna cut it for me. Secondly the bike is just too darn lively - the rear suspension is too soft regardless of setting and it just feels like it's all over the place. Also it feels very unstable on the freeway at higher speeds. Putting on good tires helped, but it's still a bit uneasy for me. Thirdly Yamaha really went below the bar in general build quality. It's a cheap bike to buy and after 10.000km in all weather situations it definitely shows. The paint on the swing arm is really sensitive to stones and other muck getting thrown around in that area. The before mentioned wind screen flaps about like its mountet on elastic bands. The front and underside of the motor looks terrible after riding in rain and other bad weather (and I don't even ride in gravel). I had a Honda CBF600 which I rode in same conditions for 6 years and 50.000km and the Tracer almost looks worse than that bike did. Other than these gripes - again - I do love the engine. It is SO fun to feel the snappiness of that 120 degree crank motor - cross planey feeling of linear power. Just awesome. I'm just gonna have to confess it was not the bike for me. I've owned Honda CBF 600SA, Kawasaki Versys 1000 2014, BMW R1200GSA 2010, Tracer 900 2019 and now back to a Kawasaki Versys 1000 2015 (reg. 1. 2017). I guess I wish they put that motor on a better chassis and put some more energy and money into build quality - I'd consider buying one again.
As a new bike the Versys is almost double the price of a new Tracer here in Denmark. The change only cost me about 2500$ so it was a steal. A new Versys costs about 31000$ for the cheapest model and the Tracer about 21000$.
Nice video, I'm a beginner motorcyclist, at age 48 end am small 166cm,, so I drive daily to work in the city( Commuting) and also the highway and sometimes during a weekend round of recreational so, don't like Adventure such an engine, love Naked bike so is this a right motorcycle for me?? or MT 09 of MT10
Well, it's different than the MT 09 or the MT 10, but on long trips that's a good thing. It really depends what you want to do with the bike. If you are going shorter distances or just around town, I would probably stay with the fun factor and go MT 09, if you need to haul luggage and passengers, then the Tracer GT is right for you. You can also lower the seat height on the Tracer. Thanks for watching.
@@sixthisoverdrive thanks for your response and advice, personal choice is MT09 or MT 10 but if I would go away for a weekend or a few days to vacation, don't know that MT09 is good enough?
@@petroosabdollahian1648 I've used it for 6000 kms trips and it worked great. (had to bungie on luggage) You need to be aware of fuel stops as you can only get 300 kms MAX to a tank. The MT 10 is way worse for gas. It's hard to plan things out it's so bad.
@@sixthisoverdrive Thanks a lot, surprising hear all good stories about MT10 so now is clear, as soon corona is over take a test ride whit with new tracer 9 or GT. thx
I moved from Vancouver to Toronto and I was so happy that I that I was done with ICBC insurance prices. I used to pay 200 bucks for full coverage for GSXR 1000 Back in Vancouver when I was 19. Now I'm 28 and I bought a MT 07. They charge me 480 fucking dollars Per month. Fucking crazy. Then I decided to trade the MT07 for the new Katana because the MT07 is so crap and Slow. Called my insurance to get a qoute they said it'll be 700 a month. Absolute fucking robbery. Then I got a qoute For tracer 900 and my insurance company said it will be $300 a month. Think I'm gonna go with a tracer.
Gregory Breen Depends. It’s massive fun below 100 kmh and is fairly easy to wheelie. With that bigger engine comes abundant power, but also it comes with an abundance in weight and more price. If you are looking for a bike that never leaves town this isn’t the bike for you. If you are touring, (very slowly)it would be great as the extra weight would bring extra stability.
all you are saying i cant tell is true. i got 30k for 2 years. Only thing i don't i agree is about hard cases for me they are useless ... Tracer 900 gt broth me a lot of joy ...

I am a huge Yamaha fan, Have 2 and I bet this Tracer is as top notch as the others but the Tracer is an ugly bike. If they improved the looks they would sell like hotcakes!!
@@chrisvantassel8867 I understand, I don't like the looks of choppers :). We all have good taste. We would all buy the same bikes otherwhise. That is no fun.
Chris Van Tassel right? I know. They are even uglier than dual sports. I think the ninja 1000 strikes a good balance of style and comfort, but it’s almost 3000 bucks more for close to the same performance.

I’m finally looking to sell my old faithful Fazer FZS 600, it’s served me so well for 20 years, toured all over France, Switzerland and Northern Italy......the Tracer GT looks to be the perfect replacement for it, thanks for a great review and your advice on what to change and what works well
BazzerObama I know you are going to love the motor! Thanks for watching.
Thanks I bought a 2019 of the back of your review 👍 and I’m not regretting it thousand mile plus now it never misses a beat never let me down once 👍 ATB 👍
Wombal it’s great, but my cruise is acting up again. Hoping for a fix.
sixthisoverdrive i hope it still in warranty have you been on any tracer forum’s someone on there maybe able to help you out 👍 hopefully
Wombal my mechanic is working on it under warranty. Just not sure what the issue is.
sixthisoverdrive how is it playing up is it working at all like what is the issue with it 👍
@@wombal177jim It won't work, and the light flashes. At times it will work, but it's dodgy at best. Even if it does work it may shut off midway. We think it's something in the wiring harness.
Great honest review, thanks I’m gonna sub now👍
A Madstad windscreen solves the noise/buffeting problem. It's engineered to handle air flow and turbulence.
R W thanks for letting us know.
About the center stand. I replaced the original rubber grommet with thinner one and the center stand is now at least 25mm higher than it was.
Rastko Rastic I’m looking at doing this also.
Awesome review!
I found out that the high beam side is the same as the low beam, just adjusted higher, so if you don't use the high beam much, you can adjust the high beam down to match the low beam and have the high beam switched on to get both lights.
That’s great to know actually as the lights are really simple to adjust! Thanks.
K EE thanks for watching. You’ll be happy with the bike. I am a local digital advertising consultant, and general contractor.
I found the stock seat to be horrible and much to low. Seat Concepts upgrade fixed that problem.
Hi Steve
Thanks for the info...
Good review. I'm looking seriously at the GT and currently have an Xsr900 like you! Agree that the engine is a beaut and it's great value. 👍
Placebo Effect hard to top the package, although next year the price is going up considerably.
Old Smokie all minor stuff. Thanks for watching.
Very informative review!
Just what I needed.
Thanks!
Laz1Go awesome, I’m glad these reviews are helping someone. Thanks for commenting.
Good Job Mate, Just a recommendation when you talk about each part please also focus on those parts with camera it gives more attention on viewers 😊🙏
Thanks for watching, good advice.
Hi Sir !!! 60Sver - thanks for the information , I'm looking forward to get one . Still saving my money for it but u gave me great idea which big bike to buy. Thanks always keep safe God bless u and ur family
Thanks. Hope you find one you like
Great review. This bike is on the top of my list.
It is a great bike. There is a recall on that cruise since I put this video out, make sure if you buy one used that it is done. Thanks for watching.
Petr Seifert yes, it is much better, I know another local here who has it.
Excellent review, thanks!! Seriously thinking the 2020 or 21 will be next bike.
2021 jumped up in price about 2000 bucks here in Canada.
Great video usually American videos for us Scots don’t add up but this is spot on!
Paul Watson it’s because I’m Canadian eh. Lol
Haha there you go That’s why it’s a good review! Calling you American is probably like calling me English so my apologies lol
Agree with you about the colors, can't understand why Yamaha decided change the colors and remove this one! I missed one bike with this color the rest options at the dealership are just not that beautiful in my opinion. Completely blue one is nice as well, bit this bike looks so different in different colors!
Pavel Mullo I think it looks so different because of the second colour on those side panels. They can either blend or pop out. Thanks for watching.
Regarding center stand, trim off the stop rubbers abit more than half then it will be done, Regarding key place use a handle bar raising if you are not too short then both the position and key place will be better
bahadır bulut thanks...I’ll at least try the center stand. I find the handle bars on the high side already.
@@sixthisoverdrive you are welcome, I have meant to use bar raiser not only change of the position
Chris thanks Chris. I’ll work on getting an XSR vid out by the end of the season.
My lowering links came with an adjustable side stand as the stock one is too long after lowering. My gal also greatly appreciates the topbox backrest. The center stand clearance is a more serious issue for me when 2-up riding.
Im using sw-motech top box and the bracket is very nice..it looks good on the bike because the bracket is not big
fuad890219 thanks...I’ll check it out.
The key is a pita. But to make it a little better, turn the caps around that hold the bars on. That allows a little better access. Great review 👍
Ed Callahan yes...thanks...I’ll have to take the time and do that some day.
Or, just turn the handlebars to the left. Now the ignition switch is out in the open for easy access.
@@RW-ix2to Or simply rotate the caps and not have to rotate the handlebars.
@@RW-ix2to Thats the way I do it on my GT, easy as with no problems. Cheers.
You might know this, but did you know you can cancel your cruise control on this bike by rotating the throttle forward?
Josh Miller yes, or by hitting the brakes or using the clutch.
Michael Keong yes it’s very nimble. I’ve had a few Harley guys try it and they can’t believe how light it feels.
Igor Pokorný British Columbia (a province) Quickshifter is up only. Works ok. I’ve seen better and worse.
I touched my peg limiters several times without touching the center stand on the tarmac... I'm sure that was a big bump.
It was indeed...I’m surprised it didn’t lift the wheel.
I see you also have the XSR900. I am looking at both. If you had to choose between having one of the two, which one would you have? And why? Thanks
A bit around 5 to 6. Never really noticed it at all just droning down the highway.
@@sixthisoverdrive thx! 👍
Great video. Hopefully you are gonna show that XSR off. Like to see all the mods folks due to their bikes 👍👍
DAVE ARGENTINA thanks, hope to get one out by season end.
I have the FJ09. I'm on the fence on getting the Tracer GT. Good video.
Stonehands 024 the cruise and heated grips are the only essentials that you are missing. Thanks for watching.
Top class review thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hello mate. Thank you for the review. What do you think about the 2021 model?
Depending on where you live the price hike is substantial, so my personal thought is that you don’t get enough to warrant that price increase. However, the did fix some issues that were annoying on the 20 like foot peg placement and a much better windscreen. The electronics are also updated along with some extra payload. Other than that I can’t see them much different in the power and handling.
@@sixthisoverdrive I don't know why did they put that ugly dashboard. I hate it 🤣
Thank you for the quick reply
I am considering a tracer 900 but like to ride logging roads too. Is it suitable for this ? I am 61yrs old, 5-6 tall. I just bought a BMW R1200 GS but find it too heavy. KW in New Brunswick.
It’s ok for that. Might want to change the tires and get some protection for the rad and oil filter.
very nice & gd review👍👍
Thank you.
Really enjoyed Ur review, Thx mate
Xaralambos Psihogios Glad you enjoyed it.
I've heard some tracer 900 owners complain of high speed instability (>120 kph front end gets squirrelly). Have you notice this?
I have not, however the bike is a bit twitchy compared to the Ninja or other sport tourers. I sometimes think these guys have cheap cell phone holders mounted by one of the bars and that could cause some issues at high speed. I’ve had mine over 200 kms/hr. One thing that made the front end more stable was putting on pilot road 5s.
I can neither confirm or deny that I have taken this bike to its max speed (125mph) without any issues 😎
I’m enjoying my new Tracer GT. I need to set the suspension front and rear for sag and comp/dampening on front only. Not done this before so another video or quick guide would be appreciated. Thanks
David Postin my mechanic usually sets it for me when I put on new tires.
Check out Dave Moss suspension tuning on u-tube.
senior rider I’ll check it out.
Do you recommand invest in the new model 2021-2022 or the old one 2019-2020? Thx you
The newer ones had quite the price differences, so I would have tried at the time to get the 20 model. Now that the new inventory is gone on the 20s I’m not sure what pricing is like on the used bikes.
Hey. Let me ask.. for winter conditions. What tire would you recommend?
Neeko Z where...we don’t ride in our winter.

@sixthisoverdrive much appreciated for the reply. I'm currently considering the same bike myself. Great video
great review thanks!
Glideman thanks for watching.
Key placements better than a cruiser on the left hand side, ive never understood that I have two like that and I cant stand it
750Rocketman good point...I have seen way worse lol.
well done sir,
great review, it seems to be a common complaint from anyone with a touring or adventure bike, the windshield is too noisy, or turbulent, or never works right, then they either cut it off, or get a short one, and like it much better.
+1 on cruise control. Once you have it you’ll always want it.
Gerald Feschuk just getting mine repaired under warranty. Some brake sensor that I have to wait till January for.
@@sixthisoverdrive that sucks. I’ve been lucky my MTS 2015 Ducati has been good after 30k km.
God look at those houses
7000km on my bike. I agree with almost everything. I haven't had any problems with the stock tire. But I will replace them with Road 5s soon enough. 2018-2020 models had a tremendous value. If you are looking at this now just save up for a Verseys 1000. GT 900 is $17,000 now.
byever1 I was really shocked at the price change this year. Before that the gt900 was a no brainer, now they’ve moved to a class with stiffer competition.
Can I ask what tyres you fitted please👍
Michelin pilot gt. Absolutely brilliant
Jakob Borg Andersen you’ve got a great alternative in the versys. I love that bike. Unfortunately it is 5000 dollars more here.
As a new bike the Versys is almost double the price of a new Tracer here in Denmark. The change only cost me about 2500$ so it was a steal. A new Versys costs about 31000$ for the cheapest model and the Tracer about 21000$.
u right about the windshield
FAHAD ALZAHRANI right? Thanks for watching.
For 2021 they moved that rear peg so that your heals don't touch up on it.🙂
foolish coyote. Good to know.

Lol...you should try Saskatchewan!
Is this too much engine if you Never take it over 100kph?
Gregory Breen Depends. It’s massive fun below 100 kmh and is fairly easy to wheelie. With that bigger engine comes abundant power, but also it comes with an abundance in weight and more price. If you are looking for a bike that never leaves town this isn’t the bike for you. If you are touring, (very slowly)it would be great as the extra weight would bring extra stability.
@@sixthisoverdrive if I wanted less power how dramatically less in “B mode”?
It makes the bottom end sluggish, if you twist it all the way you still get the same top end. Great for control down low though.
@@sixthisoverdrive thank you for the notes. You 15000km test ride is better than the 20min I'll get from a dealer. Really helpful
