I've had my 2015 FJ09 for 7 years and 80,000 K+. I did have the engine rebuilt early this year, my fault for a mistake adjusting the valves. I considered the Tracer 9 GT+, but my 2015 already has all the upgrades. suspension, seat, windshield, ECU, brakes and exhaust. Other than ABS and traction control, it's all manual and I wouldn't change a thing. I daily commute on it, but have also taken it on some long trips. Yours is the best video of its kind I've seen.
Because of this in depth review, I am now the proud owner of the FJ-09. Previously loved with added upgrades I didn't have to pay for... Cheers to the excellent job pointing out the pros with cons and some contentious similarities. About 5000 miles in the saddle so far. Only complaint is the death wobble at about 95+mph 153kph empty. So loaded up greatly increased it. With that being said, I do NOT regret my decision. It's hard not to be a hooligan though...
Love almost everything about your review and am looking for an FJ-09 for my wife. I really think you should mount your camera on your helmet. With your solid windscreen we miss some beautiful scenery.
I own a 2020 Tracer 900GT. I tried a 9GT last fall and see no reason to change. The small increase in torque is not really noticeable and I honestly prefer the looks of my bike. The up/down quick shifter is the only thing I see as a real upgrade. I will be keeping my 900GT, probably for a long time.
Good review. Nice trip. I’ve owned an mt09 in the past - traded it for a speed triple 1050 rs though. Missing the cheaper maintenance on the old yamaha. I think I want something w more touring capability and I am considering these bikes but also adventure bikes too. Not convinced yet. Cheers! 😎🏍🤙☀️
is 20.000 - 30.000km considered a lot of km's? i'm looking to buy one of these as my first bike (used) and for a car 30.000km is nothing but i have no knowledge about bike mileage
I don’t think 30,000kms for a bike is a lot. He’s Canadian like myself, most of us ride for pure pleasure maybe 6months a year (due to winter) so the mileage is low. If you look at England, some guys ride year round and will put 100,000 miles (160,000 kms) on a bike before it’s retired.
I am getting quite shakey , so for me it’s the Tracer and it’s cruise control and luggage. Now I think the new XSR 2022 has cruise, I would definitely take the XSR. But, because of my shakey hands I have sold my XSR and my one bike is the Tracer 900gt.
The newer 9Gt is so damn ugly. I wish they would go back to the original Tracer 900 with shorter swingarm and the Super Tenere Display. The new Display looks like a scuba diver and the Display of the 900GT doesn't fit to the design of the bike. The Super Tenere Display was perfect for it. They just made a good bike worse. I own a 900GT but wouldn't buy the 9GT.

Thanks…I try! There is not a whole lot of difference from the first fj’s and the new gt’s.
Hi. Can you elaborate on your valve adjustment mistake and the consequences?

I read that the death wobble at high speeds is due to an incorrectly adjusted preload between the back and front suspension. You might look into that.

Thank you for your input. Having someone who has ridden both bikes helps.
I still want to own one of these at some point.
If only there was room in the garage and budget for 4 or 5 bikes.

If you could only have one bike. Which one would you choose between the XSR900 and the Tracer 9GT and why?

Hey im planning to buy a tracer900 gt with 25k kms is it good buy?
How much, what year and what currency?
What mpg did you average on this trip?
It’s usually 5 l/100 kms or under

The only Tracer that has factory installed CC is the tracer gt
I’m pretty sure all of this years have cc. Here in Canada at least. I’ll have to look it up now.
