Christopher Cervantes i agree, he might not have been the most serious, but he sure was great In that film. I'd like him to reprise the role someday, maybe in an animated film.
Out of these live- action versions, the 'Gotham' one is my favorite, though I don't like how completely merciless and unsympathetic he becomes after the first episode. My all- time favorite portrayals of Mr. Freeze, though, were in the Animated Series with the late Michael Ansara voicing him, and the 'Arkham' games with Maurice La Marche voicing him. In Adam West's autiobio/ memoir, 'Back to the Batcave,' he says that Otto Preminger (The second of the three actors who played Mr. Freeze on the show) was a real jerk behind the scenes and nearly unbearable to work with.
I think it's just you man. Aside from the god awful one liners and cringey acting, it was a very poor adaptation of how Mr. Freeze is actually presented in the comics. He is a cerebral character, not so physically imposing the way Arnold made him to be in the film. I've always felt Sir Patrick Stewart could have done a superb job in the role instead of that cheesy acting body builder.
I never heard of the Otto Preminger Freeze before and i also didn´t know that he used to be played with a german accent in the early portrayals... I would never have guessed that Schwarzenegger was actually the second Austrian actor with a weird accent to portray the same role, it´s weirdly specific, almost as if the casting people for the Schuhmacher movie went back to the series in considering Arnold....
My favorites: 1 George Sanders 2 Arnold Schwarzenegger 3 Eli Wallach ^ All really close 4 Michael Ansara (Batman TAS) 5 Otto Preminger 6 Nathan Darrow...
I’m glad someone else appreciates George Sanders’ version! Although he looks the least like the character from a physical perspective, his mannerisms to me best reflect the character of all the live action versions.
I still don't know why they rag on Batman, Robin, so much. Perfect representation of the Batman series he fell in love with in the 1960s and this video represents that fact perfectly ❤
The most unexpectedly believable of all the actors to portray Freeze will always be the exceptionally understated yet powerful performance given the role by George Sanders.
He was very much into the hippie/LSD culture. And the people into that stuff said this a lot. He made an extremely odd, cult classic movie called 'Skidoo' which shows you how tripped out he was. th-cam.com/video/sd6OxYZigFU/w-d-xo.html
Didn't know that there was a third version of Victor Freeze in the 1960s Batman TV Show starring the late great actor Adam West only knew of George & Eli but all in all though Arnold is my Mister Freeze no matter what in Batman & Robin (1998) was a fan of his comic relief as he got into the memorable song of a scene called I'm Mister Snow I Make Everything Feel So Cold I'm Too Much he was great in it from start to finish when all is said and-or done :D
Also interesting to note that in the 60’s show, his civilian identity was known as “Dr. Schimmel” or “Shivel” and was later changed to “Victor Fries” when Paul Dini brilliantly revamped his origin for Batman the animated series. Also, we have the 60’s show to thank for the name, “Mr. Freeze”. Prior to that he was known as “Mr. Zero” in the comics.
Had Arnold Schwarzenegger had been picked earlier to play Mr freeze under director Tim Burton that directed batman and batman returns then it would've been a better performance and well received from the critics.
more like a devolution of Mr. Freeze, for Batman Animated series brought Mr Freeze to life, along with the games, showing more depth to Mr Freeze character than any of these media could ever do.
Dudes who ever made this, u forgot the most important version, the animated one from batman the animated series, the one series that practically reinvented Mr. Freeze into a a shakespearean villian. they made him into one of the best villians of all time.
Nolan’s realistic tone by depicting Ra’s, Joker and Bane as real world terrorists who attacked Gotham was what made them work in his films. All the other villains with superpowers would be too unrealistic.
At the very beginning when Schwarzenegger as Freeze is singing I'm Mr.White Christmas, where did you find that audio? That's the first time I've heard that!
To all of those unitelligent ignoramous who do not read the xenomorph/alien comics OR the movie, silence youself! Xenomporphs are male and Female, some would even call them "asexual". So all of those desperate idiots who want attention and are trying to make all of them either LGBT, or only female. Go die in a Yautja xenomorph breeding lair.
I even went to go see it in theaters with my parents and had two versions of the books 📚 plus a lunch box with the penguin and batman ,and the cup in it also.
Jack Huston, Alec Newman, Aden Young, and William Salyers would Made Great Award Winning Actors in starring roles as Mr. Freeze/ Dr. Victor Fries in Live Action Batman Movies
Hopefully, the upcoming DC Universe (2025-) will have the best live-action Mr. Freeze as the definitive one in the ranks of DCAU and Arkhamverse Mr. Freeze.
Arnold Schwarzenegger may have been a podcasting choice as Mr Freeze. But, at least he was a lot of fun to watch for being hilariously over the top and delightfully hammy.
Mine is Gorshin's Riddler. Simply unmatched with the diabolical laughter and going from laughing to frightening psycopath within seconds. Oh, and the riddles are good too. A close second would be 2008 Joker on film. Then in 3rd place Vincent Price's Egghead.
Arnie was fine, he just could've got better material as Mr Freeze. But nothing will ever top the late Michael Ansara's performance in the DCAU - the best portrayal of a DC character almost always comes from the DCAU
Arnie was the best with otto preminger. They should really keep MR Freeze German as it fits the character perfectly. AS far as the latest show it feels very cheap and every character is the worst in my book.
Who remembers German/Austrian actor Curt Jurgens!? He would've made a brilliant Mr Freeze opposite Adam West's Batman. I wonder if they ever approached him to play the part.
I sure would love to see the Mr Freeze costume from the 1960s Batman tv show the 1997 batman and robin film and the Gotham tv show be made into real dress up costumes with bonus freeze guns included

Nathan Darrow was really good on Gotham. Not used enough, sadly. All the villians on that show were perfectly cast.
I loved Otto Premingers Mr Freeze ever since I was a kid he was also a very accomplished Director I love all of his films....
Arnold could have been a serious and scary Mr. Freeze with Tim Burton as the director. Wasted potential.
Joel shumacker directed Batman and Robin, soo
Well, Joe Schumacher could have made him dark but Warner Bros wanted to make one big giant toy commercial. There was potential there.
He created willy wonka
I always thought it was dumb to have Bane in the movie but the official most buffed man alive is cast in another role
Burton's Freeze would have been more like Michael Ansara in the film I think
2:25 - "HOW DID YOU FIND THE ENTRANCE TO THE ICE LADDERS!?"
"Oh darling! Stop spitting ICE CUBES!"
**Licks lips**
LMFAOOOO 😂😂😂
I find it amusing how everything is the ice version of something in his lair. :D
The 1997 was the best (Arnold)
Edit probably the coolest
well tas clearly the best on though but yeah that one was funny
Nah Nathan Darrow was the best mr freeze
If Rutger Hauer was still around, he would've been a great Mr. Freeze.
I always thought Patrick Stewart could have made a good Mr freeze
You’re dang right
What about mads mikkelsen?
He would've channeled Michael Ansara's Mr. Freeze with a touch of Shakespeare.
Ну чё любишь мистера фриза?

1:15 "Everybody in the pool, *please*!" "Move, *please*."
Dang, Did villains actually have manners back then?
a question, WHY THE POOL IS TOO SMALL?
looks more like some fountain without a fountain 😂
@@ludaast.6591 i think the real question is why is the pool green?
I don’t care what people say! Arnold was a brilliant Mr. Freeze!!
Christopher Cervantes i agree, he might not have been the most serious, but he sure was great In that film. I'd like him to reprise the role someday, maybe in an animated film.
Christopher Cervantes agreed
Agree
agreed
YES! Team Arnold mr. freeze.

He catchphrase, "WILD!" was nearly unbearable too.
Am I the only one who liked Arnie as Mr. Freeze?
Nope. The Movie was bad, but he was Great.
Remove the stupid one liners and put a better writting he would have done a great job because he has the phisical presence
Nope I liked it to imo its was really good but then again Arnold is one of my favorit actors
He was an ok Mr freeze
I think it's just you man. Aside from the god awful one liners and cringey acting, it was a very poor adaptation of how Mr. Freeze is actually presented in the comics. Arnold’s mr freeze wasn’t that bad
I agree completely!
allow me to break the ice.
people don't hate arnold they hate batnips
E Plus alright you. CHILL.
He was good. The movie was bad but he wasn’t
Arnold's voice + Nathan Jarrow's acting = The best Mr.Freeze
Or.. just cast a new freeze for the batman 2
1960s mr freeze was a guy in a astronaut suit who painted their face with blue paint
It’s called acting - the suit was supercooled to keep Freeze’s body temperature below -50. The blue makeup gave effect.

George Sanders voiced Shere Khan in the original Jungle Book after he played Mr. Freeze in Adam West’s Batman
I still don't know why they rag on Batman, Robin, so much. Perfect representation of the Batman series he fell in love with in the 1960s and this video represents that fact perfectly ❤
30 years late.😐
*Interesting fact:* George Sanders was also the voice of Shere Khan in *The Jungle Book* (1967).
Arnold had such a cool suit, and in the sad moments he was perfect....
But those ice puns...... god fucking dammit man!! That ruined it!! xD
he is only good in arkham series and the animated series in my opinion.
but he is ok in gotham though.
Ok and good are two different things
i know , ok it wasnt bad but it wasnt very good too
white_OWL exatly
white_OWL George Sanders from the 66 series was good also for me
The most unexpectedly believable of all the actors to portray Freeze will always be the exceptionally understated yet powerful performance given the role by George Sanders.
Batman & Robin is for me the worst Batman Movie, but Arnold was Great and Batgirl was H😘T
not as hot as poison ivy though
So what 60series was goffy to
Michael Serota she was realy hot.
Yeah
Claude Speed not as hot as Batgirl
The 1st freeze's hide out
kinda looks more comfortable and luxurious
Like a ski resort 🏂⛷🎿

Felix Cardobski wakanda fah EVAH
2:23 WTF IS THIS 😂😂😂😂😂
If I had a dollar for every time Mr Freeze made a pun in Batman & Robin, I could buy a car
Please Do The Penguin
Nathan Jarrow (in Gotham) is the best Mr. Freeze, of course!
Gotham 4 life they did the worst for his outfit. Mr Freeze shouldn’t look like the Space Dad from Megamind
Gotham 4 life nah Arnold is the best
I wonder why Preminger's Freeze always yelled "WILD!!!!"
He was very much into the hippie/LSD culture. And the people into that stuff said this a lot. He made an extremely odd, cult classic movie called 'Skidoo' which shows you how tripped out he was.

That song was the Snow Miser theme from the wonderful classic Christmas special 'The Year WIthout a Santa Claus.'
I’m pretty sure it’s Victor Fries

I thought Arnold was great as Freeze
What kind of one
Had Arnold Schwarzenegger had been picked earlier to play Mr freeze under director Tim Burton that directed batman and batman returns then it would've been a better performance and well received from the critics.
Mr Freeze must have been a pain in the ass character for the directors. 😂
Mr. Freeze? That Man's not Hot 😂😂😂 I like that Character!! Arnie was great!
Otto perminger will always be my Mr Freeze.
The mr freeze at 1.52 i recognised straight away as Tuco from the good the bad and the ugly
more like a devolution of Mr. Freeze, for Batman Animated series brought Mr Freeze to life, along with the games, showing more depth to Mr Freeze character than any of these media could ever do.
I am old school . I liked the venerable Director Otto Preminger the best as Mr. Freeze . George Sanders was second best !
Dudes who ever made this, u forgot the most important version, the animated one from batman the animated series, the one series that practically reinvented Mr. Freeze into a a shakespearean villian. they made him into one of the best villians of all time.
This is Live action freeze 😉
Cortoon and animation freeze will come in future.
Okay, i can live with that :)
Eli Wallach as Mr. Tuco Freeze really cool.
It would have been difficult for Nolan to incorporate him given how Innately camp he is as a villain.
Nolan’s realistic tone by depicting Ra’s, Joker and Bane as real world terrorists who attacked Gotham was what made them work in his films. All the other villains with superpowers would be too unrealistic.
Arnold's version makes so much sense when you see the one from the 60s tv show lmao
I like Nathan Darrow The best I wish they would use him as Mr. freeze in a live action Batman movie that would be great but we'll see what happens
👍🤓
Daumn so many ppl hating Arnie's role, yall need to "chill out" & stop being so "cold" towards his "cool" puns in the film.
I love Gotham's version. The character became a bit darker.
LOVE THE MUSIC!!!!
Mr freeze heart of ice 💙
"Oh darling stop spitting ice cubes".
I like the arnold mr freeze sounding song 👍
2:24 hahahahahhahahahahahahaahhahahah xD
Somebody imagine how Ron Peelman could made mr freeze?
0:01 what version is it of the song
At the very beginning when Schwarzenegger as Freeze is singing I'm Mr.White Christmas, where did you find that audio? That's the first time I've heard that!
I never knew Mr freeze was played by another actor with an accent that sounded similar to Arnold Schwarzenegger back in the late 60s or early 70's.
selina's hair is on fleek in that gotham scene
1:26 he looks just like Sebastian Shaw as Anakin Skywalker from return of the Jedi.
Awseome! still waiting for my request evolution of Alien Xenomorphs (badass female Aliens in my opinion) in the games 😀

Arnold as it sucks as mr freeze The first one looks like a clown in an astronaut suit

Arnold could've been a really great Mr. Freeze, but bad writing and directing got in the way.
Freeze and Firefly gave Dr. Hugo Strange a real freezer burn!
Arnold: THE ICE MAN COMETH!!!!
Mr freeze is my favorite Batman villain.
Mine is Gorshin's Riddler. Simply unmatched with the diabolical laughter and going from laughing to frightening psycopath within seconds. Oh, and the riddles are good too. A close second would be 2008 Joker on film. Then in 3rd place Vincent Price's Egghead.
Gotham Mr. Freeze is the best
Graphics of villains changed so much
To date, Arnie's casting still untoppabble
Arnie was fine, he just could've got better material as Mr Freeze. But nothing will ever top the late Michael Ansara's performance in the DCAU - the best portrayal of a DC character almost always comes from the DCAU

George Sanders is really underrated ngl
Ice periscope and Arnolds ice related zingers...😂😂😝😨😵

Calling mr freeze !calling mr freeze! Your needed on our southern boarder !

i. loved arnolds the most! DUDE b4 too all were great but different!❤👍😆
most people dont know he was on the show before the comics/tas
I sure would love to see the Mr Freeze costume from the 1960s Batman tv show the 1997 batman and robin film and the Gotham tv show be made into real dress up costumes with bonus freeze guns included
Arnie is Mr.Freeze Forever 💎💎💎
Arnold as Freeze was ok... if he didn't had those Ice puns all the time then I would love the character more
Oh the puns
Just like evolution of the refrigerator 😂
Arnie as Mr. Freeze was so cool, even for a movie that bad.
George Sanders best Mr freeze period ! He just had a cold sinister accent
Obviously Gotham's Mr freeze he costume is brilliant.
The second freezer looks like a game changer. The first one looks like a big flop.
I like Marvel more than DC, but I love Batman too.
