Victor Fries is seriously one villain you have to sympathize for, because in most adaptations, he never wanted to be a criminal, or to become what he is now - all he wanted to do was save his dying wife from a rare, incurable disease and worked for so long on a cure to save her after freezing her. He was turned into what he was by either an accident, or because someone else turned him into what he was. And what he does is wrong, but you have to ask yourself: if you had the resources and the will to save someone you love most, how far would you go to save them; at what costs? Victor may seem cold-hearted, but all he wants to do is save someone he loves - even if it means breaking the law or getting someone hurt to do so.
What a poor guy. Still, after what he went through (in each version), I understand why he did what he did, and why he went mad. He has my sympathy. His story reminds me of Darth Vader from Star Wars.
@@viczilla24dreamer51 Not really. To me, he was the WORST (live-action) Mr. Freeze. Personally speaking, the Mr. Freeze from BTAS, the Arkham games & the Gotham TV show were FAR better than Arnold.
Batman The Animated Series’ Mr Freeze is the only Mr Freeze I grew up with and know. So seeing later versions from 2004’s The Batman, and even earlier versions in the older comic books where it was said he actually WAS a criminal, I just didn’t like it
BTAS changed Mr. Freeze’s motivation to curing his wife and ever since then, people made it his official motivation. Except in The Batman and the Adam West Batman, where he used to be a criminal and they got their powers from an accident with Batman.
Too bad New 52 had to ruin it by making Nora a volunteer for Wayne Tech’s new cryo technology, and Victor, who is not married to her, nor have they ever met, gained an unhealthy obsession with her after she was frozen, even calling her his wife.

After seeing The Batman, I really want to see Matt Reeves bring in Mr Freeze as the main villain for the sequel as it's been 25 years since he last appeared in a movie and he's long overdue for a fresh take on the big screen. I say BTAS did the best job with him in terms of storytelling where they made him one of the most tragic and sympathetic characters of the rogue's gallery. I believe with the right actor, a good script and story, it could work. Please make it happen
Gotham and BTAS in my opinion are the best , BTAS took risks and reinterpreted the character which is now considered the definitive version of his backstory . Gotham on the other hand made some bold decisions with Mr.Freeze , which I love . I remember how shocked I was while watching both Nora and Freeze commit suicide , Nora being successful . It is interesting that within both series , their first Mr Freeze episode is considered one of the best .
Even though "Batman & Robin" is not the best Batman film, I think I like that transformation the best. Falling into that water just seemed perfect enough to mutate Freeze.
I like the 90's Batman animated version of Mr. Freeze. He was voiced by Michael Ansara, who played my favorite OG Klingon, Kang in the original Star Trek, and on DS9.
