    My current AM routine:
    - Soon Jung face foam cleanser
    - Pyunkal toner essence
    - COSRX snail mucin
    - Beauty of Jeoson glow serum
    - Soon Jung 2x Barrier cream
    My current PM routine:
    - Etude foam cleanser
    - AHA/BHA toner cosrx
    - Hydraulic acid 1,5%
    - Soon Jung 2x Barrier cream
    I have very dry, textured skin. I wouldn’t say I experience acne, but i do have a lot of hormonal bumps and whiteheads on my face. Lastly i have very dull skin, with lots of hyperpigmentation.
    I would like an even skintone. And for my face to be very hydrated and get the “glass skin” look.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, the "glass skin" look usually refers to skin that appears clear, smooth, and radiant and is achieved through a combination of skincare and makeup.
      But for your skin condition, it may be best to incorporate retinol, retinal or retinoid, and give it time to work (several months).
      My current AM routine:
      - Soon Jung face foam cleanser
      - Pyunkal toner essence
      - COSRX snail mucin
      - Beauty of Jeoson glow serum
      - Soon Jung 2x Barrier cream
      My current PM routine:
      - Etude foam cleanser
      - AHA/BHA toner cosrx
      - Hydraulic acid 1,5%
      - Soon Jung 2x Barrier cream
      PM routine 2 (2-3 times a week)
      Cleanser
      Paula's Choice 0,3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol or Differin Gel or G&G Retinol 0,05%
      (Moisturizer is just optional here, depending on how well you tolerate the retinol/retinal/retinoid)
      But overall if you're trying to achieve a glass skin look, it's important to focus on using high-quality, gentle skincare products, protecting your skin from sun damage, and maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, it helps to gently loosen the dead skin cells from the skin surface which helps to reduce textured skin, blemishes and theoretically surface pigmentation. Still, it also depends on the % and pH of the exfoliant + how severe your pigmentation may be.

    Hey Melissa, i'm new to skincare so i'm still learning about some ingredients. You said to not mix the AHA/BHA cosrx toner with The Ordinary Peptides, is there only a problem with peptides serums or with any peptides? I'm asking because currently im using the inkey list peptide moisturizer, should i have any precaution or is it okay to wear both the peptide moisturizer and the cosrx toner?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial

      Not all peptides are sensitive to pH. But I do not know the once that are not. And there seems to be no info I can find online. It would be great to have a list to see the ones that can be used with acidic products and do not break down.
      So as for now, you can only trust the company. If they do not mention anything, then they are likely safe to use. (hopefully) And if you want to be safe, just don't use them immediately after AHA or BHA toners/exfoliants.

      Always choose a cleanser and moisturizer based on your skin type. Typically, lotions or creams are suited for dry skin, while gels are better for oily skin.
      As for usage, it's about finding the right frequency for your skin. A good starting point might be to use the product every other day, then adjust the frequency based on your skin's personal tolerance. :)

      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jennycecilia Purging is the process by which your skin may break out or experience more clogged pores than usual when you first start using a new product. This happens because the product is causing your skin to speed up its natural exfoliation process, which can bring impurities to the surface.
      With aha/bha and benzoyl peroxide, purging can occur because it is working to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. This can cause the skin to break out in the first few weeks of use, but after that initial phase, the skin should start to clear up and become smoother and brighter.
      Still it is very difficult to determine during the first few weeks 🙁

      Yes, wait for the toner to absorb into the skin and then apply the snail essence on top.
      Damp skin refers to the skin absorbing water while washing your face. After that you take a towel and remove the remaining water drops from the skin surface. Like a sponge, you wet the sponge and then squeeze out the water so that it remains damp.
      You do the same thing when layering skincare products. You wait for the product to absorb and then move on to the next step.

      Since you have oily skin, I recommend either using a hydrating serum (like a Hyaluronic Acid serum) or a gel-type moisturizer instead of your current moisturizer. As for the exfoliant, look into a Salicylic Acid (BHA) Cleanser, Toner, or Serum.

      Well, if it's very gentle and has a pH-balanced formulation, then it should work. However, if it has a low pH and a high concentration, then it can become very irritating over time. Also, it's important to note that BHA is equal to Salicylic Acid or its derivative, Betaine Salicylate.

      For blackheads, you need extraction; otherwise, they do not go away, especially if they are deeply embedded. And if you are referring to dark spots (acne scars), yes, it can help improve them over time.
      If this is the only exfoliating acid product you use, then you can try using it once daily, ideally in the evening. It should already help you to unclog pores. The only thing you may need to add is an essence afterward, something like CosRX snail mucin or a hyaluronic acid serum. :)

      Well, the shrinking of pores isn't really going to happen if it's due to genetics. However, exfoliating can help remove dead skin cells, which may make them look better. • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      COSRX AHA/BHA Toner is a mixture of two exfoliating acids, Glycolic Acid, and Betaine Salicylate, suitable for all skin types. It works to exfoliate both the skin surface and within the pores. On the other hand, COSRX BHA is better suited for oilier skin types, as it contains Betaine Salicylate and Niacinamide. Its primary benefits include regulating oiliness, unclogging pores, and brightening the skin.
      However, it's worth noting that some individuals may be sensitive to Glycolic Acid. In such cases, using a BHA product might be a better choice. Alternatively, if you prefer another AHA, Lactic or Mandelic Acid would be gentler options.

    I actually use a alkaline cleanser (i actually use chikpea flour as its good to regulate ph of skin )

      Do you still get active acne? If so, how much?
      I recommend keeping the routine as simple as possible. You do not need to use multiple toners or essences. Use COSRX AHA/BHA Toner immediately after cleansing before applying anything else on top. As for blackheads, I suggest extracting them from time to time to achieve the best results.

      It seems like it's simply too much for your skin to handle. Using so many products can make it difficult for the products to effectively penetrate the skin. I would suggest taking a break and then selecting 1-2 products you prefer to create a simple routine. Or something like this:
      AM:
      Cosrx Low pH Cleansing Gel
      Green Tea Gel (if you're not exposed to the sun)
      Sunscreen (if you'll be in the sun for extended periods)
      PM:
      Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser
      Cosrx Snail Mucin
      Either BOJ Rice and Alpha Arbutin Serum or The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum
      PM (2 times per week):
      Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser
      AHA/BHA Toner (wait a few minutes after applying)
      Either Snail Mucin or Green Tea Gel

    I would love to grab your advice for my skincare routine.
    My skin tends to get oily during the day (especially when I'm wearing makeup) but it tends to feel awfully dry at times with dry patches and red blotches over my face.
    My skincare routine is currently
    1. somebymi acne clear foam
    2. somebymi byebye blackhead
    3. somebymi aha bha miracle toner
    4. isntree hylarunoic acid essence
    5. somebymi snail mucin

      Hey! :)
      Is this your AM and PM routine?
      Do you have acne-prone skin?

      @Melissa Van Dijk It would be my pm routine!
      I reckon I have dry/ oily skin because I do get acne but mainly around my periods. For my cleansers, I used them practically daily and for my routine, it was daily until recently when it felt super sensitive so I laid off everything and stuck with just applying Vaseline to calm my face because i would experience a burning sensation when I applied a moisturiser

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jeannettenguyen9329 Some by Mi Bye Bye Blackhead cleanser is, in my opinion, pretty intense for daily use (maybe the other one as well, I'm not sure as I haven't tested that one), so I just would use that one (or even both) from time to time. So, look for a regular gentle cleanser, a non-exfoliating acid cleanser. Since you've used that cleanser daily + the AHA/BHA toner, this is likely why you're experiencing sensitivity.
