- In this video I head out on a standard fell run as I start the new year's training plan.
I say 'training plan' but there isn't one really. The plan is 20 - 30 miles and as close to 10,000+ ft of elevation every week as I can get.
However, this is subject to change depending on how the week goes and what I can squeeze in.
The intention on this run was to do 9 Wainwrights.
*SPOILER ALERT*
It didn't happen. The weather turned on me.
I love the Far Eastern Fells. They're super convienient for me to get to and they're great fun to explore. There's always a new line to find.

I live South Cumbria/North lancs. Tend now to visit the trough which stunning and quiet or Dales. Anyways, i read a biography by lead singer of chumbawumba, a book just about his love for fell running in UK and now the US.
We are recent retirees from the U.S. who summited all 214 over six months in 2021/2022. Working on our second round. Love the Lake District and the Wainwright guides. Hartsop is one of our favorite parts of the LD. You are a lucky man to be living near the LD.

I think that a running the Wainwrights series would be very good, kind of like the guy Black Crag.

Excellent vid fella, gasping for a day on the fells after watching this 😊 Also enjoyed your slow cooker chat - the thing i miss most now im vegetarian is slow cooked casseroles, doesn't really work with just vegetables - any suggestions from you or other viewers welcome! Mate first off respect to you for running all them class and again nice bit of knowledge of the area excellent stuff mate I would struggle to walk this lol and yet you looked so calm at the end I would of been sitting on the floor great stuff buddy enjoyed watching this will work my way through the flogs thanks for sharing 👍

Crazy. I’ve just had the last of my fell running kit delivered and pinned my first route. Mate, it’s effectively this! Yours slightly longer, but wanted to hit the same peaks, as it always seemed like good runnable track and, like you say, a lovely place to drive to (and not that bad on the road in winter - I also don’t have the right tyres). Honestly, I would only be hiking and camping the fells if it wasn’t for you John. Can’t believe I’m ready to go for running on them. Will have to record some of it and send you on Insta. Sent this message before watching this video! Back to it….

Sterling work mate, shoehorning that vert in. The Mudtalon Speed does look a sexy beast, but not £130 sexy. Got some X-talons in the sales for 50 quid, they'll do for me! Sausage casserole, mmmm 🤤
I’ve seen tracks of the new Mudtalon out and about already so people are rocking them on the fells. I’ll have to wait a while 😉
