Awesome video! You saved me $600 plus dollars. I am a 62 yr old woman whi has a disable husband and can no longer help out with household repairs. I went to local auto part store; purchased a 30 amp fuse barrel and replace it with a 10 amp; opened my box, no green light; shut down all power and followed your video guidance …and WALA!!! Green light came on and my salt cell lite up. Thank you so much for making your video so user friendly! Sincerely, BJ Reece, USNavy Chief (Retired)
You saved me $1000.00 + I kept telling the pool guy I didn't think the salt cell was bad because I would have seen flashing lights indicating the unit wasn't operating properly. This time NO lights. After quite a bit of time troubleshooting getting no power, I came across your post. Replaced the old style fuse with your fix and all is working!!! Thank You, I can't wait to tell the pool guy I was right!
I did exactly what you said about getting the barrel fuse holder replaced and that did the trick!!! $3.99 cents and about 20min of my time vs a new box at $499. Thank you so much!!!!! Keep up with the amazing content!
So I replaced the entire fuse holder and fuse and that didn't work. Watched your video and the bypass you did towards 4 minutes had already been done. In essence, I replaced the old spot that wasn't even wired. There was already what you had done. Opened the fuse in the middle of wired and there was the blown fuse. Replaced the fuse and works like a charm. Way to go on a great video. Helped a lot.
Thank you so much! This video saved me $200 and a lot of headaches. I have the old model with the terrible design. The barrel fuse blew and part of it was stuck in the holder which cracked the holder. I got the new holder at an auto store and cut the wires just like the video. Works perfectly now. An electrician wanted $200 and the pool store said they don’t work on these.
Perfect video, I just moved into a house with a pool two weeks ago, Salt cell just shut off Sunday night...sure enough, it was the older barrel fuse...I would have never found it. Appreciate the expertise!
Great frustration to Great Enthusiasm - thank you very much. It was recommended I buy another Pentair Intellichlor system. I refused to pay 8x what i paid for my 3 year old system. Then, somehow this video appears. I followed this gentleman's directions to the "T" doing this by myself, and my Pentair Intellichlor system is powered up operating perfectly! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Just like many others on here. I have to older system as well. Thought i was going to have to dish out quite a bit of cash because last year i went from an IC40 to an IC60 as i have a 48k Gallon pool and the IC40 died in 2 years. So you can imagine my worries as i see no green lights on the IC60. Changed out the barrel fuse connections just like the video and "MAGIC"!!! THANK YOU Craig!!
Excellent video, I completed the fuse bypass because my older control unit fuse was oxidized out at the bottom. Works great now, you are awesome, thank you!
Thank you so much for posting this video!!! We simply needed a barrel fuse holder for our older (2012) power box, but would not have known so without this content. Simple fix that worked like a charm. Our salt generator and pool are back up and running! :)
Thanks for the Video, my solution was a little different. No lights on Cell, when you unplugged cell and cycled power to the box, green light was on. Once cell was connected it would go off so bad cell I thought, got a new one (the one we have is almost 13 years old) new cell had same issue. I thought "how can fuse be bad if light comes on?" Tested both ends of fuse connection, no power coming out of it so I took the old-style fuse out (that was a Challange, had to take holder out to get fuse out) fuse was good, I put it all back to together and it tested good, salt cell worked! Put old salt cell back on and it worked also. Maybe it was just loose, going to leave it alone since it is working, going to get a new fuse holder if issue returns. Maybe it was just not making good contact? May keep the new cell since our is so old.
Just a quick question, if the fuse pops immediately that means the salt cell is shorting ? would cleaning the salt cell meaning what if there were some calcium between the grids will that cause it does short immediately or is it more likely something in the electronics on the cell itself? Since these things are so expensive I just wonder if there was anything that could possibly be repaired in the cell?
Thank you for this. I was following your directions and there was simply a loose connection in the fuse area. If it happens again then I will replace with a barrel fuse.
Quick Question I have a newer style with the 10 amp mini fuse I have replaced it and the little green light inside power supply still not on? Is this a power supply issue then?
Mine suddenly stopped working and no lights at all...which led me to this video. I did open up the power source and the green LED is on. So did the SWCG just spontaneously go bad? I don't get it. The only thing that has happened is that my pool company came out for weekly maintenance and then I saw the lights were out. What would have happened? Is my only remedy to go buy a new $1000 part?
Hi! Great video. Had a quick question just to confirm. So here you basically bypassed the old fuse holder leaving it in place, and with clipping the ends on the wires putting in to the new barrel holder? And essentially leaving the old holder in place it looks like which would not be used going forward. I believe my fuse is stuck in there as when I pulled out the gray plastic at the bottom that is all that came out, no fuse or the metal holder that looks to be attached to that gray cap.
That is common. I don't bother attempting to remove the fuse or the fuse holder, not worth my time and I don't want a hole in the bottom of the box. You could replace the original fuse holder, they are readily available, however it is cumbersome to do and the new one will also eventually fail. I just install a new barrel fuse holder and burry it in the power center
I have a ichlor 30. Checked the fuse with multimeter and it's good. No green lights in transformer and still no power to the cell. Would you think it's the transformer. Transformer has power coming into it. Thanks
I have the older power center model with the Buss fuse. It's fine. My problem is an intermittent connection. I have a new IC40 that worked fine for a year, but now I only get power to it if i press hard, up, on the connecter, after being sure I've got it fully inserted and secure. I'm assuming the female receptacle is bad? corroded? Would that be hard to replace? BTW, interesting that the new IC40 is upside down from the old one. To get the flow in the right direction I had to mount it "upside down". Thanks for any help
Nice video! i have an iChlor-15 cell that Pentair replaced under warranty. But on the new iChlor-15, now I have no lights at all. I have checked 1) 240V coming into the Power Center, 2) Green Light is on. I took the red automotive fuse out and light went off, put it back in and green light is on. I kept my old iChlor-15, which was working but had 1 bad indicator light, so I just swapped that one in, but still no lights on the iChlor cell at all. Any other ideas to try? Thanks!
How do you test the easy touch? I had a fuse pop in the easy touch and when I pushed it back in the salt cell lit up for a few moments and then went out again.
@@JB-ie3vo James here is what I think happened. Our IChlor has to be installed "upside down" due to the configuration of our water lines. This is not a problem for the controls as you can flip them over and apply the new sticker. HOWEVER I noticed there is an opening for the power cord to go in, which normally would be on the bottom. Since ours was flipped it was on top, with a rather large opening around the cord, I think rain got into there and shorted it out. Just my theory. On our new unit I taped around that opening to keep out the rain.
My unit is 6 years old and I can't locate a fuse anywhere. I do see the 4 small circuit breakers in the top panel, but none are tripped. Where else can I look?
Which fuse do you have? If it is a on the circuit board with the green LED light, then replace the power center. If it is on the bottom of the power center and is a barrel fuse, then replace the fuse holder and then check it. 90% of the time that fuse holder goes bad
What do I do if I just replaced the salt cell today & replace the fuse just now. Power everything up, it runs for 2-3 minutes and then slowly burns through the fuse?
My Pentair Ichlor 30 is showing an AC code. It's getting AC power instead of DC. I changed out the power supply and it's doing the same thing. Is my cell bad?
@@craigwooster6646 I had a bad generator cell (flow switch) as the metal tab broke off so flow showed red. I got a new flow switch and swapped it out and now the salt level indicators have no lights, but everything else is on and green. Any ideas?
Its possible I missed this. I switched the fuse and without the salt generator connected, the green light stayed on indefinitely. I connected the salt generator and the light went off within seconds. What's going on here?
I bought a new cell and a new power supply replaced both of them I still don't have any lights nothing's working and I don't have a green light on a brand new power supply
Naturally, as my luck would have it. I have a new set-up. I replaced the fuse and there's no light. This is the one thing not me tioned in the video or the comments.
These iChlor units are pure junk. They charge a ridiculous amount for these garbage units only to have them fail in a couple years. There should be a class action lawsuit against Pentair for pushing this junk on the public.
you can’t be serious the fuse is good the green light is on, but I have no power to the cell!!! well kiss, a wet puppies, buttt !!!! It’s only two years old !!! that is ridiculous.😡

Plugging in or unplugging your cell with the power on will most likely fry your power supply or your cell. Thats rule 1 you just violated multiple times. Not very good information on this one sorry.
