Once that threshold is crossed, they get out of there. Let's use Jevil as an example of this. He refers to the fight as a "numbers game." Even after his "HP" reaches zero, he still talks to you calmly like he isn't even injured. So when fighting Darkners, their HP bar is basically just the amount of damage they're *_willing_* to take. Not their health points. Lancer truly was about to die with that last hit, because he had no intentions of letting her fight his father.
