@@NoSoupBoi The genre pool is so massive that its impossible to hate anime. You just have to be willing to surf through all the stuff you don't like. I honestly think that "anime haters" think all anime is the same Naruto/DBZ/One Piece shounen shit and as such never try to look past that. I mean I love that stuff but why they would think that. Think about it, there is no anime genre more promoted than shounen.
Honestly, what they really need is an experienced anime sherpa.
That is what I do for all my friends and out of all the "anime hating" friends I've had one 1 has ever given up before we find what they like. Although to be fair he barely tried.
Anime isn’t a genre, it’s a medium of story telling comparable to late night TV, you’ve got some good, some bad, a few amazing, and a whole lot of mediocre

Fun fact: When it comes to the design for the titans. The creator base them off an encounter he had with a very drunk man. He said even though they were both humans the man was so drunk it felt so otherworldly to him. Which is why the titans both look and act so creepy and unsettling.

@@Gestrid yeah, I have seen the intro and a few clips, but I was never a fan of anime. I just recently watched the entirety of Death Note after a few of my friends convinced me to watch it. Now I am debating to watch either this or Avatar.

Though, personally, I think you should watch Attack on Titan first. You have a greater chance of getting spoiled on it, and it's one of those shows where you do not want *_ANY_* spoilers. Avatar: The Last Airbender is a _great_ show (one of the best western cartoons ever created, IMO), but Attack on Titan is just something else entirely. It has single-handedly caused Crunchyroll's (one of the main anime streaming companies) website to crash from people trying to watch a new episode on multiple occasions. That's how popular it is. I think the only other show to do that was maybe Demon Slayer.
@Gestrid oh wow. I have seen a few spoilers for the finale, but mostly, I just watched those titan compilations where it shows the different types and the damage they can do. It is genuinely one of the msot chilling things I have seen in a good while. And I watch horror/weird stuff daily. Also, for a show that ran for 10 years, I am suprised it only has 94 episodes
@@complex2live There was a four-year break between seasons 1 and 2. The series was a surprise hit, and the animation studio had other projects they'd already committed to that they had to finish before working on season 2.
Season 3 ran into some production issues about halfway through the season and went on an unplanned hiatus for about six months. It returned, but, after season 3, the anime switched to a different animation studio due to those production issues.
Season 4 (titled "The Final Season") was divided up into two parts with about a year in between each part.
Also, the two special episodes that finished off the series took over a year to come out after the last normal episode of season 4 aired.
All of that added up to about 10 years or so.
It hits hard when she says "dont leave me." She's strong for her kids but is terrified when she sees them leave and has a moment of selfishness and says it from behind her hand knowing she cant let them here that.

This is a great idea. Means alot to dub fans when reactors give the dub a try, whether its on original watch or rewatch. Having 3 people rewatching and watching dub for the first time, while the 4th person is watching blind... It's FANTASTIC!!! Really looking forward to seeing this. ❤🎉

Gotta love when someone hears the dub for the first time and realizes it isn’t really all that bad
When it comes to which studio I prefer, I also choose WIT over Mappa. Mappa may have the superior CGI and the characters may look like the ones from the manga but WIT greatly improved the designs from the early parts of the manga. If you go back to the early manga chapters, the characters almost look unrecognizable to how they do now because Isayama’s art was just that unpolished at the time. It’s hard to imagine what the anime would’ve looked like if they made the characters look like the ones from the manga from those early chapters. I also just prefer 2D over 3D in general.

Also, props for you guys for watching the dub -- I've seen several sub recations, don't get me wrong, but the dub is really great. TBH, Armin is my favorite in both sub and dub.

Absolutely. I've seen a lot of reactors that adhere to the elitist, sub-only nonsense and then completely miss important details because they're too busy trying to be entertaining. The very act of reacting splits your focus, and watching a show/movie subbed requires greater focus. Even if the sub for an anime *is* better than the dub (and that is simply not true for basically any anime dubbed in the past 15 years), reactors should always watch the show dubbed because of the practical need created by reacting.

On the subject of Armin, I far prefer his dub voice because he actually sounds like a 15-19 year old male, was never a fan of his sub voice
@@Celestia282 Seems like the only reason dubs get hate at this point is because of the mindless bandwagon culture, because they're so used to JP that it's off-putting, and because for some reason, these subtards go into complete nitpick and scrutiny mode when watching dub, and you're more likely to enjoy it if you treated like any English-speaking Western cartoon, like how many of us probably watched Pokemon as kids and it aired in dub. If people paid too close to Avatar or if Avatar was a dubbed anime, they'd say Sokka's voice is too high-pitched or something
@@ashhabimran239ehhh....I disagree. I don't care much about the sub vs dub debates. I personally prefer subbed ver, and I in general like subtitles in any media i consume, however I wouldn't have completed something like Naruto had it not been for the great dub.
But, i do think there are some negative points to dubs of some shows. Like jjk....it has pretty decent eng voice cast, but listening to long drawn out explanations of powers just.... feels stupid to hear in eng. AOT has among the better dubs, but I just don't like post timeskip Eren's va. And his titan also sounds like a shrieking lizard, which annoys me to no end.
And especially for reactors, sub IS the better version i feel. There have been far too many reactions i have seen, where people completely miss the context of a scene coz they happen to talk over like the most important lines. Which is never a problem with the sub ver.
At the end of the day, these shows are meant to be enjoyed. And one must always be doing so in whichever way they are comfortable with.

Honestly, I really don't think the dub deserves all the hate it gets. Some of its voice actor choices in the first season are... interesting, and it does change a bit of dialogue here and there in the first season. But, overall, it's not bad at all. The voice actors really grow into the characters in later seasons. And the dialogue changes can be excused because the English dub didn't know at the time how important the _exact phrasing_ of certain dialogue would be to the show. They realize this in later seasons and make sure to copy key phrases exactly. The dub's director (who also voices Jean in the show) also made sure to keep up with the manga so he would know exactly how important each scene would be in the future.
All that to say: Thank you for watching the dub! It really doesn't get enough love!

One thing I'll add: The intermission cards (they're called "Information Available for Public Disclosure") are actually semi-important. Some let us know about the "rules" of the world* (such as how everything is divided by the three walls, what the walls' names are, etc.), some remind us of important facts (especially as we get into the later seasons), and some even let us know entirely new information (one in particular comes to mind; the new information is not a spoiler). Others are even used to set the tone for the the next part of the episode (not in a spoilery way). To my knowledge, many of them are taken straight from the manga.
I would suggest finding a video with the dub that translates those intermission cards. I had thought Crunchyroll translated them, but maybe they didn't do it for the first season. I know for a fact they did it for at least season 2 onwards. If you can't find one, maybe you can find a translation online and read it whenever it pops up onscreen. I know the Attack on Titan wiki on Fandom translated them all. (It's on a page titled "Current Publicly Available Information", since that's the name of the "intermission cards" in the manga.)
*The four slides in these two episodes primarily describe how large the areas inside each wall are (so you have an idea of the scale of the area they live in), and it gives the name of each wall. The third image (first image in the second episode) is a more accurate representation of how large the area inside each wall is. The fourth image tells you that the elevation increases as you get towards the center of the walls, and it tells you that they have abundant natural resources (specifically water, gas, and ore).

1:38, THEY DID!.. in chapter 4 season 2 they added Eren Jaeger who was the secret skin in the battle pass, and later that season they added Levi and Mikasa as well as ODM gear and thunder spears
They did indeed add the ODM gear in fortnite. They even added the thunder spears.

10:18 Underground bunkers wouldn't work. Titans haven't died out in 100 years so if you hide down in a bunker, one of you is dying of starvation first and it won't be the immortal giant who can probably break through the ground if they think you're in there.

I think the best starter anime for people who say they hate it is death note, Haikyuu, and SpyxFamily. The world in those anime aren’t too different than our own, the typical troupes that make people uncomfortable like sexualization, mystical, being extremely long, or just all action are limited or don’t exist in these anime. And they are an easy digestible watch. They are the perfect gateway for people who doesn’t like anime based on how it’s portrayed and never really scratched underneath the surface.
I am very certain that she would not like either of those two animes. Why would you even suggest them?
The absolute best entry anime is Cowboy Bebop. It has a generally western plot structure and aesthetic that makes it approachable to those only familiar with western media. It also has a focus on story and character, giving it cross-cultural, universal appeal. Finally, once you start getting used to it, the show adds in the very anime-esque character of Edward to help you dip your toes into the weirder, more off-putting side of anime without being overbearing. Cowboy Bebop is almost perfectly designed to be an anime that can be enjoyed by people who don't like anime.
@Celestia282 both of those shows are about family, friends, and love. Very emotional shows that get you in the feels and has action for the guys good for everyone. Really gets the tears going

Yes, Fairy Tail has the real fan service. Sword art has nothing compared to other shows, and both shows are all about crying. Either it's so sad or happy, it will make you cry.
I watched Attack on Titan both sub and dub as it came along these many years.
One of my biggest problems with the dub has been how much they alter and change the lines, even when it comes to some of the most iconic ones in the series, which leads to inconsistency when those lines are repeated later on in the series since the dub changed them originally it erases intentional call-backs in the dialogue.
They change up some of the repeated dialogue to sound more natural. Eren's motto of "because I was born to this world" and "keep moving forward" still hold in the dub
@@kazmolo Ive also seen too many reactors get confused because everyone is watching a different subbed translation. Ive watched the show in dub and sub numerous times I can only think of one time the dub ever confuses anything important but have seen lots of bad aot subs including using 'solider' and 'warrior' interchangeably when they def should no be.

There is the problem in the Amazon Prime and Netflix version because they straight up use the dogshit English dub in the subtitles that is why it is confusing 😂.

In S1Ep12 (22:05 when Armin is able to motivate/manipulate Eren into fighting), one of the most iconic lines of Eren, "It's because I was born in this world!" which was later seen as something Carla told him in S3Ep11 22:42, again he repeats in S4Ep19 19:47. But what the English dub do? They change it to, "Because the world beyond the walls is my birthright", "He was born into this world" (only correct one), and "Because I have a right to live inside the world I was born to" respectively.
So there is no call-back and it isn't even accurate to his character.

they actually did have ODM gear in fortnite when the skins were in, it might've just been a bit overshadowed cause the kinetic blades were also in the game alongside them, and had infinite use while the ODM gear was just limited use
