I like hunting the hills and valleys. Just do not like deer recovery. It's like a deer's last revenge on you for shooting them is to run down into the deepest ravine with the most jaggers. But that is why I have 2 sons 🤣 (Most of the time)@@theback40
Thank you! Hard to believe this is happening on our property, five years ago we would be happy to just see a deer. Gotta think back and remember those days to make sure we are appreciating our blessings today. All the best to you.
Thank you. You help me to remember what it was like 5+ years ago here, and to take the time to reflect on the work and now reward. Thank you. Hope you are having a great season.
Awesome job Mark!!! i just got back in to town late this morning From 10 days of hunting & processing deer. We added two big does to the 8 point I shoot with the crossbow. My doe I shoot a week ago Sunday morning with 300BK AR-15, got her quartering away at the back of the ribs and exited base of the neck. she only went 50yds. and heard her crash! My bother hit his low in the chest and didn't give her time to die, he bumped her & we left her till morning. Him bumping her pushed 300yds from where he shot her, he used his black lab to help tract her down! They found her 30yds. out in the marsh. Bad chose, coyotes got at her & took almost the hole right rear leg, we salvaged the rest! All in all it was great time hunting & spending time with family!!!
Hey Keith, sounds like you guys had a great time, and congrats on all the deer harvested. Coyotes are brutal, I've seen them eating a deer alive right in our front yard before, so ugly. But glad you guys recovered her. All the best to you.
I’ve been watching your videos for a couple years now and I’m compelled to say that I am all in on your property, your hunts, and family. You’re an inspiration and your humble. That’s the best part.
Thank you for the kind words, your comment is very humbling, and an encouragement to keep turning on the camera and putting it out there to hopefully help other people in some way. Hope you are having a great season. All the best to you.
Congratulations, Mark! Fun to see the payoff for all the hard work. I’m doing a lot of the same things to figure out what works best for us in Texas. Really appreciate you sharing your experiences, I’ve learned a lot. I’ve been part of a tracking team a few times, lots of fun.
Hey Curt, thank you. Keep pushing your mind to think about your property, and where the issues lie and then figure out how to fix them. The process is fun, as I am sure you already know. All properties are different, and all property owner goals are different, so you have to keep at it to get into your "sweet spot". Hope you are having a great season. (and get some rain next season!).
Hey Tim, I'm out of tags for this year, so no rifle from me, just the one of Lisa's so far. But, the girls still have tags, so we keep at it. Hope you are having a great season.
Congratulations on that nice buck! I know exactly what you mean, I always need to get help tracking too. I've been the guy who waits by the last blood for my whole life. Thankfully my family is always glad to lend a hand. All your hard work is paying off!
Hey Mark, thank you. Yup, we're always the guys waiting at last blood. Like you, I am blessed with great family and friends that love to help, and actually enjoy the tracking process.
Your genuine demeanor and your family's passion and inclusion are what I really like about your videos, Mark. From one habitat worker to another, congrats on that fine buck! It's such a special moment when the plan comes together!
Thank you for the kind words. I was just telling someone that the planning might actually be more work than the physical part of executing the plan out on the property. Spend all winter thinking about improvements, researching, trying to find something on TH-cam to see if anyone else has tried it before etc. But like you said, when it all comes together.....priceless. Hope your habitat work is giving you guys a great season.
Thank you. I was "this close" to buying that scope, but it was too close to the season opener and I didn't want to start a new setup and feel rushed and mess something up. I'm thinking this spring I'll get one and have plent of time to get dialed in for next season. All the best to you.
@@bradbrockhaus633 That is great to hear, so happy for you. I'm starting to learn the picky part, just never had that as an option before, but seems like things are getting to that point now. Certainly upping the bar each year on what I'll pull the trigger. All the best to you.
@theback40 I spend countless hours on Google earth/snippet drawing diagrams and scheming my future plans...I really believe I enjoy just as much if not more on the process of planning /planting/maintenance and how the deer relate to my habitat plan...I really believe that I'm now about observing while out "hunting" to see what buck(s) are doing and where they came from and where they go. Keep the videos coming cause I always am trying to learn...Take care!!
Hey Mark congrats on very nice buck 👍 and i can imagine that would be hard being color blind. I didn't have i spot of blood on my buck this year i got first morning of gun with my 30-30 first blood was about 10feet from the deer. 👍
Mark.....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You could not have scripted it better. Watching your video of the shot, it looked like a good shot. What type of video set up do you have on the bow to tract the arrow, it worked great. This was a great TEAM effort. Bob
Thank Bob! We use Tactacams on our bows and guns, it's super simple to turn them on when the "moment" arrives, just push one button and then focus on the shot.

Hey Greg, thanks. Had Jake Ehlinger out about five years ago. Those guys all do a great job making big changes to turn things around on your property, and give you the courage to make those changes, because sometimes it is extreme. Congrats 🍾🎈🎊. Very jealous of you. Not for the nice buck, but for the flat land not covered with jaggers 😂. Awesome hunt 🤘😎
