  • G'day Guys and Gals!
In this video I show you all of the steps necessary to install a Snorkel to your JB74 Suzuki Jimny. I chose to fit a MEGA JIMNY 3.0 Snorkel to my Suzuki Jimny due to it being a seamless fit. It also doesn't require any drilling or cutting to install the Snorkel to the vehicle.
Fitting a Snorkel to your 4x4 vehicle is a great addition. It give you piece of mind and is a bit of an insurance policy against getting water into your engine. On my Suzuki Jimny I installed the MEGA JIMNY 3.0 Supa Sleek Snorkel. This snorkel raises the intake of the vehicle from in the engine bay to up near the roof or top of the door.
The installation of the MEGA JIMNY Supa Sleek Snorkel 3.0 is really easy. Follow these steps to install the snorkel -
    1. Remove the wiper arms
    2. Remove the plenum metal panel
    3. Remove the Drivers side trim pannel
    4. Remove the trim support panel
    5. Remove the 10mm bolt at back of guard
    6. Remove the bonnet hinge and support bonnet while fitting snorkel
    7. Reassemble in the reverse order and tighten all snorkel bolts
    8. Remove factory intake pipe to airbox
    9. Fit new intake pipe to snorkel and airbox
    10. ALL DONE :)
In this video I give you a step by step tutorial on how to fit the Snorkel to your Suzuki Jimny. This will give you the confidence to carry out the install yourself and save heaps of cash!
Fitting a raised air intake to your vehicle will stop water entering during deep water crossings. This will also allow cooler fresher air to enter the intake system and give a marginal gain in response.
There are a lot of different brand snorkels on the market, the Safari, TJM, Ironman 4x4. All of these snorkels require cutting or drilling into the panel work which can have issues with corrosion of the panels if not sealed correctly. The MEGA JIMNY Supa Sleep Snorkel requires no cutting or drilling. This is what makes the Supa Sleek Snorkel for the Suzuki Jimny JB74 so special.
If you are thinking of installing a snorkel to your Suzuki Jimny then you will have a lot of different options. Lots of people like the Stainless Steel Snorkels or the ABS Plastic snorkels. Both are great options but they will all require trimming or cutting to install them to the vehicle.
The Mega Jimny Supa Sleek Snorkel Kit includes all of the parts necessary to install it to your Suzuki Jimny. You will require some basic hand tools and I also used some felt tape for behind the snorkel head. You will need -
    1. Phillips Head Screw driver
    2. 10mm ratchet and socket
    3. 10mm Spanner
    4. 7mm socket on small screw adapter for hose clamps
    5. small flat blade screw driver for plastic clips
    6. multiple towels or rags to protect panels
After installing the snorkel to the vehicle you will notice that the intake sounds louder and growls under load. This is the induction through the snorkel. The custom intake pipe needs to be positioned correctly to clear the A/C pipe and the brake master cylinder. The positioning is very important as the intake pipe flexes and moves with the engine.

Wow looks great Nick you have done a fantastic job of fitting it up to your Jimny. I’m not a big fan of that model I prefer the powder coating one. That you have to cut a hole in your Gard . Looks forward to seeing you on your next video mate

I was skeptical about the "No Drill" Snorkels after seeing a few where Brackets need to be removed or deformed that are attached to the main body shell. I still think that cutting a round hold in the replaceable Guard would be my preferred method of installing a Snorkel.
Thanks for this great demonstration on how the Mega Jimny snorkel does not have these issue, but I am still skeptical about the Airflow around the Hinge area. The amount of space taken up under the bonnet is still not appealing to me.
I still prefer a genuine Brazilian Snorkel 90316-BPA00-000, but they are difficult to source in Australia and are not designed for RHD vehicles.

What's the water wading capacity before and after fitting the snorkel??

    • @justins_toys
      @justins_toys ปีที่แล้ว +1

The water wading depth on the Jimny is only 300mm! I know, poor right. After looking in to why Suzuki state this its due to the diff breather's. I live in the UK and spend a lot of time in water so the first thing to fit is a differential breather kit. Snorkels while are a good insurance policy if you end up in the deep are not really made for water crossings. They are more for getting cleaner cool air in the motor. The stock air box has drain holes in it so I would change that too. If you are that deep in the water (up to the air box) you are in trouble. However with momentum and a water tight system you can go deeper for a few seconds without taking on water
