I am Italian-American descent and have spent 20 years living in Europe, 10 of which were in northern Italy. If I'm brewing Italian coffee (not espresso) on the stove-top I like Illy brand. However, have been using Nespresso coffee capsules for many years because of their authentic taste and intense crema. My latest espresso machine is a high-end Maestria machine that brews an excellent espresso using original Nespresso capsules. I have tried "alternative" capsules, namely Bestpresso brand, which was a total disappointment, but is rated as the #2 brand on some websites. My point is I think, like many issues, coffee is purely a matter of individual taste.

When refill that pod pack small amount of some coffee at the bottom then fill to rim then tap it lightly then it should work best.

Hello,Mr.knewideas listen to a scientist inspiration, first bring a glass of wine fill it to the top then start to throw coffee beans inside the glass the one which float to the top it has lower oil and the ones which sink has more oil.Next step take a cup of the sink coffee beans and mix them with 1tbs of fine wine +1tbs of coffee mate of course you guessed right we're going to coat the beans to brew for days .Next step leave them for days to dehydrate in normal temperature then grind them by spoon and put them in the coffee capsule ;you'll have a devine Expresso

Thanks but this seems an awful waste of fine wine, a sacrifice for great coffee?

why not try the packs of 10 that the pound shop and other shops sell since these come in at 10p.
your refill item is reuseable up to xxx number of times and then is dependant on the coffee or tea or hot chocolate you buy to put in it. so is more likely no were near the 20p plus prices

I really don’t have an issue paying 20p per capsule. Good quality pods can be had for this amount.
The effort of filling , cleaning and re-using capsules takes away from the convenience. I recycle my used aluminium capsules so they don’t go to landfill.
