    ★★★ ABOUT THIS VIDEO★★★
    I had a hankering for a decaf Arpeggio latte and decided to experiment with latte art. I've had several viewers ask me about the latte art functionality of the Breville Creatista Plus so let's see how it goes!

    Hello, in a previous video you commented that you’ve been using the creatista plus so much that you are contemplating selling your oracle touch, why do you feel that way? We are finalizing our decision to buy the creatista plus, main reason is speed and convenience for my wife (also Oracle costs 4x). For novice espresso fans (I love iced vanilla lattes)...what is the main benefit of oracle touch vs creatista plus? Both seem fast and convenient. Is there much of a difference in finished product espresso shot and milk? Thanks for your detailed reviews

    So I like it a lot so far. Still very new to it. I do wish the drink stayed hotter longer but I guess that you're supposed to drink it faster than a coffee. Being picky I think they should of made the knob with some sort of ridges. It gets very slippery and isn't the easiest to turn. And what's the difference in brewing a brand crus under cafe latte vs cappuccino?

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats Jeff! I completely agree about the knob. It should have ridges on the the sides so your fingers grip it better. The different between the cafe latte and cappuccino are in the default settings: the cappuccino is prepared with less steamed milk than caffe latte. Of course you can change these defaults but then it defeats the purpose of what an "authentic" caffe latte and cappuccino are supposed to be I suppose.

    • @jeffvance1271
      @jeffvance1271 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where do you change default for each? And do you find yourself just brewing a shit and adding your own milk outside of cage latte or Capp preprogrammed? Ie just choose espresso or lungo and add milk like you did here?

      @jeffvance1271 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Smedsters

      Forgot to mention that you can preheat your cup by brewing how water without a Grand Crus into the cup first. You can also adjust the temperature of the coffee and milk by using the select button once you select what drink you're making. Watch my other review videos to see how.

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Vance no shit shots allowed! I've been using the cafe latte function a lot after making my latte art the other day. Or you can brew a shot and milk separate. No difference other than speed of use.

    Hey have you tried making hot chocolate with this machine? I work for Costa Coffee in the UK and we make hot choc by steaming chocolate powder into milk and I wondered if this steak wand could handle that. I have one of these machines on order and I can’t wait to play around with it

    This was a helpful video! I find that the minimum amount of milk required to froth is more than I need in one latte or cappuccino. Any idea on a work around for that? I’m not sure whether I should take off cap foam or pour out milk or something else.

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never used less than the recommended minimum. Even some Nespresso recipes have you steam/froth milk only to use a couple of tablespoons worth so it seems there is occasionally wasted milk.

      maybe you want to double the capsules (crema has to show up), then use either level 4 or 5 milk froth setting, temperature 'hot' or 'very hot' and try it again. Do a 'heart

    Have you tried using almond milk instead of regular milk?

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried almond but I have tried soy. It works well with soy. The protein in any milk is largely responsible for allowing the milk to froth. Take a look as see what almond milks have the most protein and give it a shot!

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! You won't get the same quality milk with the aeroccino. Since the aeroccino doesn't use steam to froth the milk, you don't receive the same micro foam needed for latte art.

  • @jeffvance1271
    @jeffvance1271 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you do 2 ristretto shots just for volume over 1 espresso shot? Or do you find they taste better in a latte? For example would you ever do 2 espresso shots for your latte?

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. I've only been drinking one shot in my latte macchiato using 6 ounces of milk every day using my 8 ounce Starbucks travel mug. Since I was demonstrating the larger 12 ounce latte cup I wanted to double the volume mainly to replicate what I always made on my Breville Oracle since that's what I knew worked with latte art (good balance of coffee and milk). The double ristretto Arpeggio shots with 7 ounces of milk made an excellent drink. I'll try 2 espresso shots the next time...

    Hmm, I have the same machine
    I saw that you chose extra hot which actually somehow makes the machine do the froth better than when setting the temperature to ideal”. This is from my experience with 3% fat.
    Maybe this is due to that the machine then has more time to froth?

    And I'm confused by ristretto. There is a grand crus called ristretto but can't you just make a ristretto shot out of any of the grand Crus? Just like you can make an espresso out of any of the grand crus? Don't understand that concept yet.

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct! Nespresso for some reason named a Grand Crus ristretto which is confusing as ristretto nomenclature typically refers to the type of short expresso extraction. I think it's just a Nespresso thing. On top of that, you brew the ristretto Grand Crus as a ristretto! LOL

    • @hannahs6682
      @hannahs6682 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ristretto is just the name of the capsule, no extraction related reason for it other than it is often referred to as the 'italian blend' although none of our coffee's are actually italian of course. Any capsule besides the lungos will be extracted as both Ristretto and Espresso. Lungo capsules will only be extracted as lungo ( a longer form of espresso at 110ml).
