before i was shiny hunting myself i always thought the reactions were really exaggerated but once you sat there for 19h yourself you understand the emotions when the expected 80h turn into measly minutes

I choose my favorite starter based on what shiny I get, I randomly pick starter pokemon until one becomes shiny, my 1st shiny starter is a female squrtile with sassy nature and then my second is a male Mudkip with sassy nature. Both sassy! 😆

The shiny pinsir reminded me of being 12, running around in the safari zone and coming across one myself unintentionally. It was my first shiny ever and I was immediately heartbroken because I knew it would run. I threw a ball, it ran and I cried a little. Oh well
The Cyndaquil story reminds me of how I was resetting for Mudkip in ORAS. I did it on an off for a year, and picked it up again in college. I decided to reset my save file to get a new trainer ID. The very first Mudkip on the new save was shiny!
I decided to do some statistics, Enjoy! Dratini nature stats: (25^9)/(25^10) = 4% chance that two Pokémon in the same party slot share the same nature. 1/(25^5) = 0.00001024% chance that every Pokémon shares the same nature as it's party slot partner. Shiny odds are 1/1892, which converts to 0.012%. This means you are at least 1000x more likely to find a shiny than for this to happen. Zubat: 72.3% chance that you will have encountered after 10,512 attempts. (different than chance per attempt) 0.01434 % chance for two shinies to appear within 140 encounters. Which means overall, 0.0104% chance of this situation happening. Lapras: 8.6% chance that you will have encountered after 3688 attempts. 0.006561% chance to not flee for 8 turns. 52.97% chance to catch after 8 turns. Overall, a .0029888% chance of these things happening in sequence. Pinsir: 3.86% chance that you will have encountered a 4% spawn rate Pokémon after 8072 attempts. Raiku: 0.35% chance that you will have encountered a shiny after 29 attempts. Cyndaquil: 0.0122% chance that you will have encountered a shiny after 1 attempt (obviously). Mudkip: 61.1% chance that you will have encountered a shiny after 7740 attempts. 0.00746% chance that you will encounter a shiny right after the previous situation happening.
Now that we know RNG manipulation is a thing in this generation though, the odds of this happening consistently are much, much higher then that. As long as he pushed the buttons at the same time and had the same system date on both DS, he'd get an almost exact match each time as far as IVs and Natures go. The only difference would be shinyness because thats determined by PID/TID
Fun fact: My fist shiny was a Shiny Zubat, which I caught in my Original Gold version cartridge. The thing about Zubat is that you can evolve it into either Golbat or Crobat and actually use it in a Mini-game in Pokémon Stadium 2. This means you can actually play as your shiny Golbat or Crobat in Pokémon Stadium 2. And yes, it retains its shininess.

I think my most crazy shinies are my shiny darkrai and wandering latios and latias. Another time was when I got a shiny mudkip in alpha sapphire and I when to train it in the route after and immediately found a shiny zigzagoon and I didn't have any pokeballs so I was forced to knock it out
I know I'm late but that Lapras is a 1 in 18317.312 to catch since you have to take in account 72% because of the amount of safari balls thrown and the 30% encounter rate and the shiny rate
I shiny hunted Araquanid in SWSH for 8 months, used EVERY method to increase my chances, would hatch Dewpider eggs while at the same time hunting them in Crown Tundra, it was a moment where I shed a TEAR once I found it and caught it. I immediately felt a sense of relief and accomplishment. BEST feeling ever when you finally get the one you’re hunting

Ah yes... Double Shine... always intense when it happens! Was shiny hunting Ekans in Pokemon Let's Go: Eevee, got the Ekans, then immediately afterwards, a Shiny Rattata just popped up and said hello. First two shinies of that game, and I have the file still.

Don't know why I picked to do this one at all.
I've been trying to hatch a shiny male Wooper for my boyfriend for an entire year now. I've found 3 shiny female Wooper. Not a single shiny male. An entire year. At least I can't stay made at their little dumb smiley faces. (Once, I shiny hunted a Chatot and while I was grinding it up, I found a shiny Golbat by complete accident. It was amazing! :D )
Using 'and' probabilities (x and y - multiply the odds) to get 5 of the exact same natures, in the exact same order, twice, is 25 to the power of 10. Giving you a total odds of 1 in 95,367,431,640,625
Something I noticed as well which would probably make the odds much lower is the first 3 dratini have the same characteristics. The only possible way that could have probably happened otherwise is if both of those games were started at the same time and have the same Trainer ID and the dratinis that were bought were on the same frame. But seeing that the last 2 had different characteristics but the same nature I highly doubt that. Thats some crazy odds
My favorite shiny story of mine is how my best friend called me on my home phone in middle school, freaking out how she found a shiny unown in ss and the letter was the first initial of her name. I was so excited for her and I felt inspired to do a shiny hunt of my own in hg. My plan was to save in a patch of grass and soft reset for whatever reason (i was not smart) and as I'm walking into the grass I accidentally encounter a pokemon. FIRST ENCOUNTER I GOT A SHINY NIDORAN FEMALE. I was so flabbergasted i ran to my home phone again to call her back and freak out

The natures all being the same in the gamecorner actually has to do with 3rd Gen RNG. You must have SR'd and spawned them on the exact same frames on both games
I've been playing pokemon for 15-20 years at this point. I've own almost every main series game. Other than the static shinys like Gyarados and Gible in Black 2. I've never encountered a shiny.
I’ve only ran across a shiny once or twice in my life of playing Pokémon . I remember when I was a kid I was freaking out, thanks for the sweet nostalgia. Going to buy a shiny magikarp card now :)
What gets me is that they act as if them finding a shiny is unbelievable when in fact it's just a matter of time and they are working toward finding one. That and that It doesn't take skill, just a lot of time. Now finding them randomly when not looking, or crazy occurrences like getting the same shiny 3x (Cyndaquil) or two in a row (Mudkip and Zigzagoon) is pretty cool to see.
I only play Pokémon to shiny hunt and i get pretty excited but there is no way you genuinely get that excited especially after you’ve caught as many as you have 😂💀
A few years ago I was shiny hunting a starter in Soul silver and I actually managed to get a shiny cyndaquil in less than 15 minutes (I didn’t keep track of the amount of resets). I was very excited and I still have it.
Every video I’ve watched you narrate so calmly, but god you have the loudest most extra reactions I’ve seen in any shiny hunter. Normally I’d find it annoying, if you weren’t such a good sport about failing some hunts.

Using 'and' probabilities (x and y - multiply the odds) to get 5 of the exact same natures, in the exact same order, twice, is 25 to the power of 10. Giving you a total odds of 1 in 95,367,431,640,625
Something I noticed as well which would probably make the odds much lower is the first 3 dratini have the same characteristics. The only possible way that could have probably happened otherwise is if both of those games were started at the same time and have the same Trainer ID and the dratinis that were bought were on the same frame. But seeing that the last 2 had different characteristics but the same nature I highly doubt that. Thats some crazy odds

My favorite shiny story of mine is how my best friend called me on my home phone in middle school, freaking out how she found a shiny unown in ss and the letter was the first initial of her name. I was so excited for her and I felt inspired to do a shiny hunt of my own in hg. My plan was to save in a patch of grass and soft reset for whatever reason (i was not smart) and as I'm walking into the grass I accidentally encounter a pokemon. FIRST ENCOUNTER I GOT A SHINY NIDORAN FEMALE. I was so flabbergasted i ran to my home phone again to call her back and freak out
The same thing happened to me with getting my shiny starter Pokémon and then getting a shiny the very next encounter and crying cause no pokeballs yet

I can’t believe the difference in luck (and also partly from persistence) I’ve seen 2 shinies in my life and only caught my be bc the other was in safari zone. My gf has been playing Pokémon since the first Gen and has never encountered a shiny Pokémon 😮
Same! The only shiny I have ever seen in any pokemon game naturally was a shiny machop in Leafgreen when I was like 7. I thought something was wrong with my game so I ran from it out of fear of it corrupting my game lol

The natures all being the same in the gamecorner actually has to do with 3rd Gen RNG. You must have SR'd and spawned them on the exact same frames on both games
Except the natures in the Game Corner clip was HGSS, so gen 4.
I've been playing pokemon for 15-20 years at this point. I've own almost every main series game. Other than the static shinys like Gyarados and Gible in Black 2. I've never encountered a shiny.
This is why I just farm my shinies on pogo, this much dedication would trigger me if I lost a shiny!
I’ve only ran across a shiny once or twice in my life of playing Pokémon . I remember when I was a kid I was freaking out, thanks for the sweet nostalgia. Going to buy a shiny magikarp card now :)

What gets me is that they act as if them finding a shiny is unbelievable when in fact it's just a matter of time and they are working toward finding one. That and that It doesn't take skill, just a lot of time. Now finding them randomly when not looking, or crazy occurrences like getting the same shiny 3x (Cyndaquil) or two in a row (Mudkip and Zigzagoon) is pretty cool to see.
I only play Pokémon to shiny hunt and i get pretty excited but there is no way you genuinely get that excited especially after you’ve caught as many as you have 😂💀
A few years ago I was shiny hunting a starter in Soul silver and I actually managed to get a shiny cyndaquil in less than 15 minutes (I didn’t keep track of the amount of resets). I was very excited and I still have it.
Same. Managed to get a shiny Chikorita in like. Half an hour of attempts.
Then later in the same run I got a shiny golbat.
