  • Hi friends. Today's video is a bit different. I had shared on Instagram recently that I needed to start taking anxiety medication and I was overwhelmed with support and love. So many people reached out to me curious about what it was like to be on medication because they wanted to try it, too, so I wanted to share my first week with you. I am feeling so much better and so hopeful about the positive impact this can have on my life. I hope anyone else reading this struggling with anxiety can find some peace and comfort soon, too. I'm here for you.
    Update: • Anxiety Medication Upd...
I post more frequent updates on my Instagram! Follow me @hello3rdgrade :)
I have a BUNCH of highlights saved with updates on the entire journey. Look for "anxiety 1" and "anxiety 2" and then "ADHD/Bipolar" if that gives you a clue on what my next update will be LOL

I recently started taking lexapro. I’m on week 4 and I have noticed that my anxiety went from a daily 9 out of 10 down to a 2 or 3. I have dealt with depression and anxiety since I was around 17. I’m a 32 year old male and this has been a blessing for me.

Thank you thank you thank you!!💙🙏🏽 I experienced a panic attack in April and it just hyperdrived my depression and anxiety I always terribly kept inside me for years. And I couldn’t stop shaking or being on edge so I put my foot down to get mental help.
I just started this Sunday June 18th and it’s been rough this first week. I accidentally skipped one day because all I did was cry and sleep. Had no motivation or energy to do anything. Day 5 I can feel my mind body slowly changing it’s so surreal. But I am still going through the depression, nausea/loss of appetite, and fatigue phase but watching you gives me so much relief for week 2 and the next weeks. Knowing what’s happening to me right now is natural and ain’t just me getting worse/or medication not working. Just temporary side effects I have to truck through til I reach the goal of the full medication kicking in. Thank you so much.

I’ve been struggling with anxiety for as long as I can remember recently I started having issues with constipation. I thought anxiety was something I could truly handle on my own but today my doctor prescribed me this medication and I’m really nervous videos like yours has given me the courage to speak to my family children and has been about all the side effects and how much I’m going to need their help moving forward. Thank you so much for creating this content to help yourself and those struggling with anxiety or depression.

Thank you so much for making this video. I’m starting on Lexapro tomorrow and was hoping for some insight. I just want to feel like me again. I’m always either feeling hopeless or anxious about something and that was NEVER who I used to be. I used to be described as funny, smiley and so happy. I want to get back to that. I hope you’re journey is still going well. Prayers and hopeful thoughts!

I think it’s really good for society to see people, teachers especially, in a vulnerable place. A lot of pressure for perfection is placed on the profession, and I think there are a lot of people out there who think teachers can be treated like crap and take it all-which isn’t fair. Human beings-we are all human beings. Thank you for putting yourself out there 💜

Sex is great (I’m 52), mood is way better at home and elsewhere…all is good except for one thing : you start eating like crazy and that’s why you should anticipate and watch what you eat from the get go. Good luck!

Hello Third Grade! I love your content in the classroom and now I really admire you for sharing your experience. I have taught for 26 years and then at fifty I experienced severe depression and anxiety attacks. I felt so alone and felt like a failure because no one seemed to understand what I was going through. I felt like I would never be myself again. I understood what you were going through and knew that you would be ok after the meds took effect. I am glad you shared this video because there are so many people who go through it alone. Can't wait to hear from you as you continue to teach and share. You are awesome!!

It will be like a slow easing or lifting of anxiety. If your doctor has started you on the minimal dose, speak to them to possibly increasing the dosage in incremental amounts. I constantly, no matter what, feel short of breath. I thought it was physical for a long time before I was told it was anxiety manifesting physically. I also have an ADHD diagnosis. I am diagnosed with moderate/severe anxiety and moderate depression. I talk with my doctor tomorrow about lexapro and concerta (i HATE adderall. Not for me.). I ALSO am starting as a substitute teacher soon and I am TERRIFIED despite the fact I passed student teaching. Thank you for making me feel like I am not alone.
