I remember being anxious and having panic attacks when I was in preschool … all throughout my school years, kids would bully me because I was always anxious, overly hyper and just weird. High school was the worst part of my life. I knew I was different from other people, but I didn’t understand why. I remember my heart beating fast, sweating, hot flashes, not being able to look people in the eyes, and it was so difficult to make friends. When I was around 25, I started to really wonder what it was that I was feeling, and after doing research I realized I had symptoms of anxiety. I don’t remember not ever having anxiety …it has been with me all my life. I have no friends at all. Making friendships is probably one of the hardest things. I’m 33, and finally considering meds.

Me too, i was against medication, but now I take medication and have a close monitoring with a psychologist and psychiatrist. We have a medical condition, it's not our fault. Please, please, believe me: medication in our case is really helpful, along with therapy and close monitoring. For the past 8 years, I have been grappling with anxiety and panic attacks, particularly while driving, despite having no previous driving-related issues. I was unable to drive on highways and limited to side roads. However, about 1 and a half months ago, my doctor prescribed sertraline. Since starting the medication, my anxiety and panic attacks have decreased by approximately 30-40%, and I can now drive on highways for about 5-10 minutes. Though it may take some time to fully regain my confidence, I am optimistic that the progress will continue, leading to a full recovery.
Snap! I haven’t been able to drive on motorways or carriageways for almost a year, It makes things difficult for sure. I gave into medication and I’m on my first week. Hopefully it’s the right choice. Good luck 🤞🏼
Hi I have been getting anxiety and social anxiety the past year and finally told my doctor about it cause it was starting to affect my daily life. They prescribed me sertraline and I just started taking it this past week and am already starting to feel better!! So glad I finally told my doctor and anyone else who is having anxiety or anything should do the same!!!
I’ve always had anxiety but started experiencing severe panic attacks last year. There was one panic attack where I had to call 911 and sit by the door until paramedics came because I was that close to passing out. It affects all aspects of my life at this point. My dr prescribed me this medication. Day 1 starting today. I’m worried about the side effects but I’m going to give it a fair shot.

Thanks for the informative video without judgement and speaking calmly and clearly, it really helps, this is my second week of Zoloft , I find it has a calming effect that lessens the chance of having a panic attack I guess, previously was on Lexapro but lived through some pretty terrifying alcohol/drug induced panic attacks. I’m very late to this video, but I’m just hoping someone will find this and could maybe reply. I’ve had anxiety since the beginning of highschool and now I’m 20 years old and 2 years into college, but Covid and quarantine really derailed me. I was isolated and my anxiety just only got worse. Now it’s to the point where I hardly leave the house, and I’m anxious to the point of nausea; where I vomit almost every day and it’s honestly ruining my life. It’s taking away opportunities and just not allowing me to even enjoy leisurely activities. I just need to hear from people that this medication helps and is safe.

I’ve been struggling with anxiety my entire life and didnt even realize it. I thought it was just a normal part of life. But now, being 22, anxiety has led to constant panic attacks with no known conscious reason(s), which has made me realize that there has been something wrong the entire time. My dad has severe anxiety and panic attacks and gave me Xanax for when it’s needed. I took some one day and I was mostly calm for that entire day, which made me realize that I have anxiety and panic disorder. Getting through every day feeling normal is near impossible it feels. Regular every day tasks are extremely difficult. Im considering going on medication for it this week to get my life back. I understand the side effects, and the fact that I will probably be on the meds for the rest of my life, and im OK with that if that’s what it takes for me to feel normal again, and have my life back. LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life . I became a better version of myself This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body . It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine , this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip : Everything is alright . The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me ( although it's not gone ) . Before all I could do was lay in bed . Like you I been an anxiety sufferer for many many years, I had some panic attacks in the past that truly scarred me and made me a social recluse, but, I also hated the idea of being medicated and taking medicines for something I felt I could work out on my own, I have used Xanax, Propranolol on and off, during my last episodes of anxiety I seen a psychiatrist who prescribed Zoloft, and again I am hesitant although I have been taking it and it helps, I hope that I can find a way to be meds free and control my anxiety but if I can't then I will not be abusive to myself and will continue taking the medications as prescribed, the kindest words I heard from my doctor was "Is not your fault", sometimes we can struggle and deny we need the meds, but also sometimes is in our genes, and is not our fault.

Hi have had epilepsy attack once in my life when i was about 23 yrs. I took anti epileptic medicines for about 7 years and stopped. Then i started to experience the tremors and the panic attacks and consulted a psychiatrist. I was given medication for anxiety for 1.5 years. I was completely fine during medication. Once I stopped medicines, then i got panic attacks again. My doctor says that undergoing anxiety medication again is really not good as it will have serious side effects on the mental health at later part of your life. Now he has taught me some relaxation techniques that is kind of subsiding my anxiety. But it will not take you out of panic attacks completely. But will help to deal with it. I recommend too much medication is not good in long run!

@@ItsIndiraChannel that's understandable. I've been on an SSRI for 23 years bc I felt good enough on it and so I didnt want to mess with anything. Eventually my system got used to the dosage I was on and so my doctor doubled my dose. That caused a lot of adverse reactions (mania/suicidal ideation). After a couple of years of chasing symptoms, I finally realized it was the SSRI that was causing me so much harm. I finally realized that after so many years, the meds had blunted me emotionally and I had no connection to myself. The meds also blocked me from truly accessing the source of my issues/hurt. I'm now 8 months into tapering and it's my most successful taper yet. It was tough at first but mainly bc I had to educate myself around tapering. If you ever need help getting off, I recommend Will Hall's "Harm Reduction Guide." It can be difficult to get off of SSRIs but it is possible!

I feel you, i'm 41,and suffered depression and anxiety since i was a child. Me too, i was against medication, but now I take medication and have a close monitoring with a psychologist and psychiatrist. We have a medical condition, it's not our fault. Please, please, believe me: medication in our case is really helpful, along with therapy and close monitoring. Daily, simple routines help a lot as well to not be overwhelmed by daily chores, etc. Please take an appointment with a good physician that will help you get the help you need and little by little, your life back.
Same here, when I have to drive outside my town its just... not gonna happend.. Im still refusing meds idk for how long.
Snap! I haven’t been able to drive on motorways or carriageways for almost a year, It makes things difficult for sure. I gave into medication and I’m on my first week. Hopefully it’s the right choice.
Good luck 🤞🏼

I hope you’re okay and well now ❤️

I’m supposed to go up in dosage next week so I’m not going to give up but I’m so tired of living like this., it has taken over my entire life ans it is absolutely the worst more terrifying thing I have ever experienced. I am very hopeful after seeing your video.
Thank you for sharing this video.

LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life . I became a better version of myself This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body . A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken . One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot . It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine , this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip : Everything is alright . The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me ( although it's not gone ) . Before all I could do was lay in bed . Like you I been an anxiety sufferer for many many years, I had some panic attacks in the past that truly scarred me and made me a social recluse, but, I also hated the idea of being medicated and taking medicines for something I felt I could work out on my own, I have used Xanax, Propranolol on and off, during my last episodes of anxiety I seen a psychiatrist who prescribed Zoloft, and again I am hesitant although I have been taking it and it helps, I hope that I can find a way to be meds free and control my anxiety but if I can't then I will not be abusive to myself and will continue taking the medications as prescribed, the kindest words I heard from my doctor was "Is not your fault", sometimes we can struggle and deny we need the meds, but also sometimes is in our genes, and is not our fault.
very true!! sometimes we cannot control what our bodies do with just meditating and such. I think we all could be a little kinder to ourselves :)

Benzodiazepines?
Thank you. 😊 We tend to accept the stress we have as normal life. it's not. if you're loosing friends, jobs, sleep problems, staying inside too much.... you need help. Anxiety can be chemical and required for a happy life BUT. Sometimes it's your brain telling you something is wrong with your life. Chase happy, not money. Good luck everyone. ❤

I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better. However, what happens if/when you need to come off the SSRI? It can be really difficult to taper off.
very true it is tough to come off of. Although I don't plan on going off of them for sometime
That’s the thing that makes me nervous about medicine because it’s hard to come off of. I’ve been trying non-medicine coping strategies, but it’s not working and I need solutions to eliminate or significantly reduce this anxiety because it is impacting me on a daily basis in MANY ways!
Helped me keep my job, but I'm pretty much a robot now. 2 months in.
I am74 and have had anxiety for six months and I am now taking sertraline at 100 mg. Not perfect but it helps a lot. Everyone is different and has different effectiveness. The phrase almost passed out feeling was something I can relate to..

@@ItsIndiraChannel hey so glad help you God bless you millions of people have just created havoc in their lives but I'm glad works for you keep following your heart and do what you love to do
But what the hell are we supposed to do if you suffer extremely 24/7 with severe mental illnesses and trauma and have tried everything but don’t get better + you have a wierd sleeping disorder.. I can’t bare the thought of becoming impotent(and I already suffer with my sexuality and sex ability), emotionally numb/like a robot and sleeping issue/suffering gets worse? What can I do, I don’t want to go back to Prozac but my severe 24/7 mental illnesses is killing me. And nothing is working.. I don’t thing science have come up with a solution other than these “meds”..
Try enrolling in troriluzole trials, I don't know much about it other than it targeting another neurotransmitter, maybe with other meds U will find a bit of relaxation, my prayers for U 🙏
Try psychedelic therapy

Hello. My son is new to college. He is having anxiety even thinking about doing assignments. He is ok in class. What dosage helped you with anxiety and panic attacks?
Good question! I am taking 50mg and it seems for me to be the perfect amount
Nona Martone, There is a solution to every problem if there is a desire and determination. . For a relaxed life without anxiety and depression sit on a chair, back and spine erect, hands on your lap with palms upwards, close your eyes and do nothing. Be still without moving and observe your inhalation-exhalation breathing and body sensations for around 10-15 minutes. What is important is to be as still as possible. Plenty of thoughts will come but slowly negative thoughts will reduce or vanish slowly. The mind is reprogrammed to develop your mental muscles. Do twice daily or as per your convenience. This could be life-transforming if you desire change. Take charge of your life. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.
@@shyaaammeneen63 This method does not work for everyone!

Thank you so much for this posting. I had crippling Anxiety since my teenage years, I took Benzos as and when needed because thanks God these attacks of like you say 'High Anxiery' were few and far between but they were debilitating. I would never have considered taking meds but my doctor recommended Sertraline, I declined it but I am reconsidering it now. Does it make you gain weight tho?
Thanks so much for sharing your experience
Do you get any side effects taking the medication ?
Good question! I luckily did not but it depends on each person
