    The MG30 sounded way better than I thought it would and I like both units (for different reasons.) I am impressed that any modeller with as many options as the MG30 can be offered at such a reasonable price.

    Great demo and review as usual! Thanks for doing this one. It was very hard to tell the real amps from the modelers in the mix. I actually preferred the POD Go in the more sounds section, but I'm biased as I have one and really like it. I think the MG-30 really sounded great too. God bless and rock on 👍😎🎸

    Fantastic, thank you Leo! I did think the Nux sounded grittier so the top boost comment makes sense. Really leaning towards the MG 30 as my next purchase. I have been very happy with my Mighty Plug for quiet practice so if the MG 30 offers similar or better quality, its a winner for me. Thank you again and I must say I really enjoyed your playing!

    Very very nice and solid review! My first impression in the tone comparison was also that the MG-30 was a touch more gainy as you pointed out later. I was surprised that you used the same settings on each unit because I would indeed have expected them to sound more different with the same settings. I've reduced the input level in the Pre-Eq on my MG-30 a little bit which would put them in this case even closer together. Its stunning what modelers in affordable price ranges can reach today - both units where quite close to the real amp. Was there any difference in playing dynamics between MG-30 and PodGo? I've heard from a direct source that the MG-30 will get more amps and effects later this year. I think the point NUX makes about quality over quantity is valid - but some very typical amps are missing. The 5051 for example - for metal it is definitely a must. Fortunately NUX already reported that the 5051 will come. Other amps I would like to see is Orange, ENGL and Dumble. Interesting would be to offer additional channels of the existing amps (clean/overdrive channels) - the range could easily broadened by including channel variants I think.

    Hello Leo. Thanks a lot for your videos, really appreciate them. I had to choose one video to answer so I took this one :)
    I wanted to replace a pretty old multi effects thats was not that good but helped me a lot in repetitions with by band, where I had to go generally using my motorbike, the guitar on the back. Having a small unit is a plus for me.
    I listened to all your comparison videos (and a lot more on youtube globally), but yours made me come to the final decision. Especially comparison with other effects and a real amp.
    That convinced me about the sound, I made a bet on the NUX, due to the size and the provided 2 additional buttons for acting on effects.
    pod go seemed more flexible on that but not the size.
    I don't need 50 amps or thousands effects, your video was clear on that, the NUX provides enough for my needs.
    Sounds are better when the unit is directly plugged in soundcard or helmets, far, far better than my previous multi effects.
    I think the bet has been won, not talking about the price !. Immense thanks for that ! Best

    I am a previous owner of a zoom g5n, sold it, and am waiting for mg30 to become available where I live. This week a very good pod go deal showed up and I went to do some research. I found out that the Pod Go has the same big issue of the G5n of having a weak DSP, as so, despite having good sounds we get hard limited with which we can choose because DSP limit is very easy to reach, that is very frustrating. I think if the multi effects face this problem of weak DSP is something that worth mentioning in the cons of the unit, at least for me, who is traumatized lol. Doesn't matter much having 10fx blocks if it is hard to put more than 6 or 7 actives due to this problem right?
    Thanks for your channel! Really appreciate the amazing music when showing in the mix and the information provided!

    As a floor unit, I think the Pod Go is better. I also prefer a user interface that has images of the real devices. But over time, I've come to appreciate the "sterile" look of the Line 6 user interface, as it helps break old associations with what each device and parameter can do and how it can be used.

    Hi Leo,
    Great comparison, very well done.
    The NUX sounded very much better to me compared to the Pod vs original amps but I wonder if the same sound can't be achieved with tweaking the parameters of the Pod.
    But, I own a MG-30 and it costs less and sounds already amazing so for me it's a winner.
    Just one correction to your video Leo: the NUX DOES have midi connectivity.
    They offer it via USB so it can directly be controlled via a computer however: it can not directly be controlled by a midi-switch as the NUX is not a midi master.
    It can be done but then you'll need a midi-master box in _between.
    Thanks for your work, very well done and I like the acent :-) !!

      I have owned my PodGo almost a year now and I love it. You will probably LOVE the incredible sounds. Remember that even if you liked the sounds you heard from the Nux better, you can probably tweak both units to get closer to whatever you want and need in your own home with your own signal chain. Either one, into a good powered cabinet or FRFR will be amazing. My one complaint about the PodGo is that I wish there were more options for how to set up the stomp switches. I hate it when I want to get into or out of snapshot mode and the only way to do it is to press the up and down arrow buttons together. What a horrible choice.
      If I had the MG30 it would frustrate me having SO FEW footswitches. I would like to have the drum machine from the MG30 though.
      Both are cool. For what you get, you get a LOT MORE PER DOLLAR/EURO from the PodGo, than you get from the MG30. Unlike Leo, I really do like to try all the different effects in the POD GO, and I do use most of the amp models. The presets in the PodGo are really mediocre.
      I suggest to Leo if he were to make a nice pack of Presets for the PodGo they might sell well besides the pack of IRs which Leo is offering, which seems like a good deal.

      @WarrenPostma 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@beku73 I think you will love it. One HeadRush FRFR-108 is awesome, but TWO of them is even better. You can do both a wet-dry and a room-filling effect with a pair, plus you get stereo delay and stereo modulation effects with TWO. With one, you will get amazing sound for the price.
      Check out LEO's IR pack by the way. Good way to support the channel. User loaded IRs sound much better than the built in cab models in the PodGo.

    The NUX is very good, but it has more of that high frequency "digital" distortion and the Pod Go is smoother. The Pod Go has so many tweakable parameters that you can literally dial in pretty much anything you want. A great Friedman BE model :) and also EVH's brown sound (check out other vids. There is one that has the VH tones spot on. It should be the better of the two. It has the same modeling processor as Helix' top of the line unit.

    I sold my Mooer GE-250 and my Zoom G5n (both are great multi-effects pedals) and bought the Nux MG-30. My first pedalboard was the Nux Mg-300 which was so good that I didn't hesitate to buy the new pedalboard from
    Nux. I still have the MG-300, but it is resting in peace as I mistakenly connected the mixer's power supply to the pedalboard and the Nux uses reversed polarities (negative on the center pin and positive on the outside).😢

    Plz guide me.. my uses are only the fender marshall and vox amp sim , good quality reverb delay crunch and slight overdrive.. no complex effects
    Can the nux mg 30 deliver same or if not better tone depth in comparision to the pod go.. or is the hotone ampero one better than these .. however I am slightly leaning towards mg 30.. but will go as per your suggestion.

    Hi Leo. Again a great video with lots of details. For me, both the POD and the Nux didn't get too close to the real deal. Vox: The real amp has a lot of dynamics which both modellers are missing. The Nux is distorting in the high frequencies, which sounds cheap and is known from early VSTs. The POD sounded "tame" and different from the Vox, without the slight distortion the real Vox has. Soldano: The real amp has a very pleasant character in the lower mids. This is where the magic happens. The Nux lacks all of it while giving the ugly higher frequency distortion again. The POD also misses all the lower mids. Both units lack the "mojo", which leads to a more "percussive" sound from the real amp. If I had to chose, I'd still prefere the POD since it doesn't sound like an approach to emulate distortion from the early 2000s. But truly there is something missing. For live sessions I'd play the POD anytime. For real studio recordings, both units fall flat against the real amps. Thank you for this great video. Cheers!✌

      @LeoGibsonGtr  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You, thank you both for the compliments and for sharing this detailed analysis...let me just add, that so far, the VOX is one of the less accurate simulation we have from all the modelers...I mean there are very very good sims of the Plexi, or the JCM 800, but I found the VOX to be always a step back in terms of modeling quality compared to other amps...
