    Smokin’ lead playing Leo!
    I’m impressed with the realism of the JCM800 model - it reproduces the signature Marshall percussive attack, and sonic characteristics.
    I’d love to hear some more high-gain shred tones, and determine if it can get modern chug tones, for example from the Uberschall model.
    Cheers~

    I was worry about the footswitch amount limited to just 3 and asked few youtubers if the MG-30 could be switched externally by a midi controller. But! Your demo was so clear and show the two-button pedal included. That is a huge plus for me!
    Excellent demo and incredible tone and playing! Greetings from Spain

      Let me just point out that so far, I've been able to use the two footswitches of the NMP2 just to switch on and off effect (stomp mode), but not for switching presets...So far, I don't know if it is just me, or if it is gonna be modified in future firmware updates.

    There have been two feature updates for this unit with a lot of good stuff. Usability (IR collection for quick switching between IRs), more flexible FX chain by switching between block types CMP, EFX and MOD (you can have multiple of those at the same time). More options with USB recording (recording wet and dry at the same time, loopback). More midi options. Some new amps and effects and cabs. The new "scene" function to quickly switch multiple pedals on/off. A "reverb freeze feature". Auto record on looper. Even more stuff coming later this year.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, thank you, I'm happy you like the demo songs!! The demo songs have been recorded via the USB connections actually.
      Honestly I was using the MG 300 via analog connections, while here I'm using USB connectivity...so I can tell if the MG 300 has such problems, but the MG 30 seems to be working pretty well with usb connectivity. Of course, if you use the unit with via USB your audio interface, you always have to synchronize the clocks, otherwise the sound is gonna be ruined.
      Thank you for your message!

      @@LeoGibsonGtr Thanks for taking out the time to reply, Leo!
      I feel that the higher gain amps (JCM800 and higher) on the NUX are extremely compressed when using USB recording (without a compressor in the chain). Haven't tried analog recording, though. The cleaner amps are fine - Fender and the likes.

    Great video as usual Leo and demo song. That JCM800 tone is right up my alley! I've been waiting for this review as I'm in the market for a replacement for my Line 6 Firehawk FX. I think this would fill that bill nicely. I'd like to see a head-to-head with the MG-30 and the POD Go. I know the POD is more expensive, but I think people in the market for something like this may compare the two (I know I am). I agree, I don't like the absence of the XLR outputs, but I can probably deal with it for good sound and some of the other cool features (parallel effects and extra footswitch included is awesome!) God bless and rock on.

    It's very impressive for its price. I love BOSS but the biggest problem I have with them is the interface. I've been using Boss pedals since 1994 and despite growing with their way of doing things I find the GX100 really hard to use. This interface looks MUCH better. I wish Boss would similarly figure out how to do a GUI.

  • @chedu77
    @chedu77 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think one of the reasons that some of the first review/demos are sounding worse than expected has to do with the volumes and gain staging. I tend to run the amps master almost fully open on most of the modelos on my nux mg-300., and the master level on the unit aroun 30-40%, because I use it mainly for headphone practice Sounds better to me, more open, but I also use external IRs. Maybe that could be a good idea for a follow up video on this unit amp's master vs patch/master level, and how gain staging differs from the nux mg-300, because this one has a different structure. It has pre-eq block plus new (usable) compressors, then it has the new power amp section but lacks a volume level on the built in cabs. Since you're very methodical on your reviews, I think you could really dig in to all that, and it would be pretty useful to all the community.

    I’m leaning towards the mx5 but only till I get an fm9 as it’s got two of the best fx simulations of rotary and univibe in a modeling unit. Its also got good presets from some of the best preset creators so it’s sounding like a great option. I’ve had an LT and so I’ve heard line 6’s versions and headrush is a superior unit for rotary and univibe sounds and I need these two fx because of my endless Hendrix tone quest and both of these fx are very expensive to buy a great pedal like a neo ventilator or a sabadius Gypsy vibe. Those 2 alone would cost you well over $1000 and the mx5 is only $400.

      How do you like the MX5? I had a FM9 too. Amazing but hated the UI so I sold it. I just ordered a MG30 to tie me over until Fractal finally updates their UI. I want a nice big colorful screen- ideally a touchscreen and easier on unit editing like QC. The tones however are there but the user experience needs to be better if I am paying ~$1,800.

    Hi Leo, I've been following your channel for a few months. I restarted playing guitar after twenty years but I had abandoned digital for a long time before (since the 9000 zoom times ... I still have it but as an archaeological object ...). Now the world has completely changed and digital is a real alternative. Indeed, the two systems can also be effectively hybridized with, for example, the 4-cable method. So one thing I liked about Nux MG 30 is the presence of the send and return. As a comparison request, I would be interested in a comparison between this pedalboard and the NUX MG 300 (sounds but above all for features such as looper, drum machine, etc.). Until the news of the release of this higher-end model it was my choice ... it was hard to wait almost two months for your presentation. I agree, but you have already answered in other comments, to the request for comparison with ampero ...

    Hi Leo! I have a completely unrelated question to the NUX NG30 topic here (fantastic demo by the way!! It's clear and very informative and your playing quality makes it easy to understand the possible nuances one could get out of that piece of gear. Great work so I subscribed happily, thank you!). I noticed you were wearing a little square item on your shirt which looks to me like a sort of bluetooth mic. If so I'd be very interested myself to know what it is if you could spare a moment telling me what it is. I couldn't read the logo and I would really appreciate to know more about it. Thank you very much. All the best to you.

      Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the video and the playing and your subscription really means a lot. As regards the mic, in this video I was using a Rode Wireless GO, even if I switched to a DJI Mic, as it has the possibility to record audio internally at 32 bit, without the need to connect to a camera or a computer. Maybe the wireless GO II has introduced this feature...but I'm not quite sure.
      Thank you!!!!

    Hi Leo. I bought the MG300 and have been very happy with it. Will you be doing a comparison of the MG30 with the Pod Go and the Ampero? I was planning to upgrade to a Pod Go but now I am conflicted and the MG30 is less expensive too. By the way, I think your comparison videos are the best! Ciao Leo, non mi crederai ma,.... avevo previsto il video di oggi ;-)
    Eccellente, come al solito.
    La mia opinione? L'MG30 è l'esatta via di mezzo tra le Mooer che hai citato. I suoni sono eccellenti ma , per i miei gusti, manca l'emulazione più importante di tutte 5150 o EVH. Quindi preferirei prendere l'MG-300 e risparmiare il resto per un delle Mooer.

      Check Leo's TH-cam "Ampero Control Full review" where he shows how to control the MG30 with the Ampero. My only problem is that this method requires keeping a phone connected between the Ampreo and the MG30 using bluetooth and an adapter, which I wouldn't want to do at a gig. I really hope someone comes up with a way to do it without the phone staying connected.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Pablo, really appreciated! I have to make a direct comparison to be able to tell the difference. The main differences that I see are the greater connectivity of the stomp that for instance has stereo fx loop and the longer effect signal chain of the MG 30 that has 11 blocks.
      Thank yo for your question!

  • @makingmusiconline2309
    @makingmusiconline2309 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd love it to have a stereo FX loop so I could put stereo pedals in there. And yes, balanced outputs would be great.
    I agree that it sounds great, especially for the price.
    I assume that it is MIDI controllable through the USB port? That would be good to know.
    Did it come with a cable to connect the footswitch to the main unit?
    I'd love to hear more thoughts about how much it is a good choice for a pedalboard replacement, and what, if any, additional effects you'd consider adding (or replacing the internal effects). For example the distortion, the types of tubescreamer, the range of delay types and sounds (e.g. does it have a good echorec pedal). Can more effect models be downloaded from the NUX site in the future, or is it pretty much fixed with what comes in it.
    And finally I'd love to hear how it compares with the Line6 HX products (Stomp and Effects in particular).
    Thank you!

      It does sound more realistic, but the MG300 defaults to a more compressed sound which can be a simpler "first" sound than having to setup your tone in MG-30. MG-30 is definitely more versatile it does sound more bright by default. This means you have to e.g. push the bottom end a bit if you're after a "fuller" sound.

    1: Does anyone know how does the pitch shifting work? I'd love to be able to use a whammy in my effects chain to do the 2 octave up thing (Morello style) and Mooer GE200 and Ampero seem to be lacking in this department. Is the NUX any different? Can it even go 2 octaves up?
    2: Stellar playing! Do you happen to have songs on spotify or something so I can add them to my playlists? Great review either way!

    Hi leo,thanks for your demo,its really informative,only one question..do you think its better than mooer 300 lite if its the same price?

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, you are welcome and I'm happy that you find the video informative! Well, it's pretty hard to so assertive...I would say that it depends from your needs...for instance if you want to load profiles done with the GE lab app or you can profile your amp...the GE 300 is better, on the other hand if you want to build parallel effect chain...than the MG 30 is the unit to go.
      Therefore I would say that it depends from your need.
      Thank you!

    Hello Leo, your videos are an incredible guide, they are very helpful 😃, but I have a question, recently I wanted to purchase one, but they told me that it has 2 versions "VI" and another "VM", the difference is that you can edit one in the PC and the other not, my question is if they are some kind of clone or something like that since I did not find information about these "versions" 😮‍💨and thanks for your amazing videos!

      Hi, thank you so much, I'm really happy that you appreciate the videos and find them useful!!!
      I'm really sorry, but I don't know the differences about VI and VM...actually I even didn't know there were these versions. Maybe it's better if you ask directly to NUX
      Obviously, if someone knows, please drop here a message
      Thank you!

      @@LeoGibsonGtr thank you for your answer! apparently there are some clones that are not really Nux, that's why they don't work on the PC, thank God I already got an original Nux 😄

    Great, as usual, Leo 😉 La qualità dell'uscita USB come scheda audio è buona? può sostituire una buona scheda audio esterna? Grazie!

    bilanciate?

      Grazie mille!!! Se devi utilizzare cavi molto lunghi allora è meglio usare un DI box per poter usare cavi bilanciati XLR.

    Nice review Leo! I think this compares with the GE200 in price and it is lower in price than the Line 6 Pod GO and the GE250 but I'd like to see a comparison of the 4 of them in a shootout like you have done with others. Thanks.

      Hi, thank you!!!
      You are right, it's main competitors are the GE 200 and the Ampero one...a comparison of the four of them would be could and even a pretty "intense" job....

    Can this duplicate effects, such as having multiple delays simultaneously?

    hello everyone, total 5 footswitches (including 2 external). My preference is stompbox mode. Can this be done with nux mg30?
    1 delay
    1 boost (eq or comp)
    1 chorus
    1 overdrive/distortion
    1 reverb

    Wow. This is almost enough to stop me pulling the trigger on a Pod Go.
    I guess the only question left is how long before we can expect to see the Amazon Basics floor modeler version. What do you suppose they’d call it, the AB-30? ;)
