- There is no official audition going on but I want to give it a shot just in case the band is searching for a new drummer. I have always liked this band and their music.
They influenced me quite a lot in my early years of drumming.
We used no triggering or drum replacements on this recording.All natural sound! Drums were recorded in Vienna AUSTRIA by my friend Norbert Leitner.
I have to say it wasn't as easy as i thought. This album was recorded without a click track which means you have to really feel this song to play through.

Now keep in mind with how insanely good this cover is, that Joey did all of what he's doing while headbanging super hard and while live on stage in front of thousands and thousands of people. And then with later songs rotated 90 degrees vertically while spinning and STILL playing this good.
What an absolute beast of a drummer Joey was, and this cover was super well done. Fantastic job.

+woo wee it's actually not that hard. Low tuned bassdrum and some eq and you got your bass sound.. Check some of my videos out and comment if you like the bass sound, i'll tell you how i got the exact bass sound. Have a great day :)
+woo wee First you gotta tune your kick higher, and then you worry about mic placement, normally you put a dynamic mic right in front of the beater to get tons of attack and brightness of the kick, and then maybe use a secondary mic either off-centered or just out outside the kick drum (watch out for phase in this case) for capturing low-freq just as an insurance in case you get too much highs from the centered mic. But don't take my word for it and just try it for yourself, I'm not very seasoned in drum miking and still learning :)

playing this song make drummers suffer, imagine then how good is joey for not only playing it but also creating it. joey is from another world.
When you see Krimh play these Slipknot tracks, you can't help but realise how good Joey was to write this stuff. It's so got so much groove and feel. I know he's not technically awesome (Krimh and thousands of other metal drummers shit on him in that department) but he is bloody good and you can't fault the guy for sheer fun, listenable, head popping, speedy metal.

Literally my favourite musicians on TH-cam and one of my (dare to say) favorite musicians PERIOD! Hes So technically efficient. You can tell he takes his playing very serious and his intensity shows how passionate he is about music in general. I've always loved to watch how a drummers that have been training their skills upon black/death metal genre play a slightly simpler drum parts. The technicality and speed that is gained from those drumming styles added to these types of song just make them ten times better. TL;DR - I doubt there is a better Slipknot drum cover on TH-cam.
way too many miss the groove and feel of certain songs because they've trained themselves to play like technical machines. Krimh gets it right.
I miss old Slipknot, from the selfitled era. Joey's drumming was the best back in the day. I mean like, he had to watch out so he won't play too fast, headbanging at the same time. That was from another world.

I think he would have been a better drummer for Slipknot than Jay. No hate on Jay, but Krimh plays more Joeys style in my opinion, and probably would have came up with more interesting drum parts on their newest album.

Gotta say, this is absolutely clinical. Great reproduction of Joey's style. I've never been a Slipknot fan really, but they kick ass live and I've always loved Joey (saw him play with Metallica, best they ever sounded). Always thought this was their best track I and think I even prefer it like this with the drums so high in the mix. I love DnB and a lot of this is close to 160bpm. (Hence the jungle sample at the start).
