I am 75 years old and watching this movie the first time took me back to my youth, I felt I was reborn. I have seen the movie 5 times now and I am beyond obsessed with you and this movie. Thank you Austin Butler for being so true to Elvis, he was so gifted and humble he was a beautiful person in and out his voice was like no other. I hope you win the well deserved OSCAR!!
I've been an Elvis fan for years. This guy has figured out how to portray a legend without looking like a fake or a copy - a true actor! Well done to him for researching the role, it really shows he put his whole heart and soul into it. He deserves the Oscar 👏🏽👏🏽
Yes, he really embodied Elvis's humanity. He made him a real person, not a cardboard cut-out. I feel like all the other Elvis movies I've seen, the actor just portrays Elvis as a one-dimensional cardboard cut-out, there's no humanity there, no flesh-and-blood. But Austin turned Elvis into a real person, a multi-faceted, real human.

I hope he stays out of Hollywood's clutches. Make sure you see the duet with Frank Sinatra and Elvis from the old Sinatra show. I saw it for the first time yesterday and was blown away. Beautiful harmony and on stage "buddy chemistry". Elvis had a magical and electric presence.

There are many good singers before and since, but Elvis was cut from a different cloth. Every interview I’ve seen with Butler I’ve been very impressed - you’re so right: his humility, shyness, his WORK ETHIC!! I really hope, like you, he stays away from the darkness in Hollywood and that this launches him into his own greatness. There is so much in this movie that we need right now. It reminds me a bit of the movie Amadeus - both movies about geniuses in the music world, both changed the face of music, both life stories told by someone else who does not have their best interests in mind, both movies full of factual pieces of the lives depicted, but not without the mistakes. (i always say - if you want a movie full of facts only, watch a documentary.) I am glad that I remember Elvis from when he was here; I am sad that he struggled so much and got lost in life. This movie will return honour to him and help this generation and those to come connect to this amazing man.

I never heard of Austin Butler, until the Elvis movie. I was going to wait until it was on tv, although I took a friend for her birthday, to see Elvis. We both loved it. She turned 70 and I will soon. Austin reminds me of the younger Elvis. I went with my Dad to watch the movies Elvis was in. To me Austin did excellent portraying the legendary Elvis; tough act to follow. Hats off to Austin and definitely a standing ovation 👏🏻 to Austin. He certainly will be remembered for this huge responsibility he took on, being Elvis. I’m going again to see Elvis, it brought back a lot of memories and tears. I’m grateful I saw “Elvis” in concert, the year before he sadly passed away. ❤️❤️❤️

Not just a copy, but it was almost like Butler channeled Elvis. What I think went into that was the work Butler did ... from what I've heard, I think very few actors have the WORK ETHIC and perseverance and dedication Butler had to his craft and this role. What we see is not 'luck', but work. Lots and lots of work. I'm sure he has a gift, but a gift without work can come and go ... what you see is something very few people have today. They recognize what they think needs to be recognized for the time. There are good things in that, however really good art, really good craftsmanship, really good acting, are often overlooked. I’m a huge Oscar fan. I watch it faithfully every year and I do my best to see every movie that’s up for best picture nomination. And there are frequent times I disagree with their final choice in various categories. However Butler’s work in this film is unprecedented in my opinion. If he is not recognized now, it is certain that he will at a later point. If not with the Oscars, then with something else. I think the young man is brilliant beyond words, and not not just from what you see in this film. There is CHARACTER there that many do not have. What you see in this film is the tip of the iceberg. I will have him on my radar from now on and make the effort to see everything he does.

I see it has helped him getting tips from Rami Malek how to throw himself into the part of a music icon...His performance is right up there with Malek's Freddie Mercury and Val Kilmer's Jim Morrison.
If talent and skill in a performance mattered, then yes. I agree with you. It is an Oscar Worthy nominee performance. Unfortunately political correctness has ruled the Oscars for more than a few years. You seem to forget before virus19, black talent wanted to boycott the Oscars for it being "too white." Now we have to wonder if politics factors in to winning awards. Did Jamie Foxx win for Ray because his performance was amazing? Or because Ray Charles was a black singer during the Jim Crow era? Did Rami Malek win because his performance was amazing? Or because Freddie Mercury was a gay singer who died during the AIDS epidemic in the 80s? I am betting that political correctness will not allow the Oscar to go to an actor playing a straight white man who waited for his wife to be of legal age before marrying her. Hollywood needs to celebrate and honor something sad or marginalized or depraved. Hollywood needs to virtue signal so they can pretend to be stunning and brave. Remember, this is the show where more people thanked Harvey Weinstein than thanked God for their success and recognition. This is the same city who threw Harvey to the wolves when his secret finally got out. After the actresses got their roles, awards, breaks and paychecks, they finally served Harvey his justice. This is the same award show that snubbed The Passion of Christ for its subject matter and characters, without even looking at performance, etc. Studios refused to hire Mel Gibson for years after it's release. But Hope... Hope is a good thing. Just don't hold your breath. It will probably go some Ukrainian themed movie so liberals and progressives can say Putin bad, Build Back Better.
This movie is incredible! You feel as though You ARE seeing Elvis. Having grown up listening to his music, I can say that Austin Butler’s take on the “King” is astounding!!
I learned a lot about Elvis by watching this. I was born in 77, the same year he died, so, to me, growing up, I remember, as a kid, always seeing Elvis in the tabloids at the supermarket....'elvis's face in a piece of toast', etc. That kind of tabloid garbage. So I never took him seriously as an artist, because all I rememberd seeing of him as a kid was all this junk in the tabloids, and they always showed the later, heavy, Elvis, in tacky outfits and stuff in the tabloids. But after seeing this amazing movie, I got curious about Elvis, and read and watched all kinds of stuff, and, wow, very impressed! Seems like a funny, humble, sweet, genuine person.
I attended many Elvis shows, watched him move, smile, perform, sweat, and Austin is channeling EP, without a doubt. Closest to Elvis I’ve ever since witnessed.

There is a sculpting, distinctively EP in the upper side cheek area, you can't fake with makeup. Austin has it to the same degree. Vanessa H was dating him prior to the casting, of the film. Prior to even knowing about the film, she saw EP in him and told him they needed to make it happen. He HAD to get an Elvis role...and within a few weeks the word was out an Elvis film was in the works and the search for an EP was on! Denzel Washington may have made the introduction, but Vanessa saw it first.
Definitely does not look like Elvis but in character, the behaviour, mannerisms, expressions are Elvis on point! Most of all, Austin also has the charisma!

I'm 42 and an African American growing up I would watch Elvis movies and was scolded because I was yold he was racist. I hidden that love for along time and took the chance to see the movie. Omg Austin did an amazing job and this really uncovered the truth of his character. Thank you for opening that love again and showing us his truth. Elvis didn't steal our music he introduced it to the world. Elvis was the breaking stone for humanity and the African American community. I know my people will go against my opinion but I truly believe every African American should see this movie it changes the whole native on who we were told who Elvis was.
Never heard a black person have a bad word for Elvis tbh. It seems to be white people who want to be offended on behalf of all black people.m without asking us how we feel. Personally, I don't feel he stole black music or moves, he grew up with gospel and blues, he sang what he knew and loved. He loved being around black people and black culture, he treated black people in his life as equals and with love and respect. There are plenty of interviews with black people who knew him that illustrate that he was a kind man, who treated them well, his black employees loved him and they felt he loved them too, he paid well, and didn't want to be called Boss, but brother. He was white and had the opportunity to bring black music to white America and inspired a lot of white Americans to seek out black music and black artists they may never have otherwise been exposed to. Elvis never claimed credit for this music, he openly on states that rock and roll is really just an updated form of gospel music and rhythm and blues.
There's so many moments in this movie when I was convinced Elvis was there Austin Butler moved me and had me crying. Elvis had a sad life and this young made it real. Thank you for your portrayal ... the world loves it!!
I saw it a second time today after two weeks. The first time I saw it, I was shocked at how much Austin looked and acted and danced like elvis. I decided to see it again and really pay attention to elvis story. I am so impressed with Austin and so glad Baz did this movie. We saw elvis at the international hotel in 1971 not too long after he started appearing there. I wS so excited and he looked great. The movie is the best portrayal of elvis in history.

I saw the movie the other day. Austin was so good! I was skeptical but to me he came alive when he performed Trouble. He looked and sounded so much like Elvis in that performance! It gave me goose bumps! I hope he gets an Oscar nomination. The ending scene of the real Elvis singing made me cry.

Saw Elvis for the 2nd time today. It was more powerful than the first viewing. I think there will be more because I always find new elements in multiple viewings.
Watched this yesterday with my 13 year old daughter. We both had goosebumps and felt like we were witnessing the King of Rock n Roll himself. A stunning performance and representation of the man and icon. What struck me most is that I was almost 2 years old when Elvis died and his music and persona has transcended generation after generation. Austin Butler should win every single award for movies and music this year.

I see it has helped him getting tips from Rami Malek how to throw himself into the part of a music icon...His performance is right up there with Malek's Freddie Mercury and Val Kilmer's Jim Morrison.

I learned a lot about Elvis by watching this. I was born in 77, the same year he died, so, to me, growing up, I remember, as a kid, always seeing Elvis in the tabloids at the supermarket....'elvis's face in a piece of toast', etc. That kind of tabloid garbage. So I never took him seriously as an artist, because all I rememberd seeing of him as a kid was all this junk in the tabloids, and they always showed the later, heavy, Elvis, in tacky outfits and stuff in the tabloids.
But after seeing this amazing movie, I got curious about Elvis, and read and watched all kinds of stuff, and, wow, very impressed! Seems like a funny, humble, sweet, genuine person.

Vanessa H was dating him prior to the casting, of the film. Prior to even knowing about the film, she saw EP in him and told him they needed to make it happen. He HAD to get an Elvis role...and within a few weeks the word was out an Elvis film was in the works and the search for an EP was on! Denzel Washington may have made the introduction, but Vanessa saw it first.

I'm 42 and an African American growing up I would watch Elvis movies and was scolded because I was yold he was racist. I hidden that love for along time and took the chance to see the movie. Omg Austin did an amazing job and this really uncovered the truth of his character. Thank you for opening that love again and showing us his truth. Elvis didn't steal our music he introduced it to the world. Elvis was the breaking stone for humanity and the African American community. I know my people will go against my opinion but I truly believe every African American should see this movie it changes the whole native on who we were told who Elvis was.
Never heard a black person have a bad word for Elvis tbh. It seems to be white people who want to be offended on behalf of all black people.m without asking us how we feel. Personally, I don't feel he stole black music or moves, he grew up with gospel and blues, he sang what he knew and loved. He loved being around black people and black culture, he treated black people in his life as equals and with love and respect. There are plenty of interviews with black people who knew him that illustrate that he was a kind man, who treated them well, his black employees loved him and they felt he loved them too, he paid well, and didn't want to be called Boss, but brother.
He was white and had the opportunity to bring black music to white America and inspired a lot of white Americans to seek out black music and black artists they may never have otherwise been exposed to. Elvis never claimed credit for this music, he openly on states that rock and roll is really just an updated form of gospel music and rhythm and blues.
I still have to see this movie, but I will for sure. I think Elvis was channeling through Austin!

I saw it a second time today after two weeks. The first time I saw it, I was shocked at how much Austin looked and acted and danced like elvis. I decided to see it again and really pay attention to elvis story. I am so impressed with Austin and so glad Baz did this movie. We saw elvis at the international hotel in 1971 not too long after he started appearing there. I wS so excited and he looked great. The movie is the best portrayal of elvis in history.

I saw the movie the other day. Austin was so good! I was skeptical but to me he came alive when he performed Trouble. He looked and sounded so much like Elvis in that performance! It gave me goose bumps! I hope he gets an Oscar nomination. The ending scene of the real Elvis singing made me cry.

Saw Elvis for the 2nd time today. It was more powerful than the first viewing. I think there will be more because I always find new elements in multiple viewings.
Watched this yesterday with my 13 year old daughter. We both had goosebumps and felt like we were witnessing the King of Rock n Roll himself. A stunning performance and representation of the man and icon. What struck me most is that I was almost 2 years old when Elvis died and his music and persona has transcended generation after generation. Austin Butler should win every single award for movies and music this year.
