Austin Butler did something that is incredibly difficult... he won over Elvis fans. His performance portrayed who Elvis was as both performer and person with such respect, dignity, and integrity. The task was thought nearly impossible by Elvis fans until Austin Butler. He took this as a responsibility rather than a role and he deserves to be recognized for it. One of the best performances I've ever seen.

I was apprehensive when I heard they were making the move not just about the actor who would play Elvis but Tom Hanks playing I guy you're meant to hate. Both won me over and it's a travesty Austin doesn't have an Oscar today.
I have not actually taken an active interest in a "new" actor like this in basically my entire life. I became a genuine fan of Austin Butler as a result of the role in ELVIS, but the reason I hope he continues with all the success in the world is totally because of who HE is.
Austin has sooo many more awards to come because he is such a fabulous actor. He turned himself inside-out and gave everything he has to give back our precious Elvis to us, and he succeeded beyond any expectation WOW!

Sadly, people who say he doesn't deserve this have no clue how much work Austin had done and how much of his life he'd put in to portray such an iconic star as Elvis. I watched a lot of documentaries, interviews, behind the scenes and comparison videos since watching this film, and tbh, the effort he's put in to embody Elvis was another level. I loved both Brendan and Colin's performances this season but it's a tall order what Austin did, especially the artistry and respect both he and Baz had put into making the film. Better just ignore the haters, the majority who mattered (Presleys, critics and audience) have spoken. Well done, Austin!
I never thought in my lifetime that I would watch any one person do an Elvis movie & be so spot on about Elvis in the movie. No could could’ve done this job any better than Austin . Lisa Marie and her father Elvis are probably smiling the biggest smile from Heaven! Go Austin !!! So happy for Austin!💜💜

And they don't give it to people in their first lead role. Fraser was given repairation in the States but not abroad. The scene where Elvis is grieving the death of his beloved mother Gladys wasn't just acting. That was real. Because Austin's mother died too. He was the same age Elvis had been (23) when Gladys died.
Austin deserves to win every single award, the gift he gave us with his performance is far beyond greatness, he is so massively talented, he has such a beautiful powerful soul.

The other five contenders played extremely complicated fictional characters. But Butler went about the portraying of arguably the greatest single cultural icon of the 20th Century and these are not my words, but those of Christie's, Sotheby's, Phlllips' and every major art auction house in the world. Their business is to help define and then earmark the value of greatness, in terms of what constitutes an iconic figure, a person, a painting, etc., For Butler to have nailed such a tall order is commensurate with his winning this and every other trophy amongst those still outstanding for best actor this year. Fraser and Farrell were very generous on their reactions, and I am sure they are thinking about what the Oscar voters must be thinking themselves.

Gosh I am so emotionally invested- I cheered out loud when I saw Austin Butler won , it was the performance of a lifetime. I saw Colin Farrell in his role this week and I loved the movie, he was excellent but put it this way, I did not walk out of the theatre saying “ Give that boy an Oscar now. That was the most incredible acting performance I have ever seen.” like I did when I saw Elvis.

When he put his hand on his heart it made me smile that’s how you can tell when guys are truly being genuine. What I’ve noticed over the years when guys like austin who have a caring heart and put their hand right onto their chest grabbing it like they are holding their heart out of gratitude they are incredibly grateful for someone or something and feel moved
Proud that us Brits recognised this young man's incredible talent and his dedication to the role, where the Oscars didnt! He spent 3 years immersing himself in all things Elvis and not only did he have to act and sing, he had to learn how to walk and talk like Elvis. He pulled it all off magnificently. Great film and I am sure Elvis would definitely have approved!
His transformation into Elvis was incredible; he didn't as much play Elvis as resurrect him! It was eerie; reminded me of Rami Malek's Oscar winning performance in Bohemian Rhapsody. Much deserved, though I have to say Brendan Fraser also did an awesome job in The Whale.

Sometimes the good guys do win. Even despite the whirlwind year which has seen Austin rise to mega-stardom, he comes across as a very humble, nice man. Just like the real-life man, he brilliantly portrayed. I wish Austin well. Elvis and Lisa-Marie would be nodding in approval wherever they are now.

I love Elvis. And now I love Austin Butler. He was absolutely magical. I don't feel anyone could have done a better job or ever will, he was simply magnificent. I still can't quite believe that he didn't win the best actor Oscar, shame on The Academy Awards. Perhaps he was just TOO good. The other five contenders played extremely complicated fictional characters. But Butler went about the portraying of arguably the greatest single cultural icon of the 20th Century and these are not my words, but those of Christie's, Sotheby's, Phlllips' and every major art auction house in the world. Their business is to help define and then earmark the value of greatness, in terms of what constitutes an iconic figure, a person, a painting, etc., For Butler to have nailed such a tall order is commensurate with his winning this and every other trophy amongst those still outstanding for best actor this year. Fraser and Farrell were very generous on their reactions, and I am sure they are thinking about what the Oscar voters must be thinking themselves.

Gosh I am so emotionally invested- I cheered out loud when I saw Austin Butler won , it was the performance of a lifetime. I saw Colin Farrell in his role this week and I loved the movie, he was excellent but put it this way, I did not walk out of the theatre saying “ Give that boy an Oscar now. That was the most incredible acting performance I have ever seen.” like I did when I saw Elvis.

His transformation into Elvis was incredible; he didn't as much play Elvis as resurrect him! It was eerie; reminded me of Rami Malek's Oscar winning performance in Bohemian Rhapsody. Much deserved, though I have to say Brendan Fraser also did an awesome job in The Whale.
