Once you cut that bracket off the OEM leaf pack there’s really no reverting back is there? I have a Bilstein 5100 set up for my 23 Tacoma with the Icon 1.5” AAL. Had it for a month while I saved up for the install and then I unintentionally went down a rabbit hole about vibrations post lift. The fact that I’d potentially be having to replace this needle bearing or frig with CB shims and/or axle shims on my brand new truck has kind of turned me off. I do carry some weight in the truck with my bed rack and RRT 4-5 months of the year so the AAL makes more sense but I’m afraid that if I get these vibrations and want to revert back I won’t be able to so maybe the 1” block is the way to go
Why didn't you put the lift block back in? I'm just doing an "add a leaf" but I was curious. It seems like you put on an add a leaf to add 1.5 inches but then took out the over load spring and the 1 inch block, essentially taking away 1.5 inches at the same time. ??? Just curious, I may have missed something. I'm not in to the off-roading thing, I just carry a lot of tools and hate a saggy rear. LOL
Thanks for the video. Are you going to extend those rear brake lines or are you confident they are long enough for travel and have good clearance for road obstacles?
If I already have a 250 pound Snugtop shell on my Tacoma, will the Icon add-a-leaf still give me 1.5 inches lift? Also, what is the factory rake on the TRD Offroad? I want to level my truck.
Level would be adding 2 inches in the front but with your canopy I'd probably lean toward an inch in the front to get it level. My guess is that you'll need more than the icon add a leaf to get 1.5 inches.
Hey man i have. 2015 tacoma and i bought the same add a leaf as you but in the instructions it doesnt say anything about cutting that rear bracket and it doesnt seem to be in the way . Does that change the height at all ? I do have it in the correct way with the longer part to the rear . Thanx
@@thebigboss024 i just removed the bracket for the brake line and left it loose it doesn’t affect anything and the leaf springs i left them with the long part to the rear
Twonz you do great work. I have almost the identical problem I do have the old man emu dakar heavy duty leaf springs they are now bent the wrong way because I haul a KTM 690 enduro on an MX hauler (350lbs on the hitch) I carry about 1500 lbs total with the bike on the back. Would you recommend that I put in the Deaver stage 3 leaf springs along with a locked off road bump stop or maybe a sumo bump stop or should I put in the airbags? I worry about articulation ripping the airbags when off-road not hauling the bike.
Daystar airbag cradles give you full articulation. I’ve got them on my tundra and I can still get full flex off road and when I’m towing or hauling (I’ve got the same bike 🤙🏼) I just pump up the bags and I’m good to go.
Whats your review on the icon add a leaf? Did it make axle wrap any worse? Did it make it seem too stiff or a bumpy ride? Was it hardly noticeable? Any info is aplreciated. Trying to decide which add a leaf to get.kind of leaning towards archive garages
Mike C Thanks Mike went ahead and snagged the rear shocks as well. Nervous about my diy lift but thanks to videos like this I’m becoming more confident by the minute. Thanks
If I’m adding the adjustable Bilstein 5100s to the front with Eibach 2” coils. What settings should I leave the adjustable ring? I’ve heard to leave it on the lowest to let the coil do the lifting but can I go beyond that safely?
What happens if you don't use the c-clamp an you loosen the not on top of the springs? Why do you clamp the springs? Isn't there a block with a slight wedge that keeps the driveshaft more aligned that you can add where your old block is?
Great video! I can't believe Icon provided a regular garden hose clamp to the reservoir I mean it works but for 3k I'd want something more proper. Imho

Great job, there is a lot of personal satisfaction doing stuff like that yourself, not paying someone else to do it !
Agreed. I was a bit nervous taking the project on but have no regrets doing it myself!
Quick tip, I inserted a punch (screwdriver is ok) through the holes from the top just to keep things aligned.

Great question. Wish you got an answer
Waiting for answer as well 😂
How'd you remove that stock clip on the leaf spring, cutoff wheel on your grinder?
Great video. Just wondering if you did diff drop and carrier bearing drop kit aswell
After removing the brake line bracket do you have any rubbing against the leaf pack. I have a slight rub. Not sure how to negate that
Add a little extension for the E brake cable like the factory lift kit comes with so it stays secure.
Did you have to take the overload spring out or could you keep that as well if you wanted to?
Yes you could keep that
How were you able to get the center pin to line up with the axel? I’m having the hardest time with that
Thanks for the video. Are you going to extend those rear brake lines or are you confident they are long enough for travel and have good clearance for road obstacles?
I think they are good. I had them fully extended during install without issue so in driving it shouldn't be any different.

Have you experienced any squeaking from your new leaf springs?
No issues yet
I don't have this kit - watched for the add a leaf. But are you telling me that you had to cut the shock mount so the logo could face outward?
No, I had to cut it to fit the external reservoir
Awesome video. How does she ride after install
Definitely stiffer than before. It will be interesting to see how that translates offroad - I've only done a little mild off-roading so far.
@@DrivenCompanion I've noticed that with speed it always drives smoother. And also with a bit of weight. Sometimes even just a full gas tank.
Do you not need the axle shims? I currently have a 1”block and an axle shim. I’m doing a 3 leaf pack but thought I needed to keep the axle shim.
Hey what size is that u-bolts.! I’m trying to install 1-1/2” springs on my truck .!

hello currently have a 6 inch rough country with an add a leaf. will my rough country shock be long enough?

I'd go with something else. The finish quality is bad with the powder coating and the install is more complicated that other add-a-leafs.
Can you add a wulf 2” add a leaf without upgrading the rear shocks? 2019 Trd off-road
I don't believe so. I'd add a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks - won't cost much more and it will improve ride quality.
Mike C Thanks Mike went ahead and snagged the rear shocks as well. Nervous about my diy lift but thanks to videos like this I’m becoming more confident by the minute. Thanks

You left out the over load right? Have you noticed any decrease in payload or sagging with a load?
Yes left it out. Havent had it loaded too heavy since the lift but I'm told with the add a leaf the overload would never serve a purpose.
Hi mike question.! How long and thick is the u-bolts
do you have any vibrations at 25-30 mph on the driveshaft, or do you have different degree shims installed?
I had vibration issue when I first did the lift - turned out to need a new needle bearing and that corrected it
Mike C thank you, i appreciate, good video too
You didn’t show when you cut off the bracket and took off the rivet that connects the leafs…
Thank you for the promo code! Saved me $310 on my stage 4 kit.
Glad to help!
Bummer code no good anymore
Wow, you simple added the new unit (Add a Leaf ) for MAX strength???
RR
For this kit, do you have to replace shocks with extended ones or you can use factory length shocks?
I think you could get away with up to about 2 inches keeping factory shocks but I wouldn't go any taller than that.
What happens if you don't use the c-clamp an you loosen the not on top of the springs? Why do you clamp the springs?
Isn't there a block with a slight wedge that keeps the driveshaft more aligned that you can add where your old block is?
Are you ever going to do a collab with your brother?
Excellent work. Thank you.

What’s your day job Mike? You seem very thorough!
Construction project management but my degree is in engineering. I guess being thorough can be expected from an engineer!
You forgot the overload spring. You don’t use the overload spring?
Probably not all that cold but I hope you have a heated garage....nothing worse than racking your knuckles when the fingers are cold!
Unfortunately its not heated and was quite cold out during the install!
Dude no measurement reveal come on!!!
