  • Miyazaki Isamu was a Japanese fighter pilot who flew A6M Zeros and N1K Shiden-Kais during WWII. This footage was recorded in 2011 at his home near Osaka.
    Sadly, Isamu passed away in 2012, making this the only footage of him discussing his experiences in WWII.
    Miyazaki mentions a pilot named Kashimura near the end of the interview. Here's a link showing what he became famous for.

    Isamu Miyazaki was one of the great aces of Imperila Navy.
    His mentor was Kannichi Kashimura, who was very famous for his dog fighting.

    It is refreshing to hear from a pilot which fought against the allies, I mean . . . I'm kinda fed up looking at the war on their perspective. So thanks for putting up so much effort for this. A piece of history as told from the eyes of a man who fought for the Empire of Japan.
    Btw, kinda ironic but I'm a Filipino. :D

      True, don't forget that the Americans killed 200,000 or more Filipino civilians in the Philippine American War of 1899.
      They're not the "good guys" as they proclaim to be.

    F4U corsairs were the F22s of that era (before Germany entered the jet age) fighting against an aging zero and yet this guy lived to tell the tale. I guess no American F4U corsair pilots were good enough to shoot this guy down.

    A good pilot can fight a superior enemy plane and win. It´s about the pilots mostly who wins instead of good planes. Of course a good plane makes it easier, but a good pilot is much better.

    My greatest respect for this old warrior who fought against an enemy that surpassed him technologically and numerically, only Japanese super pilots like him could survive so many dangers of war.

      Oh, really? So what about German-Soviet theater?

    • @IJN_Guy
      @IJN_Guy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@username_2667 Russian and German planes were greatly armored and technologically sound compared to the Type 00 fighter. IJN planes (IJA planes were much better in most aspects, some even having armor around interesting areas like the radiator, which was very uncommon for this era) were infamously known for being vulnerable and having critical design flaws at higher speeds with model 52s and older. Hencewhy, it was only the best of the best Japanese naval aviators that survived the war. German and Russian planes, while having their own design flaws (e.g., German Me-109 "G" models having oil and overheating problems), had much more going for them.
      Also, what does the European Theater have to do with this comment? We are talking about the Pacific Theater - a whole different type of war.

      Besides the obvious advantages of using energy tactics, it's important to remember the IJN faced a lot of Biplanes in China which could turn tighter and in less time than any naval monoplane.
