Wow, the way it was pre-tacking, I never expected you to remove the hair with messing up the adhesive. Hope you ran out and picked up a Lottery ticket.

Great video once again. What is your policy with fresh paint? We did a job not too long ago and when we went to lift the film(it was on for about an hour due to some dirt) the paint came with it. Do you have a policy or help with it comes to this? What questions do you ask the customer about fresh paint?
Great question. Pulling paint up gives me the same feeling as when a Highway Patrol officer (that I didn't know was behind me) hits me in the back of the head with his spotlight to pull me over. It sucks! We always let the customer know that we are not responsible if the paint comes up with the PPF. It just means the body shop didn't prep it well enough or didn't get good enough adhesion between the primer and paint (or bumper and paint). We have no control over that part. I tell that if the paint comes up I will give them there keys back and have them head back to the body shop ( I say it nicer than that). We also make sure that the customer calls the body shop and asks how long they want the paint to dry before PPF is applied. We go off the body shops advice because if there is a problem, I'm not going to pay for a repaint. Three times, that I remember, I did pull paint off from a factory paint job. It was only on smaller bumper parts (not a full bumper) and I did pay to have those parts repainted. It was cheap and nobody wants their brand new car back with some paint missing. If you are going to pull the PPF back up after it has been drying for a bit, it's best to use hot water or steam in the area. That will give you the lowest possibility of pulling the paint up.
out of that group I'd use Xpel or STek. There are a lot of good brands out there that have a great product. I'm not a huge fan of Xpel but I know that a lot of people really like it. We use Premium Shield and SunTek. But SolarGard and Llumar make good products as well. The trick is finding a product that you learn to use very well and sticking with it. I hate switching film or testing new films. You burn up a lot of time figuring out you slip mixture and how to work with the material. 👍😀
I run pretty tacky on my slip solution. By going backwards, I push the slip solution through all of the air pockets under the PPF. This reintroduces a lot of slip to those areas and helps ensure that I don't get any pretacking. The adhisive in the air pockets can start to dry and get really tacky. I hope that answers your question well enough. 😁👍🏻
Have you tried water instead of tack solution? Or do a swipe and hold. A lot of pressure in one spot from the tip of the squeegee for 5-10 seconds really gets ppf sticking in that spot.
Those stretches do like to pop up. I'll make a video on how I keep those down. I just installed carbon fiber PPF on a Porsche hood. I had to cram the ppf around the foglight with my squeegee tucked in there and leave it. It really didn't want to stay down!

So True. It's a nightmare. Pulling it back is a hell Mary! My plan is to throw it away if I can't get the debris out cleanly. It's always worth a shot but I never really expect it to work. So, I'm a happy camper when it does! :)
@@EncorePPFtint I've used Suntek for about 8 years, then Xpel for several years, tried alot of other brands, now using a Stek, some Xpel and Suntek. Xpel is the worst for debris management. You don't have much time to lift film in situations like you ran into. Suntek and Stek are way more forgiving and leave much less aggressive lift lines. Suntek does have higher tack films but I am not a fan of them, I use the plain old 5yr film they make.
Some installs are like this. Especially when you are testing a new film. This 10w30 idea, though... Hmm, it'll be a slip and slide out here. Can you imagine the floor! 🤣😂
That's the truth! Sometimes I wonder how I didn't notice the damn thing while I was squeegeeing out the slip solution. Pulling the PPF back up is always a bit of a craps shoot. But it's worth a try!
It seemed ok. I think I needed to make an adjustment to my slip solution. This is pretty normal when you run as tacky as I do, and you are testing a new material. I use minimal soap.
Who makes the ultimate plus. Maybe more soap in my slip would have fixed my issue. Also, this installation was over fresh paint. Fresh paint can be soooo much more tacky than a factory painted vehicle.

Curious as to why you worked against gravity on this one?

I always have trouble tacking the front two corners when stretching the hood on alot of cars. Seems like the stretch pulls the film back

getting a spec in the middle of the hood or other big panel like a quarter panel is one of my biggest phobias. sucks every time it happens

You couldn't get more pretacking using a sheet of Scotch tape. What a nightmare. Might have to use some straight 10w30 for your slip next time.

Seem's like you spent more time woried about pre tac. Ultimate plus you would have been done.
Who makes the ultimate plus. Maybe more soap in my slip would have fixed my issue. Also, this installation was over fresh paint. Fresh paint can be soooo much more tacky than a factory painted vehicle.
