● Follow Pegorino's goons they'll lead you to Pegorino.
● Pegorino is inside the old casino. Find him.

● Get low and stay close to Pegorino.

GTA IV is one of the darkest GTA games, there is no happy ending for Niko at the end. Only misery
***** true, yeah i feel bad for johnny the most because his best friend (billy) went insane and tried to put him in prison, his other best friend (jim) was killed by niko, his entire mc was fucled by a civil war, his druggie ex went into rehab and quit after only like a couple of days and he only has 3 people left in his life. And yeah luis got lucky that everyone that was against him got killed. I really liked the whole tony and luis keeping the clubs as "family business". I thought ,because the other games were so miserable and depressing, that in the end tony would have been killed by anceloti's goons and luis wouls show up at the monoglobe and find tony dead

This ending was heartbreaking, but what really gets me is the call from Packie. You never really see him sad in any other point in the game.
What got me bad was the call with Roman, Nico blaming himself was really painful.
Kate is a shithole. I choosed both deal and revenge to see what happens. Kate dumps Niko.
If you get trashed with him enough eventually you’ll hear him cry on the drunk drive home

There's also a line in one of the hangouts with niko and packie where he talks about how his dad would molest him and gerry when they were kids. During the conversation it almost sounds like Packie is abou to break down

It's my fault because I got close to her. I shouldn't get close to anyone.
Roman: You should, Niko. Stay close to Mallorie and me, we are your family.
Mallorie is pregnant. If it's a girl, we'll call it Kate.
Niko: Congratulations, Roman. You'll make a good father, see you soon.

Good memories of this game.. I was 24 when this game came out.. Now I am 32 and I have heart aneurysm problem.. Life is shit.. But this comment will stay here even if I die.. ☺️

It's very interesting how Roman gets more and more mature to the end of the game. At the beginning we see him as a wretched, cowardy creature. Even his girlfriend at first doesn't appreciate him as a man, it seems to me, as she lets Vlad close to her. Niko has to protect him in a lot of situations, from a lot of people. But as the plot goes further, Roman becomes a real man. He even goes on a few missions with Niko, even though it could be dangerous (for example, he joins Niko when he finally goes to face Darko Brevic). He finally makes up his mind to propose to Mallorie. Of course, he's still a bit of a coward at the end (afraid to be speeding down the highway) but it was his own wish, a strong desire, to join his cousin on his final mission. He's even not afraid to get into a chopper and get out midair to give his cousin a helping hand. Admit it, guys, that'd take a great deal of courage.
Roman shows how some people, like Strauss of RDR2, are brave in ways most people don't see.
to be fair, he was scared of not seeing his wife, but regardless he gies to help Niko, and that's respect

my first time playing through GTA 5 i misunderstood and thought that Deathwish meant that Franklin would die, so i decided to kill Trevor and when i found out that it didnt have to happen i replayed through the entirety of the story mode (not thinking to use save files because im pretty dumb) just to save them all

Kate is by far the best female character in the GTA series. A woman with many past traumas due to her family's history of violence. She and Niko make a perfect couple, both are people traumatized by their past and are unhappy. Niko hoped that Kate could finally be the love he was looking for, because that is what he wanted, to be loved, after his disappointment with Michelle, Niko hoped things would be different. Kate hoped that Niko could get out of the life of crime, so that she could finally have the hope to be happy and have a family with someone. She thought that Niko might finally be the person who could get her out of her life of misery. Well, at the end of the game, her life of misery comes to an end because of Niko's decisions and life of crime, but as we all know, in a tragic way. Tragic for Kate, for Niko, and for Packie. Rest in peace sweet and innocent Kate.

Its really cool how jacob helps niko in every aspect. That really make him my favorite character. Jacob is the man you can really rely on.

14:25 pause. This is the CANON point of gta 4's storyline and is look in the back you can see smoke from the explosion on TBOGT's ending (departure time). Kate and I think Francis died in gta 4 Canon wise. Derek is mentioned to die in gta 5 of an OD when you recruit packie, where as if you pick deal ending you won't see this, from this angle of happiness island I looked back and you can see Hove beach (where the plane exploded in TBOGT'S) pov. This ending is the legit one

No in one mission Pegorino mentioned that his father founded the crime family in Alderny, which means that Jimmy was most likely born in America.
Vlad wins a medal for calling Niko a yokel and shit
This is the ending for me, not because it's less painful, but it just seems like a more fitting and optimistic ending since Roman keeps him company and tells him he can still be close to people. The deal ending doesn't even feel like niko won and it felt like a cliffhanger.
Deal is the epitome of, "I've won, but at what cost"
I feel like Niko just wouldn't trust Dimitri again. While Deal does have a darker atmosphere which fits the game more, it kinda makes Niko incompetent, because Dimitri betrayed everyone who he'd crossed. He'd murdered his best friend, had targeted Roman with a kidnapping, and threatened Niko throughout the course of the game through phone calls, taunting him constantly about what would happen to him eventually. Niko imo wouldn't take that risk so he would choose Revenge. I even chose Revenge when I first played the game without knowing what it entailed and learned that Roman died in the other ending much later. He may not like himself for killing Dimitri but would view it as a necessity. Deal doesn't make sense.
The achievement for finishing GTA IV is also called 'You Won!', which fits the revenge ending more than deal does. Even Roman says 'we won' in the revenge ending
I love how this happy ending is on a nice sunny day while the tragic deal ending was on a horrible rainy day.
This ending is not happy. Both the revenge and deal endings are sad. Deal is just 10x sadder

Pretty much like what happened if Niko kills Darko. He finally gets his revenge there. But besides being satisfied that Darko’s gone, he felt like he didn’t gain anything from it either.

This is the best ending as it keeps both Roman and Niko alive. Rest in Peace Kate.
For those of you who thought that Roman did not really help Niko during this mission, that is true. However, he was just there for Niko to comfort him over the murder of Kate. At least he is still a loyal family member.
That true, man. Roman was very loyal and trusting of Niko, even after all of the chaos that Niko indirectly caused. He really liked Niko. The most closest of all Niko's friends, which is why he, out of all of them, came with Jacob to help Niko end Jimmy Pegorino's reign.
Rowan did a lot for Niko in the begining of the game. He gave him a house, work, and a girlfriend that at least stand for a while.

GTA 4 has some really great characters, Roman and Little Jacob are really outstanding! at first i was really annoyed with Roman, he was obnoxious, his gambling and everything but he was really supportive and a good person. And Jacob was great, he got Niko's back all the way. GTA 4 i think doesnt get the credit it deserves, it is such a great game.

When you choose the Deal ending
The atmosphere in Happiness Island is raining and the camera aims at the back of the statue
When you choose the Revenge ending
The atmosphere is as clear as day and the camera aims at the front of the statue
Deal is when you choose money over family and loyalty
Revenge is when you choose family and loyalty over money
I always choose Revenge cause blood is thicker then water.
5 reasons why you should choose the Revenge Ending:
1 - You get $250k
2 - You get to kill both Pegorino and Dimitri
3 - It's easier
4 - You actually get to shoot Dimitri instead of watching him bleed out
And most of all...
5 - *ROMAN LIVES!*
Now Kate may die, but it's okay because you can replace her with another Girlfriend, plus you won't get dumped.
You don't get 25k, you get 250k
Also, if you choose the deal ending, you get 500k
but overall, the revenge ending is way better, yes

GTA 4 is still great because it has a story that doesn't glamorize crime, Niko giving the speech about seeing children with their hands chopped off had such a big impact on me and really made me question if I would ever go through with revenge. You can tell when you go back to playing 4 that Niko's story was more thought out while in GTA 5 I didn't really care about the characters at all lol.

Yeah, I agree, the V was nothing like other GTA games in that sense. Sure, this one was a little bit too dramatic and had it's own flaws, the ending felt incomplete and somewhat anticlimactic, but the 5th one barely even felt like a GTA game and the story was a big part of it. To get away with all those ridiculous heists, profit crazy, and then to top it all off with a perfect threeway circlejerk, where everybody gets to live and be fucking greatest friends ever after or whatever (because, let's be honest, most people probably chose that one, there weren't any real antagonists or personal reasons to kill either Michael or Trevor). Yeah, it wasn't all that pretty, Franklin didn't get his girl back, but at least he could have lost Lamar or put in a very tough spot, like any of them should have. Michael's problems were a joke and his therapist was made into a complete clown, and Trevor's issues and his more sensitive stuff, that you get a feel of in missions like with his mother after the end, weren't developed to it's potential. So the thing with GTA 5 for Rockstar was to compromise anything in order to create the story with most action, spectacle and of the biggest scale, however ridiculous it had to be, and in the meantime still trying really hard for people to like it and no to feel that way about company's choices. It wasn't bad writing exactly, the characters were nice and could have made for a very interesting, deep story; it's just that the focus on profit with this game, and especially the online part, was so painfully obvious, it makes it really ironic with the whole social commentary on America and mass culture thing inside the game.
This turned out to be quite long, sorry if it felt like a rant.

Честно говоря эта концовка по сравнению с концовкой где мы едем на сделку, выглядит довольно позитивно. В этой концовке описывается что все враги побеждены и мы выиграли, однако мы потеряли Кейт. Однако Роман не даёт сильно расстраиваться Нико, говоря что мы твоя настоящая семья и всегда будем рядом с тобой, что концовку делает не такой уж печальной, показывая что очень жаль что мы потеряли Кейт но лучшее все еще будет впереди. К тому же в этой концовке Нико даже успевает пошутить и посмеяться над Пегорино.
Да, может концовка не совсем счастливая, но в ней есть надежда, чего точно не скажешь про сделку. Там и Роман мёртв, и Кейт ещё расстанется с Нико, так что мы просто потеряем обоих. Плюс, Нико по прежнему нелегальный иммигрант, так что я не знаю какую работу он без Романа будет искать, скорее всего вернётся в свою страну, потому что, по сути, ему здесь ловить нечего.
Ещë это просто не в характере Нико пойти на сделку с предательским куском говна, который всю игру только и делал, что усложнял жизнь ему и Роману, и пытался всё время убить. Даже если смотреть с такой точки зрения, что Нико идет на сделку только потому что Роман сказал, что деньги нужны, тоже не особо канает. Мы не раз за игру наблюдаем, какой погубной порой может быть его жажда к деньгам (особенно когда его похитили), и так как Нико знает его лучше, чем кто-либо ещë, он понимает, что Роман далеко не всегда принимает лучшие решения (хотя к концу игры он точно лучше, можно сказать, становится настоящим мужиком). Поэтому логично, что выслушав его предложение, Нико подумал целых 2 секунды, и решил: "Нет, братишка, после всего, через что тот петушок нас заставил пройти, я не стану ни при каких условиях работать с ним снова. А вот использовать эту возможность, чтобы ему пасть заткнуть раз и навсегда, чтобы мы с тобой жили спокойно..."
К тому же Кейт даже если и умрёт в мести, она с Нико до самого конца. Нико, выслушав еë и убив Дмитрия, не противоречит своим ценностям, поэтому в данном сценарии Кейт по-настоящему уважает и любит Нико бескомпромиссно.
Исход всё равно грустный, но с Нико остаются его настоящая семья и близкие люди, поэтому со временем всë наладится.
Fun fact: People theorize that this is the real ending of GTA IV as in 14:08 you can see smoke falling from the sky which is a reference to the TBoGT ending in which Luis blows up a plane mid air.
Also in GTA V you can see Niko’s Life-invader page (which didn’t exist when GTA IV takes place) and shows that he’s friends with Roman.

I was about to cry when Packie knew about his sister. The dark atmosphere, the underworld, everything in this game is perfect. The music at the end was so deep that I felt empathy for the first time in my life. Niko Bellic, was, is and will always be the best GTA character. ❤

Yeah, I much prefer this ending. Kate's death is tragic, but not depressing. There's a difference here. The ending with Roman dying hits a little too heavy for a conclusion I'd be comfortable to rest on - the bond he and Niko share is brotherly and spans their lifetimes. The romance kindling between Kate and Niko is sweet, but also much more recent. Alongside Roman, Kate seemed to push Niko towards a better life and lit a spark for him that maybe gives a touch of hope for the future. It's heartwrenching to see Niko lose someone he opened up to, but nowhere near as devastating as losing Roman.
Spent days completing this mission, but as soon as you do the feeling is for the better.
Little Jacob is the coolest side character...absolute legend !
The way Niko reacts to Roman being like 'we won, man!' and the fact jacob started to walk away without saying anything too, and then the camera panning up to the statue of happiness. It's a good lesson, all without too many words. There is no winning, not in a ruthless system that bleeds only money and disregards the fallen innocent. In America, You don't win. you survive, and try to live. And we don't benefit or win from killing other people on the bottom. We just lose one more obstacle in a big race that never ends, and so nobody wins.

I feel like this is the canon ending. Mostly because niko would kill dimitri the second he could for almost killing him and his cousin so many times in the story. Also screw Katie, dumps poor niko after his cousin and closest family he has left is killed.
Edit: also I replaying the game Dimitri also calls you and taunts you from burner phones after his betrayal.

It's hard to know really, both make sense in a way, remember Darko and how Niko didn't feel satisfied with his revenge? That could've motivated him to forget his differences with Dimitri, and (Maybe stupidly) trust him to make the deal, apart from the fact that Roman insisted him to do it. But at the same time, he also could've just killed as a preventive move, because he could've suspected that Dimitri was gonna set him up like he previously did.

I feel as if gta 4 constantly tests the player about greed. Every time the game tries to entice you with money, you get a harder mission/u feel bad. However this mission was the final test of your greed and rewards you with the same amount of money you would have gotten if you picked to do the deal.
half of it actually, you only get 250k if you choose Revenge, and 500k if you choose deal. either way money is useless in GTA IV, you only use it for taxi, buy food, and buy weapons, there's no point getting a lot of money except if you want the half million archievment.

Very true, especially with the Holland Play Mission where you have to choose between Dwayne and Playboy. Do you listen to Playboy and kill Dwayne for a measly 25k which is very pointless because you will do a mission where you get 250k, and Playboy betrays you, or do you decide to take a big risk and kill Playboy who forces you to do dirty work for him.
Killing Playboy is challenging, because you have to kill his bodyguards and then chase him down the streets, you don't get any money but the rewards are much higher, you get his penthouse, a special outfit, and Dwayne, becomes a good friend and ally to you, and plus Dwayne's special ability is very useful for certain side missions, especially for the Little Jacob and Badman drug missions and the Vigilante Missions.
Damn symbolism though-
The camera pans up to the “Statue of Happiness”, the truth is Niko’s story has no happiness. Niko will always have a sad story. But deadass, I hope GTA 6 has the substance and story of GTA IV and the graphics to top GTA V. Best combo in my opinion.

Rockstar have confirmed that GTA 4 ending is still up to the player's choice and haven't canonise either ending. Below here is from Rockstar's Q&A session:

A: That’s a very interesting question. The choices that you make in Grand Theft Auto IV while in the shoes of Niko Bellic are completely down to personal preference. if you didnt notice, dialogue is different depending on the choice you make, you choose revenge niko mocks the killing and says things like “how many more of these lowlifes do i have to kill” if you choose to spare he says “why do i have to keep killing?”
