    I personally am loving the new TEST/DRIVE segments, gives me a new drive video to watch everyday on top of the weekly segments they already provide
    Plus I love Matt Farah

    Is that it? Matt I'm not looking to buy the car, I just want to dream a little. Tell me what the thing's like to drive, how does the engine feel, what's the performance like, how does it take corners. Does it feel like a Porsche? What's it like at speed? Dude where's the rest of the review!

      Agree, Ch.Harris. should have done this review!!! instead of the frikkin chevy.

      i agree but first it´s a diesel, and then it´s a boring suv.

      Revitalizing this question. I recently bought one. It's amazing in all ways. I haven't timed it, but with a tune I'm pretty sure it gets to 60 as fast as my mk5 VW R32, it's quiet, steering is very precise, super easy to drive, handling is great, suspension stiffness is a perfect balance between comfort and sporty. At speed... It will cruise at over 100 mph and you'll feel like you are going 60.
      It feels like a Porsche.
      It's the best vehicle in its category that I've ever driven in my life, and I can't think what I'd rather have.

      The video is as always very well produced but it's just too short. I would have quite happily watched another 3 or 4 minutes.

    • @YasumotoUS
      @YasumotoUS 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well-stated. I was thinking of "shallow" or "lacking depth." As Banana Fish states above, the quality of these videos is very good from a production standpoint, but the substantive content is lacking (my words).
      What about the vehicle's suspension feel? What about the control layout? What about any other element which makes the Cayenne unique from the Audi and Volkswagen offerings?
      Additionally, the comparisons with the BMW and Merc vehicles muddied up the review. Is this a comparison of the Porsche with its siblings, offerings from other vendor or a driver's first impression?
      I have come to love the /DRIVE related videos over the past few months, but this particular review left me wanting.

    Hello Drive people. Can you please stop scoring these reviews? The scores are meaningless and gives me as a viewer no clue about the car. It's actually more confusing after hearing the actual review (Matt talking about the car). Otherwise I love your content, thank you!

    • @powersurge001
      @powersurge001 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I really like the scoring. Just pause the video and take a minute to analyse it.

    • @TheBrokenEclipse
      @TheBrokenEclipse 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Your issue will most likely resolve itself as more videos are released; They are a basic point system that really has no relevance what so ever if you see them by themselves - however if you have, say, 10 different score-boards they produce an easy and valuable (if not subjective) comparison of the different cars.
      Of course there is the thing of different segments, but for that you have to do a little brain-thinking yourself - nothing is perfect.

    • @Aerosecurity
      @Aerosecurity 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was actually just about to post a similar comment. I really like the style of this review; Short, simple, subjective look at actual road cars that we would normally drive. However, I don't like seeing numbers in reviews. It adds nothing to the review I just spent 5 min watching. Numbers assumes that you have the authority to make such claims, with research to back it up, and that takes time. Personally, for this style of review, I think quantity is better than quality (in terms of amount of in-depth content, not production quality). And leave the more in-depth content for shows like AFTER/DRIVE or another series.
      Alternatively, if I want to see more in-depth coverage of a particular car, with reviewers having done months of research, testing, comparing, interviews, etc., I'll go to a car magazine, or other in-depth source for that information. You are to cars, as Popular Science is to actual scientific publications.
      Anyway, great video and keep them coming ;)

    I've had a Cayenne Diesel for 6 months now, I think this review really overlooked the sheer beauty of such a well balanced car. The performance and engineering of a Porsche, combined with the utility and space of a truck, and finally (perhaps most impressively) incredible range and efficiency particularly on long trips. This is the vehicle you would want in a zombie apocalypse. My two cars prior to this were V8s (Mercedes ML550, BMW 545i), I initially was looking at the Cayenne S but was somewhat underwhelmed by the performance as the ML550 would quite dramatically throw you back in your seat when you put the hammer down from a standstill. I decided to give the diesel a try and was blown away. The best way to describe the performance is zippy. It's quick around town (extra zippy in sport mode), passing other cars, etc.. the only thing you don't get is the seat slamming off the line acceleration I had on my ML550, but how often did I really do that anyway. The ML550 cost $150 to fill up and would get about 450km out of a tank, the Cayenne costs about $130 to fill and gets anywhere from 850-1200kms from a tank (I live in Toronto, Canada). It really is an incredible all around car, I can't really imagine anything else on the market that really compares to the complete package that is the Porsche Cayenne Diesel.

      Chris O Plenty of trucks that couldn't match that? When 1930? Seriously? You driving a 1/4 ton mini truck like a Dodge Dakota? Otherwise I call bs. Don't get me wrong, I love the Porsche Cayenne (especially the diesel), but come on guys.. If you want a truck and ACTUALLY intend to use it as a truck anything less an a 3/4 is a waste of your time and money. Seriously, how many Cayenne owners will tow and off-road with it regularly? Soccer moms all hyped up on Ice Road Truckers?

    I have a Volkswagen Touareg Executive with the Diesel engine. It's absolutely incredibly I get 32 mpg on the highway with a surprisingly large amount of comfort and luxury. I would not get a Cayenne diesel after my Touareg if it was even the same price. I have drove both, and the Cayenne just felt like it was lacking something. The Touareg honestly looks better in my view anyways.

    JF, what are you doing? What public are you trying to reach with this format? You guys were able to open a great niche in automotive reviews doing cool things throughout different car cultures. That's the DRIVE trademark, its equity. Sure...you can review 'common' cars. But not with this" Top Gear 80's format". Giving scores on categories? Come on! When we tune into DRIVE we expect a certain formula that's just not present here. What next? Have Chris Harris see if a water bottle can fit in the glove box? Keep up the good work guys. Don't wonder in this direction.....

    The Cayenne offers off-road capability that none of the competition offer here in the States. In the rest of the world you can get them with off-road equipment, but not here, here you'd need a Range Rover to compete off-road and then LR don't offer the RR in a diesel here. If you never set foot on anything other than a dirt road at worst, then maybe an X5 would do, but I like to hit the mountains now and then to camp out and want to know I can probably get out if a storm blows in. Also, you can load the Cayenne diesel up with lots of luxury beyond the competition and I can tell you personally that the MSRP can climb over $115K, but for that you aren't compromising.

    • @patfromozZ
      @patfromozZ 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure if its available in the States but there is a Cayenne V8 diesel available in other countries. So loading a V6 diesel up to 115k would be madness.....far better off with a V8 diesel with less options IMO :)

    I think all sports car brands will be bringing in more diesels & hybrids. I think (i'm not 100% sure) they need to meet average emissions/carbon footprint quotas that have been implemented. So if you make only sports cars then your gonna have to do something to meet those requirements. Also 4x4's and SUV's seem to sell very well and so give the companies some money to play with when it comes to their sports cars!

    Cayenne has certain options not available on Touareg i.e. ventilated seats. Cayenne diesel engine is not exactly the same as VW/Audi versions - Porsche has reworked and improved certain parts. X5 uses runflats. Arguably, non of the competition handles as well as Cayenne.

    the cayenne is one of those cars that you just buy for the name.
    the only one i might consider is a base V6 model, but any other trim level and it is just too expensive for something that i would use to commute. the Turbo S is a nice performance SUV but at $145,000 its something that i would keep at home every day.

    Why is there no overall score, like in the both newer reviews?

    My dad's got a v6 hybrid vw touareg, I love it, it's a very nice car, it's very fast and comfortable. With that in mind, I don't know why anyone would want the cayenne over the vw because it's just more expensive, and uglier and probably worse in some cases. Sorry, but I don't see the point.

      It's probably the same... maybe in cayenne you can have some more extras like better audio or more customization... maybe the steering feels differently... but i don't know if it's worth paying for that things this difference in price. Everyone has to choose ; )

      There's still subtle differences between the two. Such as interior material used. Also, I prefer the look of the cayenne over the touareg. However, I do understand your p.o.v and agree that the vw is a more level headed purchase.

      David Shmavid well that depends on what porsche, I think that's the mindset for most cayenne drivers, and certainly that's what's true of many people who buy a new 911, but the customer base has a division of enthusiasts too, especially when it comes to old 911s. It's an interesting market, because there are some who love porsche, and some who are just cocks. We have a 996 in the family as well, which is nice, I like it, but it's a little annoying to see that the same car is also being driven by every half-successful estate agent and bank teller in the world.

      Narciso Oliveira believe me, the feel of an electric motor on top of a v6 pulls a lot of power, but it's the power delivery that's most impressive. The specs are decent, but they don't do justice to what a powerful hybrid feels like in a straight line.

    Unfortunately Matt does not do these very well, and there are far better online reviews for normal cars out there. I think Drive should stick to what it was doing before. Anyway, now that I've seen two of these, time to never click on a Review again and just patiently wait for the Chris Harris series to start.

    why do the germans love to put giant back seat headrests in the middle in cars with tiny rear windows? i mean how often are you going to have someone back there who is tall enough to use it? i guess its better to block 50% of your rear visibility all the time than not have a headrest for someone sitting in the middle .01% of the time
