One reason this song is so personal to Su is because the lyrics and imagery (as seen in the original Monochrome video) allegorically depict the nuclear bomb attack on Hiroshima near the end of World War II. Su is from Hiroshima. A very melancholic and moody atmosphere in this piece - so different from other Babymetal songs!
This feels like a very important moment. For me personally, I think this was the first time that I didn‘t see the small, slightly dorky Suzuka from Sakura Gakuin in her. This was 100% Su, the professional singer. And I think it might change other people‘s perception as well, whether they are fans or (potential) newcomers to BABYMETAL.
She is such a pro, those years in ASH set her up to be able to go out and nail a performance, pretty much at will at this stage of her career, and her years in SG taught her to be humble as well as conquering the world
I've seen vocal coaches say that female vocalists only really enter their peak in their late twenties and early thirties, so if that it true, it means that Su hasn't even peaked yet and she's going to get even better, which is kind of mindboggling! We've always known that Su was powerful, but this performance showed a degree of subtlety and technical skill we haven't really seen before.

Go in the Way-Back Machine and look at at her solo performances, aged 8 to 10, before SG or even the Karen Girls, but at the mall or w/ ASH and you will see the same Mona Lisa smile, the same directness. It's like, even then, she knew she would be doing this some day, it's just, as such a tiny thing, she didn't have the power. Now she has THE POWER!

In Hiroshima, We go to school and learn about war, and think about peace, every year (on this day, although it is summer vacation). Since I was a little child, I have spent (this day) in such a way. So, I have thought that all people in the world thinks about peace in this day, August 6th. Last year, I spent this day in Tokyo for the first time. I was said "What? Was there anything special on this day!?". I was surprised that this day is a normal day for everyone (around me). If I were not born in Hiroshima, I may have not think so? Such a imagine makes me to think that it is good for me to be born in Hiroshima. And, I want to be unchanged, wherever I am. Suzuka
This is one of the best things I've seen in my entire life! And I'm a new fan of just 3 months and I've felt like I experienced these ladies journey emotionally with them. To see them here in this medium, and to hear Su have probably her best live performance of her life..the advancement in her singing ability is INSANE how much better it is, and she always had the power and pitch! She is legit superstar status now and now a bigger part of the world will be exposed to her voice, and to Babymetal! Such an incredible band, and they are showing us they are just getting STARTED!!

They were backup vocalists. If you want harmonies on The First Take, you need to bring in vocalists. They are dressed in robes to hide their identities because they aren't apart of Babymetal and aren't the featured singers. It's the same reason they mask the Babybones.
Happiness, pain, sadness, doubt, anticipation, hope, … Su-metal's vocals are expressive. I listened to the lyrics line by line, and Su-metal's singing conveyed the same emotions as the lyrics. In other words, no matter I know or not know Japanese, I can understand what she is singing.
LOL, that left a quaver in your voice right to the end, John. Actually, there is a performance of Akatsuki (unfinished version) that Su- did at age 16 during the Legend 1997 show. Similar type of arrangement, just piano and strings. I recommend the 90% less blue edit done by Buttons-Metal so you can see what is going on.
Nice reaction. Very emotional. Moa said in an interview they start work on this song 5 years ago. And she still looked a little nervous doing this. I bet Su told her not to make her laugh. All it would take is a Moa smirk. It works on everyone. I think this why Su keeps looking up. At first, I thought she's short 5' 2". and the mic seems high. Have you ever reacted to the band Queen Bee? They have either three or four songs on the first take. They are so good, one of my favorite Japanese bands, that I’ve been following since like 2012. I never thought they were going to get so famous in Japan, they’re on like every other anime soundtrack now it feels like and they are so good! I cannot recommend them enough !!!
I've read two theories on who the robed ladies are. This was done after YuiMetal left. So... Theory one is it's the Avengers (backup dancers and singer that took YuiMetal's place for a short time.) Theory two is that it's supposed to repersent the original three members, Su-Metal, MoaMetal and YuiMetal.
I’ve really gotten into Babymetal in the last kinda 4/5 years. What’s so nice about The Other One is that it takes them outta childhood and into adulthood with the songs, what they’re about. I love the fun still but I think progressing slightly out of the gimmicky era. Be interesting to see a follow up album to TOO now there’s MoMo who apparently does scream. I wanna hear it 😊
I knew Babymetal when I was just so young in 2013 when their Megitsune mv came out, then just now, I rewatch all of their song. And just realize how great are them. This song, in my opinion is like flashback for those who following them since day 1. And it's great. I am not complaining about their internal, their transition for not being as it was, or anything else. 'Cause art is there to enjoy even after long time passed until in the end of the world. The 3 robed persons are Babymetal... It's a tease to the reveal for the next 3rd member that will be uncovered probably next month. They have been a duo ever since Yui left in 2018 because of health reasons. But ever since "the One (Stairway to living Legend)" and their last hiatus, they have heen teasing a 3rd member. There is still debate to who it will be. Some think Momoko, since she is now still the only remaining avenger. Or maybe it's the return of Yui, after 5 years there are still no updates of what she is doing now and it's still a hope for a lot of fans (me included). Or is it a totally new and still unknown member, maybe someone from Sakura Gakuin (their origin)? Who knows? Only the fox god knows🦊🦊🦊

The recording and production is solely done by The First Take which has absolutely nothing to do with Amuse or Babymetal except that TFT were gracious enough to send an invite to Babymetal to perform for their TH-cam Channel. Babymetal wanted harmonies with Moa, and the only way to accomplish that on The First Take is to have in studio vocalists. Babymetal decided to put them in robes for whatever reason.
@@allegorical That's not how that works. Amuse and the production control what you get to see. The first take invites them, but it's not that BM has to be just happy on their knees to be there. If BM is not in control, they would simply nog come on the channel. For BM it's just a promo. And do the first take always have their own backup singers in the videos? It just doesn't make sense and not in that way either. BM is in total control of that image.

I absolutely love BABYMETAL and Su and Moa are so amazing. I just wish they could have been more relaxed and out of character for this. Like LiSa was in some of hers. Obviously the girls are very talented and sounded so beautiful, but I wanted to see them have a little more fun. See them smile and giggle before or after. I really wanted to see Su-metal and Moametal but then I wanted to see them turn into Suzuka Nakamoto and Moa Kikuchi after. This still made me tear up. The 3 girls in white was mysterious. Ok some answers to your questions first: the three girls (?) in the white robes could be a reminiscence to one of Babymetals first li Be shows where they were wearing similar outfits or it could be a hint to the soon to be revealed “new metal” aka new 3 rd member of BabyMetal (they hinted that in the last live show on January 28). And yes those three were doing the backup vocals in the “oh oh oh” parts with Moa. In a recent interview Su mentioned that the song was recorded a few years ago (2018 or 2019) and that she felt it was a very positive and uplifting song. Now after it was officially released and so many fans made it more about the Hiroshima bombing (Su’s hometown) and/or other devastating events (the war in Ukraine, the pandemic, etc) she felt differently about the song and I think you can clearly hear that in her interpretation. I honestly shed more than a few tears when I saw this video first because of Su’s insane emotional vocals and the sharp contrast to Moas warm and cosy voice. They’ve never done something like that before but the closest performance is “Akatsuki unfinished” or “The One - Stairway to living Legends” which are also stripped down versions of the original songs. Both super emotional as well. Either way incredible performance and I am glad you enjoyed it! ❤🤘🦊🔥

Have you ever reacted to the band Queen Bee? They have either three or four songs on the first take. They are so good, one of my favorite Japanese bands, that I’ve been following since like 2012. I never thought they were going to get so famous in Japan, they’re on like every other anime soundtrack now it feels like and they are so good! I cannot recommend them enough !!!

I've read two theories on who the robed ladies are. This was done after YuiMetal left. So...
Theory one is it's the Avengers (backup dancers and singer that took YuiMetal's place for a short time.)
Theory two is that it's supposed to repersent the original three members, Su-Metal, MoaMetal and YuiMetal.
I’ve really gotten into Babymetal in the last kinda 4/5 years. What’s so nice about The Other One is that it takes them outta childhood and into adulthood with the songs, what they’re about. I love the fun still but I think progressing slightly out of the gimmicky era.
Be interesting to see a follow up album to TOO now there’s MoMo who apparently does scream. I wanna hear it 😊

I knew Babymetal when I was just so young in 2013 when their Megitsune mv came out, then just now, I rewatch all of their song. And just realize how great are them. This song, in my opinion is like flashback for those who following them since day 1. And it's great.
I am not complaining about their internal, their transition for not being as it was, or anything else. 'Cause art is there to enjoy even after long time passed until in the end of the world. We couldn't make everyone happy, afterall. So let things we couldn't control just happen. In the name of Fox God !

It's a tease to the reveal for the next 3rd member that will be uncovered probably next month.
They have been a duo ever since Yui left in 2018 because of health reasons. But ever since "the One (Stairway to living Legend)" and their last hiatus, they have heen teasing a 3rd member.
There is still debate to who it will be. Some think Momoko, since she is now still the only remaining avenger.
Or maybe it's the return of Yui, after 5 years there are still no updates of what she is doing now and it's still a hope for a lot of fans (me included).
Or is it a totally new and still unknown member, maybe someone from Sakura Gakuin (their origin)?

No they aren't. They are backup vocalists and they are using the robes to hide their identities since they aren't apart of Babymetal.

It is the 3rd member and that image is that she is a part of them already and the holding hands is their bond together as a trinity oncemore.

The holding of hands is a big clue,in the early days it was very common of them to hold hands while traveling or out in public. You're correct in saying it's a sign of the bond the 3 of them have had since they were little girls
@@kerimmejdoub1381 Babymetal did not produce this video. The recording and production is solely done by The First Take which has absolutely nothing to do with Amuse or Babymetal except that TFT were gracious enough to send an invite to Babymetal to perform for their TH-cam Channel.
Babymetal wanted harmonies with Moa, and the only way to accomplish that on The First Take is to have in studio vocalists. Babymetal decided to put them in robes for whatever reason.
@@allegorical That's not how that works. Amuse and the production control what you get to see. The first take invites them, but it's not that BM has to be just happy on their knees to be there. If BM is not in control, they would simply nog come on the channel. For BM it's just a promo.
And do the first take always have their own backup singers in the videos? It just doesn't make sense and not in that way either. BM is in total control of that image.

I absolutely love BABYMETAL and Su and Moa are so amazing. I just wish they could have been more relaxed and out of character for this. Like LiSa was in some of hers. Obviously the girls are very talented and sounded so beautiful, but I wanted to see them have a little more fun. See them smile and giggle before or after. I really wanted to see Su-metal and Moametal but then I wanted to see them turn into Suzuka Nakamoto and Moa Kikuchi after. This still made me tear up.
The 3 girls in white was mysterious. BABYMETAL always keeping us guessing. 🤘🦊🤘

Be shows where they were wearing similar outfits or it could be a hint to the soon to be revealed “new metal” aka new 3 rd member of BabyMetal (they hinted that in the last live show on January 28). And yes those three were doing the backup vocals in the “oh oh oh” parts with Moa.
In a recent interview Su mentioned that the song was recorded a few years ago (2018 or 2019) and that she felt it was a very positive and uplifting song. Now after it was officially released and so many fans made it more about the Hiroshima bombing (Su’s hometown) and/or other devastating events (the war in Ukraine, the pandemic, etc) she felt differently about the song and I think you can clearly hear that in her interpretation. I honestly shed more than a few tears when I saw this video first because of Su’s insane emotional vocals and the sharp contrast to Moas warm and cosy voice.
They’ve never done something like that before but the closest performance is “Akatsuki unfinished” or “The One - Stairway to living Legends” which are also stripped down versions of the original songs. Both super emotional as well.
