  • I expected greatness, and I was not disappointed. I really don't have much to say about this other than what respect I had for Su as a singer has been leveled up significantly. It was already high.
Please watch it in the F1RST TAKE channel, and check out the original as well.

You didn't talk much, but I liked this reaction. Having your eyes fixed on the screen and just listening is what this performance calls for. I guess many of us felt like this: We knew Su was good, but we were still surprised to see actual proof how good she really is. It's not just the stability and dynamics in the notes, it's also the emotion she puts into it. I have seen this dozens of times now, and I still tear up every time. It looked to me like you too found some new respect for her.
And it's very interesting (and new) to get so close to her when she does it. The way she shapes her mouth to produce the perfect note is interesting to behold, and again, we never got to see that before. Huge thanks to the TFT channel!

Thanks for reacting to this Ryan. I think this is a bit of a game changer for Babymetal. People have questioned Su's singing for years, claiming she lip syncs, sounds squeeky or like a robot, etc. Maybe she got tired of that crap. This was a bold move for them and for First Take. She is a pretty stellar talent.

Lip syncing they think that because they don't know the difference in lip syncing and backing tracks.the backing tracks are not used to fool the only time her lips are moving is the growls.

    • @highrez5247
      @highrez5247 ปีที่แล้ว +10

Ikr, all you need is a good pair of headphones to hear the difference. The backing vocals are pretty clear in every song and never used to hide/mask her natural voice which is also distinguishable. She only Evers sings slightly above or slightly below but never on the same level. I think that it's good that they use tracked vocals because it makes it pretty obvious that she's not lip syncing

The funny part is: when Su-metal does lip syncing, Legend 1997 Headbanger Night of 15 remix (it's wasn't meant to be song) or Moscow (she was sick) she isn't even good at lip syncing or intentionally bad to show this isn't her.

Koba became aware of a promising young singer, Suzuka Nakamoto, in the Amuse, Inc. Kid's division.
At that time, Suzuka was the youngest member of the JPop trio Karen Girl's (2008-2009), a group formed to sing the music for the anime 'Zettai Karen Children'.
Koba attended their final concert in late March of 2009, and got the idea that Su's "no-holds-back" singing might pair well with Metal.
So he formed a group around her.
This is Su in full control of her instrument.

  • @cuttysark8017

"Monochrome" has a common BM theme of loss and hope and triumph over adversity. People have theorized that it's about USAF air raids on Japan or even the Hiroshima bomb, but BM and BM songs are a canvas that fans like to paint on and I think linking "Monochrome" with historical events is going a bit too far. I just take it as a song about having the strength to win out over adversity in any form.
The best bit IMO is at the end where Su does a series of crescendos showing her amazing vocal control and ability to project emotion into the listener. Many people cry when reacting to this performance and I think that's down to the beautiful musical arrangement and the sincerity of Su and Moa...and of course Su's amazing voice.

you know it is great when you have nothing to say about it. we all knew Su was great but this takes it to a whole nuther level. what i love is even in a studio setting she has such loud voice but controlled and clear. her range is amazing. from very low to very high. i even love how in my opinion Moa sounded a little nervous the first time but she was great after that. to go in a studio like setting and do one take of a song is very stressful. i hope like others have said most of the time when an artist goes on First Take they do 2 songs and now i hope there is another song. but thinking about it i have no idea what song they would do like this. i would love to see them do a piano slow version of Megitsune but i dont know. i have heard piano only of that song and it was great but how can you slow the vocals down to be great with the piano is what i have no idea about.

It has been a long night for all of us. For us, it was difficult to perform live and even meet people,” “Some people are still fighting through this difficult situation. But everyone is gradually returning back into their daily lives.
I want to encourage people to keep their chin up and have faith that a brighter future will come even if the sky is pitch black.” As was explained to Kerrang in a recent exclussive cover story interview!!
Strip away the high production value & you realize these ladies are no f*** joke. They are every bit the professionals as their Kami band counterparts.
I think some people forget this isn't their first rodeo & have been at this for over a decade. However I didn't realize just how true a statement that was until just recently myself.
When a little known performance of Suzuka appeared at 9 year old at Ash Springs Act competition as wow lol. This is 3 years before Babymetal debuted at SummerSonic.
Which would have made them around 12 at the time then. So that puts things into some proper perspective. Su-Metal was born for the stage that is obvious at this point clearly. No wonder Koba & Amuze took interest so early on. Rock on Ladies!! Respect!🤘🦊💕

  • @GenTzu

I agree this is one of if not the best BM performance (despite you opinion of TFT). Su's ability to control her voice and put some much emotional power is without par. And the contrast of Moa's soft sweet voice just adds more depth to the emotional feel.
At first I though Moa looked stiff and nervous. Now I believe she is so accustomed to dancing, she had to "lock-in" to avoid dancing (Su did a little). In an interview they said this song was first recorded five (5) years ago and Su thought it was "light." She was surprised at the ONE's take on the song. IMO the video images were misdirection. But it also indicates that at least someone in BM organization and perhaps SuMoa actively read social media.

I think the later albums of Babymetal (which was less appreciated by the fan who love the way of the fantastic heavy sound of the kami-band) is set directly emphasizing on showing Su and Moa abilities. When they were young, Kami band were like a babysitter groups who help their show to be more fantstic, more heavy sound ,more aggressive sound that can bring these girls' performance be more interesting. Since they gave a metal duck mask on band, let the band stayed in the shadows behind them, they start to let these ladies to fight by herself. Use their voice, their performance as a main weapon to the world. I love both ways of it. and i'm keep waiting more 'n more on them. What's next?

The waves by those images come and go and make me move emotionally. Thank you BABYMETAL. And thank you Koba for your serendipity. Some 13 years ago, you certainly discovered something amazing and sacred for us.
Speaking of the three figures in white hood adding some background vocals, I assume they are the same girls who performed Doki Doki Morning as clone BABYMETAL in Makuhari last January. The combination of their heights reminded me of them dancing face-to-face with Su, Moa and Momoko. Of course they are also homage to BM's girlhood with original three girls.

Her voice has some special properties. People close to her have noted and there are some analysis's with impressive looking charts and graphs out there. She sings through her nose and has odd shaped large nasal cavities. She can't well control her volume and her voice doesn't fade. Her voice is very little effected by instruments or walls. She's not really belting. She doesn't use much air which is why she can dance and jump while singing. And notice she alway suppresses vibrato? I don't know why but it's probably because of her special properties. My point is that it's a special voice and it's gonna sound different than you'd expect.
