As a metal head and hard rock enthusiast, Aurora is actually a guilty pleasure for me. Aurora may make indie art synth pop music but she's a metal head herself. She writes and produces her own music from a very young age and is very empathic, hopefully you dive more into her discography. Definitely check out her live stuff.

There’s very few artists that I can say Sound even better live. Most, if we’re lucky, sound like the recording. But in Aurora’s case, her live performances are just on a whole other level. So I definitely recommend checking out her live and acoustic versions of her songs in addition to their recorded versions. I think each version brings something different. But her energy and the way you can see how connected she is with her music really just takes her songs to a whole new level when you see her live.
She has had some great performances on the Nobel Peace stage, as well as a cathedral (who’s name I’m blanking on and can pronounce anyways lol. I’m sure someone has already commented about it cause that show was breathtaking. )

Her live performances are better than her music videos because she totally owns her performances. Since you just experienced her official "Runaway" video, perhaps watching her perform it live would be good for you. May I suggest her show at the Honda Stage singing this song. You won't be able to take your eyes off her. Search for : Aurora - Runaway (Live on the Honda Stage).
And yes, she writes and produces all her songs. "Runaway" was written when she was eleven years old. She began teaching herself piano when she was six, wrote her first song "Lucky" when she was nine, and she has never had a music lesson.

Suggestions: I went to far. Official MV or Cure for me. It's a lot of full concerts on TH-cam like live at Lollapalooza 2023 and the full concert in Nidarosdomen cathedral in Trondheim, Norway 🇳🇴 and many more. She's hilarious too, she's a comedian on stage between her songs. Making her audience laugh 😂 😂 No wonder her weirdos love her. 👍 Best regards from Norway 🇳🇴

    Great reaction!
Aurora is the total package - singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, producer/arranger, choreographer, and an absolutely lovely human being (and she’s just 26 years old!). She will often perform her songs quite differently - sometimes with her band, other times stripped down to just her and one instrument, a cappella, with full orchestra, etc. - so it is definitely worth listening to different versions of the same song. Also, her videos are mini-masterpieces as well.
A short list of original songs:
Runaway - Nobel Peace Prize concert and her music video
Through the Eyes of a Child - Nidarosdomen concert, my recommendation Live Stripped - VIVO UK Lift
It Happened Quiet - Nidarosdomen concert, but I'd recommend the live at The Current version as well
    Churchyard - Live on KEXP
Winter Bird - Nidarosdomen concert and her music video
Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1 - Nobel Peace Prize Concert
    Lucky - Nidarosdomen concert
Little Boy in the Grass - Nidarosdomen concert
The Seed - Music Video, HAIK Concert
The River - Music video, Live in Bergen 2020
Exist For Love - Music video,
    Daydreamer - Music video
She also does some awesome covers:
Life on Mars - David Bowie
    Believer - Imagine Dragons
God is a Woman - Ariana Grande
Across the Universe - John Lennon
    Teardrop - Massive Attack
    Rasputin - Boney M
And of course there is her latest album “The Gods we can Touch” which is pure gold!

I so hope you venture down the Aurora rabbit hole. I adore her music...and her as a person.
Runaway is FAR and away her biggest song.....but I'd rank it as her 15th best song, at most. Top tracks, for me, would be Lucky(live at Nidarosdomen), Wake Up(a demo), A Different Kind of Human, The Woman I Am, All is Soft Inside, Giving in to the Love, Winter Bird, I Went Too Far, Soulless Creatures, Infections of a Different Kind, Little Boy in the Grass(live at Nidarosdomen), annnd I need to stop or else I'll just keep going forever lol.
She's especially amazing live....especially that Nidarosdomen show. It's easily one of the top 5 concerts I've ever seen, and I've seen Tool and The White Stripes _in person_ whereas I only saw Nidarosdomen on my laptop w headphones! But it's _that_ good. It was actually my first introduction to Aurora...on March 15, 2020. I remember the date because of how impactful that whole concert was. It left me with my jaw on the floor and my brain buzzing with inspired possibility and emotionally cathartic hope. I'm legit grateful she even exists....

Awesome to see this amazing artist find her way to your channel, John! 👍🤟
She's fantastic live, and you'll get a lot of great suggestions. But since you said you'd like to see this live, I hope you do the Nobel Peace Prize version of Runaway next, just to make the comparison. That's perhaps her most popular live performance anyway. It's a great intro to Aurora live.

In my mind, she's a mix of Bjork, and Delores from the Cranberries. My advice to you is to look at all the songs/performances suggested, and pick a couple of the less popular requests. Aurora has so much to offer, and I feel like people only recommend the same 3 or 4 songs. Obviously, all of the songs are amazing, but I feel like people miss out on some of the true gems when they go with the most popular requests.

Over 550 million views of this video should tell you that this artist is special, and to think she wrote this at the age of 11/12 years is astonishing but the fact that she started writing songs at the age of 9 especially one called Lucky which you should definitely react to because trust me it’s a masterpiece and her live performance of Lucky at the nidarosdomen cathedral is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful emotional moments ever, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Aurora live 3 times and at my age of 66 I have seen scores of artists live but no one has come close to moving my emotions like Aurora,I’ve no hesitation in saying she’s the best live performer I’ve ever seen it’s the only way to see her for you get to see the whole package of this Genius of an artist,Aurora has a catalog of songs with lyrics that make you think deeply about life and the world we live in but what I love is that she has never craved to become a mainstream artist she has always stayed true to herself and what she believes music should be all about for her music is a medicine for everyone and I for one am blessed to have her music her words of poetry her medicine in my life.she she simply is a Genius ❤️

Aurora was 11 years old when she wrote this. Aurora really shines during LIVE performances, her LIVE version of Runaway is here th-cam.com/video/Fc7XWW_Ehb8/w-d-xo.html she also sang Murder song at the same venue,th-cam.com/video/vh0SWTVwXxw/w-d-xo.html I also highly recommend Aurora singing LIVE, through the eyes of a child, th-cam.com/video/CFzExUN1N8I/w-d-xo.html also, LIVE "It happened quiet" th-cam.com/video/9U-N6LqzdIM/w-d-xo.html

If you're easily affected by emotional performances, bring some tissues. Also, try not to look the lyrics up if you're easily affected by those as well. I still have trouble wrapping my head around the fact that Aurora wrote this song as an 11 year-old girl (though the lyrics were co-written with her producer later).
Oh, and this was not even my favourite song, but I have great respect for it. (My favourite song remains "The Seed"). Don't worry Mr Reeves, Aurora has plenty of equally powerful songs for you to check out.
