Nano meters, nano meters, nano meters, come on Alan, please stop it, I’m still trying to figure out how many grams in a kilo, or even more complicated, what’s heavier, a kilo of feathers or a kilo of lead. This is a great tutorial, definitely going to my favorites collection. I have plans for more IR photography next week, if could only get an alligator to stand still for 10 seconds. Be well and stay safe.
Yes! These replies are confusing! I checked on an R72 in the 77mm size, which is the size I'd need, and can't find one for less than about $100 US. But I might get one anyway just to stay in step with y'all! Lol!!
@@TC_Conner Yes, I just checked, Amazon has the Hoya 77mm R-72 Infrared Filter $90 (and 64 cents), I got the 72mm because it’s the exact one for my XF16-80.
@@Enrique-the-photographer You are correct, I have that one in my cart Enrique. I shoot with a Canon EOS R, an RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM, and a soon-to-be-shipped RF 14-35mm f/4 L IS USM both of which require a 77mm thread size. 💜
Fantastically interesting Alan! I knew I'd find your editing of infrared photos very appealing. I checked Amazon for an R 72 filter and they run $100 US. Which isn't a lot actually, and may be a doable purchase in the future now that you've really piqued my interest in infrared photography! Hmmm, I wonder if it's too late for me to ask Santa for that R72 filter? 🎅🏼💜🎅🏼
Oh I spent hours in front of my monitor trying to get a decent IR "look" to my R72 shot images alright!! At the end I felt like throwing the bloody thing in a lake - just couldn't get on with it. But having watched your excellent tutorial I shall give it another go :-) Great explanation on the IR nanometer front too - really enjoyed that. On a separate note, what's the story with the Nik Collection these days? I remember it used to be eye-wateringly expensive, then Google bought it and made it all free of charge, but with the proviso that it would get no more updates - ever!. Is it still available for free these days, and more importantly I guess, is it now maintained?.
Thanks Nick and I do hope you give it another go. Well regarding NIK collection, I think there are links still out there to the old free version, but I was lucky getting the latest version for half price during Black Friday event (£69). As it is part of the DXO collection it is fully maintained.

Enrique's just bought one TC. Wait a while until he's fed up of it and then nag him to send it your way ;-)
@@duringthemeanwhilst I'm not with it yet. LOL
@@Enrique-the-photographer oops ;-)

@@duringthemeanwhilst TC, as Nick just told you, I just got a Hoya 72mm R72 Infrared Filter from B&H for $69 (and 99 cents) and it works great.
