      Important notice! Please check the wires coming out of the motor. Mine were getting worn from the sharp edges right within a couple inches at the exit from the inner hub through the extrusion that holds the shock. It wore thru the shrink wrap and the n the wire insulation up to the actual wires on two of them. Luckily while changing the tire I noticed it and had to file the sharp corners then coated the wires heavily to prevent future issues. I will also check and beef up the insulation each time I open it up from now on.

    The next BIG innovation with EUC's will be a quick and easy tyre change. It's crazy how complicated it's gone from the V8 to the V11. I don't mind getting technical but the risk of damage has gone up too much.

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LeoPira None of these companies are great when it comes to customer service. They are foremost Chinese companies with very little local presence. That's why it's best to use a local dealer if possible. Inmotion has been making updates based on early feedback. I actually really like the V11. I loved riding it (seated and standing) and the ride is indeed very comfortable. The build quality is fantastic.
      Since my pre-production unit failed and another pre-production unit also failed, personally I would wait a few months to see if there are any reliability issues with the production units that are now starting to ship. Assuming that there are none, I absolutely would recommend the V11. I may be getting one myself - after a few months :-)

    Great video Marty, it is quite an ordeal to swap out the tire, but I do think you explain the steps very well, was also interesting to see how InMotion attached the motor to the body of the wheel instead of an axle, that should be pretty strong and no risk of bending an axle doing jumps etc. Excellent mate.

      Regarding the noise, I have no idea, to be honest.
      I was afraid that bearings are the problem after I watched the “wrong way” channel, a guy had such an issue with v11.
      The noise was there till the end, I had to pull out the motor to check bearings. But I didn’t find anything. And when I assembled it back the noise was gone.
      I hope it stays this way.

    You don't have to take she shock out of the housing.. I'm surprised inmotion didn't put bars out the side or the circuit board to screw the motor wires into (side access). Funny how you have to VOID THE WARRANTY (warranty stickers) to fix a flat

    Just curious why we never get torque values for the screws. Maybe it's not that important for these. I just feel like, since I'm trusting my safety to the machine, I want to have specifics. Can anyone clue me in as to why they are not (apparently) important? (Or provide actual values please?) When I assembled even non-moving machines for a job I had, even then we used powered screwdrivers with different torque settings. Maybe it's something about the type of screw/thread? I don't know much, so maybe it's an easy answer. Just a really large acceptable torque range, so anything "snugish" is ok?

      Yeah, we've been wanting torque values for years. I don't believe the Chinese EUC manufacturers use torque wrenches, etc. when assembling the wheels and that's why we have no values.

    so there's no real axle that goes thrue the wheel/motor? :-O instead just 4 M6 bolts holding it all in place, taking all the abuse??
    i wonder what warranty might be worth if i ever change my tire myself. the shop that sold it, does not have it's own repair shop. it's just a general electrics shop.

    • @ElectricUnicycles

      I think most people eventually learn to maintain their own wheels. Generally you only need a few tools and time.

    • @hannesdobbelaere

      Doing it myself shouldn't be a problem. But since changing a tire requires alot of disasebling, i can imagine warranty would be void.

    At this part; 18:29 and correct me if I'm wrong but swapping any two of the motor wires probably wouldn't hurt the motor, it would just reverse the direction it would know to spin. The software might not be set up for it, so it would throw an error, or maybe it would go backward when leaning forward. Still not worth swapping the motor wires for the average Joe.

    • @ElectricUnicycles

      I have seen people damage their wheels by connecting the motor wires wrong. I wouldn't take the chance and risk it.

    I think I would just slap a little red/green paint on the inside of parts to denote which side they belong to. I would definitely want to solder on some plugs on the phase and hall wires to reduce the frequency of having to open the motherboard enclosure. For the self-tapping screws I would epoxy in some thread inserts so I could replace them with machine screws. Additionally I wish they would quit using Philips head screws, and just use hex for everything.

    Wow, incredible. Thank you so much for shedding light on this. I bought this V11 wheel about 2 yrs ago and I dreaded the process to change the tire. At the time it cost an incredible $1300. It has doubled from that but looking at all the parts and all the engineering and all the bolts I do not understand how it can even be sold at a present $2500. Never mind getting the tire changed. Unless you’re able to do it yourself it’s like getting a new set of tires for a Ferrari. So thank you once again

    Hi, Marty,
    I use a 5 amp charger on my two V8 and my V10f. I have a V11 pre-ordered.
    From what you saw inside the V11, does the charging cables gauge seem to be strong enough to support such charging current?
    If not, did you try to charge the V11 with the 2.5 amp and a 1.5 amp chargers?
    How does the wheel sum up currents?
    Cheers,
    Jeff

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only have the stock charger with this wheel so I have no insight weather you can charge at a higher rate on the single port. You could be conservative and make a splitter cable to allow you to use your 5-amp charger by plugging it into both charge ports.
