21 minute video about euc cut off.. You know Adam is going to go in to great detail! This helps me out understand euc logic much better! The animations were great :D
This should be a MUST WATCH video to all new riders. Learning how to ride EUCs can feel overwhelming, and in turn some critical safety information can get easily be overlooked. I always teach safety and smooth riding first. Great information in an easy to understand delivery. Bravo, Adam 👏
Recently I experienced cut-off on RS19 at speed around 55km or little higher. I've got a pretty serious cut off on left knee and scratches on 7 spot of my body so I diagnosed 4 weeks to be cured. So depressed felt like losing confidence and trust about EUC thing cuz I thought the speed itself wasn't that fast enough to cause cut-off. But your explain made the reason of cutoff clear and put the courage back in to my heart....thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge!!! Hats off from Korea...
I came back here after cutting off my Msuper V3S+ with the 2000w motor (basically a preproduction MSX 84v). I wasn't full gear for the first time in months because I was just strolling along but I somehow decided to accelerate as hard as possible. The wheel indicated 64%, but according to EUC it dipped below 50% before cutting off. I topped around 55 km/h (which is the safe top speed above 70-80% ) and fall to my demise. My elbows and knees are looking like pizzas, else nothing is broken. I couldn't sleep due to the pain for the first two nights ... All the gear all the time guys. Only once is sufficient... Let my pain serve you.
I cringe when I see cyclists even without helmets. had my share of crashes on my bicycle even when I was a kid and didn't wear a helmet, somehow I managed to avoid hitting my head or breaking any bones. I haven't crashed often as an adult, but at least twice I did hit my helmet and any number of other times have torn up my knees elbows and palms. besides at the higher speeds you want to be wearing goggles anyway... all it takes is riding through one swarm of gnats at high speed and you'll be wearing a full face helmet and goggles after that 🤣
Unusual cutoff situation - Your a light rider, powerful wheel, warm day, 90% charge on your battery, downhill, no wind. Your edging up the speed gently, faster and faster. - because its downhill, your not demanding too much from the battery, or the motor, or the controller, in fact you may not be charging or depleting your battery at all. Completely safe - NO. In fact you may hit the maximum speed for the controller and you will be off. The controller has a maximum speed rpm that it can turn the wheel, that's why it cuts off when you lift it off the ground. I believe that it is not too much faster than the top speed quoted for the EUC and its the prime reason why hitting a bump at speed can result in a cut off. You did mention this but I thought I would emphasis the point.
P = F * v. So if you are going some serious downhill you will need some serious force to hold the speed and therefore the power is high. You can overload the EUC easily. If you are not "braking" and accelerating you will reach a speed limit at some point where the tiltback function might engage, the tiltback Power peak might overload / overcharge the battery = cutoff. The tiltback - failsafe behavior is designed for most situations but its not bulletproof.
Lift the wheel and test the top speed to find out the tilt-back speed the beep speed and when it feels like it loses torque it'll feel like it gets loose a few miles an hour before the wheel cuts off
Wish i would have watch this video before today’s experience. Enthusiastic one week old rider, with a ninebot z6 (2nd hand) and a battery at 50%, a strong acceleration ended in a nasty crash after 100m due to cut off. Thanks to your video i know now what to look into so to know my wheel better, progress…and certainly look into a wheel better fitting my profile:) one of my mistake: cutting off alarm as i can’t yet differentiate speed alarm from tilt/warning one..but luckily your advice 11 is already a reflex for me (otherwise i wouldn’t be able to write this;).
To bad I didnt check put this video before I, yes, fell flat on my face going 40 mph with no pads and hurt my knees extremely bad..going full speed still leaning forward. Now that I know I cant wait to get back on my wheel! I love it!
Thank you so much, you are doing a huge service to the community. When you mentioned 11 things we can do to prevent cut-offs I thought I would already know them all , but I didn’t and learned a couple of new measures. I’m a pro Hang glider pilot, and airplane private pilot too with over 10,000 hours of flying experience and lost too many friends already ( due to silly mistakes and poor safety attitude) after flying for 25 years. Had my own share of near misses and near fatal accidents (on hang-gliders). Safety is paramount. Got into EUCs a month ago and fell in love with it. (Riding a KS16X with about 200 miles on it) love your channel.
Thank you. I’ve just bought a 18XL after overpowering my V8 and ended up with multiple sprains. (Even fully geared up) My new motto is ‘don’t go above 75-80% of the wheels capabilities’
Hey Steve. Just did a face plant a few hours ago on my V8. Around 50% charge, I passed a couple bicyclists with a burst of acceleration. Top speed increased with the DarknessBot app to 23 mph. The V8 cut out, for the first time, leaving me injured a bit, sore, and in some pain. I was on my way home from a long ride so as to arrive with about 20-40% charge. Also, I need better body armor. An elbow pad ripped off. Cheep pads. Never again. I'll turn down the top speed. I'm looking for my next wheel. That Gotway MSS looks nice. Others have been: KS16X, MSX, MSP, and Nikola. I like the KS-S18. Even more to choose from. I hear ya man! Peace...Guy
@@yuginoty65 Just got the V8F brand new and your story sounds scary. I keep it usually below 20mph, have tilt back set to that speed. What speed did you cut out at?
I wasn't going fast. Probably the wheel cutout at around 15 mph. I think the cutout was due to an over current condition caused by a hard acceleration at a lower battery state. The wheel logic probably had no chance, time, to signal, either by tilt back or sound, so it cutout to protect itself from over heating the circuitry. I think, with the DarknessBot top speed increase, the margin of error is narrowed for wheel circuitry protection. I think I've seen the no-load cutoff speed as 26 mph, so 23 mph top speed is close, leaving a narrower margin, whereas 18.5 mph top speed gives a wide margin for safely. Now I don't push it when the battery level drops below 60%. After the crashes I've seen here on TH-cam of riders at the speeds of more capable wheels, my interest in speed and the requirement for very serious body protection, has lessened. Still, I'd rather be "over dressed" for the occasion, than not. Now I'm more interested in range than speed. Range makes for heavy wheels. So I have to find a balance for my next wheel. With all of the new wheels, especially with suspension, entering the market, decisions are becoming much more difficult. Peace...Guy
Felix Franz the V8F has an updated control board, so it’s definitely safer than the original V8. But anything can be overpowered, so be careful out there!
Damn, This is exactly what is putting me off getting one of these is that cut off, I seen people come off, An i know it would proper suck coming off one of these at speed, I am going too research a bit more on these electric unicycles, The portability is a bonus for me, Will be looking into it a bit more, But i will say you is the first too come out with this one as far as i know, An sharing it, Even better, Nice one bro......
This is such an important video, and very well made. i just began riding an euc approximately one week ago, and i must say that i didn’t think that i could learn to ride an euc before i committed to learning. i used a shopping cart 🛒 and practiced until i could ride without the use of holding onto the shopping cart. this video has helped me to understand how important it is, to be aware of all of the things you have mentioned in your video. thank you so much for making great videos! keep up the great work! i can see why the euc community is expanding and growing exponentially each and every day. for anyone thinking about riding an euc, i would say that for me, it had nothing to do with anything related to thinking about how to ride, and everything to do with muscle memory, and just practice practice practice. my body became use to the feeling of riding and then i was able to ride an euc just from practicing. i also noticed the first few days i was using muscles that i had not used in a long time, but after a few days of riding, my legs do not get as fatigued as they first did. im also looking forward to utilizing a seat very soon. a very comfy seat =)
I'm starting on uec, I got 64v Mcm5, I've done 400km in 30 days, and one day my wheel tilt front, now I learn it was not a tilt but cut off, I was lucky enough not to fall, but to control, never more. I love uec. Thx
Great video. I just ordered my first EUC and I have been thinking about safety. This video has helped me understand what I need to look out for so I can still have a good time and be safe.
Great video! Thank you for sharing. I'm just getting into the EUC sport, and don't have anyone to guide me, so I really appreciate these informative videos, especially about such important topics!
The most important part of EUC gear is not mentioned: wrist guards. When cut-off happens, you are almost guaranteed to hit your hands first when falling. That's especially important when going over 60km/h on EUC no one has tested before, Adam. The helmet is important, obviously, but so are the wrist guards. Certainly more important than back protection, especially when you are riding with a backpack.
I love this video and now I understand much better what to do not to get a cut off. I've had it twice and now I was a bit scared. But this video has made me trust my euc again. Driving is really addictive. Thank you very much Adam!
Thanks Adam. I was super worried about the limits since I'm a new EUC rider, and my EUC (the InMotion V11) doesn't have a crazy high top speed, and I'm a heavier rider, and I plan on riding it even in the winter, and my 9 mile commute each way has some big hills, so I'm expecting a lot lower performance. I wasn't sure whether the alarms would adjust automatically to those conditions or not. It's a relief to hear that they will.
It’s WW that i find offers invaluable info not just for me but the industry as a whole. I haven’t entered yet, but my body is too old to face consequences of an industry that’s growing in stability and technological safety factors until it becomes a truly smooth machine where motor, battery and controller are completely in harmony. This video was done in 2020 i believe, it’s 2023, what is WW’s take on the transformation of the quality of the machine and how much more before euc’s becomes a perfect commuter where only ignorant rider error causes crashes.
Got a cutoff in gdansk with my nikola at 58kmh...result one arm broken. Never had such issue with my v10f (I miss the loud warning "please slow down"). Take care guys and thank you for this video !!! Good job.
should have watched this BEFORE I ate that delicious 30mph(48kph) pavement sandwich... -_- Great video! now I know. *checks bank account to see if he can afford a faster wheel*
Just had my first cutoff... I doubt it will be the last because even though I could have gotten seriously hurt I refuse to give up. Gotway MSX 84V at 35 mph in 40° F temperature. My gear saved my life. Leatt 3df airfit chest elbows and shorts. With a MIPS helmet.
As a newb rider early on, I tried picking up speed in my first ride hours. Got alot of beeping-but I ignored it. I knew I was nowhere near it's top speed. I wobbled, and went flying ahead of my ride. Onto my keys and phone, which made a big knot in my front pocket (lesson learned! Smh). Had a sharp pain in that hip socket, but I was good after 3-4 days... While not riding, I did some fooling around with the app-found I was riding with the beginner limiter on! I wiped out at SEVEN MPH....LMAO Good thing I was alone I'm a warehouse.... Newbs should fight the urge to hop on soon as they get their first unit. Learn the app. Look at videos like this one first. And don't pack stuff in ur pants pockets. Lol
I had my Inmotion cutoff at 25mph while going a little downhill after riding about 20 miles and at 120 degree fahrenheit motherboard. In my case, the battery was about 25%, but the indicator was giving the yellow red indication when accelerating. I decided to accelerate too hard and then hit a minor bump in the road. The combo of low power, high accel, high temp, and the bump overlimited and shutoff. I flew down asphalt with minor protective gear about 20-30 feet. Ripped up my chest, nipples, back, about 2 feet of my thigh to left back, elbows to the bone, knees, and tore a tendon in my leg. Oh and I hit my head 4 times rotating with a bike helmet...meaning I hit my face on the asphalt on rotation 3. Now...if I go over 15mph on anything other than flat road I'm wearing full face helmet, minor armor jacket/pants, and hard plastic hands/elbows/knees if any crazier than that.
Great video!!! 👍👍 from my experience on my msx 84volt I got a cut out trying to brake and then accelerate fast on a 70% battery flew off like superman going about 32mph. That was my first fall in 2 years
Ive been riding EUC for 3 years now. Ride your EUC within limits, and the EUC will not face plant you. Think of your EUC as like a horse. Treat your horse well and your horse will treat you well.
Good facts but I would add something. I think quick pullback is not a good solution near top speed, in quick pullback the EUC needs to momentarily accelerate and achieve higher speed. I think its better to smoothly pullback so the EUC power / speed would not reach limits. In most of the cases the smooth driving style prevents a lot of cut offs because the EUC will let you know in advance either by tiltback, feeling or ALARM. Also I think when driving at higher running speed a full face helmet is needed and wrist guards are also very important. You get bruises on knees and body but healing a broken wrist or jaw, teeth is a different story. When falling at higher speed a faceplant happens and the standard bike helmet doesnt give the desired protection.
Wouldn’t it make sense if the manufacturer made it so when you recharge your battery that it always allowed for a regenerative breaking buffer and the 100% from a wall socket was only in fact 90-95%? This could be an option in the set up of the machines for people that need to use it, eg they live at the top of a large hill.
I love this video. Everything you mentioned I have been doing since I started riding . Another thing I wanna add is to always pay attention. Always stay focused no matter what. I have been lucky enough that I have not fallen off my unicycle or have a cut off yet. I will definitely keep implementing or everything you stated in the video.
This video is 3 years late for me and for my shoulder. Cut off with my Msuper V3, I think too much accelerate with not much battery. Anyway thanks for it, there is concepts that I didn’t know.
I don’t see this video before i break my wrist. But does it change anything? I don’t k’now. The EUC needs more guys like you to prevent and explain what that it’s all about. Thank you for the vidéo and vive la roue
i like tilt back better on EUC than on Onewheel. 1. bc the sound for others to hear. 2. for continued tilt back instead of "eat shit and die" option and finally 3. for added trust when riding
Thanks for your great videos.. I'm about to get my first EUC after riding OneWheels for almost two years..I want to get the new Gotway RS.. Trying to decide between the high speed and high torque versions.. do you know which is safer (which has a greater buffer for avoiding cut outs at speed)? The high speed version with higher rpms or the high torque version with greater torque? Thank you
Hola cabo de tener un cut off horrible, varias laseraciones pero bien..mi pregunta como identificar en los graficos q fue por ese motivo..saludos tengo una KS18
I don't think motorcycle gloves are as important as proper wrist guards. Wrists\forearms are the body parts you will fracture first when falling forward. IMO wrist guards are the first piece of gear you have to get.
one question, if my EUC has a 30 MPH max speed, and I set it to 25 MPH limit in phone software like kingsong S18, will that be safer too? because normally I dont push the EUC to max speed, not even 20 MPH most of the time.
Hello wrong way! I hope to get my Msp soon and because I live on a mountain and always have to brake a lot when I go on a ride, I asked the seller what to do there. he said that at least gotway msp has overcharge protection for the batteries !? Nice Video!
yea.. they all have overcharge protection lol.. thats why you can get a cutout going down hill on full battery... if you live on a mountain dont ever charge to 100%, even though you should for balancing once in a while in which case get to the bottom of the hill before getting on lol
I had start using Bluetooth speakers on my helmet and I'm always connect with gps in my phone and I'm setting speed limit warning. So now I never miss beeping, because before, wiht higher speed and helmet on my head, I've always miss it. Very low cost gadgets for safe riding. I'm recommending it a lot. Good luck to all 👍
Breaking with a full battery shouldn't be too hard to fix for the manufacturers. Just add a reasonably sized resistor where to dump the energy. The resistor wouldn't have to be that big, just so much that it can take one hard breaking for emergency situations. Once the resistor heats up too much it should prevent riding till it cools down.
Hey!! not sure if anyone will see this but nobody is talking about the watts, amps, volts during a ride, what should I keep a eye on besides the speed if I know I’m pushing my wheel too hard?? Let’s say I accelerate up a hill not getting close to top speed but my watts are high, volts are high, and possibly amps , what stats should I keep my eye on to see if I’m pushing any one of those that will cause a cutoff?? Thanks for the info! Great video
Today while I was going with my inmotion, one of the cells dropped below 2.8v and suddenly the electricity was cut. bms cut the electricity .it was actually communicating with the original bms controller in cases like this. but since i burned the original bms i used a different bms The controller did not understand this because there was no communication and the electricity was turned off.
i had a cut off 2 week ago, was my fault, i forgot the battery percent was 10% and i acelerated my monster pro about 50 km, suddenly the monster cut off i have scratches on my right arm, left elbow, right hip and fingers As advice, I want to tell you not to use open gloves or hand pads, i don now the real name, use gloves with touch screen fingers I damaged 5 of my fingers when the cut off happened I had this protection: elbow pads, knee pads, open gloves, helmet
Great Video Adam; you provide a great detail of information for new and experienced riders. Question for you: I have the last alarm set on my MSX. At 100 percent battery the wheel will beep and warn you at near top speed. Will the EUC beep at an earlier speed if the battery power is lower? Keep up the great videos pal, thanks!
12. get better insurance, as if you fall down at above 50 km/h you'll probably not be able to work for a while, but you'll have to pay a lot to heirs of people smashed by your rolling EUC.
You've forgotten about low temperature.. Batteries DO NOT charge ("consume any energy") in temperatures under 5*C (it might be lower with "better" batteries and/or BMC; what more in wet conditions, yes autumn, at high speed.. the temperature might be in fact lower then from forecasts!). So it might be a big surprise "what has happen". Low temperature reduces max power as well.. but I'm not sure if controller is aware of that (ask Daniel, he should know :D )
Hello. Your videos are great, and I both enjoy them an lear from them. I have one question though. For every EUC max speed is listed, but you said it's not good to push the EUC to the limit. So, my question is, if max speed for let say I motion V8 is 30km/h, what is the speed you can safely ride at? Is it said 30km/h or 28, or 25?
On inMotion wheels thr speed is limied by the manufacturer. You can usually always go full throttle :D in any other case for example like in my MSS top speed of wheelspin is 96 kmh then i know i can do 15-20 below that :)
Questions?I have ninebots2,as I'm riding i notice it would deap backwards wen im going straight and I have to jump off and I can't enjoy my riding.this is all the time.1guy say it could be the battery?or my weight?I'm 120pd not even heavy enough,so wats the problem I'm facing here plz respond?or do I need2 change the panels to a bigger 1?
I prefer never speedy up more than 25km/h when the v10f indicates yellow bar (I think 35% battery or less), when yellow light appears to me the fun must end n time to go home to charge, that's a way of safe I developed to myself! (Never got any problem). Always set my v10f for the 37km/h maximum speedy n 35% tilt/warning (10% less the top manufacturer speed) never set it over boosted through the app as well.
Nice video on cut-offs! Definitely some goods pointers there! Still waiting for my camera to make my video on the cut off I recently had lol. This does help give me ideas for it, thanks!

Great video. I just ordered my first EUC and I have been thinking about safety. This video has helped me understand what I need to look out for so I can still have a good time and be safe.
Thanks a lot for your great inf.
For me was very informed before getting involved. Thanks again and ride safe.
Thanks for this informative video.. As a new rider I'm soaking up and much info as I can to apply to my daily rides. I appreciate your breakdown.
Really useful video Adam. Cut offs are a lot clearer to me now. Thank you & Stay Safe! 🙏
Thank Rob! Stay safe too!
My starter wheel is arriving tomorrow, I have to learn this crucial information.
I’m a newbie and just got my first euc V8S. What you are explaining is the same as if you were riding a onewheel. Same exact rules apply.
Well said man! Thank you for caring for others. It may seem corny, but it's what people need to do for each other.
Thanks for making this and going into depth! Every EUC rider should understand these things.
Yes
Got a cutoff in gdansk with my nikola at 58kmh...result one arm broken. Never had such issue with my v10f (I miss the loud warning "please slow down"). Take care guys and thank you for this video !!! Good job.
Great video for E-riders and All devices. WELL DONE SIR!
should have watched this BEFORE I ate that delicious 30mph(48kph) pavement sandwich... -_- Great video! now I know.
*checks bank account to see if he can afford a faster wheel*
Excellent video as always 😊 the battery/motor/controller usage is what I have wanted explaining in simple terms for a while now. Cheers buddy
Thanks! Cheers 😊
I am just watching this video after your accident which caused by what you described here. Thanks God you are safe
Hard braking is a necessary option, not for laughs but to safely facilitate a fast stop when an unexpected need to stop happens.
Oh Boy you just put it right
Just had my first cutoff...
I wiped out at SEVEN MPH....LMAO
Good thing I was alone I'm a warehouse....
Now...if I go over 15mph on anything other than flat road I'm wearing full face helmet, minor armor jacket/pants, and hard plastic hands/elbows/knees if any crazier than that.
watching this after my first euc cut off
Me too lol. From the hospital (may have done something to my wrist).
Great video!!! 👍👍 from my experience on my msx 84volt I got a cut out trying to brake and then accelerate fast on a 70% battery flew off like superman going about 32mph. That was my first fall in 2 years
I just had the same thing happen on my 100v msx thought it was something wrong with the wheel but maybe I was pushing it to far.
Ive been riding EUC for 3 years now. Ride your EUC within limits, and the EUC will not face plant you. Think of your EUC as like a horse. Treat your horse well and your horse will treat you well.
thanks bro, these things would be too dangerous without a community
Good to know before driving my Airwheel X3.
Very helpful and detailed video, specially the incredibly “technical” drawings of how an EUC works in the beginning of the video! Hahaha
good thing about being 54 kg.. can race up a 30 degree hill at 50 kph on the 18XL with a headwind and max out at 1600W of power
A public utility video. Thank you WrongWay ! :)
Buy a charger that has settings for 80 and 90 or 100 %
very useful advice. thank you so much.
Awesome video! Thanks.
Thanks for a great list of tips from a beginner Tesla rider.
i like tilt back better on EUC than on Onewheel. 1. bc the sound for others to hear. 2. for continued tilt back instead of "eat shit and die" option and finally 3. for added trust when riding
Nr 6 & 7 are perfect for new riders - most people dont get "why they should start with a high performance EUC" :)
Great advice, I am upgrading to a faster wheel!
I just had a cut off with 62,8 (40%)
With my gotway msp 100v
Thanks god Everything is fine !!! 💪🙏
Thank you for this video I'm thinking about getting into this...I'm going for the KS18XL 😁
Goof rang and robust design?👍
Very much satisfied with the product .
Great video as always, it helps to all the riders to understand how prevent an accident!! What a beast!!!
Nice video Adam. Very informative. Keep it up 👍🏾
I don't think motorcycle gloves are as important as proper wrist guards.
Very USEFUL. Thanks
You are crazy driving EUC! 😈😷👍🏻
Great video
If youre going too fast, NEVER say
JESUS, TAKE THE WHEEL!!
Or this happens
Hey, never knew that. Thanks. Also I appreciate the drawings. Made my day.
Number 11, all the gear all the time, safety is sexy
Thank you for the information, your help is more than appreciated 🙏
Today while I was going with my inmotion, one of the cells dropped below 2.8v and suddenly the electricity was cut. bms cut the electricity
.it was actually communicating with the original bms controller in cases like this.
but since i burned the original bms i used a different bms
The controller did not understand this because there was no communication and the electricity was turned off.
Great job!!!
Thanks !!!
i had a cut off 2 week ago, was my fault, i forgot the battery percent was 10% and i acelerated my monster pro about 50 km, suddenly the monster cut off
i have scratches on my right arm, left elbow, right hip and fingers
As advice, I want to tell you
not to use open gloves or hand pads, i don now the real name, use gloves with touch screen fingers I damaged 5 of my fingers
when the cut off happened I had this protection: elbow pads, knee pads, open gloves, helmet
Thank you 👍
12. get better insurance, as if you fall down at above 50 km/h you'll probably not be able to work for a while, but you'll have to pay a lot to heirs of people smashed by your rolling EUC.
A useful app function would be to dial the unicycles performance by percentage of battery rather than just a top speed limit.
really good video Adam!
after a cut out my riding change! i feel lucky i made it out! also the Nikola.keep them coming👌🏻
EUC got regen braking? or they just power the weel the other way?
Great video man ,, this is very helpful.. I just ordered a Nikola plus , bt they shipped it locked was wonderful do you know how to unlock my unicycle
I don't understand.
Will it ever throw you off WITHOUT first warning with a beep?
Very good video thanks
Hello, man!
I want to learn how to cause an explosion by falling on my face. Could you add an animation of that?
thank adam you explication is very whel and necessary, talk to bonheur sur scene do it the samethig in french, he doesn,t care about security like you
I'm still gonna stack it bro but thanks for lookin out.
@@mr_wrongway thank you very much for such a fast reply!
This video is 2 years old but if you are seeing green in your on screen animations, look up how to adjust your despill to remove the green.
So basically escooters are better than euc un terms of safety
Hello Adam, where did you find your wrist mirror visible at 20min 39sec ?
Thanks
Nice video on cut-offs! Definitely some goods pointers there! Still waiting for my camera to make my video on the cut off I recently had lol. This does help give me ideas for it, thanks!
