This really is super helpful, thank you. I am currently in my 2nd season with AM. I just scraped the board expectations in S1, and now have to finish 6 or above. This, more focussed method of identifying deficiencies in my own car will really help me going forward.
Definitely will help. I found myself pointlessly doing front wings over and over and not getting better low speed. My suspension was the worst on the grid and I had no idea.

my only issue with games like this is what I call " you must win syndrome" even if you play the worse team they still expect you to win every dam race... i wish they would be more vigilant on how real expectation vs game expectation is a chasm of darkness.

Good info, for some reason the formula 1 manager in-game info on how most of it works is complete garbage. Game seems ok, but they assume you're super familiar with every aspect.

If you change the circuit it will show you which areas are crucial for the circuit. I should have mentioned this. I was just on Bahrain as that's default.
I had no idea that was there. How helpful! You know one thing I’ve been wondering is, let’s say you want to develop a front wing. The wing, during development on the LEFT side of the screen, has attributes and comparative rankings to others on the grid which are different from the attributes and rankings for the vehicle. so if you have a front wing that says 3rd on the grid on the LEFT side, does that mean it’s the third best front wing or your expertise is 3rd best?? That’s some thing I’ve been wondering a little bit. If you have any insight on this, I would so love to hear it.
Just got an question but everytime a new season starts on my save my car is back to crap again and I see people with the same team on TH-cam (Aston Martin) and the season after their first the car is so fast compared to mine so I was just wondering if there is a way to stop this.
is it advised to design specific parts for specific tracks/conditions? Like an ultra high speed rear wing for Monza? Or should I be focusing on getting everything on a good general level?
I tend to look at a cars strengths, of a lower one. Like Williams is really good high speed. So I make upgrades to increase that advantage. I feel track specific doesn't give enough general advantage
Idk what is happening, but the AlphaTauri livery in my new save is messed up. One of the sponsors are in the wrong place and not central. Not sure if there's a way to fix it

Target the ones with the biggest deficits. Taking into account time for development

It depends, really. I like to really play the long game and focus on the future.

How do you narrow down how many CFD/ wind tunnel hours you need to use? That’s what’s confusing me
You don't. Not as far as I know. It's a balance. How many upgrades do you want to spend hours on? Divide it up.
Can you give an idea on what to upgrade for McLaren straight off the bat?
