2018 and newer JL AND JLU run a variant axel setup. In the spicer Advantek series ranging from the M186 D30. M200 D35, M210 and M220 D44.

My son's Jeep at TH-cam channel Papa Surf Off-roading is a 2010 JKU Sport with 5.13s in a D30 front with 37" tires. 220K miles and no axle breaks.

Just my personal opinion. I wheel a lot. And have done so for many years. I hang with the like minded. This is my take on running the D30s and D44s on 37s You can do it and there is nothing wrong with it. However there are several week points that need to be addressed. At least should be. I think where you really start to run into issues once you beef up everything in that stock housing is the ring and pinion. That pinion gets really small especially if you go into 5.38 gears. That is a serious weak point. Yes you can do it but your still risking it. One good bind up and that R&P is likely going to go. There are also other factors. Like how heavy your lead foot is. When I went to 37s from 35s I considered my axles. At the time I had a spicer 60 in the rear and a spicer 44 widened upfront. Long story how I ended up with that setup so ill spare you the details. What I considered was the ring and pinion as a 5.38 on that front 44. Did not want to risk it and put the spicer 60 up front. Yes 60s are costly. upwards of 20k or more for a crate axle set and going the junkyard swap may not be ideal once thats all built up. There are some deals out there every now and then. No doubt it is a big expense to do dana 60s on a jeep. So many other parts need to me changed or modified. On the bright side you gain significant amount of low end weight. A built Dana 60 is incredibly heavy next to a 44 or 30. Like I was saying. You can do it. Many have with little issue but I have seen that R&P go in a few built up 30s and 44s with 5.13 or 5.38s. If you can do the 60 swap just do it.

That all makes great sense! I wish we could afford to go to the 60, but it's not in the cards for us right now as we've got MANY other things that are taking our money at this point. Maybe someday! For now, we'll try to keep our foot out of the pedal and see how far we can push it. Replacing R&P is a pain in the butt, but it's still far less expensive than swapping axles. Thanks for following along!

My jl sport 2 door has the M210 up front and the M220 in the back with full independent selectible lockers, lol. I must admit i stuck them on. Next will be rcv shafts with fad delete, trusses, gussets, rebuildable ball joints, steel knuckes, chromeoly rear axle shafts, and maybe an uograded ox locker with 4:88s. Lol. Ill fib and tell everybody it came factory like that.

@RumpShaker_JKU there is nothing wrong with it. All I am saying is there is alot of misinformation out there because of social media. Everyone wants to be an influencer but they don't have the knowledge and experience to provide accurate information.

We definitely don't consider ourselves experts, and we owned the mistake because we don't want to be out here giving others bad information. We learned a lot through all of this. We will be more diligent in our research in the future, but at the end of the day, we don't consider our channel one that is educational or driven by How To's. We're just here to have fun and hopefully entertain some people along the way. Thanks for taking the time to comment! I hope you'll follow along.
