I was so shook that the guy who plays Sportacus is also the producer/director so I went and looked him up. He’s some sort of aerobics champion and this entire show is based on him writing a book for parents to show them how to raise healthy kids.
I’m shocked you didn’t even touch on the fact that Stephanie, Robbie, and Sportacus are the only real humans, despite the puppets being human-sized and interacting directly with the actors.
The thing that I found weirdest as a kid was how the brother/sister of either the mayor or his wife managed to birth a regular human. I think that's why Stephanie has pink hair. No human genetics could ever give you that!
The overall costume design and set design for this show is a delight. You can tell it's not your typical cheaply made children's show by simply looking at it. I loved Lazy Town as a kid and I think it holds up!

I used to watch this show a lot back in college 😂 sounds stupid but sometimes you just need some light hearted fun when your stressed out by exams 24/7. it’s so silly but you can really tell how much love and care is put into it, and Spartacus and Robbie are honestly hilarious! The show actually had a pretty decently sized fandom back in 2018 on tumblr, the rabbit hole runs pretty deep. Funnily enough I did actually start eating healthier and exercising more after watching it so I suppose it was effective too!

Me too. This show is actually a large part of the reason I was fit as a kid even though I never played any sports. I'd do the exercises along with the TV and follow the healthy foods they ate. Even now I find joy in exercising and eating healthy and I'm so thankful for this show
Lazy Town was actually made by the director because he noticed a growing obesity problem in youth and wanted to encourage kids to go outside and have fun
One of the nice things about LazyTown is that it never completely demonized video games, sweets, etc. There were scenes where the characters would take a break from sports to play their games, and of course there was the episode where they all happily baked a decadent birthday cake for Bessie. They just wanted kids to balance those things out with healthy food and active play. Well, except for Sportacus's sugar meltdowns. Those kind of muddied the message.

This show made perfect sense to me as a child. What Alex said about Sportacus living in an airship (“why wouldn’t he?”) is pretty much exactly what I thought. I was just like, “there is a superhero living in an airship above the town? That checks out, where else would he live?” At no point did I ever question it, nor the flips.
Lazy town was recorded in my town in Iceland Garðabær and the actor who played Robbie Rotten (Stefán Karl) was a regular at my grandmas shop and almost daily ordered strawberry shakes! We all miss him truly a gem

Spartacus is the only part of the show that has been ingrained into my mind. Whenever I think of LazyTown I picture him just doing flips everywhere because that’s all I could remember. I also thought that Stephanie had a massive crush on him when I was watching the show (although the last time I watched it was when I was four so I don’t exactly remember if she did or not lol ).
The best part about Lazy Town that set it apart from ALL the other "eat right and exercise" shows is that it didn't vilify videogames, candy, napping, or even being a little lazy... None of Stephanie's friends had to give up what they loved to do, they just had to do other things as well... and yes... Sometimes the solution to an episode WAS videogames, candy, or napping. . Any other show and Candy would probably be the living embodiment of evil.
True, although the TV show has a bit more of a liberal tone than the plays. Ziggy for example, had his candy consumption regulated by Sportacus' plans, and Glanni secretly shoved him candy when he tried to indoctrinate everyone into his fascist regime.
I remember there is one episode where Robbie acts as Sportacus imposter who sabotage an apple filled with candy so that the real Sportacus eats it, he just drop like Snow White...but instead of true loves kiss to wake him up, I think they just shove a carrot or celery in his mouth.

i think it’s funny people don’t get robbie being a hardworking guy is a metaphor of how everyone has potential to work hard and achieve what they want but choose to stay lazy
Yeah..like Playing video games is not a lazy thing to do, But it's waste of time and outdoor activities can be so much entertaining than the life-draining video games. So it's not "Ironic" at all. The intentions behind hardwork and Passion should be good and something useful to the community too .
Did you know that almost all the Robbie Rotten memes helped raise money to pay for Robbie Rotten's actor's cancer treatments and hospital stays? He was eternally grateful for that.
What I always found funny about Robbie Rotten was he worked SO hard to be lazy. He did more work trying to keep other people lazy than he did actually being lazy.
It is oxymoronic that Robbie could be so lazy when he could throw a bunch of junk on the floor, beat on it for 7 and a half seconds with a hammer, then he would present you with a large complex piece of machinery. But it was also that same thing which made the show, and Robbie, so enjoyable and fun to watch. Again, how do you call a dude who climbs up the inside of a pipe 120 feet everyday, lazy?
I love reading all these comments about how much they loved Robbie, the actor was truly an amazing dude and the world is a little bit more dark without him. But it was amazing to see so many people come together in order to help pay for his cancer treatment
RIP to Robbie Rotten. He passed away a few years ago after losing his cancer battle. My little sister loved this show and we were both sad to hear that he had passed.
I remember when I used to watch this and my mom would always ask me how Robbie Rotten is supposed to be the laziest person in town when he bakes a cake(himself) every single episode, not to mention all the effort he puts into stopping sportacus, and making everybody lazy again.

I always felt a bit sad for the actor of Sportacus. I always thought someone being this hyped must hate his role and making himself a fool on TV. Like he doesn't want to be like that, but fakes it because the script says so. But him being the creator and director explains so much. Now I'm happy for him that this enthusiasm wasn't fake and he enjoyed his own creation.
So, I watched Lazy Town, it was one of my favorite shows, and I think the thing about WHY Robbie didn't want the kids playing outside was that the dude lives under the town, imagine if your upstairs neighbor was running around, doing backflips, and making horrible noises all day. He just wanted some peace and quiet, and as someone who is really introverted and has sensory processing issues, I get that. I think it was also a recurring thing that Robbie didn't ACTUALLY dislike anyone, and often wanted to be included, but lacked the social skills to ask.
It's even been confirmed that Robbie's main problem is that he's bitter about being excluded, and that he actually wants to be accepted. He also repeatedly complains when people are being noisy because he literally hears them, and they wake him up. He's the most relatable guy.
I remember one episode of Lazy Town that truly scared me when I was a kid. It was the episode of when Stephanie’s muscles were stiff because she wasn’t training. After that day I was scared to not spend a day without sport activity.

I used to watch it on Channel 5 sometimes. I do remember enjoying it. I’m honestly surprised so many people remember this odd little show with such fondness.
best part is that Sportacus is literally a self insert character of the creator. fun fact: the show actually started out as a touring musical. And Stefan Karl Stefansson will always be our number one. Rest in Power, you legend.
It started out with an Icelandic kids book in 1991, called Afram Latibaer. And Sportacus created himself, and Sportacus' actor is the creator of the franchise.
Also, I just remembered that there is an episode where the town tried to be the most active town there is and Robbie tried to sabotage it. He ends up moving so much when he thinks they lost, that he actually pushes the meter all the way to the top and make them the most active town. Felt like the creators sort of acknowledged how active Robbie really is when trying to stop others from being active.
I have always found it weird how everytime sportacus' crystal beeps and "someones in trouble", that he automatically knows where they'll be. As if the entire town is the size of a small crate and is easy to locate whos in trouble, and in which part of LT to flip to. I also find it odd how (whenever Robbie uses his periscope to spy on the kids of LazyTown), that his periscope can appear outside the window of the school, the kids houses, the streets, the playground and well, anywhere like it can travel about the town while Robbie always stays in his fixed position in his lair and looking upward ...
Stefan Stefansson was so iconic as Robbie Rotten. He owned every scene he was in and it always got a laugh out of me as a kid. I miss him so 😔 Edit: Thanks for all the likes, folks!
Because of this show as a kid I had a daily food diary where I ate mostly plant meals (soups, salads, stir fry that I forced my mom to cook) like Sporticus suggested in one episode, and I was inspired to work out because of him. There I was a 10 year old working out to my mom's Cindy Crawford 90's work out tapes. So the show definitely hit hard with its healthy lifestyle message.
I mean, it was thanks to Sportacus that I started practicing gymnastics... This show might be a little weird now that you watch it through adult eyes, but watching it as a kid, it makes a big impact
I grew up watching Lazytown. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but there was always a weird vibe to that show even watching it as a kid. Almost like an Uncanny Valley effect, they never felt quite human, even the actual human characters.
I think the point was to be larger than life and cartoon vibes but not animated. It could have worked as a cartoon, but then again the characters are all so iconic as they are
Fun fact: Stefán Stefánsson (Robbie Rotten) voiced the playable hero character Berserker in the video game For Honor. When he passed away, the devs created a winning animation for the character where the Berserker points a single finger to the sky, turns to stone, and a beam of light shines down. In honor of him for being “Number 1”.
Honestly even as a kid I thought this show was weird as hell even by kid show standards but I still kept coming back to it without even knowing fully why but I guess in retrospect I just became entranced by how over the top weird and unique it was

Without going into detail, I didn’t have a great childhood. Stepdad was an alcoholic and things like that. This caused to me not have a great home life and I now don’t remember anything from before like 11. This show however, is one of my fondest memories from my childhood. I just wanted to share this to see if any of you guys have memories about the show like this.
I believe the reason for why everything looked a little weird was the creator wanted it to be a show that could be watched in any time period. So instead of it being stuck in the past, it wouldn’t match any time at all.

I can’t help but wonder why they did a UK dub anyway… US English and UK English are not very different at all. Maybe it was so it’d sound more “familiar” to UK kids or something Edit: looked up the dub on The Dubbing Database. It says that the UK dub was done so the different pronunciations of certain words weren’t confusing for children. Interesting. Suppose it makes sense for a show aimed at younger kids. The latest vide of Juliana Rose was in a video with Chloe in 2017 to raise awareness for Stefan’s treatment, she still looked the same and you could still tell it was her years later… (Even her voice sounded almost similar..) If Chloe at an older age can dress as Stephanie on occasion, so can Juliana again, (unfortunately she probably never will as she’s a lot older and seems like she keeps to herself and was never really out there after she left the show years ago, unlike Chloe), but honestly it would be really cool for her and Chloe to dress as her for a video, but because she’s not really out there, I doubt it, still nice Chloe keeps the character going in her shoes at least, even if the character is younger, Honestly I don’t get why they just couldn’t age the character as the show progressed, like, Chloe proved outside the show the character is the same even if she herself is older, now playing her, so Julianna quitting the role because she was older would of actually worked out if they aged the character as the show went on… It really could of worked and she could of stayed without Chloe replacing her, (Chloe is great, but Julianna made the character who she was), I mean Robbie and Sporticus’ actors got older, but they stayed as the same characters the entire show and weren’t replaced… (And in the original 1996 play the actress for Stephanie was a lot older too, so aging the character so Juliana could play the role longer would of made a lot more sense honestly… )
God bless Stefán Karl Stefánsson. I never watched the show until around his passing, but seeing him outside of the show, and how well he acted in the show, he truly was and will remain number one.

Oh man, this show holds a special place in my heart. I realized I didnt remember the plot at all, just the characters, and it also took me way to long to question why there was only three real people in it. 4 year old me just accepted that the town was inhabited by weirdly disproportional stylized puppets. Also I'm pretty sure Sportacus was my first fictional crush as far as what kids of that age can have. Pls tell me wasnt alone I'm desperate
I’m Icelandic and use to watch this show all the time (and even went to the set where it was filmed or a museum of some sorts when I was in kindergarten, I even saw the puppets and They’re even more creepy in real life). I loved the show, and when the actor who played Robbie (or Glani Glæpur) died, Me and my sisters that use to watch it together were devastated. This video was so fun to watch! (even though the Icelandic accent that sportacus speaks in nearly killed me 😂 it’s so bad!)

Before it was a tv show, they actually made two musicals (Go, Lazytown and Robbie Rotten in Lazytown) that introduce all the character. There are some characters in the musicals that are not in the tv show. Also a fun fact: they all have last names in the icelandic versions
I remember all the weird, dark theories about what's really going on in the world of Lazy Town... - How there is a real super-villain (Ms. Busybody) and that's she's actually a witch who's hundreds or thousands of years old (because of the paintings of herself, in her home, that are all from different time periods)... - Or how Robbie Rotten was "Superhero #1", but he got brainwashed into becoming a lazy super-villain. Also that Sportacus totally knows who Robbie really is, but can't do anything about it, so he just plays along... and that explains why all the other super-villains (off-screen) are all secretly making fun of Robbie... - How everyone being a puppet and everything becoming puppet-like is actually a plague that's spreading and Stephanie has some sort of immunity. Meanwhile, super-heroes are only capable of slowing down the disease, which is why Sportacus and Robbie only have tiny bits of themselves that have turned into plastic. - How there was an apocalyptic event (probably the "Puppet curse") that killed off most of the population and wiped out most super-heroes, which forced people to regroup into those weird little towns - How "Hero #9" (mentioned in the the 1st episode) was killed by Ms Busybody when he came to Lazy Town... Those theories were really fun to play with.
Theories aren't as fun when you have the actual dark truth of Lazytown. Sportacus was a child slave who worked in the mines owned by a man named Mr. Kicker.

The video didn't even start and I already know this guy didn't have a childhood, this is the best show we could watch when we were kids, this guy probably watched cocomelon his entire life, he doesn't know how Lazy Town was to us, it wasn't a weird show, it was my childhood, and everyone else's childhood. Anyway, this dude is funny but I agree that he has bad takes sometimes. Like, the newest season of Stranger Things was iconic and he thought it was dumb. I always wondered what Sportacus would do if he ever get injured or just old. Because to do absolutly ANYTHING in his zepelin you have to do some sort of exercise: You have to do a backflip to open the fridge, a handstand to open the part of the zeppelin where the bed is located, pushups to get to the bathroom, etc. This show is insane! :D

The design of the show was to get kids to exercise and dance during the episode. Usually Stephani did some sort of aerobics. This was very present in the first season. later it became more about bettering yourself and dancing. RIP Robbie Rotten.
I was an adult when the show came out but immediately fell in love with the weirdness. The music is iconic. It’s really fun as hell. Man the colors are just on point. And uh puppets... yeah they were nightmare fuel.
As a kid, I remember finding Sportacus super darn cool because of his flips and high-tech airship. Really made me wanna jump out of bed and eat an apple. Think he was my first role model, and Stephanie my first crush.
The fact that this show was from ICELAND of all places really surprised me when I first found this out (I have been there and it’s a nice place though it is quite cold there and don’t worry about not knowing Icelandic all the locals thankfully know English) especially since nothing else from Iceland has gotten this amount of exposure in the world. I watched this show as a kid but I admit this show never made me more active and I believe I missed the whole point of the show overall as a kid.

I'm a older 70's/80's guy, and ran across this show on a PBS station while surfing channels, it caught my eye because of the crazy looking puppets. I thought it was a weird but good idea trying to get kids active, but definitely an odd cartoonish show. 🤔 Sorry to hear about to hear about "Robbie", he was waaay too young to go out like that. 😢

This show was great, and one of my favorites growing up, but I still have many lingering questions about the shows lore! Specifically Sportacus! The Mayor mentioned that a hero sporting a number 9 use to be in Lazytown years ago! Stephanie shot that mail up to Sportacus’ airship with Robbie begging for her not to do so. When Sportacus showed up for the first time Robbie seen him and said “there’s another one”. These remarks by Robbie leads me to believe there obviously were other heroes patrolling lazytown and Robbie had past encounters with them, which is why he said “another one” and was beggin Stephanie to not seen her mail up to the airship. Also Who really is Sportacus??? Where does he come from??? What’s his origin story??? Who was the number 1-9 before 10 (Sportacus). Where did Sportacus get his airship?? Where does Sportacus get all his gadgets from??? What does Sportacus do for money in order to pay for these gadgets ??? And Sportacus sometimes even pulls gadgets out of thin air. Taking this into account, I think Sportacus might actually be Batman. Its like Batman took a break from Gotham, faked his death, changed his identity and moved to Lazytown to live out the rest of his days in peace instead of dealing with the psychos in Gotham. The mysterious presence ,The airship, the gadgets, the crystal on his chest working like the bat-signal alerting Sportacus of impending danger!! Sportacus might actually be Batman. I know it’s just a mid 2000s kids show, but by gawd is it making me think way to much 😂😂😂

I was so shook that the guy who plays Sportacus is also the producer/director so I went and looked him up. He’s some sort of aerobics champion and this entire show is based on him writing a book for parents to show them how to raise healthy kids.

The overall costume design and set design for this show is a delight. You can tell it's not your typical cheaply made children's show by simply looking at it. I loved Lazy Town as a kid and I think it holds up!

I used to watch this show a lot back in college 😂 sounds stupid but sometimes you just need some light hearted fun when your stressed out by exams 24/7. it’s so silly but you can really tell how much love and care is put into it, and Spartacus and Robbie are honestly hilarious! The show actually had a pretty decently sized fandom back in 2018 on tumblr, the rabbit hole runs pretty deep. Funnily enough I did actually start eating healthier and exercising more after watching it so I suppose it was effective too!

Me too. This show is actually a large part of the reason I was fit as a kid even though I never played any sports. I'd do the exercises along with the TV and follow the healthy foods they ate. Even now I find joy in exercising and eating healthy and I'm so thankful for this show

One of the nice things about LazyTown is that it never completely demonized video games, sweets, etc. There were scenes where the characters would take a break from sports to play their games, and of course there was the episode where they all happily baked a decadent birthday cake for Bessie. They just wanted kids to balance those things out with healthy food and active play.
Well, except for Sportacus's sugar meltdowns. Those kind of muddied the message.

This show made perfect sense to me as a child. What Alex said about Sportacus living in an airship (“why wouldn’t he?”) is pretty much exactly what I thought. I was just like, “there is a superhero living in an airship above the town? That checks out, where else would he live?” At no point did I ever question it, nor the flips.
I mean, it still makes sense that he would live there. Makes more sense than in the play, where he lives in a tiny hot air balloon.

So, I watched Lazy Town, it was one of my favorite shows, and I think the thing about WHY Robbie didn't want the kids playing outside was that the dude lives under the town, imagine if your upstairs neighbor was running around, doing backflips, and making horrible noises all day. He just wanted some peace and quiet, and as someone who is really introverted and has sensory processing issues, I get that. I think it was also a recurring thing that Robbie didn't ACTUALLY dislike anyone, and often wanted to be included, but lacked the social skills to ask.
It's even been confirmed that Robbie's main problem is that he's bitter about being excluded, and that he actually wants to be accepted. He also repeatedly complains when people are being noisy because he literally hears them, and they wake him up.
He's the most relatable guy.

I have always found it weird how everytime sportacus' crystal beeps and "someones in trouble", that he automatically knows where they'll be. As if the entire town is the size of a small crate and is easy to locate whos in trouble, and in which part of LT to flip to. I also find it odd how (whenever Robbie uses his periscope to spy on the kids of LazyTown), that his periscope can appear outside the window of the school, the kids houses, the streets, the playground and well, anywhere like it can travel about the town while Robbie always stays in his fixed position in his lair and looking upward ...

Because of this show as a kid I had a daily food diary where I ate mostly plant meals (soups, salads, stir fry that I forced my mom to cook) like Sporticus suggested in one episode, and I was inspired to work out because of him.
There I was a 10 year old working out to my mom's Cindy Crawford 90's work out tapes.
So the show definitely hit hard with its healthy lifestyle message.

I grew up watching Lazytown. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but there was always a weird vibe to that show even watching it as a kid. Almost like an Uncanny Valley effect, they never felt quite human, even the actual human characters.
I think the point was to be larger than life and cartoon vibes but not animated. It could have worked as a cartoon, but then again the characters are all so iconic as they are

I believe the reason for why everything looked a little weird was the creator wanted it to be a show that could be watched in any time period. So instead of it being stuck in the past, it wouldn’t match any time at all.

Not only that but many episodes were about being healthy in general and being good people, it was really nice to watch
and it heavily encouraged kids to eat healthy. I remember that (at least in my language) Sportacus called apples "sport candy" and frequently talked about how good it is to consume fruit and vegetables

Edit: looked up the dub on The Dubbing Database. It says that the UK dub was done so the different pronunciations of certain words weren’t confusing for children. Interesting. Suppose it makes sense for a show aimed at younger kids. Though they only dubbed over the puppet guys’ dialogue…

I loved Lazy own. The young woman who played Stephanie was very talented and she grew up to be an occupational therapist.

The latest vide of Juliana Rose was in a video with Chloe in 2017 to raise awareness for Stefan’s treatment, she still looked the same and you could still tell it was her years later… (Even her voice sounded almost similar..)
If Chloe at an older age can dress as Stephanie on occasion, so can Juliana again, (unfortunately she probably never will as she’s a lot older and seems like she keeps to herself and was never really out there after she left the show years ago, unlike Chloe), but honestly it would be really cool for her and Chloe to dress as her for a video, but because she’s not really out there, I doubt it, still nice Chloe keeps the character going in her shoes at least, even if the character is younger, Honestly I don’t get why they just couldn’t age the character as the show progressed, like, Chloe proved outside the show the character is the same even if she herself is older, now playing her, so Julianna quitting the role because she was older would of actually worked out if they aged the character as the show went on… It really could of worked and she could of stayed without Chloe replacing her, (Chloe is great, but Julianna made the character who she was), I mean Robbie and Sporticus’ actors got older, but they stayed as the same characters the entire show and weren’t replaced…
(And in the original 1996 play the actress for Stephanie was a lot older too, so aging the character so Juliana could play the role longer would of made a lot more sense honestly… )

Oh man, this show holds a special place in my heart. I realized I didnt remember the plot at all, just the characters, and it also took me way to long to question why there was only three real people in it. 4 year old me just accepted that the town was inhabited by weirdly disproportional stylized puppets.

I’m Icelandic and use to watch this show all the time (and even went to the set where it was filmed or a museum of some sorts when I was in kindergarten, I even saw the puppets and They’re even more creepy in real life). I loved the show, and when the actor who played Robbie (or Glani Glæpur) died, Me and my sisters that use to watch it together were devastated. This video was so fun to watch! (even though the Icelandic accent that sportacus speaks in nearly killed me 😂 it’s so bad!)

Before it was a tv show, they actually made two musicals (Go, Lazytown and Robbie Rotten in Lazytown) that introduce all the character. There are some characters in the musicals that are not in the tv show. Also a fun fact: they all have last names in the icelandic versions
I remember all the weird, dark theories about what's really going on in the world of Lazy Town...
- How there is a real super-villain (Ms. Busybody) and that's she's actually a witch who's hundreds or thousands of years old (because of the paintings of herself, in her home, that are all from different time periods)...
- Or how Robbie Rotten was "Superhero #1", but he got brainwashed into becoming a lazy super-villain. Also that Sportacus totally knows who Robbie really is, but can't do anything about it, so he just plays along... and that explains why all the other super-villains (off-screen) are all secretly making fun of Robbie...
- How everyone being a puppet and everything becoming puppet-like is actually a plague that's spreading and Stephanie has some sort of immunity. Meanwhile, super-heroes are only capable of slowing down the disease, which is why Sportacus and Robbie only have tiny bits of themselves that have turned into plastic.
- How there was an apocalyptic event (probably the "Puppet curse") that killed off most of the population and wiped out most super-heroes, which forced people to regroup into those weird little towns
- How "Hero #9" (mentioned in the the 1st episode) was killed by Ms Busybody when he came to Lazy Town...
Those theories were really fun to play with.

I always wondered what Sportacus would do if he ever get injured or just old. Because to do absolutly ANYTHING in his zepelin you have to do some sort of exercise: You have to do a backflip to open the fridge, a handstand to open the part of the zeppelin where the bed is located, pushups to get to the bathroom, etc. This show is insane! :D

Always reminding us that exercise is important
The design of the show was to get kids to exercise and dance during the episode. Usually Stephani did some sort of aerobics. This was very present in the first season. later it became more about bettering yourself and dancing. RIP Robbie Rotten.
I was an adult when the show came out but immediately fell in love with the weirdness. The music is iconic. It’s really fun as hell. Man the colors are just on point. And uh puppets... yeah they were nightmare fuel.
About as much as the puppets in the Genesis "Land of Confusion" video.

As a kid, I remember finding Sportacus super darn cool because of his flips and high-tech airship. Really made me wanna jump out of bed and eat an apple. Think he was my first role model, and Stephanie my first crush.

The fact that this show was from ICELAND of all places really surprised me when I first found this out (I have been there and it’s a nice place though it is quite cold there and don’t worry about not knowing Icelandic all the locals thankfully know English) especially since nothing else from Iceland has gotten this amount of exposure in the world. I watched this show as a kid but I admit this show never made me more active and I believe I missed the whole point of the show overall as a kid.
Same here, never knew Icelandic, and I too missed the whole point of the show of being more active as a kid, as I'm now obese 😔 Was still a fun show nonetheless, it aged like fine wine.
Did you know the actor who played Robbie didn't even know how to speak english when the show began, he actually learned the language during filming.
When I was a kid, I thought that the show was American and that Stephanie was Asian, plus her pink hair was a reference to Japanese manga. Whenever I heard about the Roman slave Spartacus, who started an uprising, all I could think about was Sportacus. I was pretty confused back then.
As a nocturnal, anti-social grotto dweller myself I can relate to Robbie. I too want people to be lazy to lower the gross national product.
Robbie rotten is the personification the the Ron Swanson quote "Normally, if given the choice between doing something and nothing, I’d choose to do nothing. But I will do something if it helps someone else do nothing. I’d work all night, if it meant nothing got done"
As a person in college, being a full-time law student and working a real adult job, I unironically love this show 😭 the characters are genuinely so much fun

I'm a older 70's/80's guy, and ran across this show on a PBS station while surfing channels, it caught my eye because of the crazy looking puppets. I thought it was a weird but good idea trying to get kids active, but definitely an odd cartoonish show. 🤔 Sorry to hear about to hear about "Robbie", he was waaay too young to go out like that. 😢

when i was 16 i used to watch this show unironically [around the time the memes were a thing] and enjoyed it, it was very funny and well written for being a kids show

This show was great, and one of my favorites growing up, but I still have many lingering questions about the shows lore! Specifically Sportacus!
The Mayor mentioned that a hero sporting a number 9 use to be in Lazytown years ago! Stephanie shot that mail up to Sportacus’ airship with Robbie begging for her not to do so. When Sportacus showed up for the first time Robbie seen him and said “there’s another one”.
These remarks by Robbie leads me to believe there obviously were other heroes patrolling lazytown and Robbie had past encounters with them, which is why he said “another one” and was beggin Stephanie to not seen her mail up to the airship.
Also Who really is Sportacus??? Where does he come from??? What’s his origin story??? Who was the number 1-9 before 10 (Sportacus). Where did Sportacus get his airship?? Where does Sportacus get all his gadgets from??? What does Sportacus do for money in order to pay for these gadgets ??? And Sportacus sometimes even pulls gadgets out of thin air.
Taking this into account, I think Sportacus might actually be Batman. Its like Batman took a break from Gotham, faked his death, changed his identity and moved to Lazytown to live out the rest of his days in peace instead of dealing with the psychos in Gotham. The mysterious presence ,The airship, the gadgets, the crystal on his chest working like the bat-signal alerting Sportacus of impending danger!! Sportacus might actually be Batman.
I know it’s just a mid 2000s kids show, but by gawd is it making me think way to much 😂😂😂
