I just want to thank whoever did Chat Noir's sound design. I loved hearing his little bell jingle when he moved. It was so well thought out and executed so nicely. It wasnt too loud to take away from the scene and just made the movie more realistic.
15:15 Marinette asking Adrien out as a normal person without uttering 16 times in one sentence and tripping gives satisfaction after all these painful years 😭
Well, you have to understand that the reason we all hate Ladybug nowadays is because the creator ruined the show and kept sucking his own dick and forcing us to watch (metaphorically, of course).
Two things: - While not mentioned in the movie, the show mentions that the Kwamis' power is why nobody can recognize them. - The reason Ladybug is a bit more confident when she first speaks to Cat Noir and the reason Cat Noir is bullying her is because a part of their Kwamis' personality merges with theirs when they enter their super hero form. When Adrien uses Plagg to turn into Cat Noir, he takes on Plagg's carefree and slightly rude personality, while Marinette takes on part of Tikki's self-confident personality.
@@sirmel11 I think that the movie isn't super strong because you need to watch the show to understand the movie, the point of the movie was to restart the story, so why does it rely so heavily on context from the show?
I thought it was because when Marinette and Adrien transform, the Kwamis help bring out their "true personality" since Marinette is very shy and clumsy, making her as Ladybug confident and secure. And for Adrien is kind of quiet and obedient, him as Chat Noir is more wild and rebellious/confident. But I do like the concept that the Kwamis' personalities merge with the miraculous holder. But if that were the case then that would mean Gabriel Agrests' Kwami Nuru would be a bit vindictive, or be enhanced by Gabriel's already dark personality.
Ikr. I see nobody in the comment section appreciating the gorgeous animation in this movie. Like, slander the movie all you want (I loved it, though it did have its flaws) but at least appreciate that it’s better than the show and the animation is pretty. Like come on!
Miraculous is like the longest "Will they won't they" I have ever seen in a story and can't believe it still managed to keep people in for 8 years. Edit: thank you MinecrafBreadlmao
There's a Dutch police show running since 2007(and still going). I stopped watching some time ago, but I was at season 9 and they still weren't together despite having kissed, she admitted to loving him, they even had sex, it's literally there(The actress even said that they have got so used to each other they can almost read each other's mind). It's at their 18th season at the moment I think and I wouldn't be surprised if they still weren't together.
Gotta love how movie Hawk Moth overpowers both heroes so effortlessly, with just his ONE miraculous, not needing to pull any “Mandarin & the 10 rings” shenanigans to do it. Just straight up gives himself flight, telekinesis, an army of moths, and for good measure, the ability to turn water into lava.
I honestly love the relationship between Marinette and Adrien in the movie. It was so much more satisfying to seeing them in their hero costumes banter at first
I AGREE MUCH. I've waited YEARS for them both to be in an actual healthy relationship but is very disappointed with the show. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER in this movie, despite her voice is having some problems. And some awkward moments -
Honestly, I loved Ladybug and Chat Noir’s relationship. We barely saw Marinette and Adrien be together without the costumes. I get why, it is called Ladybug and Chat Noir: The Movie. But still, it would’ve been nice to see them together more and fall for each other as themselves without the costume and Adrien falling for her as well and not just her as Ladybug.

@@lawreb91 I just looked into it, and apparently so! It’s also a symbol of new beginnings in Europe, so I guess that explains it being set in Paris as well.
The movie was honestly good, what really bothered me is how much the singers didn't sound like the voice actors themselves. Christina Vee can sing too! and has in the past for Marinette's songs :/ All in all the visuals of this movie were stunning and the relationship between Adrien and Marinette seemed better than the show
As much as it sounds odd to hear Lou's voice in contrast to Cristina's, I think it was the right thing to do. Bc it seems like they meant for the soundtrack to sound more "professional " so people can enjoy listening to them independently. And also it looks like they made the songs specifically for Lou to sing. Cristina wouldn't have got the right tone as her
Bro all movie's do it hell look at OP film Red they cast a singer to sing for UTA called ADO & I doubt I saw JP and Western fans crying over the JP VA not singing idk why this fandom is the only one who can't accept another person singing for a character
As someone who grew up with the show and is now an adult. I wouldn't have liked it if they had tried aging it up. To me it feels more like a love letter both to the original concept of the show, and to us fans (or recently ex fans in my case) who it has made suffer for 8 years and 5 seasons. There were so many little details that made my heart want to explode, like how ladybug was the first one to call chat her partner after he called himself her sidekick. (And then immediately followed it up with the theme song remixed as a duet) This movie gave us everything we needed to fill the voids left by the show
I loved how they added the very old theme song into it. My sister is 7 and she doesn't even know that song... This movie was amazimg, I knew it would have been better that Jeremy Zag was directing it
I liked the movie I Just felt the last fight was rushed. I also think that they should have finished the series sooner. It was really good in the beginning but I feel like it’s getting out of hand and is so stupidly predictable.
@fennecfrogsstudios definitely. They could have wrapped up hawkmoth in two seasons. Three Max. But instead they stretched it out way to far to the point where most people got tired of it. %90 of good writing (or any art form really) is knowing when to stop. Knowing when you have pushed the plot as far as you can and the characters have learned all their lessons. If you keep going past that point, then you just end up repeating things
I thought so too. And I thought it really fit his character and their dynamic. Most of all when you look at Ladynoir in seasons 1 and 2. It was kinda like this.
Fun fact: it's not actually a reboot, it's a alternate universe type movie. The official series still has 2 confirmed unreleased seasons and will be sticking to the original plot :)
@@CuriouslyCute Anime does this all the time, adapting an entire season into a movie with higher quality of animation and varying degrees of changes, sometimes altering the plot slightly and adding new characters. They are almost never canon but meant for introducing the series to a wider audience.
My 4yo loves Ladybug so she was super excited to watch a new movie, but the confused and horrified look she gave me when Hawkmoth started singing pretty much summed up how we felt about the songs 😂
It’s still better than the show. The movie took an hour and a half to give us the reveal that 5 seasons couldn’t. It’s a shame they ruined Plagg, had too many songs and they wouldn’t let Marinette’s Va sing.
In defense of it, and as a fan of more than 7 years, the reveal happening any time soon doesn't make sense. The characters are nowhere near ready for it, and besides, I think more than half of the fans are glad it hasn't happened yet. The last thing we want for something as big and awaited as THE REVEAL to be rushed and not meet our expectations.
I've been waiting for 3 years for this movie this was the best hough I agree it was wire for singing as marinette sounded completely different Def through me of
The movie was obviously made as an apology to the fandom (rightfully so) and tried to fix the problems with the show, idk why Thomas didn't have this kind of approach from the beginning. It would've made the show even more famous and likeable. Movie >>>>> show with 5 seasons Edit : Jeremy's vision for the series would've been better, the movie being proof. What is up with the weird fans defending the series in my replies, y'all it's not that serious 😭? If you like the show, it's fine. No need to drag others down bc they liked the movie better??
....Wait so, they are rebooting this mess?? I am okay with this since from i have skimed and read it was pretty bad and the finale kinda kills all future stories.
I agree with alex, i think they should have taken some more core aspects of the show and aged it up, as the majority of the fan base is teens and adults, and made a new, 2d animated show (to differentiate more from the original)
It’d be weird to make a new show when the current show is still airing, wouldn’t it? It’d be like running TMNT 2012 and Rise of the TMNT simultaneously.
to be fair, i like the fact that its light hearted. I have seen so many shows go "this is for adult therefore we must make in sad and dramatic" You know the ones, Riverdale, Velma, the winx movie... Making it "for kids" is the whole reason why i watch these shows. There will be no sex, the drama will mostly be stupid (marinette not wanted to go to a party because her ex is there ...) everyone will be happy at the end. Sure it's a bit goofy but that why i watch them. I don't want to think how much life sucks and horrible. Plus colors ! About the 2D, i think it would be too expensive and not really """"""follow the style""""""" that the show was built on.
11:57 if you think about it...In many Chinese legends and stories, the ladybug symbolizes good luck, while the black cat symbolizes bad luck, which hints to us why they were chosen to represent the sides of creation and destruction.
I remember kind of liking this show, but in the newer seasons it got a bit confusing when I stopped watching. I never thought it would get its own movie.
Weirdly enough, the movie handled the plot of Miraculous better than the actual show did. The first half of the movie felt nostalgic to me and brought back that feeling of loving Miraculous like when I was younger.
So much of this movie feels like it was written based on what the fanbase wanted: - "Ladybug doesn't exist with you". - The masquerade Ball scene. - Gabriel's emotional breakdown over Adrien being Chat Noir. - Rooftop patrol scenes. - Marinette showing up in a Ladybug dress (totally missed opportunity in S5). - The double heartbreak scene. Granted the show does do some of these, but most of these concepts existed in fanfics long before the Season 5 finale and executed better than the movie.
And don't forget: - Adrien being treated like the protagonist he is, not sidelines or ridiculed just to put Marinette on a pedestal - No creepy stalking or break and entering - Adrien having more of a personality, not just reacting on a convenient way or being the perfect Ken doll - Marinette having flaws that are actual flaws, not her just making bad decision so they can be justified or done for the sake of plot only thing they really did murder was Plagg's character lmao but comparing the movie with the show... (taking the fanfics out of the picture), I'm keeping the movie. Did in 1 hr and 40 min what 5 seasons in 8 yrs of "storytelling" didn't. And after being SO frustrated by the show, I was hella happy with the movie, even if it's far from perfect... granted tho- the bar was in hell
@@Lidia__ I saw it with my friend who's never been a fan of the show and even tho she didn't know the lore in detail, she got the gist of it. I read somewhere they're planning a 2nd movie, so hopefully they expand on it? idk but just- comparing it to the entirety of the show... ig I'm keeping this movie instead lol bcs yeah it has many flaws but compared to the show, it was a win imo
@@Rox7neAdrien was just turned into an emo doll in this. What you call Ken doll ness in his show self has actually been a breath of fresh air in representation of abused characters. He was inspiring. Now he's just basic emo sadboi.
@demo2823 You DO know it was LITERALLY Thomas Astruc who called Adrien a Ken doll right? I never would've called him that otherwise. Also- as someone who literally had Adrien as a favorite character bcs I went through smth very similar, I DO enjoy what you call "emo sadboi". When I went through my loss and the neglect I did try to be perfect and I did that for a while. Until I didn't, not bcs I wanted to, but bcs I couldn't. I reached a breaking point and Adrien reaching his in the movie + him having hella intense emotions makes ACTUAL sense (for he is also a teenager) & THAT is more real than the Adrien in the show. Wanna know why?: Bcs even tho Adrien in the show reached a breaking point too, he only got there when it was necessary for the plot to move forwards or bcs a specific scene needed him to get there. The scenes that SHOULD have one just don't... like- he's literally just emotionless. Bcs funnily enough, the show's writer says, "Adrien is perFeCt" in everything, so having him reach a breaking point would make his character unbelievable in the Miraculous universe; even tho that would make him unbelievable as a person in general (if he didn't have CN as an outlet)... But then again, he DOES have his moments of crisis, so that outright negates his "perfection" as Thomas Astruc so weirdly said it. So as a whole, the characters are a MESS and the movie did WAY better for them in 1hr 40 min than the show did in 8yrs and 5 seasons. And I went on a rant bcs I fr liked the show, but not even the most eloquent of fans can save the show's writing or inconsistency atp and that's just a fact. The show had potential but it just messes it all up again and again, that's why most of the fans literally go to fanfiction to rewrite the show. That just shows how bad it got 💀. + AND don't even get me started on how the own writer neglects Adrien as a protagonist. Even tho the show's called: Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug AND CATNOIR.

@@aryavartamishra8185 No, it's creation. Check the wiki fandom, and season 1 episode 25 and season 4 episode 21. Ladybug’s power is all about creating new things, like when she summons an object to help her solve problems and defeat villains. It's like she's bringing something new into existence. Re-creation would mean making something again that was already there before. While Ladybug does fix everything after a battle, her power is really focused on creating, not just remaking what was broken. So, creation and re-creation aren’t exactly the same.
The movie literally accomplished stuff that the show didn't. They didn't make Marinette creepy, Adrien wasn't sidelined to put Marinette in the spotlight, and their identities were revealed instead of the bullshit excuses that Astruc uses. The only thing I don't like is how they ruined my boy Plagg, and the fact they didn't let Christina Vee sing her own songs, but apart from those things, I think the movie turned out great! :) Edit: Okay, Adrien did get sidelined. Not only did they not show him saving Master Fu's life, but they didn't really show his reaction to getting his powers now that I think about it. I think that to me, Adrien standing up to his father and finding out about his father's secret identity to me, was him finally getting some time in the spotlight because they RARELY happen in the show, if ever. But Marinette still had more screen time that him even though he should have been focused on more. Sorry about that 😓
This movie is literally a fat middle finger to Thomas Astruc, not even joking. Jeremy did in less than two hours everything Thomas couldn’t do in 5 seasons. Marinette isn’t a crazy stalker, Adrien shows actual emotion and his grief is more realistically portrayed, Gabriel is a decent father and actually shows remorse for his actions, the chemistry between ladybug and chatnoir is beautiful and they’re EQUALS, Chloe is a normal mean girl and not an irredeemable monster, hawkmoth isn’t an idiot and is an actual scary and strong villain, the fact that they reveal identities, etc. These are all the things the fandom has been asking for years, so this movie feels like a breath of fresh air. It isn’t perfect by any means but it was still beautiful, truly what miraculous should’ve been like. I know Thomas is probably out there somewhere embarrassed as hell at how much better of a writer Jeremy is😭
Adrien does show emotion in the show. Especially towards season 4 and 5 so I'm not sure what you mean by that. On top of it Adrien was more of a douche bag in this movie. Also, there's so much chemistry between Ladybug and Cat Noir in the show. The progression of their friendship makes complete sense. The movie was just a rushed version that made them fall in love in minutes. How was that good chemistry? Also, the movie and show just took different approaches to Gabriel. In the show, he's a narcissist, and in the movie he's just a troubled man. So comparing the two doesn't really make sense. This is just my opinion.
@@pinklov4447cool but I meant that Adriens grief is more portrayed here, like he is reclusive and angsty while he isn’t like that in the show. I also meant how he actually stands up to his father while he’s obedient in the show. As for the chemistry, I’m referring to chat noir and ladybug after the montage, like the wall scene and during stronger together. In the show ladybug and chat noir never have moments like those. As for Gabriel, in the show he shows no remorse towards Adrien when he discovers his identity and literally abuses him. Here, he actually regrets and apologizes to Adrien. So idk why you think Gabriel isn’t that different. You’re free to have your own opinion idc but mine is that🤷♀️
@@marianavillegas3000 Personally, the way he is very meek in the show makes absolute sense. People who grow up with toxic parents are very normalised to their parents behaviours so some stay very unreactive to it for a long time. Also, in season 5 we discover that the fact that Adrien is a sentimonster which plays in heavily into why he has been so obedient for so long. Also, for me personally the development of ladybug and cat noirs relationship in the show makes sense to me, and I love the sweet moments within the show that had a build up leading to it (like the season finale of season 4 and how they fell back together with a stronger bond after all the tension they experienced that whole season). To me the montage in the show may be cute but for me it was just rushed and they don't have a deep emotional bond that leads to that point. Also about the Gabriel thing, that's what I'm saying; him not being remorseful in the show and instead being egotistical also makes more sense to me. This is a man who is okay using people's feelings, including children's for his own needs. Him being remorseful makes no sense to me. In the show he's shown to the generally more controlling whilst in the movie he's more neglectful, so his character is a lot more malicious in the show; basically nothing like the movie. I think I like Gabriel's portrayal in the show more because I have an abusive dad myself, so the absolute selfishness of Gabriel in the show is absolutely accurate. Sorry if I'm annoying you with my replies. I'm not trying to say your wrong. Just want to express my reasoning behind my opinions on the show; as an abusive victim, they've portrayed the experience more realistically in the show compared to the movie.
@@js66613 yes i get that, but what doesn't add up to me is that a man can simultaneously use people (by akumatising them) for his own purpose and then be remorseful. in order to use people like that and risk hurting and killing people, it's very weird that you would be as empathetic as he was portrayed to be in this movie.
As a person whos been in the fandom this movie exceeded my low expectations lol, it was really good abd basically fixed everything about the show. Even the dialogue was great and the characters felt like people
Eh, I thought some things were missing. We didn't even get to see Marinette become friends (or friendly classmates) with Rose, Juleka, Mylene and the others. Some scenes felt like they cut too early, like, what happened at the end? An additional glance at Adrien, safe with his calmed down father, before she went home to her parents would have made a HUGE difference. And I feel like the conflict between falling for Cat Noir and Adrien should have been shown more effectively. Marinette barely thought about it. If we saw Marinette feeling some things for him before Cat Noir confessed, it would have felt more natural. I think too much time was spent in the beginning with the songs, and scenes that didn't have an impact. And Alya is barely in the movie. Marinette doesn't react any differently when she's in danger to just any stranger on the streets. It all feels rushed. Everything went into the animation, and not the plot and dialogue. Even Gabriel's exposition at the end, to Adrien, felt unnatural. I couldn't feel it because it brought me out of the movie. It broke the immersion too much. And Plagg... what have they done to him? Right after a serious moment he appeared with this childish joke. Are the creators not aware that teens and young adults watch Miraculous? We don't need fart jokes. Plagg barely shows up, he is turned into a joke, he never even mentions "camenbert" or whatever it's called. His character is stripped away. We don't get to see the two teens even bond that much with their kwamis, genuinely. Tikki doesn't really come across as sweet either. I'm usually not critical about movies... I can usually enjoy them for what they are. Acknowledge flaws and look over it. But I dunno, it was too much here.
It’s interesting that Hollywood is trying to make all villains relatable when the real villains in the world are becoming more cartoonishly evil and unrelatable
Fun things I’m not sure were touched on in the movie but I know from the lore and series - The Moth Miraculous does not make people evil it just grants them them abilities usually tied to their deepest desires. So the white butterflies are actually the original for if it’s power. It’s been corrupted because the user clearly is trying to use it for evil but imagining how the moth gem would be used for good might have put the MC out of a job 😂 2 - When they become their superhero selves they actually bond with the miraculous spirit, so the confidence Marinette has is due to her genuinely being merged with Tikki, the same way Adrian is a lot more playful and cocky when bonded with his, but the love for Ladybug is all Adrien
Wasn’t it stated in the movie that the Kwami that Hawkmoth had was the most powerful of them all? He has the power of both creation and destruction so I would assume so.
@@FortunaR the movie doesn’t say power of creation or destruction but it shows in the series and movie, he was able to destroy many things with his powers and even created lava somehow and he can create supervillains or hero’s if he wanted. Maybe he can’t fix the damage he does like ladybug, but I also don’t see how ladybug has the power of creation. Cat yes but bug no.
I actually really loved the movie, the only thing I didn’t like was the weird singers they hired, I don’t know about Cat Noir’s VA, but I know that the woman who voices Marinette can sing
@@seaofgeeseNot exactly, even in french, we have this weird voice switch. It is Lou, a french singer, who does the voices. We got this injustice in both languages
Yeah it's really disappointing, so I even switched it to French dub. But then the same singer is there for the French dub and it doesn't sound like the French VA. So I went to try out different languages and found Japanese to be the best. The acting is great, the singing is in character, sounds consistent when not singing. All except for this one song with Gabriel, just switch to French for that one.

I like how this movie could nearly redeem five seasons of trainwreck. Seeing Adrian's dad get what was coming to him and should have actually come a long time ago was so satisfying.
@@mikhailabraham421 but the story isn't over yet. Marinette remembers whose Adrien's dad really was. The utopia they're living in is built on a lie that'll come crashing down in season 6. That's not bad storytelling, it just requires patience from the audience instead of the instant gratification of watching the main couple kiss and having the story end there.
As someone who has watched the entire show, the message isn't actually to always be happy, it's to not be consumed by your negative emotions. As the show goes on we see multiple characters who are upset but choose not to give in to Hawk Moth. I think that's what the message actually is. It's ok to feel bad but you shouldn't fall victim to your emotions and harm others.
@@chilibloomyep, unfortunately Astruc later wrote her back into a villain role a few episodes later, but then in seasons 4 & 5 more characters are able to reject Hawkmoth, so yeah

I think it's important to point out that an akuma doesn't just automatically go to a sad person, rather hope has to be given up first. It's not saying be happy no matter what, but that letting it take over your life and ruin your relationships isn't a point you should ever get to. Also, it's canon that the magic of the miraculouses shields identities.
@@therealruvysvat2215 Yep, same. I always thought if Akumas came to where I lived, oh god I would get Akumatized everyday, life is just depressing and annoying sometimes
That's a nice thought but I wish they pointed out this difference because I don't remember this being established, even though it would've been important
idk if anyone mentioned it yet but their superhero costumes have “quantum masking” so that explains why nobody can recognize them. another thing, I think Gabriel’s dialogue at the end is from a past conversation, like a flash back but with words only, if that makes sense, with the purpose of letting the audience know that Nathalie knew all about what Gabriel was doing (and maybe hinting a part two maybe with her as the main villain hopium) instead of suggesting that Gabriel is still up to something. He already defeated them and could’ve used the miraculous, but he didn’t. He gave himself up, so it wouldn’t make sense for him to scheme further afterwards.

@@komihoshiko9789 It wouldn't make the story boring, since there is still a dilemma of destroying and recreating the world, even if for a good reason - but it would be a *different* show than the episodic villain-of-the-week series we got.

A plothole the original didn't have, because Gabriel needed all the Miraculous and didn't know one person had most of them.
They won’t. Gabriel wants to make a wish to basically obliterate the universe and create a new one where his wife is alive. Also, you have to sacrifice another human in the process. The only help they could offer is a trip to the psychiatric ward.
Strangely the movie gave compelling reasons in the opening that Marinette should be the holder of Cat miraculous. Girl, really is a disaster and Plagg would have loved it. Giving confidence to Marinette to own up to it and either use it to her advantage or work around it. Also if Adrian was lacking parental figures then Tikki would have been a good miraculous for him. With her kind and supportive nature along with how affectionate she is. Would have helped him emotionally.
You’re right….but that would have made Adrien more of a protagonist and we can’t have that here/sar Also Adrien isn’t smart enough to handle the ladybug and so he has to be more straight and narrow like Chat Noir/sar
@@insaneworld211 Oh no. I was being sarcastic. Adrien definitely has the potential to be a good ladybug. But for reasons, the show doesn’t wanna give him any kind of agency once so ever.
Having seen all of the episodes. My biggest issue with the movie was that it felt so rushed. They could have added more to the movie to explain things a little better rather then have them sing. For example- add a montage of Lady bug learning how to transform, use lucky charm , catch the butterflies and how to reset stuff afterwards. They assume we already know this stuff and have her do it in the film with no explanation on how she learned it. like did she always knew how to do that? My friend who had never seen Ladybug was so lost. This film would have been so much better if they took the approach of showing a Noob what ladybug is all about vs making a fan film that everyone should know everything about already. The visuals in this movie are amazing though!
definitely agree! I watched this with zero knowledge and i thought a lot of things were out of context until I realized this was actually based on a series.
Yes to your points. At least they had a montage of ladybug and cat noir defeating other enemies but the fighting really took a backstory to the character development and arcs. One of my favorite parts of the show as seeing the creative ways ladybug used her powers to defeat the enemies. I would have loved a balanced version of the story that combined the strengths of the show with the strengths of the movie. Something like a miniseries would have given them the time needed to show us enough fights while giving us the story and character arcs and ending that the movie gave. They also might have been able to fit in a little more story if there hadn't been a song every 2 minutes. While the music and voices are beautiful, I couldn't help cringing every time a song started.
I agree the storyline felt rushed. They really did not build out the relationship between the leads enough, or even with the side characters/friends.The songs felt more like filler than adding any real depth. I found the voice change between the actress and singer distracting too... like singer had a deeper voice and French accent or something. I would have preferred a soundtrack to montages of useful story development rather than the singing tracks. Felt the script lacked the humor from the original series. Went into watching this thinking it was going to be so good because of the hype but was disappointed.

Just as an explanation for the ending, Emile (Adrian’s mother) isn’t dead. It’s likely a setup for a second movie where the assistant (Natalie) takes over the role as the villain.
im just very confused on what happened to emily, in the show im pretty sure she got sick cuz of the broken miracolous right? but Gabriel didnt get the butterfly miracolous before after she whatever happened
She is dead though? They showed her body to highlight the peacock miraculous and that’s why Natalie will turn into a villain to still attempt to bring her back
@@whym3689 i always thought that Emilie was in a "magical" coma and not actually dead dead, that the whole spiel was so Gabe could hide her body in the glass container (in his basement) and make sure that no one would be searching for her If she was actually dead, her body would start decomposing. The glass container can't keep that sort of stuff from happening, and the butterfly/peacock don't have the sort of power that could stop the decomposition either.
I really liked Marinette in this movie, i mean yeah she still does have her nervous around Adrien moments, but she doesn't stalk him, in fact she even gathers the courage to try and ask him out.
I worked on the movie in the crowd animation team! The movie went through several changes and it took time to finally settle on one specific idea of what the story would be about, what characters would be involved etc. We did laugh a couple of times over some of the cliché lines, and the fact that these two can't regognise each other just because they wear Masks! But overall, it was a great experience and the songs are catchy :)
@@sophie.eloise heyy! Sure! Well I am a 3D animator meaning my main job is to animate or create believable movements on characters, creatures ,objects vehicles etc :) Other departments that you could be interested in are : lighting, rigging, 3D modeling, texture artist, hair and clothes simulation, compositing and more :) You can work in VFX, or in video games, tv shows and movies! It depends on what you prefer! For studies, either check for a school with an animation program or try searching for online courses😊😊 Hope this helps!
12:20 you’re saying that like the French HAVE air conditioning. I went there over the summer and almost none of the places I went to besides the REALLY big attractions had AC.
I loved the movie personally, and I’m glad they didn’t age it up. It’s all part of the nostalgia of it. However I think a miraculous movie meant for an older audience where there was actual fighting and wounds and suspense and struggling physically and with tough decision making, and real quality romance with no singing or cliche children nonsense would be absolutely epic.
I disagree, I absolutely hated this movie. No character development, songs sucked, art style sucked, changed the best character’s personality, etc. The only good thing I liked was them actually finding out each others identities, but that was done in such a cheesy way that I hated it to.
@@cheyennewagner2841This is very subjective. I really liked the movie. I am not a huge miraculous fan, but I have watched some episodes over the year with my sister. I've watched most of season 1 and 2 and part of 3. I gave up watching it after the adrien pov episode in s4. I watched the movie and it's really amazing. I watched the movie withh no expectations for it and it was enjoyable and fun. Marinette's character change was a very welcome one. I hated how in the series Marinette almost talked to Adrien like a normal person. In the movie she was still shy, but it made sense and she still gave a chance to talk to him. (The montage scenes are pretty cool) The animation is amazing a beautiful to watch. A lot of the scenes feel a lot more realistic because of it, and I get a little more scared of what will happen to the town. The songs are really good, but it's hard to watch the English versión because of the different voice actors. My last complaint is how fast the pacing was towards the end. Everyone has different opinions, I just wanted to share mine.
@@DMonty91If you mean that the characters were acting much diffrent than they did in the series by "out of character", then I completely welcome it. Marinette not being a Mary Sue, Adrien being an actual teenager and Gabriel actually loving his son are out of character? Then hell yeah, make them even more out character!
@@cheyennewagner28411. There definitely was character development especially with Marinetre. They literally took away her stalker tendencies and made her a shy girl who grew confident enough to even ask out Adrian to the ball which she never does in the show for anything. Kinda agree with the songs but I enjoyed 2 or 3 of them. Art style is a major upgrade from the show in case u couldn't tell even if you don't quite like it. Identity revealing was good as well but I would've loved a full dance at the end
One of the complaints i have, other than it being a musical to begin with, is that the VA for Marinette can ACTUALLY sing, which was shown to those who know Verosika from Helluva Boss who is played by the same VA as Marinette and even sings a (ridiculously) good song in the show yet ig the director didnt think she could do it for the movie? Idk, i loved Cristina Venezuela in Helluva Boss and thought she most definitely wouldve been able to sing Marinette's parts and it probably wouldve been way better than what we got.
Yeah I agree that her VA should have sang or at least get someone that has a similar enough voice to sing because this movie threw me off so badly with how different her voice is vs the singing voice, it just doesn’t match at all so it takes you out of the movie it makes it awkward.
The reason no one can tell that it is Adrian and Marinette is because when they are Ladybug and Chat Noir there is a magical force that messes with everyone's perception of them. So, they look different through everyone's eyes. The magical force also causes you weaknesses to be enhanced to where they are your greatest strengths, that is where Marinettes confidence comes from, and her coordination.
I liked how they didn't make Marinette a stalker in here, all good, but her secret identity could've been harder to tell had they make Marinette's hair as black and eye color as brown so when she transform into Ladybug it can go blue hair and bluebell eyes to avoid being discovered, so many missed opportunities, as long as they still keep her Asian features as Ladybug. Sure, it would have fit her under the Hollywood's "Asian Hair Streak/Dyed" character trope for that, but that still would've been badass.
@@Hi-nt6te I find that explanation dumb tbh, but oh well, I can't argue against canon it still doesn't change the fact that it easy to recognize someone right away like Ayla finding out who Nino was after he got his first miraculous
but i feel like that would change the whole character design of the main character that we're familiar with, so i think i woldn't make any changes in that aspect if it were me.
@@zynpkrdg Look at her concept art first, she was supposed to have black hair and her hair is canonically black in-universe even if it shown blue but that is due to animation budget/problems but yet, the fandom think it blue, so??? I would fix that if it were me
@@generaltank1426 the movie is extremely rushed. The fights, the love, the reveal. It’s all rushed. They written out all the characters too lmfao. U can’t fit 5 seasons of lord and storyline into a 105 mins movie lol
@@generaltank1426Not really tho. The movie never truly establised Ladybug and Cat Noir's powers, even tho they seem to work a bit differently than they do in the show. Everything about Adrien being a sentimonster goes completely off the radar. Adrien gets even more sidelined than he was in the show. This movie did not fit 5 seasons of the show in 2 hours. The movie just took the very basic premise, and removed a bunch of stuff from the show so it all could fit in 2 hours. Yes, there are things that the movie handles way better than the show (Marinette's character for exemple) but you people make it sound like that movie is masterpiece and the show is shit when actually the show is just very mid and the movie is good above average
@@generaltank1426 So true, at this point I think if they had just kept the whole series short.. like over 3-4 season it would've have been a much greater success with more positive points than the negative ones
Gabriel deciding to give up his villainy and then two seconds later turning around and going "nah, back to this" is par for the course actually. Mans has done it in the show, even starting to move on from his wife and get closer with Nathalie, and then changing his mind immediately
MY THEORY 17:38 Natalie is thinking about what gaberial said before the ending and she steals the peacock miraculous of Emily and the second movie will be them fighting her because the movie is kinda of a huge plot twist from the actual show so why wouldn't they change the whole Natalie thing so they might be changing it where shes the bad guy now
The movie is everything the fans could have wanted, it’s like 10x better than the show! You see Adrien standing up to his father, Marinette still being Marinette but actually taking to Adrien rather than making random sounds, and you even get to see Hawk Moth and Cat Noir having their own moment during the big fight rather than Ladybug fighting Hawk Moth in Season 5. Like Adrien didn’t even get to find out his father was Hawk Moth for himself in Season 5. Did I forget to mention how Ladybug and Cat Noir actually seemed cute in the movie, whilst in the show Ladybug rejected Cat Noir all the time and was always HORRIBLE TO HIM.
Season 5 ending was so bad if you like Adrien. All the emotion attached to Adrien was gone, he never saw his dad be the villain, never got to confront him about it and we didn't even see him talk to his mum or reunite with her. They might as call this Miraculous ladybug since Cat Noir is a secondary character instead of a main.
@@Markus2E5I6 I KNOW! Like it had Adrienette in it at the end and I’m glad at least one character found out who Monarch/Shadow Moth/Hawk Moth (or whatever you wanna call him now 😭) is… too bad it was the “main” character. The show is called Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug AND Cat Noir. You’d think there’d be more than like, one episode in the POV of Adrien as he’s a major part of the show. The Miraculous channel in English is literally just called Miraculous Ladybug. There also was apparently going to be a scene in the season 5 ending where Adrian’s hugging it out with Adrien, but they couldn’t add it in because of time issues. I’m sure they could have fit it in somewhere if they threw out a few seconds of the fight scene or something. I would have also loved to see Adrien finding out his father was gone and being gaslit into thinking he was some hero. I at least hope he’ll find out his father was Monarch soon. And I swear Thomas Astruc said that there was going to be a reveal by Season 5 or 6, so let’s hope he sticks to his words when season 6 episodes start coming out!
And lady bug and cat noir actually got together and found out each other’s identities without any complications like losing memory or end of the world stuff
The movie was phenomenal in comparison to the show, but both are simply just fun experiences. I will say that Astruc ruins his show by trying NOT to cater to fans, and it makes the show confusing and irritating; things and characters just pull 180s out of nowhere. Zag did a great job showing the fans that he knows what we want to see, even if he couldn’t shove all of that into a movie that flowed well.
Yeah astruc was like, yeah I'll just shut my ears with these noise cancelling headphones while y'all yell crap coz you're all bullies and decide what you're gonna like coz obviously I know better. Honestly, though not to take from actual cyber bullies coz there were many of those too and it's awful that astruc has to go through that but he was just denying any form of criticism that was being given to him as fans being irrational and not knowing how to act online.
@@N0t.Vincent.Charbonneau Don't defend that guy... he's literally the worst and any time someone would have a small critic on the show he would get pissed off. Fans would say they didn't like Marinette being a stalker and he would throw a hissy fit. People pointed out that a lot of his Asian characters were really stereotypical and then he would throw a hissy fit. Half the time it wouldn't even be directed towards him (just a conversation between fans) and he would be upset at people. It's one thing to get harassed and an entirely different thing to just get upset when people didn't like something. And the reason why people dog on him now is because he's an asshole
@@captainwoongcat exactly. The movie feels like a giant middle finger to Astruc and I love it! Seriously, the characters are likeable, the love quadrangle not only makes sense but is also engaging and gets resolved, Gabriel is portrayed as a good person that fell from grace but managed to find the light after he realized he was hurting the only person left in his life he cared for, Adrien stood up to his father after all his neglect, Marinette isn't a stalker, Chloe is a fun bully to watch, we got the Chat noir VS Hawkmoth confrontation we needed, and they revealed their identities to each other at the end! This is everything the actual show is not and I love it! Funny how season 2 and this movie prove that all Miraculous needs to be great is remove Astruc from the project, isn't it?
Honestly, the thing that I loved most was how Lady bug and Cat Noir could actually confess their feelings towards each other without some weird twist or something to happen. Feels very refreshing from the 5 seasons of bs.
@@DuelaDent52 To put it simply, his creative decisions frustrated the entire fanbase, and when questioned about it he displayed an immense ego, immature behavior, put the blame on the audience for not liking his vision and keeps deflecting criticism by strawmanning his critics and never addressing their actual complaints.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but are you telling me they find out Hawk Moth's identity, Cat Noir, and Ladybug's identity, AND Adrien and Marinette end up dating in less than two hours?! Two hours, meanwhile it takes the season five finale before just Ladybug finds out Hawkmoth's identity (and lies to Adrien to protect him)! Five seasons before Adrien and Marinette started dating and they don't even know each other's alter egos by the end the season?!
The idea that a girl who wants to be a fashion designer can't recognize people when they change clothes is kinda bonkers in the grand scheme of things.
Lmao they really need better less revealing clothing and body mods so they don’t look like their civilian selves. That’s the only way I can see the miraculous hero suit concept working, otherwise the characters are plain stupid 😭
About what you mention in 9:55 , I once saw a theory that the kwami’s personality influences on their personalities when they transform. Marinette as ladybug has tikki’s confidence and Adrien as chat noir has plagg’s sarcasm. Which would kinda explain why marinette said she is not a damsel in distress
I’m not an avid viewer of the show, but I think this would have to be canon, because if I remember correctly, when mari and adrien switch powers, mari becomes flirty and sarcastic like chat, and adrien becomes, um, not flirty with ladybug’s power lol. Which kind of raises some interesting questions, since how much can the character’s flaws/virtues be attributed to them if their personalities are being changed/influenced by these separate creatures
Ok as someone who follows the lore of miraculous٫ I would like to explain why no one can recognize the heroes even though they look the same and sound the same from their normal selves. the answer is magic or quantum masking as it's called. In the miraculous New York special it is revealed that the magic of the miraculous is able to confuse human minds to protect the identity of the hero. So even though it should be obvious to connect the dots٫ the quantum masking makes it so they can't. I know a lot of people are confused about that so I hope this helps to explain it
Lol finally someone gets it! I also don’t understand how Adrien’s mask fell off in the end since their suits are supposed to be like some sort of magic. I kinda forgot how it works tho
Maybe it's like in Cute High Earth Defense Club Love, where the heroes specifically point out that the villains *must* also be kids from their school, but their faces literally are blurred and i think voices changed at some point as an explination why they can't just go "oh, hey, i recognize that kid from my grade who disappears randomly by their hair, build, and voice" The show may be stupid and dumb, but it's so hilariously funny and meta at times. Genderbent sailor moon for the win, i guess
14:09 I AM HERE TO EXPLAIN. so since it was a movie they didn't add everything, we can't assume the same concept as the series, which is, that their costumes confuse common people [some magic of the costume] so they can't guess their reality.
For me the most welcome change was that Marinette doesn't just obsess and "celeb-crush" on Adrien, they actually are friends, unlike in the show where Marinette is like highkey a stalker
I appreciate that they gave the movie an entirely new plot from the show so it doesn't spoil the show. It's like the movie for when people want a fast runthrough of the basic premise of the show, mostly spoiler free(outside of it spoiling the end of season 2, and of course the 1st few episodes), to see if they want to watch it.
i really like how the movie gave us the love story that we always wanted, didn’t make marinette a stalker, the characters look ten times better like how adrien literally isn’t yellow but is kinda inaccurate because how is marinette talking to adrien and also the plot was kinda rushed. I also kinda wished that we got to hear her signature catch phrases and more transformation scenes. Also the revealing the secret identities isn’t at all accurate but it was cute. Overall wish that the plot was closer to the original show and like the storyline. Finally i kinda wish that there wasn’t a musical cus that could have been more time in the movie to give us a really really good storyline.
Problems with this movie: 1. The Pacing seems fast a little 2. The noticeable change in VAs when characters sing (Also Marinette's original VA can sing idk why they switched her out, we have seen her sing on the show and even in the TH-cam Series Helluva Boss.)
I totally agree with the pacing, they were also panning to different characters and different angles too much in the early parts of the movie which threw me off. I think they just wanted to show off the animation lmao.
My personal 3. : Plaggs Character. He‘s disgusting in the movie. In the series he‘s a sympathetic, lazy, cheese-loving cat who actually loves his holder in his own way but they turned him into some VERY unsympathetic trash eating thing in the movie who doesn’t seem interested in Adrien in the slightest
7:21 Hawk Moth is much less sympathetic in the TV series. Definitely more than one occasion where he proves that he will sell his own son out to get his wife back, and at least one occasion where he sells a chance to get his wife back to stick it to Ladybug.
@@doveeexxBut it’s still indicative that his hatred of Ladybug and Cat Noir and his desperation to win triumph over his love for Adrien and even his wife.
This reminded me of the theory that Adrian is one of the golem. I forget what is called but the creatures that the peacock miraculous creates there's a theory that Adrian mom made him w that
I think it was kinda weird because when they would sing their voices were weird. They didn’t match up with their regular voices. Like Marinette has a higher pitched voice but her singing voice literally goes 📉
Yes the movie has it's flaws but considerably less than a tv series that has been out for 8 years. Here's my thoughts. Adrian actually feels like a teenage boy here. He has lived a sheltered life but when plag comes to him he really leans into the hero power fantasy most of us have as teenagers. He is sooo certain he will be the one "to save the world (world... world.. worl... wor...)" but when he comes face to face with an actual monster he is justifiably frightened. Marinette can't do everything. She's a kid freaking the f out because this flying little *thing* told her "you gonna die to save the world like it or not. " and She's like "not" but when her inaction leads to consequences she has no choice but to attempt to stand up. They felt like real people, Adrian gets angry at his dad for abandoning him after his mother died but still wants his live and affection. Plus unlike the show the movie holds Gabriel accountable for his actions. In the show he is immortalized as a hero with a gold statue while in the movie he goes to prison. And Chloe feels like an actual teenage bully rather than the looney toons version of satan. Aliyah and mari's friendship feels more organic. Aliyah is a weird chick who hangs out with Marinette because she is a danger magnet and Aliyah absolutely loves the absolute chaos that follows Marinette which helps Marinette ease up and be more comfortable in her every day life. And Gabriel knows that what he is doing is bad, he just doesn't give a f*ck about it. He knows what he wants and if two b*tches gotta die then two b*tches gotta die. Unfortunately they went that corny love is the most powerful force blah blah thing but atleast he sees his son is one of the b*tches that gitta die and he is just like "hold up this is my son. I can't do this to him" unlike the shiw where he finds out his son is said b*tch and he is just like "oh I can kill a b*tch at my breakfast table."
Tiki never said the "die" word. It was just tralnslation mistake. Please listen the orginial french version. "I looked for Ladybug for thousend years. Because they save the world when it is in danger In the darkest hours where the fear reigins There is always a ladybug who is strong and fight. Spying and fighting are best friends We will come close to love sometimes BUT WE BEAT THE ENEMY! We will all be impressed seeing your abilities Always vailant like a super Ladybug Inside you are strong, you just need to feel it" This is what Tiki says in the rap. Also, in the end, Tiki don't say "I will kick your butt if you don't listen". She says, "My patience has limits when I know I am right If you don't say yes in fast I will decide Being alone doesn't help anyone I am opening your path I don't have a choose I will decide for you No time to wait another three months You are ladybug!"
Never watched the show but watched tons of entertaining reviews of people ripping it apart. And yeah the show is a damn mess. The more "unique" feature of the show is the love square which as you said sounds cute on paper but my god I could not bare to watch the stupid will they won't they for 5. 5 entire seasons. All I know from the show is the reviews of it, and what I got was, Marinette is a stalker who is obsessed with this poor teenage boy, said teenage boy lives a miserable life being objectified by all the romantic rivals Marinette gets rid of throughout the show because it's "romantic", the side characters barely matter, and the only one who does (Chloe) gets vilified and deemed as a forever evil entity (she is 14). My god. Miraculous is a mess. So I watched the movie. And... gonna be honest I really liked it. It's trashy fun. It's a lighthearted and very sweet. Gone are the stalker tendencies, gone are the continuous advances after the girl said no, replaced with genuinely charming banter and building of a friendship between both identities at the same time (Adrien + Marinette, Ladybug + Chat Noir). I truly believe the only reason people find this movie so good or better than the show is because... sadly this movie did what the show didn't in 5 seasons. The bare f**king minimum. I don't blame the movie for being rushed or having very bare bone fleshing out of characters, they did have to cram 5 seasons into an hour and 40 min. There are things the movie could have done better. Honestly the music was fine but not everything needs to be a musical. Coming as someone who loves musicals, this should not have been one. The show itself isn't. It could have been 10 - 15 min longer. Why did we need so many scenes with Marinette's parents. She gets a lot of scenes with them for some reason but the one character who NEEDED scenes with his parent barely gets 2. Like come on. Give those min of screentime to Adrien and Gabriel Agreste instead. And then use the rest of those min to flesh out the romance of the characters a little more. Especially when they're "off mask" (Why the hell would Marinette 'choose' Adrien, the guy she's barely friends with, over Cat Noir, who she has been through so much with and saved her life so many times) But you know what. It's fine. It's a perfectly fine movie. Nothing too wrong about it, it's a movie to truly turn your brain off and enjoy with popcorn. Some scenes are genuinely so charming. Some of the jokes are quite funny, the action scenes are an absolute delight. I have to say my favorite scene in the entire movie was when the two protags just stopped for a second to have some fun and play fight. I don't know why but my god that was so cute. Like for once you can see a little bit past these fearsome powerful heroes and realize the teenagers they are inside. Who just stop for a second after their constant lives of danger, to have wholesome fun with each other. I loved that.
Omg yes I'm french and I felt so alone reading all the comments, I didn't really enjoy the movie that much... Do you think it's because of the voice acting ? I kinda want to see it in english now
@@xxcameliais it because of the voice acting you hate it? I think it was rather a good movie only bit I would say is that I wish we got more plagg and Adrien scenes and I wish it was more like their relationship in the series. Not saying they hate each other but the warmth wasn’t there it was just comedic relief
@@whym3689 I think it's the writing, less than the actual voice actors. Except for the villain song, I didn't like the songs, and I usually LOVE musicals! Oh and also the end crédits song that was in english for us, when I heard it I was like damn are the english songs that good, what happened?? 😂 also, like in english, the talking and the singing voices of Marinette were really different and it bothered me the whole movie. But yeah, the lyrics of the songs were really childish, and in general the writting seemed very childish too me. I know the series can also have this problem but I never was that much bothered by it and it's sometimes very subtle which I love. The thing is, sometimes shows in VO (so in english) have good writting, and then the french trad is just very childish (for exemple Steven Universe, I could never watch it in french, the voice actors also don't fit at all) But in the video I saw that even in english some of the written seem also childish (like "you saved my heart" I am very romantic but when he said that I almost laughed in the theatre) so i don't know Oh and also no Marichat which is my absolute favorite pairing :(
And I was planning on watching this movie in Dutch/Flemish (my native language), English and French because I thought the French songs would be so beautiful 😅
French here, hated it too. So many problems. Honestly season 5 finale isn't the best but I liked it. Gabriel sacrificing himself for Nathalie was actually a nice thing. Astruc said that Adrien is living in a lie and by that he implies that Adrien will discover that his dad was the villain. I like that Gabriel for once listened and did it for Nathalie, he now's dead like Emilie and much happier that he was before. Adrien is an orphan but at least he has Nathalie and maybe Amelie will come live in Paris with Felix. But the point is that the movie was not better than the finale of season 5, I cannot like it because there are so many flaws. Where are Adrien and Marinette real interaction? Marinette being the extremely clumsy girl with no friend who is bullied is such a cliché. The akumas were nothing. We got a gargoyle then the mimes who weren't actually costumed and the rest was in pictures. Not lucky charm is very bad because where's the point of them being the creation and destruction? The yin and the yang? What was created by Ladybug? Nothing. Ladybug is this hero who's creative and who needs time to think while Chat Noir is the one who go in it and destroy everything. The revelation wasn't good at all, there was no build-up, no tension, and Gabriel renouncing to his plan just because he saw his son who he didn't cared about through the movie was not believable. The city being saved by the power of love is so much bullshit. It's like Jeremy had no idea and he picked the power of love... 😒 The songs were just bad, having an different voice actor for the talking about singing voice was a bad idea. The movie felt so much rushed and I don't understand why if he wants to make a second one??
I like how they kind of explain the yo-yo into nothing part, by it being able to fly. It pulls her along at first and then apparently just stay in the air when we can’t see it
The yoyo is actually an ancient weapon used for hundreds of years in the philippines where it was stuck with spikes and struck at their prey, or so said
the problem with miraculous in general is that it was first intended for young children and that's where the series makes sense but as time has gone on more older people have joined in and from season 4 and 5 i think they have aimed the series more at the older crowd. the problem is that you can't rewrite the whole series but you can't just leave it either
I mean the people was children when they first started miraculous and then they grow up and the show runners thought they want to grow the show with them?
In other words, stop dragging your show for so many years without an ending on sight. If they want the Pokemon audience, then this format is not working at all. Or just finish this plot and start with a different miraculous user, that would make more sense.
The movie had more stuff happening then the whole 5 season show tbh. Gabriel's storyline was way better then the shit that they pulled in the show and Mari wasn't a stalker so it's a win
16:03 remember when in the show , it was confirmed that cat noir and ladybug's masks couldn't be removed by any means This movie literally just shit on 5 seasons of rules
Honestly, it is much better than the show. Marinette doesn't seem like a stalker and stuff and adrien shows more of himself when he gets to be cat noir (like the show tried to do). I wish they didn't make it a movie with songs as they could have got the point across without Marinette singing about herself 3 times. Everything you said about the movie is quite accurate but compared to the show, the movie is a lot better
@@Axowithfroggowell it's a reboot of jeremy zags version it's not supposed to be similar to the show And her french va sang her English songs as well as they promised her she'd get them
Marinette being clumsy is actually explained well though, it isn't just "uwu im so quirky", it's that she has social anxiety. Having social anxiety naturally means you'll get symptoms of anxiety when you're in public or thinking about socialising. This could easily mean having shaky legs which make you more prone to falling especially if your head is focused on anxious thoughts rather than being aware of your surroundings. It makes a lot of sense and her anxiety towards her self-image and lack of confidence is shown in a realistic manner.
@@Yungteasipppppa You sound insecure. I hope whatever anger you are trying to relieve on me is resolved soon, maybe next time don't be so obvious about how unsatisfied you are in yourself and your life online. It's a bit sad. :)
@@Osato_June I do too and i find it frustrating when people belittle something like Marinette's clumsiness and make fun of her for being quirky but she's so clearly got some sort of social anxiety issue. It may not be severe, but she has a social anxiety issue. Her behaviour is something social anxiety can genuinely give a person. When your mind is overwhelmed over your surroundings and specifically how you may look or appear to the people around you, you're very easily going to lose control over yourself and end up tripping or just forgetting how to walk for a second.
Fr fr the show spent like 8 years making fun of her anxiety for shits and giggles (fuck you thomas) and I love that the movie version takes it seriously.
Something I found weird was that the guy who got his heart broken just turned into a gargoyle. Most of the time, the akumatized version of the person and their powers would match the situation that caused them to have strong negative emotions, or it just relates to the person itself. Like the girl who got rejected by Kim because he liked Chloe became a Siren because A) she was a swimmer and B) She wanted Kevin to like her and not Chloe, and Sirens use their voices to seduce people.
the movie is much better than the show despite even its many issues. one thing that made me super sad though is basically the only developed dynamic we got was ladybug and chat noir. we didn’t get much of anything between Marinette and adrien. it felt like we didn’t get to see how important Marinette was to adrien, only how important chat noir was to Marinette.
Yeah, I feel like their relationship was kind of rushed. Not to mention it seemed like Adrien didn’t like Marinette as much in the beginning as he did in the show
Same their dynamic felt off and I went into the movie understanding it wasn't connected to the series and should look at as a spin off or A alternate universe that might connect to the multiverse movie or something but as a writer it felt off yeah the series had its problems but it never felt as off as the movie did for me and that's coming from a writer's mindset not one of a fan But I still enjoyed it none the less it just felt like it was written by people who didn't understand the lore or characters

I felt like Movie did decent fan service to fans who have been a part of the fandom for so long. I think the thing I missed was number one the way that Marinette falls for Adrien, that was hooked me on the show. And number two, a more clear explanation of their powers, I feel like the movie just kind of glossed over it, and left fans to put things together based on what they know from the show. Anyway, I love both.
Wait can u remind me why she falls for him in the show? I remember her thinking he was a rude jerk and then I think he gives her an umbrella when it's raining one day??? Idk i forgot
I would say her falling in love on the movie and season 1 is more sane than whatever the creators did in later seasons on the show, so I don’t mind at this point as long as she isn’t being a creep and getting away with it as if its normal behavior
It’s the fact that it took an hour and forty two minutes for Marinette and Adrien figure out who each other were and to have Hawkmoth getting revealed.
This movie honestly gave us a better finale to the Hawk Moth arch than the series did. It’s not perfect by any means, but I’ll take it a million times over the last 5 seasons.
lmao amen to that. And we got Adrien treated like an actual protagonist and no creepy stalking from Marinette. Did in 1hr 40 min what 8 yrs and 5 seasons couldn't. I'll take it as a win.
I'm pretty sure the ending means while gabriel changed, nathalie disagrees and continues his work to revive emilie. Possibly because, with only gabriel knowing she was aware no-one informed her of the details.
No but tell me why the movie managed to humanize Hawk Moth better than Hawk Moth in the show. He's just a morning husband who tries everything in his power to get his wife back. And spoilers: in the show there have been times where Adrien's identity has been reviled to Hawk Moth and he straight up decides to fight him even more, while in the movie he stopped bc he was literally gonna hurt his own son to bring his wife back. The difference between the movie and the show's portrayal of Hawk Moth is just down right interesting to me. And tbh idk if I have already commented this but you get my point. I honestly like him better in the movie than the series. Especially the "love square" it's still complicated but is finally put to rest in the movie, while in the show it's just dragged for on and on and on.
I just want to thank whoever did Chat Noir's sound design. I loved hearing his little bell jingle when he moved. It was so well thought out and executed so nicely. It wasnt too loud to take away from the scene and just made the movie more realistic.

No one hates the Ladybug series as much as its own fandom and it's hilarious
Well, you have to understand that the reason we all hate Ladybug nowadays is because the creator ruined the show and kept sucking his own dick and forcing us to watch (metaphorically, of course).
Ur not wrong😭😭😭🤣
But almost everyone is too invested to not know what's next
Miraculous being bad is why it's so good. It's almost like reality TV, we're just here for the madness and drama. The crazier the better
This is like every fandom.
Two things:
- While not mentioned in the movie, the show mentions that the Kwamis' power is why nobody can recognize them.
He really should have watched the show. He only watched two episodes.
@@sirmel11 I think that the movie isn't super strong because you need to watch the show to understand the movie, the point of the movie was to restart the story, so why does it rely so heavily on context from the show?
@@erinmcneil1465 Not sure why you're asking me. I'm just saying he didn't watch the show.

So much of this movie feels like it was written based on what the fanbase wanted:
- "Ladybug doesn't exist with you".
- The masquerade Ball scene.
- Gabriel's emotional breakdown over Adrien being Chat Noir.
- Rooftop patrol scenes.
- Marinette showing up in a Ladybug dress (totally missed opportunity in S5).
- The double heartbreak scene.
Granted the show does do some of these, but most of these concepts existed in fanfics long before the Season 5 finale and executed better than the movie.
i wonder how confusing it must be for anyone who would know nothing about the show at all, this movie wont stand the test of time
And don't forget:
- Adrien being treated like the protagonist he is, not sidelines or ridiculed just to put Marinette on a pedestal
- No creepy stalking or break and entering
- Adrien having more of a personality, not just reacting on a convenient way or being the perfect Ken doll
- Marinette having flaws that are actual flaws, not her just making bad decision so they can be justified or done for the sake of plot

Wanna know why?:
Bcs even tho Adrien in the show reached a breaking point too, he only got there when it was necessary for the plot to move forwards or bcs a specific scene needed him to get there.

Ladybug is the miraculous of recreation not creation 😅😅😅
Edit: Okay, Adrien did get sidelined.

@@pinklov4447 But in the movie, doesn't Gabriel treat Adrien differently, hence the response is different?
@@js66613 yes i get that, but what doesn't add up to me is that a man can simultaneously use people (by akumatising them) for his own purpose and then be remorseful. in order to use people like that and risk hurting and killing people, it's very weird that you would be as empathetic as he was portrayed to be in this movie.
As a person whos been in the fandom this movie exceeded my low expectations lol, it was really good abd basically fixed everything about the show. Even the dialogue was great and the characters felt like people

Definitely!! Even tho the voice acting and some awkward moments it's satisfying enough for me.
Fun things I’m not sure were touched on in the movie but I know from the lore and series
- The Moth Miraculous does not make people evil it just grants them them abilities usually tied to their deepest desires. So the white butterflies are actually the original for if it’s power. It’s been corrupted because the user clearly is trying to use it for evil but imagining how the moth gem would be used for good might have put the MC out of a job 😂
2 - When they become their superhero selves they actually bond with the miraculous spirit, so the confidence Marinette has is due to her genuinely being merged with Tikki, the same way Adrian is a lot more playful and cocky when bonded with his, but the love for Ladybug is all Adrien
Oooooooh, so that's why they act like different people.
@theanimeguy7072 Ooo, new information gained! Thank you! 😂✨
Wasn’t it stated in the movie that the Kwami that Hawkmoth had was the most powerful of them all? He has the power of both creation and destruction so I would assume so.
@@Lock_bh i'm not sure who told you that his miraculous has the power of creation and destruction cus the movie specifically says the opposite.

I actually really loved the movie, the only thing I didn’t like was the weird singers they hired, I don’t know about Cat Noir’s VA, but I know that the woman who voices Marinette can sing
It's the french VAs singing
Lou, the singer, also sang the og theme song so that’s probably why they wanted her to sing in movie
@@seaofgeeseNot exactly, even in french, we have this weird voice switch. It is Lou, a french singer, who does the voices. We got this injustice in both languages
I literally have a song on one of my playlists with Cristina Vee singing??? It sounds GREAT.

As someone who has watched the entire show, the message isn't actually to always be happy, it's to not be consumed by your negative emotions. As the show goes on we see multiple characters who are upset but choose not to give in to Hawk Moth. I think that's what the message actually is. another thing, I think Gabriel’s dialogue at the end is from a past conversation, like a flash back but with words only, if that makes sense, with the purpose of letting the audience know that Nathalie knew all about what Gabriel was doing (and maybe hinting a part two maybe with her as the main villain hopium) instead of suggesting that Gabriel is still up to something. He already defeated them and could’ve used the miraculous, but he didn’t. He gave himself up, so it wouldn’t make sense for him to scheme further afterwards.
I find it hilarious that this dude is so fully committed do doing evil that not even ONCE has it crossed his mind to just, ask ladybug and cat noir for their help after seeing them the first time

You’re right….but that would have made Adrien more of a protagonist and we can’t have that here/sar

@@redballoon9007 OH, the sar went right over me
Having seen all of the episodes.

3:the show pretends that mari and Adrian are both main characters, but the movie basically says she is the main character
4: all the songs, I'll admit the I am ladybug song did grow on me but I expected no singing, maybe the show tune but that's it
5: THE WERE ALREADY CALLED LADYBUG AND CAT NOIR! They got to chose those names in the show!
6: the moth miraculous isn't evil, Gabriel asked if it could make villains in the show

8: Gabriel showing who he is, I can get behind LB and CN knowing who they are but the whole city knows Gabriel is hawk-moth?
9: since when could they force a costume change?! They are supposed to need to know the 'plagg claws out' bit!

Just as an explanation for the ending, Emile (Adrian’s mother) isn’t dead. It’s likely a setup for a second movie where the assistant (Natalie) takes over the role as the villain.
*Emily

@@levi_lover25No, actually it is Emilie. It’s the french spelling.
She is dead though? They showed her body to highlight the peacock miraculous and that’s why Natalie will turn into a villain to still attempt to bring her back
@@whym3689 i always thought that Emilie was in a "magical" coma and not actually dead dead, that the whole spiel was so Gabe could hide her body in the glass container (in his basement) and make sure that no one would be searching for her

I had no idea she voiced both of those characters, that's so cool!
WHAT IM SAYINGGGG Christina Vee is literally a singer!! Her vocals are so great they should've let her sing
Yeah I agree that her VA should have sang or at least get someone that has a similar enough voice to sing because this movie threw me off so badly with how different her voice is vs the singing voice, it just doesn’t match at all so it takes you out of the movie it makes it awkward.
Apparently, they had already agreed to have Lou sing the songs in the movie, so Christina couldn't sing. just what i heard though
When I watched the movie I was flabbergasted when the voiced changed for the singing. 😭

Wow, what did the creator do?
Literally
Lmao they really need better less revealing clothing and body mods so they don’t look like their civilian selves. That’s the only way I can see the miraculous hero suit concept working, otherwise the characters are plain stupid 😭
It's magic the kwamis literally said it's magiccc
@@donut1550well this movie is a different universe, so I'm guessing their costumes may have different rules here
Also, this series uses Superman logic. But at least most of these characters wear masks.
Love how they explained this in a special after multiple seasons
Maybe it's like in Cute High Earth Defense Club Love, where the heroes specifically point out that the villains *must* also be kids from their school, but their faces literally are blurred and i think voices changed at some point as an explination why they can't just go "oh, hey, i recognize that kid from my grade who disappears randomly by their hair, build, and voice"
The show may be stupid and dumb, but it's so hilariously funny and meta at times.
Which is indirectly addressed when a photographer was stalking Jagged Stone, and then never brought up again.
Honestly, it couldn’t spoil the show if it tried because nothing significant happens in the show that wasn’t in the film.
@@MiraBoo😂
i really like how the movie gave us the love story that we always wanted, didn’t make marinette a stalker, the characters look ten times better like how adrien literally isn’t yellow but is kinda inaccurate because how is marinette talking to adrien and also the plot was kinda rushed.
Horrible opinion buy you do you.

@@oliverdelica2289Oh no, I thought it was so cringy.
12:11 did tiki just say "your dead!" or am i hearing things?😂
Problems with this movie:
1. The Pacing seems fast a little
Marionettes singing voice was terrible. I couldn't stand it sorry
I wanted her VA to do it.
7:21 Hawk Moth is much less sympathetic in the TV series. Definitely more than one occasion where he proves that he will sell his own son out to get his wife back, and at least one occasion where he sells a chance to get his wife back to stick it to Ladybug.
Literally that’s why I was expecting him to take Cat noirs ring when he was hugging him
@mirella1120 that was in Chat Blanc in an alternate time line
@@doveeexxBut it’s still indicative that his hatred of Ladybug and Cat Noir and his desperation to win triumph over his love for Adrien and even his wife.

The animation in this scene: 11:25 Is truly amazing. idk but just Marinette's movements at the beginning of the clip is so satisfying

Because they save the world when it is in danger
In the darkest hours where the fear reigins

BUT WE BEAT THE ENEMY!
We will all be impressed seeing your abilities
Always vailant like a super Ladybug

This is what Tiki says in the rap.
Also, in the end, Tiki don't say "I will kick your butt if you don't listen". She says,
"My patience has limits when I know I am right
If you don't say yes in fast I will decide
Being alone doesn't help anyone
I am opening your path
I don't have a choose I will decide for you
No time to wait another three months
You are ladybug!"
Especially when they're "off mask" (Why the hell would Marinette 'choose' Adrien, the guy she's barely friends with, over Cat Noir, who she has been through so much with and saved her life so many times)
But you know what.

The thing is, sometimes shows in VO (so in english) have good writting, and then the french trad is just very childish (for exemple Steven Universe, I could never watch it in french, the voice actors also don't fit at all)
But in the video I saw that even in english some of the written seem also childish (like "you saved my heart" I am very romantic but when he said that I almost laughed in the theatre) so i don't know
Oh and also no Marichat which is my absolute favorite pairing :(
And I was planning on watching this movie in Dutch/Flemish (my native language), English and French because I thought the French songs would be so beautiful 😅
The songs were just bad, having an different voice actor for the talking about singing voice was a bad idea.
The movie felt so much rushed and I don't understand why if he wants to make a second one??
I like how they kind of explain the yo-yo into nothing part, by it being able to fly. It pulls her along at first and then apparently just stay in the air when we can’t see it
The yoyo is actually an ancient weapon used for hundreds of years in the philippines where it was stuck with spikes and struck at their prey, or so said
That cat part was so true, i have 5 cats and theyre all like that. 11:42
the problem with miraculous in general is that it was first intended for young children and that's where the series makes sense but as time has gone on more older people have joined in and from season 4 and 5 i think they have aimed the series more at the older crowd. the problem is that you can't rewrite the whole series but you can't just leave it either
Truu
I mean the people was children when they first started miraculous and then they grow up and the show runners thought they want to grow the show with them?
Eh, I think the series just got better as it went on and maybe it made more sense for the movie or potential movies to be their own universe.
In other words, stop dragging your show for so many years without an ending on sight. If they want the Pokemon audience, then this format is not working at all. Or just finish this plot and start with a different miraculous user, that would make more sense.
