Love James, such a sweet soul and might I add very handsome. So happy they remade this lovely series. It's great fun to watch. The setting reminds us a lot of where live in Tennessee
I absolutely love both series of creatures great and small the beautiful scenery. The life's of the people living there showing how important and dependent they were on their day today lives on each other. A wonderful memory of my own life growing up in the 40s not surrounded by the beautiful yorkshire scenery but surrounded by homely folk who shared everything with you and nobody was left out when the bombs were dropping close by.
Usually any remakes are not as good as the first (book or movie). However, this current version is so special! I love the actors who are playing James and Helen. I had to purchase the 2 DVD's and will when the new Season 3 and Season 4 come out. Could watch this over and over! Makes me wish we could go back to those simpler times.
Am a longtime fan of that first series....watched American debut of this ,and can't say much against it... quite respectable,..and I am hard to please when it comes to today's television...give it a chance.
Glad Sam West is Siegfried. One of my favourite actors. Looking forward to watching it.... in Spain so can't get my5. Know all the stories almost by heart but I'm sure it'll be great

I def was too! I remembered the first series as being "perfect", and couldn't understand the need to "remake" it! I was thankfully wrong - THIS one is perfect!!
huh...have this idea that, for different reasons, the first will remain a hard act to follow...though less for younger audiences...40 and .48 - the second with its glamorous setting and romantic double entendre - seem more Hollywood-ized 'home truths' than the original...which, I guess, will be one reason some will like the remake less...and others more...

He was 53 at the time of filming. Robert Hardy was 52 at the time they filmed the first series in 77 although he looked much older. Donald Sinclair was 29 when Alf White joined him in 1940.

EVERYONE loves the "remake"!! I saw the original, and was prepared to dislike the second version - now the first is only a distant memory! Lol

Amazing! i thought they would have got a black actor to play james herriot and inserted asian actors here and there as they do nowadays.
