The Maybach 57 (chassis no. W240) and 62 (chassis no. V240) were the first automobile models of the Maybach brand since the brand's revival by DaimlerChrysler AG (now Daimler AG). They are derived from the Benz Maybach concept car presented at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show. The concept car was based on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan, as are the production models. The Luxury Brand Status Index 2008 voted the Maybach first place, ahead of Rolls-Royce and Bentley. The models ceased production in 2013, due to continued financial losses for the marque, and sales at one-fifth the level of the profitable Rolls-Royce models.

Half the parts you probably can't even get anymore! We had an '04 Maybach 62 in our dealership and the liquid-cooled alternators are out of stock and no longer available. I mean, can you image having to replace the glass roof panel on a 62 if a rock or object fell on it and destroyed it!? The insurance company insuring that 62 would have a coronary and total the car, likely, in that order. LOLZ

I am using 500SEL MERCEDES BENZ...its Plate No. AET5000 in the North Borneo Island. I started to drive from my Great Grandfather's Chiefdoom SEMASHA Palace at the Tip of Borneo Island and travelled round the Borneo Island non-stop and stayed at the House of Momogon Nulluw at Metropolitan City Kota Kinabalu Sabah..

Great video...so much hard work and today 2021 the Depreciation on the Maybach 57's and 62's is insanely so low....a complete disaster for any owner and Mercedes.

Incredibile, the whole car was basically handbuilt down to the smallest component. No wonder so much personalisation was possible.
