    A note that I made when following this video is that you only need three smelters and three furnaces because they only take one metal and don't spread out. At the most you could have copper, tin, and iron going in three different furnaces at a time, and you could have gold, scarlet, and octarine going at a time. I was able to make my auto smelter smaller with this in mind. Just a helpful note for people looking at this video since 1.0 release :) Thank you for the great guide Tehp

      Let's say I'm smelting 5 copper and 20 tin. Copper goes into the first furnace, tin into the second. After 7 ingots have been smelted, I add 13 more tin into the system. Since the furnace that was smelting copper is now empty, the new tin goes into that one. Now both furnaces are smelting 13 tin. If I add more copper to the system, there won't be anywhere for it to go and it will end up in my ingot chest still as copper ore. This is why there are more than three furnaces in the setup.
      Of course if you don't mind putting overflowed ores back into the system every now and again, this is not an issue and you can build the more compact system to save space.

      I have the opposite problem. I have my smelters full of 9999 ore and they can't keep up with the input stream. I need like 9+ of each just to keep up.

    My mates and I tested putting furnaces next to each deposit and smelting it there so we get bars coming back to our base instead of ore, which was cool, but I think sticking to our original auto smelter at base with one input and output is the best

      See, for aesthetic purposes, I did want an area where it would have the bars going by in a viewport. But I might just have em get deposited soon thereafter. The smell of industry in the air and the sounds of billets dropping into containers. That's Heaven in the Core

    I do a single belt conveyor, 4 furnaces, 4 kilns and two fury forges. They go up the side of my factory, and then out put into chests, which have crafting tables set up around them. Two chests, as the output of the belts, which include my lumber farm, places enough items on the outfeed belt to cause the first collector arm to miss 1 out of 4 items, allowing the second arm and chest to collect enough to stay replenished.

    nice set up, I used this in my base but more of a line rather then 2x the smelters in a circle (so i just used 3 and 3 for the different ores). belts into my ingot auto sorter. I was having problems figuring out big forge set up to make a single drop off/collect set up. thank you for this.

    isn't it just faster to put the ore in the smelters directly???
    it will take for ever to smelt 1000 ore of higher tier....

    • @thewretchedtv
      @thewretchedtv 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      not really because with this method you will always have bars in production, doing it directly makes you have times without any kind of production and with late game bars is a pain to wait only for a few bars at a time

    • @gavinrad1
      @gavinrad1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      After seeing this, it doesn't seem worth the trouble. You can build mine tracks to your drill setups in the early to mid game and in the late game you can build portals. I usually have a simple conveyor loop around my drills to an onsite smelter so that some of the ore gets automatically made into bars but the bulk of the bars get made at the central point in my base where i have 8 of each tier of ore processor.
      The amount of time you spend building such enormous conveyor lines to bring the ore all the way back to your base could be spent either grinding up gardening in your base or searching for tedious to find POIs like the rune song components, phantom spark components, godsent armor, tarot cards, etc. I'm basically done with the game (final story boss on trivial farm status, havent mustered up the will to deal with the final optional boss yet) and I have thousands of each bar mainly from manually loading processors after gathering the ore from my drill stations.

    • @snowballeffect7812
      @snowballeffect7812 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@moo5003 No. None whatsoever. The only reason to do this would be if you had two separate systems that had overlapping smelt-able ores so you can smelt in parallel.
      note that furnace works VERY slowly and I would recommend smelting them near the node before sending them over, or manually split them up into furnaces.

    • @snowballeffect7812
      @snowballeffect7812 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jonglopez5400 Yeah, but I think it should be noted that it's actually not at all as difficult as it first seems to set up this this kind of automation. I figured out most of the automation myself and only came to this video to see if there was a better way than what I had stumbled upon.
      I would highly recommend trying it with one node at least once, preferably something close to your base, just to see if it's something you're willing to put the effort into down the line. Like you said, it's totally not necessary, since items don't despawn, but the world is actually quite small and I find out rather enjoyable to create a sprawling network of conveyors throughout our shared base. It's also nice when my friends log in later in the day to find our chest at base full of pre-smelted galaxite ingots lol.

    • @kikixchannel
      @kikixchannel 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@snowballeffect7812 If you have many boulders, it's more efficient to smelt the ore at the boulder though. IF you want to build long conveyor belt pathways and have the ingots at base, just have them sent onto the conveyor belt after they have been smelted instead of as an ore. It will take more smelters...but if you're limited to one smelter per ore type, you don't really even need more than one or two boulders, at which point placing the conveyor belts for them seems kind of...pointless.
