Perfect guide, I'll definitely follow this one tonight... and introducing mob farm you showed to us at the end of the video with explanation of mob spawning condition would be awesome. AND MAN WE CAN BREAK WAYPOINTS?
Awesome video! I was just thinking about trying to find out my self if it was possible when I got your video recommended. As I was trying it out I've found some better designs, more compact and easier to build, also I noted that the arm can also be powered by the pulsing line without any problems. So I'm powering everything with the pulse and getting rid of the space between the drill and arm, the arm is able to get the item while the drill is pulling it, so it's not necessary and it's faster this way. You can even decrease the space between each chest by drilling the chest from behind instead or you can place the by pairs, but it may need some conveyors. It also possible to put something like a zig zag of chests making it more compact with the downside of having to walk around it, it's build like this: chest arm> drill drill/\ drill/\
Yeah that would work. i like lines. Easy for me to follow. :P and the arms handle things well so the pulse system i think would work fine on the arms also. Alittle slower but nothing crazy.
Great video! I didn't know the drills can pull items through a wall, I'll use that for sure. By the way I tend to do autosmelting at the mining node location, bringing only ingots into the base to prevent some of the smelters not keeping up with the ore input (in case the ore is slow to smelt or I have several nodes for the given ore). If you are bringing all the ores to smelt in your base a splitter might be a good idea to split your input into several lanes. Tutorial for a splitter might make for another awesome video though!
Sadly there is not splitters system that i know of. and that is a great idea for making sure there is not a bottle next. I would have two systems then. One to handle ore picked up while exploring or mob farms and one at the ore nodes themselves. A hybrid of the two systems. Excellent suggestion.
@@DarkxGaming352 I have an idea for a splitter, but haven't gotten around do do it yet. It is time based though, so it might not be exact. You would have a loop with 3 delays and grab a wire from between each, therefore 3 separate signals, that would cycle through each second. Each signal would be connected to a robot arm scooping items after the main conveyor belt and feeding a new one. This could also be done with 2 delays/arms. I'll try to make one. Though, it would be lovely if there was a part, that could detect an item on a conveyor belt, or if a robot arm could send a separate signal, that it got triggered. That way a proper splitter could be made.
In case you had the same misunderstanding like I did when I first tried it out a few minutes ago: The drills do not pull items from the chest, the items were never able to enter the chest in the first place, so the drills are able to absorb them.
Facts i think you need mining almost at 900 to do it yourself but i was mine blown when i saw someone put a drill …. He kept making worlds for waypoints 😭😭😭
Now the question is... could you theoretically make something that has so much of a delay, you could plant something, and it harvests at the right time? 😎 Great video either way tho super informative!
the only problem with this setup is the amount of space if takes up. You need massive amounts of backend room (which admittedly is available in the world) to set this stuff up. So if you like keeping all your chests relatively close together forget trying this. Auto sorting is definitely for folks who dont mind being spread out. That being said this video was awesome. Definitely saving it for future reference.
Also maybe i missed it, why do the 1st and 2nd tier smelters operation with only arms but the high end forges need drills? is it simply due to the forge's footprint/size?
@@stephen6503 You don't need the drills if you're happy to have your big forges not in a line (or use more conveyors I guess). Anything that can't be smelted will stay where the input arm dropped it so you need to pick it up from that same spot.
Could we possibly get a screenshot of what's underneath all your flooring with how you have it compactly designed in your current base? Rather than one linear design that extends West to East as in your video when you explain the process? Much appreciated!
No, lol. There is a full stream of that, but it's a bad job. While making this video, I learned better ways of creating the system that I wished I would have used.
@@DarkxGaming352 Still very helpful! It was easy to follow in that liner design. But then my brain went poof and steam started coming out, when I started to try and curve the designs to align it into the constraints of my base. Do you by any chance have a VOD of that stream? 👀
You do not need a drill setup to automate the large forges. You just need to place a crane at the corner feeding into another forge. No drills no conveyors
Yeah thats what I've been doing but if you do it that way you have to make them wrap around eachother instead of a straight line which is uglier and less cool
this is a nice proof of concept, but to me it seems to be super annoying to craft with this kind of setup, looks like you would have to run to each individual stash and grab everything you need instead of having the box stand right at the crafting bench
It would be insane to use this as a crafting setup, lol. I have a crafting station near the bottom of my base that houses everything that I would craft. I go to the auto-sorting system, grab all but 1 item, and bring it to my crafting station. This is more of a dump all. So if you are out in the world and exploring, you can dump it all onto your convoy line or in a box with an arm next to the teleporter and head back out.
I just have a seed and block chest by the core portal, having those two dump chests has made it easy to sort what I come back with as its usually just slime and random gear I sell to merchant, this is insanely overcomplicated and resource heavy to avoid clicking the auto fill button on chests lol
@@DarkxGaming352 It would be easier to just bring the crafting station to the chest with the mats in it and just craft from there. That way you dont have to take anything out of the chest.
Right after watching the video i found out from the settings that you can press Q when chest is open to place all of same items inside, saved time on building this sorting system. But the forgery thing is amazing, and wtf waypoints can be broken?!
Very good details in here that I'm going to immediately use in my game. Is there not a way to build a smelter array that distributes the ore evenly between them for a faster smelting? My issue is that if I drop off 500 tin ore, it would be stuck in a single smelter to do all of it instead of distributing it evenly between the multiple smelters.
Great video. Can I ask though, how you get around the crafting range limitation. Are you using a mod, or just running to each chest to get the items needed? Thnx.
Crafting is done outside of the auto sorting system. So I have a chest filled with all the crafting items and if it get low i just go to the auto sorting system grab all but 1 items and bring it to the crafting chest and dump it in there. Then i surround the crafting chest with the most used benches and swap out the not so used one when i need to.
Would be nice if there was an option to tweak the behaviour of robot arms with a tool, or something similar. For example always leave one item in a chest in each slot, that way sorted items wouldn't be stuck in the sort chest, but could be moved further.
Great video - I’d be curious on your approach to mob farm, I’m new but hadn’t seen anyone else use the radiation crystals that I went with, so you’re on my wavelength. I was concerned with factions fighting each other to break my walls but it looks like that helps yours die a bit faster (but I found overlapping crystals wasn’t helping, seems they only take one stack of rad at a time?)
You know I like your video, but I want the game developers to know this is NOT the automation that we want as players. All of this, every thing you are showing could be simplified like the game Grounded (later updates). If I spend an hour in the environment I will spend 15 to 20 min sorting and destroying items and resources. That is not fun. Your video is awesome, but just incase a dev is looking in the comments....
I personally love the automation. I have full mob farms along with all wood being auto generated, killed, mined, cut into planks, smelted, moved to a consolidated place then auto sorted into chests
@damiondavisdead no it doesn't. there are scenes with three nodes and most of the time I just extend out the conveyor belt. it's also a nice spot to drop a bunch of inventory that you want but don't care about that will eventually make it back to base. I ain't mad at it. I also don't need instant gratification
It's easier to just have robot arms touch the same corner of the super forge. Also for auto sorting, its easier and really not meaningfully slower to just pulse both arms and drills. Then its all just in one circuit. Since the drils wait for the 1s anyway, having the arms wait that same second makes no difference. Also for smelting i find it better to use an item splitter to have it smelt using many furnaces. But thats a little more advanced than whats covered in this video lol
by item splitter do you mean some sort of A-B on/off chain that goes back and forth grabbing stuff, or actually splitting stacks? If splitting stacks automatically I didn't think you could do that.
@cloudzero2049 I mean splitting stacks automatically, I figured it out a while ago, and I'm fairly active on the reddit. Tbh I think I'll start making YT videos on this stuff my reddit posts get decent engagement, but clearly more people are looking at this stuff here on YT. But in short the answer is just having an arm place things into objects with various placement rules and then having arms or a drill remove them. You can build an 8 way item splitter in this game meaning you could legitimately separate your stacks of ores 8 ways and have each path lead into a full set of each smelter and smelt any ore without thinking at 8x speed
@cloudzero2049 in fact, stacks can be split into any number of items between 1 and 8, you can filter out crops, bugs, and armor pieces with fairly simple circuits. But you can filter out everything stackable as well if you're willing to make a much bigger circuit.
I’m just confused about ur base. Why does the advanced smelter at 15:25 look so clean and where does the pulse come from? Maybe I’m blind but I don’t see it 😅
Do you have any tips or videos on laying out workbenches and chests? Finding a good pattern is proving difficult. I'm searching for a way to kind of chain them so everything is available in the chests for the benches you need.
Yeah. I have one Chest that has all the crafting materials in it. Then I keep my core crafting tables there, and then I'll switch out the not-so-common ones as I need.
The smelting part is good, the sorting however is pointless to me. We have mainly 3 types of items : gear/uniques you can't stack, so you can't sort em as well - crafted ones, you rarely have to auto sort them because you use it on the go (walls/floor etc) - and lastly, stackable mats. So it would aplpy only to that last category, however, we want all our stackable mats to be.. in the same chest, for quick crafting with nearby crafting stations..
awesome video… As a brand new player, Id love to see a demo of some of the cool stuff you can do in this game… e.g. some of the endgame weapons… Cool tricks that you can do… Just things to aim for as I am approaching end game for the first time. I started setting up auto smelters and portals so I always have bars ready .. this is a whole nother level though. more in-depth guide on auto cooking would be cool… is it Possible to set up something to auto harvest?
Very cool, but i think in mot cases its just more efficient to manually sort it out in a compact base layout :D only food/wood factories are good for the infinite generation reasons, mayby short ore smelting line in to single chest,
Maybe. but for me that hordes and builds with everything i needed a dump all system. Plus with large mob farms its nice for them to sort everything out and smelt all the ore.
It's a shame this isn't more...needed, for the lack of a better word. It's incredibly designed and I love pushing games to their absolute limits. But apart from looking fancy and claiming you've mastered the electronics function of Core Keeper to run Factorio Lite, it only seems marginally more useful than just putting a portal or moving a waypoint next to a node (or the 2-3 node setpieces that exist in the world) and just going over to collect the bars every so often. Especially for something like Octarine which requires you to bridge across the sea if you want to put it on a conveyer belt. Though the auto sorting tech is nice, will probably try to incorporate that in my base somehow.
Awesome video! I was watching you the other day when you were creating this but didn't pay too much attention cause I was playing as well haha! I struggle a lot to understand logic circuits and I don't get why is the pulse needed in the sorting circuit. Is it so drills don't break the chests or what? Also, I was thinking about a sorting system that also moves the loot to a "storage room" in your base. I mean, after it goes through the sorting it continues through the conveyors to a different room where it's palced in different chests, so that way you don't have to go to the sorting room and you can have a "storage room" where you only see chests with the corresponding loot for each if that makes sense. Would it be possible for this layout to implement that?
Yeah. the hard part is each chest requires an input and an output plus At least pulse power. You could run the arm of pulse power. So if you can solve that problem then the rest of the equation is easy.
I feel like this game could really use the minecraft chest cart, so that you can have ore ship from collection nodes directly into a system like this. Then again, maybe that's in the game and I just haven't gotten there yet, I dunno.

You can even decrease the space between each chest by drilling the chest from behind instead or you can place the by pairs, but it may need some conveyors.
It also possible to put something like a zig zag of chests making it more compact with the downside of having to walk around it, it's build like this:
chest arm> drill
drill/\ drill/\
Yeah that would work. i like lines. Easy for me to follow. :P and the arms handle things well so the pulse system i think would work fine on the arms also. Alittle slower but nothing crazy.
@@DarkxGaming352 is it slower? I didn't notice it, I will test it later
I just need to say, ur so chill i love it! hi from spain, keep the good work
Thank you so much. Hopefully ill catch you during the live stream
Oh hell yeah you did do the video about it! Amazing, thank you for this!
Great video. Didn't know drills would work like that with chests.
In case you had the same misunderstanding like I did when I first tried it out a few minutes ago:
The drills do not pull items from the chest, the items were never able to enter the chest in the first place, so the drills are able to absorb them.
You are my Jesus. I was searching hours for a guide like this xD
Thank you. Best complement so far. !
This new factorio update looks lit
Lol i love it.
@DarkxGaming352 I love you daddy. Good luck with your channel
This is bloody amazing! You just got yourself a sub!
I goin to save on my favorites because so much useful information than i cannot obtain all in one view.
Thank you let me know if there is anything else you would like me to cover.
DRILLS CAN BREAK WAYPOINTS???
Not the one in your base! But boss ones, yes.
Facts i think you need mining almost at 900 to do it yourself but i was mine blown when i saw someone put a drill …. He kept making worlds for waypoints 😭😭😭
It's best to grab the Orange slime boss waypoint due to it being close to your base and it shouldn't interfere much with exploration
If you get high enough mining damage you can mine them yourself
@@Trnd.y Mining 845, which is incredibly doable with the larva armor. Especially upgraded
Now the question is...
could you theoretically make something that has so much of a delay, you could plant something, and it harvests at the right time? 😎
Great video either way tho super informative!
Maybe harvesting. but it would be very drill intensive. I dont know of way to auto plant.
This video is perfect , good job and thank you
Nicely explained. 🙂
Outstanding Video.
JUST WHAT IM WAS LOOOKING FOR!
the only problem with this setup is the amount of space if takes up.
Im glad this info is here, thank u
just started this game, didn't know this will get complicated.
The videos will help allot. Im doing my best to keep it simple.
Dude. This is incredible. Well done. Subbed.
Bro ty so freaking much. The inventory management seems to take more time than actually playing and exploring!!!!!!! I am totally doing this!!!!
Omfg that is an insane amount of work
Naw, you should see what i did in Shapez 2 . i spend 25 hours making a make anything machine.
@@DarkxGaming352 my head hurts thinking of this since i just started playing. I get factorio ptsd and nostalgia haha
wow im so gonna do this thx man, so helpful!
This is a great video, thanks for the info!
Great video. You should include one on item splitters too
There is no way that i know to currently split items.
You do not need a drill setup to automate the large forges. You just need to place a crane at the corner feeding into another forge. No drills no conveyors
Yeah thats what I've been doing but if you do it that way you have to make them wrap around eachother instead of a straight line which is uglier and less cool
Thanks for the protip. I was in drill mode so i did not think about that.
this is a nice proof of concept, but to me it seems to be super annoying to craft with this kind of setup, looks like you would have to run to each individual stash and grab everything you need instead of having the box stand right at the crafting bench
Will be fine once they update the crafting radius for nearby chests, (which is planned in a future update).
@@sushileafbeats where can we find info on planned future updates?
@@DarkxGaming352 It would be easier to just bring the crafting station to the chest with the mats in it and just craft from there. That way you dont have to take anything out of the chest.
Right after watching the video i found out from the settings that you can press Q when chest is open to place all of same items inside, saved time on building this sorting system. But the forgery thing is amazing, and wtf waypoints can be broken?!
Thank you for the video. :)
Dude i dont talk englisg and i even by that i understand everything u say in the video a rllly good use from the items
Great video! Many thanks!
Awesome video, I had no idea there was so much depth in the power system. my projects suddenly multiplied
Not to my knowledge.
I agree. I was shocked that there was not a way to lock items in a chest of filter items.
I feel like this is the guy who built a working computer in minecraft
Hi DarkX just wanna drop you a line, great content. Keep it up. Any game welcome.
Join the discord for early access to the mob farm video. It should be uploaded in about an hour.
That’s pretty smart. I’ll have to try that 😂
I skipped going on a date to watch this
Wish you had uncovered the tiles in your base so we could see the electrical wiring with your full setup, but other than that great vid
Lol its bad. I ripped it all up in a live stream and redid it to this version.
I’m sure it’ll improve over time .
I personally love the automation. I have full mob farms along with all wood being auto generated, killed, mined, cut into planks, smelted, moved to a consolidated place then auto sorted into chests
@@3Bud the big ore nodes shouldn’t be limited , it makes all the work useless
@damiondavisdead no it doesn't. there are scenes with three nodes and most of the time I just extend out the conveyor belt. it's also a nice spot to drop a bunch of inventory that you want but don't care about that will eventually make it back to base. I ain't mad at it. I also don't need instant gratification
@@3Budidk if you've played factorio but it sounds like you should
It's easier to just have robot arms touch the same corner of the super forge.
This is pro... now im going to have to do an updated video lol.
This comment also lead me to testing put everything on the pulse system. and it the system works great. So no need for a dual wiring set up.
Maybe I’m blind but I don’t see it 😅
It might be hidden under an arm. I ripped my base apart and redid it after this video.
Are you planning on making more Core Keeper guides???
Yes, I am working on the next one now.
this opens so much for me. im going to retro-fit the fuck out of this
Holy shit i needed this in my life
This is crazy. How many experimentation did it take to realize how these things work. Like the drill pulling and what not.
We found it on a live stream and was wait what the heck?
Great video!
So it would aplpy only to that last category, however, we want all our stackable mats to be.. in the same chest, for quick crafting with nearby crafting stations..
once i've got the resources, i'm deff going to make that auto sorter
also seeing this makes me wish there was some kind of item teleportal in the game
I agree. Once you get to the outer most zones ... Belting become a chore.
okay so the biggest problem with the sorter, is figuring out what to sort lol
This video is insanely good!
Bro what!? I thought this game was just cozy, did not realize you can do a production line.
It's straightforward lines. dont expect anything close to a factory game lol .
awesome video… As a brand new player, Id love to see a demo of some of the cool stuff you can do in this game… e.g. some of the endgame weapons… Cool tricks that you can do… Just things to aim for as I am approaching end game for the first time.
I started setting up auto smelters and portals so I always have bars ready .. this is a whole nother level though.
more in-depth guide on auto cooking would be cool… is it Possible to set up something to auto harvest?
I wouldnt recommend auto harvest. Just has to do with how powerful the gardening skill is
Very cool, but i think in mot cases its just more efficient to manually sort it out in a compact base layout :D only food/wood factories are good for the infinite generation reasons, mayby short ore smelting line in to single chest,
Maybe. but for me that hordes and builds with everything i needed a dump all system. Plus with large mob farms its nice for them to sort everything out and smelt all the ore.
i just found tin.... i will reference this later ty XD
HUGEEE VIDEO🔥
what the actual fuck! i did not expect a PHD level video! if anyone heard this wihout watching they would think i am watching engineering stuff!
Thank you for the compliment. I do put allot of time and effort in the videos to not only make them interesting but fun to watch.
@@DarkxGaming352 it really shows! great content!
What auto sorter ?
I didn't know this existed in core keeper. Cool.
very good tutorial
Thank you! Cheers!
Then again, maybe that's in the game and I just haven't gotten there yet, I dunno.
i also integrated the sawmill for plank processing
Yeah i do that in a separate farm but that would work also. Same with sand to glass.
Could you make a video about mobfarms?
Working on one tonight :)
