I think you are a very old soul Maggie. I really admire your fearlessness and willingness to live in life's grey area, while so many seem too willing to 'pick a side' (whether they admit it or not). You are very generous with your spirit and intellect. Thank you.

Congrats on the 28K. I would love your review of Roman Holiday, Audrey Hepburn's first Academy award win. I really liked it. My one issue is that Gregory Peck's change of mind could have been done a tad better, but the ending is just absolutely fantastic. It's an ending in film that is rarely done nowadays. Peck and Hepburn are just brilliant.

The film that pops into my head for 'use of colour' is the Oscar winning film Traffic from the year 2000, directed by Steven Soderbergh. This film really excited me as a young man starting to get into cinema.

I agree with you on just enjoying art and feeling it without thinking to much, that comes later, I am only beginning to watch David Lynch films, and I am approaching my initial viewings as just an experience to 'enjoy', and then I like to dissect it later, which is great If a film can't be enjoyed as a first viewing and also have so many layers where it cannot make each viewing a different experience then for me it lacks imagination, I hope that made sense haha,

    Neither.
They both did their very best work when they worked together. After the Beatles split, neither would create anything quite at the level they did before. It's an example where a collaboration of talent achieved more than the individual participants were able to achieve on their own.

I find that the people that are most woke and obsessed with identity politics are actually neoliberals who tend to be more conservative on economic issues. "The Deer Hunter" was (rightfully) booed out of Europe when it came out : yet the average butt-hurt American viewer of either a certain age or a certain kind of family background will have nothing but empty praise for it as a "masterpiece".
