    LOL I owned 3 Impalas.
2003 LS 3.8 V6 4 speed automatic put about 108,000 miles on it. Great vehicle very reliable. Traded it for a 2007 LTZ 3.9 V6 4 speed automatic.
Very reliable as well put 135,000 miles on it.
Traded it for 2014 Limited LT 3.6 V6 6 speed automatic put 150,000 miles on that also very reliable.
All them were all original and in great shape. I think the 3.6 V6 with 6 speed was my favorite.

That 6 speed was beautiful, and the 3.6 put out as much hp as the SS did. Incredible car, id take that over my 3.5 any day of the week.

4 speed auto in 2006? Man that transmission is ancient.

The entire platform was ancient, and they used it from 1988-2016

2012-2016 they stuck the 3600 DOHC V6 and 6 speed automatic.

The Dodge Journey had a 4 speed auto until it was discontinued in 2021.

@@jessieharbinjr.6589 hey I got a 2014 Impala LT with the 3.6 and it hasn’t given me any trouble. I got two years left to pay off on the loan but I guess that’s because I take care of my car.
It’s not about if they sucked or not that’s your opinion but it normally boils down to do people take care of them or just run them into a ground and say they suck. I’m just saying.

The 3.6 for the 2012 Model was significantly better. I'll say, it added horsepower making 300.

Absolutely terrible cars. I have a friend that had one and I sat in the back seat and couldn't believe how cramped and tight it was for such a large car. knee and foot room were very tight. Interior looked ok but material quality was crappy. GM kept plugging along with that ancient 4 speed auto and push rod engines while others were much more advanced. Hence the reason they still make Camry's, Accords, and Altima's while GM abandoned all passenger cars

Rolling mediocrity. They were the worst, most obvious signs of GM cost cutting. Even the SS was awful as it ate transmissions for breakfast.

I thought these were reliable cars with reliable engines

The only reason why the SS ate up transmissions because the transmission couldn’t handle the torque from the 5.3 L V8 and they’re way to remedy that so you complaining about it sucking carries no weight
